I’ve always said my POV was on WvW group setups. Not my problem he didn’t read the full extent of the reply. OP asked about ascended ARMOUR. Not full armour. So again he failed to read what’s actually been posted in replies and original thread. Spvp doesn’t matter as ascended can’t be used. So actually he is arguing over nothing.

Again, PVT is brilliant for most things. It’s trinkets that define a builds damage or otherwise.

1. Source that says armor over 2,800 scales poorly?
2. PVT armour gives me 3,150. Dolyak signet gives extra. More on this later
3. Yes 20k HP in WvW is not enough. If your roaming it’s different, I am assuming of course that the OP won’t be roaming.
4.. Claiming that you giggle at my damage, yet you think a shout build takes 3 shouts is hilarious. Well known that FGJ and SIO are the two you take, followed by a stability source. GG.
5. You are amazing to think that you loose little to none survivability in zerk gear. Roaming I would agree, however again, I’m assuming it’s not for roaming.
6. You can get very high damage whilst still in PVT gear. Again, pots give damage increases based on % of toughness and vitality. So you get the best of a balanced world.

So much of your statement is based on misinformation. I have both ascended Beserker and PVT sets. My survivability goes so much higher in PVT with any build, which is used for group warfare. Yet if I roam, beserker is most certainly the way to go. Armour actually has little effect on most builds, it’s your trinkets that are key to a builds success.

Well obviously I do have several exotic sets. One zerker for dungeon speedruns, for example.

I think I’ll still go PVT on the ascended, because I’m getting it mainly for WvW.

Well I run that build and I have around 65% critical chance with 80% critical damage. So you will be hit hard and it’s not just big initial damage, it’s constant damage so it’s tough to get away from it. I sit at roughly around 28k health with stacks. It’s a good build in the right hands.

I’d say it’s a 0/10/30/0/30 build. PVT armour and probably a mix between zerker and the zerker with vitality accessories. Big damage output on crits (axe auto end chain crits for 6k with 3k normal hits).

Usually has a hammer but can imagine GS doing good damage with it. Key is to make him pop cooldowns as they are long. However he will probably kite if pressure is put on without endure pain.

Hydromancy is slowing becoming the normal sigil

Love how keeps are upgraded already. It slows the attacking process down and allows defending to happen without huge cost to one player.
NPCs using siege, brilliant.
Lords are harder and scale. Give defenders damage reduction or reduced condition duration if outmanned

There needs to be a central supply camp there. Something to focus the action. Gives a lot of dolyaks for hills bay and two smaller towers, not garrison.

In addition, capping those ruins should spawn NPCs that go or specific camps and contest them. Wasted opportunity but chances are we will have new maps at some point

The death from above., it goes off with any falling dmg? My next question is, can I jump from a tower wall and trigger death from above? I m not logged on so would had checked. Also how many people does it affect?

Change that sig to your correct server, you bad man you!

Death will launch 5 players if I remember when I tested it. It’s good but unless your always on the high ground, it can be better spent to give a higher % involvement during combat.

Just a general question, what sigil a are people using on main hand sword and offhand horn? I’m finding, and really enjoying, sigil of hydromancy on sword for that quick slow, keeping people in the AoE. Off hand is heal on kill.

Burst mastery makes burst skills cost 33% less therefore only using 2 bars of adrenaline and removing 2 conditions. By not taking it i pay the full cost but lose 3 conditions.

Last time I tested (about 5 months ago) it still removed 3 conditions when burst mastery was traited. I haven’t heard of any changes to it, I guess I’ll have to test it again.

Tested in game.
Burst mastery REFUNDS one adrenaline bar. It expends all bars, which means 3 at full and removed 3 conditions, then refunds one bar.

Don’t take skill tool tips literally. Always test. You have been gimping your build by assuming

I would assume it’s because of cleansing ire that rifle isn’t superior to longbow. Having an AoE field that 100% lands and cleanses, which is never affected by blind is a key thing. Rifle is avoidable and is also affected by blind, therefore not giving a reliable condition cleanse

I want them to create leagues based on server capacity and involvement. Then do what there doing with EotM and pit them as the same colour. Then, in your match ups, the points are added to create a score. That would eliminate all this massive server stacking as your grouped.

It would require lots of work, but it would be a very strong and balanced system

Doesn’t matter if it’s a survival warrior. It’s bad at all of it because it’s so badly traited and geared. Maximize one thing for maximum output. Full conditions use dire gear, meaning you have huge vitality and toughness along with insane condition damage. Power builds in WvW will go witn Pvt and a mix of trinkets giving the same outcome just with front loaded damage.

That’s not how it works. To put out power damage you need power, critical chance and critical damage. That’s how a power build works. It’s meant to out an opponent from 100% to 0 as fast as possible.

Conditions need just condition damage to be effective, however condition builds is a game of attrition. To wear your opponent down slowly, which mean you need to be a tank. Dire gear makes you that tank. Trying for both actually hinders both sides of the coin.

