You guys must be channeling some psychic powers this weekend. We agree arrows need to be a bit faster to make DPS against moving targets a bit more reliable. 12/14 can’t come soon enough. :P
It’s either that we all have psychic powers or we’ve been asking for this kitten for months….
What I don’t understand is why don’t mods shut this thread down? There is absolutely nothing meaningful or constructive happening here.
Let’s say you went into a restaurant, ordered a steak, and the waiter brought you a pile of raw hamburger, and told you “I didn’t have time to cook the steak, please be patient and you’ll get a steak in the future”.
Would you show them any sort of gratitude or respect? Remember folks, we (the players) are customers.

Yes, i’ve started a warrior yesterday, and i cannot believe how useful his skills are. All is nicely thought after and it feels like a complete and extremely fun to play class, and i mean RANGED class.
Yeah I agree with this. Warrior skills are put together so much more thoughtfully. Every weapon skill fits in with the one next to it. Their weapon skills are designed to do damage first, secondary effects second. Weapons skills that only have a non-damage function are few and far between.
Contrast that with the ranger shortbow, where only worthwhile damage comes from auto attack. Or the 1h sword/dagger combo, the damage is laughable and people only take for dodging. (Goes without saying no warrior weapons have game breaking root bugs as well).

I agree with OP 100%
Negative feedback is still feedback. If someone makes a joke like: If you didn’t have time to implement meaningful ranger changes, how did you have time to buff aquatic weapons no one cares about?
^That will almost certainly get deleted. But it is constructive feedback. The community is letting you know we don’t care about aquatic weapons, we would like to see different changes.
Guys take it easy…. they both need to be nerfed
I’m of the “if you build it, they will come” opinion. If someone sets up some kind of tournament league and uses empty servers for it, then more power to them. But you can’t fault the players for wanting the features that have been promised.
JonPeters. I send him to his death every chance I get.
Little late, but here you go.
- Fired the 2 designers working on professions. Hired a full team with industry experience dedicated solely to profession balance.
That’s the only one I want at this point.
honestly no changes at all would have been better than this
huh wtf are you talking about? signets are passive, their active abilities were always instant
I think it would be really cool if in the future, each server(or world) had a unique home map, that was themed towards the name of the server.
I love this idea. Blackgate server would have a huge gate of some sort. Tarnished Coast would be one huge coastline. And Sea of Sorrows would be a map filled with perma-stealth thieves.
Yeah, because the servers are totally not named after actual locations!
…
Black Gate is a Ogre Camp in Grimm Hills area in the Fields of Ruin. Tarnished Coast is around the Asura and Sylvari home areas. As for Sea of Sorrows, just hit M. Its directly south of Lions Arch.
Google “sarcasm” please.
Why is there two posts on the same topic.
Why didn’t the ele die for 6:50’s? Clearly the class is op. How was anyone able to possible outlast the “op” thief for 6:50?
All this is, is a good duel video for 7mins showing the strength of two classes. Looks pretty balanced to me.
I watched the vid again, still a great duel.
Because he, like many thieves, is only surviving by the grace of the classes many escape cards. The ele in the vid is very skilled, and the thief player is faaaaaaaaar outclassed in terms of skill. Yet, due to the OP thief mechanics he is able to survive this long against a clearly superior player.

^ Nah because then you’d have people who play 24/7 running around thinking they’re awesome and skilled and really they need a life.
It’s funny how in an mmo, people will complain no matter what the dev team does
I don’t even know who Totn is. I doubt you were being “purposefully avoided”. And if the top guilds did NOT take a week off then what’s the explanation?
The main WvW guilds on IoJ must have realized that no matter what happened this week they would remain in t2 and decided to take a week off. With SoR entering the match now they have a hard fight ahead of them.
CAPS LOCK MEANS DEVS WILL SEE MY WRITING.
Seriously I don’t know why no orbs = nothing to fight for in WvW. There is a score, your server is ranked. Do people not realize this or something? I’m seeing these threads pop up a lot.
I don’t understand why the orbs gone means there’s nothing to fight for in WvW. What about the score? What about moving your server up in the ranks? There’s plenty to fight for.
Terrible ideas. Basically you want to turn WvW into team deathmatch with npcs. Awful.
Here’s what happened
I had a blast in EB. IDOL and TL did work again, this time, more efficiently.
Wow what a great tactic. Turtle up, wait till the winning server gets bored and leaves, than take everything while they’re gone. Way to prove yourselves there, guys. What does TL stand for anyway? Turtle Lords?
Totally agree. They really need to go to a paid model for server transfers.
Please stop flaming this fix. This is not a poor development decision. Orbs were at best giving a big advantage to servers that had already accumulated a big advantage, and at worst subject to hacking/exploiting.
If you need a reason to go cap a keep then what about the scoreboard? If that’s not reason enough then you’re doing it wrong.
Yeah that is total BS. The thief class needs a total redesign imo. They have waaay to many escape cards. It’s funny, every thief I’ve talked to complains they have no utility, to which I reply you don’t NEED utility when you can do things like this.
Come on mods… useless thread, right? Posts not a meaningful contribution?
(edited by Kam.8109)
Nobody complains because mesmers don’t destealth with a two shot kill that you have .05 seconds to avoid and is conveniently hidden by the rendering bugs.

