Those are some interesting suggestions. Would love to see some new skills/wpns for thief and for all classess at overall
I’ve done this new path with pugs only and we had no probs with it.
For PvE only zerg is viable tbh. If you know your class you don’t need anything else.

- Sigil of Leeching is heals far too little to make it worth having on both swaps, you’d be much better off with a Sigil of Fire or Energy (evades are soon to be a huge part of the new meta, imo).
- Your 10 points into CS for Side Strikes is a waste, you’d be better off dumping the rest into DA for Quick Venoms and the extra 100 Power and higher damage output.
Other than that, solid build.
Venoms? what for? As far as i know Lyssa got ICD 50s so in the end you will get your Lyssa buff more often w/o Quick Venoms. Idk bout the Sigils since I never used them.
Other than that, I prefer S/P.

I was running with this build for maximizing my evasions and it works pretty well. While you know how other classess works you’ll have no problems to timing your evades. Also you got blinds and teleports + PW evade frames.

I actually tried this awhile back. I just shelved the Warrior and made the Thief my main lol.
Shelve classes that can’t face roll escape zergs and kill people gg bet you can’t touch kitten in pve get good nub at least my warrior can be used everywhere l2p from thief means they have no skill they just panic button if they get hit and run like a little kitten I face roll troll people on my thief with the simple avoidance of people 1 v 1 I can kill but lately it’s always 1 v 3-8 and well when u get stunned and immobilized for 8 seconds stealth only does so much when they spam aoe kd cripple and stun when u need to be able to use ur next stealth

You didn’t saw actuall skill description and you shake your kitten in fear lol. You will prolly get revelead debuff from this ranger skill and you can stealth again. I really don’t see a problem in here. Maybe it will force some ppl to actually think while doing their builds and not just go with D/P with facerollin in mind -_-’
Actually thief is pretty good @ sPvP. But there are not so many of them actually good. People are playing thief cause they hear bout stealth OPness and high dmg, but that doesnt mean they are good.
Personally i believe evasion thief is way more powerfull than stealth one. And ofcz S/D one. Funny thing is I saw maybe 2 thieves that were playing really good using S/D.
And tbh D/P thief is weak like hell (like some1 stated above – when you’re in stealth it’s like your team fights -1 guy).
I use valkyrie simpy cause i have 61% crit chance w/o zerk clothes, so i prefer more hp. It saved me many times already when some gank groups tried to catch me off-guard.

About crit haste – probably i’ll change to it also to test it. There’s still much to practice in my case but I really feel very comfortable with this build. If i manage in the future not to waste any doge rolls then I’ll be more than happy
S/P set.
As you can guess this build does not use stealth at all. I dont really know if it’s good for you to begin with but if you get grasp of it then it’s really hard to kill you. Of course it depends on personal skills.
Like some other guy here said i also think that Valkyrie set is way much better than zerk for S/P. You rarely gettin hit anyway but with valkyrie you don’t panic when backstab lands on you (it rarely does anyway).
As for PvE: you’re invincible if you know when to dodge, and with normal mobs you can play with mouse only lol.

“I think double teaming it’s a dishonorable way to play”Watts I’m saying in the post it’s that you server as more opportunities of success in VS map but they chose to attack us. Double team means not get the opportunities the map gives you, in this case the VS T0 towers.
Let me explain you better, a few weeks ago we had match against VS and JS, they completely double team us (JS didn’t took any VS tower in EB map during the week, or do any attack to VS towers), this is double teaming.
After this we had the same match again, and JS completely change is behavior in EB, we can see them attacking us or VS, according to opportunities. I give them my congratulations and they did have a better performance that week.
It’s that so hard to understand watt it means double teaming?
Double teaming = both servers focus their efforts on the 3rd server mainly.

Like some people stated above – you didn’t lost until you’re stomped. If I’m using my character abillities to the fullest you can’t blame me. Also you should learn what “thief” means before askin such questions. It really amazes me how ppl are keeping on with those thief cries and looking for other people to insure them that they are right in their thoughts.