Power and condition doesn’t work. Choose a power build or condition build. Not both. Defiant stance isn’t good if you want to be tanky, healing signet outshines it. PVT or VPT gear for power, Dire for condition.

Traits are too all over the place.

I’ll give leg specialist a shot, I totally forgot about that trait since it had a cooldown applied.
I’ll probably stick with undead runes as it’s giving a huge boost to my damage while I try to figure out trinkets.
I’m finding I don’t need dogged march, I also find that having middle deflection on sword 5 is a huge, huge opener to ranged classes and pits massive pressure on them from the get go. It’s also a very good way of stoping ranged damage when running.

Bulls charge I would love to take, however I need more practice with high spike thieves before I swap out a stance. So possibly in the future I’ll take it as I LOVE the skill and can open up good opportunities for placing conditions. Chances are I’ll probably swap out undead runes for melandru runes once I have trinkets in place.

Another question. I see lots of people saying the bleed from arms is only 3 seconds, yet I know it scales with condition duration. It’s at 5 seconds for me without trinkets or proper sigils yet, so is some precision worth it for that extra free stack?

I’ve seen the copy/paste answer and it’s not what I was asking. I was asking for feedback. Utilities aren’t great in experience now. So will be opting for zerker stance, endure pain and dolyak signet as I’ve found that spike builds are useless after the first hot, however that first hit usually had me so low I struggled. Endure pain nullified spikes easily and allow me full pressure.

Since conditions are a very popular thing right now I’ve decided to give it a whirl. I’m use to commanding big groups rather than roam in a party but I’ve wanted a change of pace for a while. However, this is very new to me so I’m a little hazy on what balance to look for.

Here is the general gist of the build. Couple of decisions I’d love some help with

1. Rune set
I’m really torn between Lyssa or perplexity. How good is the application of confusion on perplexity and does it outweigh the condition removal and boon application on elite use from Lyssa?

2. Weapon sigils
I’m usually useless at sigil decisions are I always want them all. Sw/sw is pretty much sorted however longbow I’m still torn on. Any thoughts on either would be great.

3. Utilities
Namely bulls charge. I’m a big fan of zerker stance however I like the idea of having a gap closing stun for landing F1 sword and other various skills to put pressure on.

Warrior signet needs risk reward. Doing just healing isn’t enough. It needs to be a case of we have increased defensive capabilities while having zero healing ability.

Active: Heals 30% of your health over 3 seconds, grants protection for 7 seconds.

Scales with healing power and vitality, which might bring bunker warriors into the fray. Having a downtime of 15 ish seconds of healing (yes, that’s off the top of my head) would make it a high risk reward factor. But played right, you can mitigate spikes with quick thinking, then go back to being able to sustain.

I did originally think about 50% of health, a la troll urgent. However I’m not sure if that would be a little to high?

A well executed omega rush can counter optimally-placed trebs. Trebs are very good, but smart play using omegas+mesmers has the advantage.

By all means send me some of those over because I can’t afford golems for every single tower/keep on all maps. That’s the issue. Golems shouldn’t be the only answer to it. Tbey are expensive which means not every server can afford them.

Big emphasis on counter play in previous stream. So I’ll try and focus on that as a core.

1. Conditions being far too potent. Main problem being immobilise.
2. No counter play for trebuchets in keeps.
3. Trebuchet is a counter to every single attack strategy in large keeps, with no draw back to the defensive team. A treb should not be able to hit a gate and do no damage except to something on the other side.
4. Poison cows are too strong for the same reasons as above. Drain supply is too cheap or just too strong in general. Poison is strong enough. Make it so the main treb hit drains a certain amount of supply if hit. Poison drains supply if hitting keep supply.
5. Arrow carts are too strong. We can’t go away from the range because the treb cow will hit and drain supply, yet when we hug, 3 sup arrow carts kill people in seconds.
6. Waypoints need to be looked at. Only allowing certain amount of players in when contested.
7. Limiting golems per map. Only if treb and arrow cart changes go ahead.
8. Immobilise
9. General pass at play/counter-play. I’m big on the ability to creatively counter play scenarios. But some of the above is, and I will go as far to say this, impossible without a massive large scale golem assault. Which some servers just can’t afford.
10. Dead respawn timer set to maybe 5 minutes.
11. Immobilise.
12. Stop superior siege being sellable. Only allow normal siege. Superior is far too common, which doesn’t seem right.

FSP was my first legendary. I love the look of it when it’s active but I feel it lacks when it’s on my back. I’d love a special kind of floor effect that maybe only appears when the shield is not active. I LOVE the idea of krytan words or letter on the floor when standing still. Make it subtle. Amazing suggestion.

However, shield is rarely used in the mass of builds out there. I use a very customzied build in order to use it and my frostfang. Do I love it? Yes. Do I wish it had more versatility in use? Yes! Do I wish I hadn’t gone for looks and maybe overall use and power in builds? I’m still on the fence. Which makes me not as happy as I should be.

