Seriously if you want to kill every single mob in a dungeon please join a group that intends to do so. And you are complaining about time constraints? You are kidding, right?

If Anet does what you suggest, I think their mailbox will be full with complaints in no time at all.

And if you think all players should get hit, then a boss room also solves the problem. Give all bosses an AoE attack. 360 degrees attack with variety of damages, so that it doesn’t one -shot everyone. And, make the boss continuously spawn minions. So, even if you managed to dodge all the boss’s attack, you still cannot avoid getting hit from the minions. Problem solved.

Dont we already have this in GW2? His name is Project Alpha.

More often than not I run without a mesmer, although I am usually on my guardian which probably compensates for that. It’s perfectly doable without a mesmer, and in some cases it’s been easier.. not sure why.. just the DPS was good I guess.

Its because of Time Warp. You can hit it when your team is being overwhelmed to clear as many as possible before next wave spawns or when u need to res 2 downed teammates quickly.

Not to take anything from Warriors or Guardians but a lot of warriors I play with are glass cannons and cant dodge in time. On the other side of the spectrum, you have a few Guardians that are pure support builds with little DPS.

As for mesmers well, lets just say I dont think shatter and/or glass cannon builds work well for this part or mesmers who dont use focus.

And I love a discussion about ethics and philosophy in a video game especially in PVE. I mean all the non-exploiters must be the most upright people in real life right? Maybe there should be an ethics sim for philosophy majors/minors. Call it Ethics Wars or something.

Ah well two wrongs dont make one right BUT I would love to NOT:
1) Automove while picking up environmental / looting
2) Use a move skill (if I happen to have one equipped) to get unstuck because for no apparent reason I cant move in the middle of combat. (Not chat etc. the usual reasons)

Also isn’t glitching/exploiting exploring the entire map for easter eggs etc? I found a Youtube video that shows a secret area in CM which is apparently an unfinished / abandoned puzzle

Funny why the OP doesnt complain about CoF being boring and god forbid, mind numbingly easy. However I kind of agree about the HP portion that they are slightly too high, it takes a fully zerked up team a few more minutes to kill bosses as opposed to CoF bosses (with the exception of miniboss 2 path 3 who I agree with that has far too much health). And seriously how difficult or fun is Gigantus Lupicus when u have figured out the strategy to killing him.

Shaman is a cakewalk compared to Cliffside arm seals. Try pugging it with no heavies or without leaving one alive on either side. I am surprised why more people dont cry foul on that one.

The strategy is to equip condition removals skills asap and reflection if u have them (not all classes have them). Kill the elementals as they spawn. As a mesmer I can use my focus to group the elementals together with “Into the Void” and use Phantasm Warden

There are way more new people than veterans. If you run a dungeon pug a lot, you end up with a lot of newbies. I don’t mind teaching, but some days I just want a quick run and to get in and out. The day teaching newbies starts giving me gold for my legendary , you can all queue up and I’ll teach every last one of you.

I noticed this wasnt the case for COF until recently after the new year. And I am not an elitist gamer; far from it. I dont mind finishing COF path 1 in 15 min or less (my definition of a non-farm “speed run”) with soldier gear warriors/guardians or no heavies (simply because none of my levelled characters have heavy armor although they are stacked with full berserker gear) as compared to a 5-6 min 4 warriors and 1 mesmer.

Wheres the perma Greatsword 360 swing?

Moral of the story: If you have terrible RNG in general eg never an exotic drop in hundreds of Claw of Jormag chests AND didn’t get precursors in your two karka chests, forget about precursor etc drops in fractals. Never going to happen. And I scoff at the player who mentioned in another thread that in every COE run, he gets at least one Charged core. And fractal weapons skins? What fractal weapon skins?

Nevertheless the lodestone and core drops are decent enough and I do need exotic power toughness crit armor that apparently cannot be found any place else. However the ascended ring drops for dailies have been kind to me although I dont do a lot of fractals.

Yes! No newcomers should be allowed to do CoF. It has now forever been determined a speed/farming dungeon. Anet needs to put up a sign out front that says “No nubs allowed” And they will be instantly killed if they have less than full exotics on.