Dude… Deso don’t have coverage like SFR or Vizu so it’s pretty normal we will have poor point-tickin when every1 is at school/work. We are mainly primetimers only. And tbh we don’t rly care.
Still we manage to be in T1 for some time now. And thats what im proud of tbh.
I still don’t get how ppl can get worked out by simple www fights or how one should play to please the other side. Thats a game, not real life with politics, but i see most of you still don’t get it.
I agree. But for a lot of people it’s more than a game and you have 2 sides.
First, the good one, people like on VS who play the game as it has been designed in a competitive way, without friendship between servers but respect.
And the second, the bad one, with people like we can see in this topic, the frustrated and egocentric haters, ready to ruin the game of enemies and mates because they don’t agree with the rules and they don’t like the gameplay of other players.
Trolling is not a big deal, but too many people are mistaking trolling for flaming.
Yeah, I do understand that many ppl are hardcore gamers and they want to accomplish something. Still it’s even less reason to be touched by trollers or flamers. Flamers flame because they can’t hold off anger when they’re loosing. Also because they want to feel they’re special or good in some way. It’s simple like that.
I’m pretty sure that in the future when ppl will flashback to fights in T1 they will say mostly “yeah VZ were great in this and that, i had many good fights with them” than “they were hackers”.

For me (and only for me – others can have diffrrent point of view) Deso dont rly give a kitten about politics or places in tiers. There’s an enemy? Engage then. We have forces mainly in primetime only and honestly we just enjoy the game.
And again – it’s my own point of view. I don’t like some aspects of www but hey – it’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun.

Just did behemot. 20-30 ppl and couldnt launch a skill…. Other’s got same problem. Idk whats happenin but if it will remain i’m assuming many ppl quitting sooner or later.
I also played L2 and even at Sieges where there was over 1-2k ppl i never experienced such lags.
This is honestly the first MMO where i experience such lags/skills issues with not even 100 players…
Guess the engine is bad OR (i think more accurate) the servers are from 19th century.
Same for Desolation – means it’s “world wide”
There are hybrids also.
Anyway there is not holy trinity from the game design/description/wannabe. You don’t have classess that purely goes under those deffinitions. However it was obvious that ppl will be able to use builds to make em more one of the trinity and thats why ppl are saying that there is actual trinity here. And thats how ppl are actually thinking (zerk = dps etc etc). There is nothing wrong in that ofc but at same time GW2 differs from other MMOs in this specific area.

What are you talkin about? Did you rly read what i wrote? I’m talking about Sword Skill #2 that should have range limit of 1200 (Shadow Return) not some utility skill (it has range limit also anyway). So I don’t really get you.
So… after using Infiltrators Strike we can move/shadowstepping even 5-8k of range away from the spot where we used #2 or even far far away. Anyway after pushing the Shadow Return Skill it ports us back to the exact same spot where we used Infiltrators Strike even if it’s 10k range !!! (sometimes even the map is reloading to read again the surrounding of that spot). I think i don’t need to comment how big of advantage thieves can have with this and how it’s exploitable.
I’m a thief myself and i really dont want to give ppl more reasons to hate the thieves. Also it makes my encounter with other thieves using Sword much less enjoyable, cause i know they can use it to simply vanish 10k range away.

The best thing is two days ago it was really not bad, but yesterday whenever there was encounter i could hardly do anything. While 2 days ago i could use skills normally in the middle of 2 zergs clashing that yestarday i had so big delay that it hurted my soul
It’s not only culling issue i believe. Still it’s unacceptable. It’s the very first MMO I play that have problems like this.
I remember while playing L2 and battles with 1k+ ppl. Never had problems like in gw2.
It’s really a pain to try and read with understanding what you wrote. But at overall – you are mostly comparing warrior to guardian but you avoid to mention the supportivness of a guardian (heals/baffs). And in long run guardian is much more stable class than a warrior.
Ofc that’s my opinion as a thief since i have much more probs with a decent guardian than a decent warrior.
But ofc ppl want the game to be as easy as breathing
This blanket comment here is completely unfair to those with valid concerns. It’s also extremely disrespectful. Most players don’t want everything handed to them. This idea often stems from a misunderstanding of some of the concerns.

I’m using allmost same build since a month or so and i wouldn’t change for anything diff ever atm. Tho i mainly use S/D to control opponents and doin dmg. #2 is so awesome if you use it properly that opps rarely do you any dmg. And when they start to run i just swith to P/P and finish them off with unload
It’s rly fun couse its not GC and you still do alot of dmg with sword. Doing 1v2 or v 3 aint so scary if you can control your thief properly.

