I just don’t understand the logic behind the GvG-critics.
Every guild doing GvGs (at least I know) , is playing WvW all the time.
But when they meet for 1 hour a day ( or god forbid 3 hours over 3 days) to do GvGs it’s destroying WvW? Are you sure? Really?

Edit: And believe me, we would love to have our own Arena or battlefield, to not even interfere with WvW stuff these 3 hours per week

WvW is a game type that we believe very strongly in. We’ve seen that people have been organizing their own combat in WvW and that’s really cool, but WvW requires changes that are not always in step with the gameplay that has been emerging. Our focus is on making WvW as strong as it can be and we will continue to make changes with that in mind. We have been and will continue to discuss these open field battles, but in the meantime the changes we make to WvW will always have that game type first and foremost in mind.

Notice he said nothing about GvG. However, taking part of the WvW space and saying “This is our bubble of real estate in a very small area of WvW. No one come inside of it or attack us because we are GvGing”, is taking the gameplay space that that the WvW team developed for all WvW players and would be out of step with how they planned on the space being used.

Or to put it another way.. Can I come over to the state park that has a picnic area, tape off and take over a portion of it and tell everyone to stay out because I am having a private function?

The place where the gvg`s are held has ZERO strategic value. Showing a bit of respect for the guilds involved and giving them1 hour or so to finish a few rounds is not that much of an effort. Or is it ?

I actually signed into my forum account, and I never do, because I KNEW there would be a forum thread about this. GvGs aren’t the point. The point is that Anet, you are getting increasingly detached from your most loyal playerbase day by day. The proof was in that stream. I could not BELIEVE how you guys just ignored the people crying out for a GvG mode. You act like they don’t exist and even act like they detracted from the stream somehow….that stream was crap, to be honest, (some Q&A…..seriously) and it’s incredibly insulting to the hardcore guilds that make up the core of WvW the way you simply ignore us, in a stream for the very gamemode most of us play exclusively. I can’t believe how blind you guys are to this cash cow right under your noses. You try to push sPvP like the plague as an esport where a set GvG mode really has the potential to blow up. How can you not see this? There are so many people involved in this GvG scene with absolutely zero support from you lot. Imagine if you showed the slightest bit of support.

You keep catering to the lazy PVE crowd, the group of players will be gone to another game the second a new shiny one is out. You don’t cater to the people who can see what WvW really could be. We do our best with what we have, but I don’t think you realize, Anet, how GOOD the pvp in this game really is. There is a reason we started playing this game and still are, the few of us PvP people who are left. Most games don’t have pvp that is as good, as interesting, or as diverse as this game’s, less are MMOs. Even lesser still are still available to play. The siege buffs, especially ACs are completely ruining this aspect of the game. Do you seriously think that all the people trying to get you to stop are all trolls?

Believe it or not, whatever sample of the playerbase you have in your testing IS NOT helping WvW. I am trying to tell you. I am trying to warn you. All of us are. They are not representative of the people who play WvW. That much is obvious. The PvP people play this game to actually play the game and fight other groups of players. All people do anymore is sit in towers with siege, this is NOT the game that we love so much. That is spamming 3 buttons and having them be effective because they hit obscenely more targets than anything else, and do more damage than most player groups. How is that rewarding? How does that encourage actually playing the kitten classes in this game?

I am telling you this, because when both groups of people move from this game, the PvErs because of a new carrot and the PvP crowd because of horrible support from you guys, you will be left with no one. “Splitting the zerg” won’t matter. We have all seen what happens to servers when the core WvW guilds just aren’t there. They die. They have no community. The PvP crowd will leave in whole guilds and it will be sudden. The PvErs will leave slower but it will be steady and pick up as time goes along. You will either fix this now or this game is doomed to fail. I sincerely hope you change before you remember this crossroads when it is far too late. That’s my 2 cents and I think that many of the WvW crowd would agree with what I am saying.

What we care about are fun fights and so far only Gandara delivered. All i have seen from the german server is blobs and emote spam, it just seems like a bigger version of Blobbadon.
If you want your points so badly, you can have them, but atleast spread out those blobs a little and give us some fun fights.

Uh, sorry to hear, got a few of those too. Not sure what is up with the mods, but they remind me of the soup kitten from Seinfeld (old tv series). As for the laughs, i dont really mind, it was just unexpected. At the end of the day, we both get our bags and as long as we`re having fun its a win/win. I apologize to both AG and UW if anyone got offended by anything said on TS and hope you will forgive some of our more “vocal” members
However, being a simple member in FSV, i can only speak for myself. I just wish people would stop arguing in this thread (and other places) and just be happy that we have a nice matchup. Win or lose, there are still good fights to be had.
We should make the most of this week and be happy that we`re not against some server that just rolls in 60 man blobs on every map.