In regards to seeing the “free transfers are ruining WvW” threads. I think the frequency in which they are created underscores how much the community considers it a problem. They should be spammed. Ever hear the expression, “The squeaky wheel gets the grease”? Well free transfers are a wheel that’s in dire need of some friggin grease.
As I understand it, the clocktower is, in a way, a PvP event: you’re not just competing with the clock, but other players, as whoever is fastest will set the pace. So yes: they are blocking your view on purpose, since it helps them win and you lose. I’m not sure if it’s griefing or just competitive play.
I highly doubt it. Even so, that’s not the kind of competition I enjoy. Thanks but no thanks.
I understand if you have a norn or a charr and want to run the clocktower. But I just encountered a level 2 norn, huge as the player could make him guardian too so he evven has the should armor that sticks out. Name? Block Your View Bro.
I leave the zone and go back in. Different group, no annoying norn. Than a ranger summons his elite spirit…. which is absolutely huge and follows everyone through the puzzle. He does this repeatedly.
I’m not that interested in this event in the first place. Seeing as how it’s a playground for annoying little kitten heads, I’m not going to do it at all now. It’s sad… it seems like a pretty good challenge.
I love the long bow. The build I run is 30/25/15/0/0 or 30/20/20/0/0. Put a superior sigil of perception on your bow. The sigil stacks will eventually add 250 to your precision and you should be sitting around 45-50ish % crit (depending on your gear of course). This makes the longbow hit like a truck. The weapon is slow both in rate of fire and projectile speed but in WvW most people don’t even realize they’re getting hit by a ranger so you don’t have to worry about them dodging as much as others will lead you to believe. In a 1v1 situation the longbow is sort of kittened because of the speed, which is why I never take one to sPvP.
Very important: Stay at max range. If you are <1,000 away from your target the longbow starts to underperform. If you find yourself too close to the enemy, use rapidfire (as it’s damage is not based on distance) and/or switch weapons. For this reason my secondary is the greatsword. The block attack is a very good counter to some of the melee “wtf roflstomp” moves other classes have, as soon as you see someone spinning use it, and you’ll knock them right on their rear.
But even more importantly the number 3 ability – swoop covers an amazing 1,200 distance, making it a perfect escape tool allowing you to get back to max range. Simply whack your target some to kill time while your weapon swap comes off cooldown, then clear your target, turn around, swoop, and you’re at max distance again for the longbow.
And obviously the main hand axe is also good weapon for when <1,000 from the enemy also. Plus it allows you to equip the warhorn which is great as well. I feel the greatsword/swoop escape is worth mentioning because it works so well and I don’t ever see anyone doing it.