After playing a thief for the first 10 levels, I can say with certainty that the ability to spam weapon skills makes them OP. No other class can spam a single move constantly other than their autoattack. That’s the the only problem I see as of right now.
Way to fix the weapon skills, I’d say a very small recharge time should be added to each one. As in, maybe equal to the amount of initiative they require. Makes it so like other classes, you can’t spam the weapon skills, and it’s insignificant enough to where I don’t think it’d be able to affect how the class does things.

Also thief can place the bombs solo while the rest is waiting w/o fighting with mobs. Thats the easiest part tbh. Ofcourse if you are one of those thiefhaters then u dont have this option
If you gonna stay in stealth for alot of time to take full use of “durng stealth” skills, then it will mostlikely reset the whole combat :/ And i wasn’t talkin bout surv. I was talkin bout defense. Stealth atm provides us with an ability to “dodge” hits so we can stay in combat. As you did convinced me with the wpns somehow, i still have some worries bout defense at all. And again i dont mean surv, i mean defense during combat.
If you limite the access on the amount of stealth, you also need to buff certain stealth related things.
For instance backstabs need to do much more dmg to not kitten up the constant dps of thieves, but at the same time it will promote burst builds too much.
Or you buff the autoattack which again will turn the thief into an autoattack class.
Or you buff other skills like heartseeker which again will promote spamming just that one skill.Stealth itself and the revealed debuff is nothing else but a hidden cooldown system which is tacked onto the init system of the thief. Hence stealth related attacks are often stronger as the skills which only need initiative.
Thieves just lack alot of usefull skills on nearly all of their weapons and only stealth and the related attack from stealth is pretty viable. (if we dont consider the Unicorn-build)
Thieves also lack protection/aegis/regeneration/condition removals/invulnerability which stealth tries to offset and only succedes with the shadowarts tree.If you want to take such a big step to double the duration on stealth and the revealed buff, you would need to revamp the whole class from scratch as stealth is just too much tied into the whole class to be viable in PvE and PvP.
Exactly. Thats the other thing bout stealth. It’s main defensive skill for thieves and if u reduce it, we will die alot simply couse of lack HP and defense if we want to do decent dmg. Also many of our traits works during stealth or when using it. You will destroy the whole class by nerfing stealth and thinkin only to “redo” wpn skills.
A bad idea as it would turn the thief into using nearly only autoattacks and would gimp their DPS which would make them even less desired in PvE.
P/D right now requires you to hit the enemy with CnD to apply any damage at all, with your suggested change they will only autoattack.
S/D equals P/D in its playstyle, but instead of ranged condition, it tries to control an enemy on melee range, it would turn into autoattackign only aswell.
D/D – direct dmg would be pretty gimped if you dont go with a burst build. With a more survival build you would try to stealth often and apply backstabs often, with your suggested change you couldnt do that and thieves would turn into autoattack thieves.
Shortbow would profit from that change alot and I predict that this change would result in thieves mainly using shortbows or going with the insta-gib burst build.
D/P would spare some init for stealthing but it would turn that weaponset into autoattack spamming aswell as you cant apply constant dmg with backstabs anymore.
P/P would gain stealth but hardly profit from it. Unload is direct damage while the sneak attack from P/x is condition damage. It might end up with an interesting gameplay for that weaponset but its hard to say if it would be worth it.
Most of the sets that use Stealth so much RIGHT NOW only auto-attack. With a wait of 8 seconds until using the stealth again you have to get creative with your other skills.
Like I said, I’ve been experimenting a bit of how this situation would be with my P/D and I’ve been doing fairly well with my P/D, getting a lot of use from the dual skill (and discovering how amazing it’s, it’s super fast, faster than most melee attacks so you will avoid them, and hits really hard for the initiative cost, something I didn’t realize before because of how CnD was keeping all my initiative, with an ocasional Dancing Dagger to cripple a running foe).
Ye but they do auto-attack after an action. Also u are describing ONE weapon set, when there are people with diffrent setups. Like i said before main problem for allmost every wpn set is that there are useless skills that are ini eaters only and dont provide any strategist actions, simply couse they’re broken or just extremely weak. Thats why stealth is crucial for fighting. If it wouldnt be like that, then i see no prob to nerf it at all.