So far it has been a good weekend for me. Had awesome fights against Auroras CRUX, FIRE, TUP and others that i forget atm (my memory sucks :p).
@Crux – good fights and I must say I have lots of respect for you guys, it was really nice of you to not add when FSV was fighting FIRE in Bay. I even managed to do a /bow before i died
@FIRE, TUP – really good fights, most did not turn out too good for us, but its a learning process.
Looking forward for more action, so far its been a blast.

This is WORLD vs WORLD.
And there are german guildgroups too.

I don`t mind the size, its the skill lag.
I know this is world v world, it is also the only place where you can win, because of your numbers. Refusing to roam in groups smaller than 30, even building siege in open field battles when you already heavily outnumber the enemy shows just how insecure you are.
Personally i dont care if my server is winning or losing, i dont care about the points, and i couldnt care less about sitting in a circle in spvp all day long as you suggested.
When you and i will move on from gw2 to other games i`m pretty sure we wont remember the server`s score at the end of a week or the times when groups of 40 rolled over 10 enemies spamming 1. What we will remember will be the fun intense battles between more or less equal forces, and the fun we had with our guildmates. I know theres no such thing as “equal forces” in wvw, but you probably understand what i mean.
Its already clear that FSP wont win this matchup. Atleast give us some fun fights. Is it too much to ask ?
The worst thing that can happen is that one of us will die. Not a big deal, we can respawn, pay the 1 silver for repair costs and hope/try to do better than the last time.

Quite a number of posters on this topic need to grow up, none of you are covering yourselves in glory here. Though I have lots of respect for what FSV and Punk do for the server, some posters from these guilds are coming across as kittenheads on this topic, Kaleygh in particular whose comments in relation to AoA and Lion are completely uncalled for. I don’t condone what some members of Lion did, but the reaction to it has been way OTT and was better left to ingame whispers etc or the server forums. If you don’t want to get along ignore each other, but it’s pathetic that some posters feel the need to tear into a guild like this.

I don’t participate in GvG but I personally don’t mind it. I would call for players on all sides to respect it, but it can be very hard to police. I used to play Lotro on Snowbourn server in which we organised an unofficial 1v1 area away from the main action and objectives. There were always 1 or 2 that would try interfering, until one side formed a gank tribe solely for the purpose of killing 1v1 players there. Hope it doesn’t happen here.

Looking back at what started the whole drama it involved 1 AoA player who decided it was a good time to start fighting npc`s in the middle of 2 guilds facing eachother, and Lion using it as a reason to troll. Sorry if i have strong reactions to bs, but when people troll i just troll back. What happened at the gvg should not affect you in any way since (i hope) you were not directly involved, so if i am or not a “kittenhead” like you kindly put it, its not really any of your kitten business.
If you want to play the “moral saint” role here, go ahead. But as a veteran of FSP wvw i`m allowed to have an opinion and i belive i`m free to post that opinion wherever i wish. The whole drama between AoA and DW ruined what was left of our community after many of the other guilds transfered like rats leaving a sinking ship. The whole thing was the fault of the people involved at a leadership level, people with ego`s too big for their own good. However, there are people in both guilds that did nothing to me and that i respect.
And now this bs with Lion. Then again, we cannot expect much from a guild whose leader is 14 years old.
You talk about “policing” and “comments that are uncalled for” forgetting how easy is to just sit on the side and pass judgement on things that do not affect you.

I do not know how things turned out, that the Lion are wrong or not, what I most regret is that I saw sentences to people of our own server that could have been avoided. If there is anyone who makes a mistake talking in private, do not throw kitten on your server on the official forums in public. For more of a guild as the Lion who is one of the few guilds that makes upgrades and defends the border, noble work and certainly more useful than the gvg.

If you guys cant respect the fact that a guild takes 2 hours from a whole week of wvw roaming to do a gvg, then honestly, you deserve to see a lot more of those nasty “sentences” you saw earlier. It 2 hours man… two bloody hours. If any guild or pug out there cannot respect that, then honestly i don`t want them on my server.
As the guys from Gandara nicely pointed it out in the posts above, it is also OUR time, and we also play this game to have fun.

against FSV, we won the first time 4vs7-8 against your melee hammer train, but then you kept getting more numbers and it was too tough, and while we got 5, you grew to 15ish or so. still some decent fights, they were fun, although almost impossible for us to win.

against WdR: fun stuff, but kitten , stop focusing me! :<

You guys did really well, and sorry for outnumbering you, we usually run 10+.