Just stating facts. Not my fault you’re offended. As someone who took a beating from IoJ, then watched them deny it was because of transfers, I find the irony delicious that now they’re blaming your loss on transfers.
2 Weeks ago. IoJ v CD v ET -
CD: “Yeah you guys got a ton of transfers, that’s the only reason you’re winning.”
IoJ: “No, IoJ has a solid community of WvW pvpers. We’ve been fighting hard from the start and we never give up.”
Now -
IoJ: “SoS got a ton of transfers, that’s why they’re winning. Plus we’re doing the halloween event. Plus IoJ isn’t a hardcore WvW server.”
I know, the Halloween event is a pretty funny excuse. Like yours is THE ONLY server where it’s going on, right? That’s why you’re affected and nobody else, right?
How can this be? I thought IoJ was a server full of hardcore pvpers who never gave up? I mean that’s what IoJ said 2 weeks ago when everyone said they were only winning because of transfers.
Srsly though GG IoJ. As long as HoD is here you won’t be moving down to t3 next week. Although you might be having an exodus of transfers mid week, when those fair weather transfers move to SoS or blackgate. So maybe HoD can take you after all.
WvWvW. Being in a middle of the road server has tought me to play world vs world but dont get attached because your not going to win all the time so play the game as a whole not as a Snipet of its full potential.
I see. In short, you don’t care, and criticize people who do. That’s like saying “who cares if person X dies, I don’t know him, I’m not attached, I don’t care, chill”.
If a soccer game was interrupted and restarted after 20min when one team was nearing enemy goal in a counter-offensive and outnumbering enemy players – you can be sure there would be protests.
Personally, I was not logged in when this happened but I can understand while those putting in effort right now feel frustrated.
Not caring is not a virtue in itself, you know.
Favorite post by far. Compares apathy over losing time playing a video game to a person dying. After all it IS basically the same thing, right?
So IoJ was the only server that had a Halloween event? Or is IoJ the only ones participating in the events?
Huh. IoJ losing. They’re getting bumped back down to t2. Odd.
If you are buying boosters enough to make a difference in WvW, then you’re losing…. not winning.
I haven’t heard a “We’re working on it” to any but about 2 of those questions. I’ve also seen games quickly empty out because the dev team didn’t respond quickly enough to the community (Diablo 3). Not all of these are huge, complex issues. I really don’t think there’s an excuse for bugged guards to be breaking an altar in a keep for more than 24 hours.
D3 “emptied out” because it was largely devoid of substance. You beat the game and it was only a matter of time until you got tired of grinding. That’s all they offered and that’s why the game failed. It’s not a matter of the devs not responding quickly enough, its that they made a wafer thin game that severely lacked things to do. Comparing such a game to GW2 is comparing apples and oranges.
It would be nice if a developer could just read something on the forums, snap their fingers and fix the issue. But that’s not how it works. Worthwhile fixes take time. And as previously stated, ANET knows it’s a bad idea to go around blabbing about fixes that aren’t finalized yet.
What the issue needs, is the exact thing this generation of gamers completely and totally lack: patience.
For some reason, MMOs endure player criticisms that are far harsher than any other type of game. The community rage can affect the development process negatively, i.e. implementing changes based on knee jerk reactions of frustrated players. Quick fixes can cause more problems than were there originally.
If they say they’re working on it, they are working on it. It takes time to find the right solution. Harassing them to try to evoke a faster response is not a good idea.
Best case scenario; they ignore you because they know taking their time to properly run fixes through their paces is the right way to do things.
Worst case scenario; they implement fixes based on forum raging and that can create more problems than it solves (see TORtanic).
It took years to create this game, fixes this important won’t happen in a couple of weeks.
So are you psychic or something? I wish I knew where thieves where before they attacked.
That’s the unfortunate side effect of the fair weather transfers. Blackgate had a well earned reputation for being one tough group of people. That reputation led to mass transfers. Now BG is one of the most stacked servers out there, and it’s all too easy to say that’s the reason for BG rocketing up the brackets (because it’s probably true).
It’s baffling how most of the problems with the bracket system and WvW in general can be linked to free server transfers, and yet there’s been no action or word in what is obviously the issue in most dire need of attention.
If the dead horse is getting in the way of decent matchups then it should not be left alone.
Give up completely the moment we’re not 1st place.
- Crystal Desert
It’s funny. You can read the comments and immediately know who plays a thief.
“So what if 1 player can hold off dozens of others? Doesn’t mean class is OP”
Stealth needs to break on damage and be detectable at close range. Also we need to add cooldowns to thief attacks. Having no cds would be great except their attacks do TONS of damage. SO LET’S MAKE THEM SPAMMABLE!!! BRILLIANT
You guys DO realize the smartest thing for you to do right now is to go after IoJ? Instead you’re going after CD…. I don’t get it. You think you can take 2nd place or something? Can someone explain this to me?
You guys starting winning the exact moment a bunch of people transferred to IoJ. Please stop acting like you’re master strategists and simply excel at the game. Every server has WvW guilds. Every server has people who “just love to fight”. You just outnumber everyone. Plain and simple.
If there were no free transfers, you would not be winning (at least not by this wide of a margin). Free transfers ruined this match up (and many others).
I hope you remember this next week. Because WHEN you start losing, all those fair weather players that transferred to IoJ this week because their server was losing, are going to bail on you next week when you’re losing. In fact, a few weeks from now you’ll probably be below tier 2.

I like the downed state. I don’t like the abilities some classes have in the downed state though. Everyone should have a single target ranged attack and a self heal, and that’s it.