Dogged march I would consider on par with cleansing ire. You don’t want your ire to cleanse off movement effects which you should technically be geared for. Bleed, torment, burn, confusion, vulnerability (less extent) are way more important than cripple and chill.

But again, it’s condi based again. All defence runes and food are taken to minimise conditions, yet condi builds can gear hard towards that duration without hinderance.

I think there is a bug with immobilize cleansing. It is ALWAYS the last-out condition it seems, and doesn’t even cleanse right when it should. I say this as an ele who frequently uses ether renewal which removes condis every tick (~0.5s). I get 1 stack of immob on me and nothing else, and it doesn’t cleanse for 2 s or so. If you get an immob on you and have 3 condis on you, immob is usually the last off it seems. If there is a bug, it could explain why immob is so OP.

Sounds crazy and a long shot. Put this exact statement into the bug forum. See if they can investigate it.

Dogged March is hardly a mandatory trait.
Can it be really useful for some specific tasks? Sure. But it’s not like you need it for every build (not even in PvP ones) nor it does clearly outperform every other choice.
Talking strictly about PvP, Cleansing Ire feels A LOT more irreplaceable.

Just for clarification, I used my situation as an example. Cleansing ire is also mandatory which stops other choices such as passive balanced stance and endure pain. While I like choices. Have 4 choices, all of which are essential isn’t the same as having 7 or 8 choices which have an impact but aren’t essential.

Ok, so is it a case that all traits shouldn’t contain any reduction to movement imparting conditions, in which case those conditions can be reduced globally? Maybe even normalised across the board?

Maybe a possible solution is to change condition duration to speed of ticks? So conditions are stack in terms of duration, however the speed in which they do there damage can be increased? In which case you have burst condition builds and slow ticking high damage condition builds?

Yes, I know this is a huge concept, but this is a discussion after all. It seems as though it’s a problem that conditions and their durations are the problem, in which arena bet have given a solution in the form of traits that reduce duration. Which is, in essence, a band aid for the problem?

I agree you could get by without it, however cleansing becomes even more paramount to ensure those snares aren’t bothersome, which again changes my build and traits. I already run full melandru and -40% condi food. I feel it’s bad that conditions are such a massive, massive issues. Namely immobilise, but that’s a different thread.

It seems that mandatory traits do revolve around conditions. So are movement inhibiting conditions a little too good? Would scaling back those allow for less investment into condition cleanse/reduction on such a grand scale?

I like the fact that immobilise would be a CC. Stun breakers would stop that just like all the others which brings good play/counter play.

Arena net talked a HUGE amount on the love stream about this ability to counter play, example being dhunmfire and the likes. Yet there is little to no counter play to immobilise stacking in the way it’s done now.

Make it a CC. Allow stun breaks to clear. Stop the stacking. Gives it a counter play. Arena net logic applied.

"Mandatory" Traits discussion

I almost always play WvW. My gear and build are set up around this sole purpose. I run a shield (not just any, my one true love, flame-seeker prophecies). I use it mainly for blocking damage when hitting a Zerg and popping marks, running through arrow cart fire and a whole heap of different scenarios. I love it.

However, I’m always criticised for doing so because my shield actually gives me very little benefit in terms of trait allocation. And the one, sole reason?

Dogged March.

This, for a warrior, is pretty much classed as a mandatory trait. There’s no denying that in this condition heavy game (which is set to get more intense after the upcoming patch), that it’s needed in order to keep mobile and apply pressure without being kited too easily. However, in order for my shield to actually give me something back. I would need to drop this Mandatory trait and take Shield Master. The reduced cooldown and extra toughness would be fantastic and would be amazing for the build I run, yet cripple me in terms of my movement in mostly any fight.

So here’s the thing. Should mandatory traits exist in the form of this trait? Should players of any class have to take any trait which means they are viable, or without it they crumble? Or is that ok by you guys?

In addition, I’d love to see shield master moved from that line and put into something like arms or even the tactics line. I understand the defence line is all about, well, defence. But it seems any other off hand allows a boost from easily accessible traits, except the shield, due to a supposed mandatory trait that we need.

Why? Have you ever thought about them changing how it works so they can give a little more to things like ascended armor?

Maybe the turn the % in a number and allow critical damage to be into the decimal places? So 100 critical damage turns out to be 1%. So maybe ascended might have 120?

Don’t bother posting until you watch the stream. Your wasting your time.

There’s some really nice ideas here which apply to horizontal progression. Things like animations when idle or different stances with weapons. It’s a good read and I know you’ve taken a lot on of things anyway.

How did you pay for them? If it’s credit card then contact your card supplier. Ask for a refund as you cannot access the items your purchased. That’s what I did, got my money back in 3 days. Credit cards are amazing things.