GvG doesn’t exist inside Guild Wars 2, WvW is specifically designed for servers to fights for resources. You literally cannot force GvG on everyone just because you said so. It’s not your decision to make. Trying to cap assets and PvP is what WvW is all about, if you don’t like it then take it up with Anet to add GvG to the game. You’re acting ridiculous and quite frankly like children.

Given the fact your guilds make up a massive minority to the player base who exactly do you think you are raging that people are trying to complete objectives? I’ve heard it stated that “The majority of people voted yes to it” Sorry but I wasn’t informed by Anet that there was a vote and since; like I said you are a vocal minority I believe your opinion means very little in context considering the map is to be used by all three servers.

If you want to kitten each other then go do it in SPvP and have a few teams from each guild fight it out otherwise grow up, shut up & man up.

Uhm, you do realize that the gvg matches are organized at the windmill, an area with 0 strategic value and where you rarely find anyone around. As for you disliking the gvg mode, well, that doesnt mean you should not have any respect for the people involved in it. Wasting supplies to build a treb just to hit those guys at the gvg spot and acting like a kitten in general does not help your server at all.
I`m not sure who you are, and i honestly don’t care, but you cannot expect everyone to play the way you want to. There will always be organized guilds, and there will always be matches between them, same as it was in the other games that used the same wvw concept way before gw2 (like Warhammer and Daoc).

As for open field. We are small in numbers, we do important job for server, that most of ppl doesn’t bother to do. I wont be ashamed of using tactics against opponent. If 5. ppl are holding tower and we fight against blob, sure we wont rush outside tower and get killed. Its not being good player (great fighters in open field) its just stupid.

We have great players as Liert, Forgotten Vision, Sig and others and we have noobies. We aren’t elite guild with only pro players. We believe in team play.

Also most of us is against GvG in WvW. There is possibility to make gvg in spvp since Anet introduced costume arenas.

First of all, your kitten guild started the whole crap last night. Dont come here trying to justify it, you`ll only make yourself look even worse. If you guys are so good it would have been you doing the gvg instead of Punk of FSV but instead you chose to troll around and build trebs, acting like 10 year olds.
Just because most of you are against GvG in WvW means nothing to most of us. You still have to respect what others are doing, and since we werent in a spot that was critical to your “advanced wvw tactics” you shouldnt have been there.
As for the AoA player who interfered in the GvG and was yelled at, what do you expect ?
He knew what we were doing there, yet he decided to start fighting npc`s in the middle of the field where we were supposed to fight.
I hope Liert and the other scrubs enjoy being jumped on because it will happen a lot from now on.

The usual blah-blah about every single server community (except for Vizu and Elona on weekends) running only as clustered cluster-kittens except the one the moaner is playing on. If you are really not able to find any decent numbered encounter against Kodashian players, you sure are blinded by your egomania…

Solo-wise and concerning small encounters (5vs5+) I am still a bit disappointed about the lack of quality. Yesterday on EB was a joke – I could solo groups of up to 4 jumping at me, and stomp all of them which even Elona did not offer. Later on different borderlands it got better but still no challenge…
Well, you have some decent guild groups on FSV, some of which we met when running with our guild group later and today. I guess yours wasn’t one of them since you would’ve had many chances to get to learn many of our small(ish/er) groups, giving you some tough encounters. Oh well…

Kodash proved to be boring as hell to fight against so far, just running inside towers and standing on a ac/cannon. Tried to solo roam on your border last night only to find groups of 10 defending camps. Lame
Gandara on the other hand is awesome as always <3

I guess once the week is over all those new commanders that suddenly popped up when we were winning will go back to pve. The same goes for the rest of our zergs, which will probably fade away once they can no longer outnumber the enemy.
I dont mind that we have a strong presence in wvw, what i mind is that those people are there only when things go well.

With those being said, i want to thank Blacktide and Whiteside for this week, i wish you guys will have fun matchups in the future.

We were wiping your groups all day long. Some AM “groups” however are too large, so the only option it to hit and run.

I was on SFR for a while also, back when transfers to SFR were free, so i know what numbers VS can field.

perhaps a wvw game isnt the right game then for the way you prefer it – equal numbers you can find in games where there are arenas für group vs group play – in gw you can only go up for 5vs5, what seems little to less, but there are games ou can get tht you seem to need then…. but not daoc, not warhammer and not gw2

I never asked for equal numbers.
I ask for a server that already has a high wvw population (AM in this case) to spread out a bit and not just blob 24/7.
I ask for fights where i can use other skills than autoattack.
Do you think it is a lot to ask ?
PS – Im a warhammer veteran, i was playing it from release until 2 years ago. And yes, there were blobs in the early days of warhammer, but after a while more and more guilds started to roam with smaller numbers seeking to make a name for themselves and this made the game more fun for everyone. Hopefully servers like AM will learn something from that.