Actually not about gear/class/traits/lvl etc. or DPS to a certain extent (since u do need a fair amount to out DPS path 1 boss), its about knowing how to clear the dungeon. Newbies tend not to say that it is their first time and when its time to stand and stay within the pillar’s AOE to open the gate, they do not understand what to do. Some still do not understand even after attempts to explain. I didnt mind doing that for the 1st two months of release but when PUGers read speed runs on Gw2lfg.com, they should have knowledge of the dungeon since the majority of us nubs are there for the daily tokens/easy and fast gold.

Not wanting to sound too antisocial, but the newcomers to GW2 have to understand that COF is the designated farm dungeon for ppl to get their daily tokens (for gear and ecto salvage purposes) and farm for gold in speed runs. I dont mind explaining once or twice per every few days to people the tactics for COF but not every run.

The main problem with this dungeon is that the loot was TOO RANDOM. I’ve seen people who had like 10 exotics a day, while other’s didn’t even get one after 20+ runs. It’s hard to call it just a luck if someone gets on average 1 exotic per 3 runs while someone else gets 1 exo per 20 runs…

Err try 0 generic orange text items in 40 runs. Wasnt expecting the Mad moon, Crossing etc. as mentioned. If I got it great; if not ok. And it seems that quite a few got 2 these Halloween skins in a few runs.

Tons of chests opened. Both mad kings and black lion chests… nothing valuable. Did the dungeon lots of times. Nothing more than a few greens and blues.
A few people didn’t get kitten while doing this quite hardcore while some who only did it like twice or 3 times and got exotics and skins both from chests and dungeon. I know it’s RNG and yes I think RNG sucks big time and yes I know I didn’t have to participate but it’s kinda hard not to… and yes I’m cranky like a little girl.

Are little girls inherently cranky? I tot old men are. But hey whatever. Everybody gets a handout but me; its ok.

1) ‘seems foolish to say that, but they are called exotics because they are not common but rare and outstanding. That’s what makes them valuable and desired. You want the majority (I will consider your concern coms from altruism) to obtain one of them. This is a contradiction. Same for the simple rare items, just take out the outstanding.

Not for the vast majority of the people who posted in this thread in their MK runs it would seem. Maybe I should use terms like yellow text items and orange text items in the future to avoid confusion.

To summarize: RNG isnt broken if you got exotics. It is if u didn’t. If I bought a die and rolled it 40 times, I would expect it get a 6 at least once. If not, I would expect the die to be rigged or faulty in some way.

And to repeat: My definition of rare as it is in game = yellow. Exotic = generic exotic not Greatsaw etc. So as to prevent confusion.

Interesting how some players heap praise on it comparing the content released to other MMOs who don’t. This is my first MMORPG ever and dont plan on playing other MMORPGS in the near future and I have to say I am perfectly fine without Halloween, happier even.

Maybe my expectations are more in line with traditonal solo RPGs where grind/skill gave u definite rewards.

A. For me IMHO event isnt fun, just another boring grind. B. Loads of ppl getting at least generic exotics from MK runs, but not me makes it pointless. C. Never really like Mario, unless he is smashing other ppl or in a go kart

I thought all of the events associated were fine except for the clock tower, which had the difficulty scaled way too high for what is supposed to be a fun holiday event.

However, I felt that the drop rate on the Hallowe’en goodies was extremely bad and very disappointing. It’s led to profiteering by people who are selling the extremely rare skins for 50+ gold now. I’m not against capitalism but I felt that this was supposed to be a fun event to do on a lark and get a couple of items to remember it by. It doesn’t seem appropriate to turn it into a gold grab by lucky players.

I would have liked to have gotten a weapon skin to play about with.

Funny I thought capitalism encompassed more than just lotteries or “lotteries” that DISfavored a few. And the other events apart from MK get a “meh” from me at best. And I am not into jumping puzzles at all, even if the payoff is an exo.

And btw off topic CM story is bugged preventing completion. Add that to my list of complaints.

Angelus, are u a dev? No one is forcing u to read these posts, unless u are a troll. If u dont like complaint posts, read the hundreds of other topics in the forum, especially the ones that say they love the GW2 Halloween event.

My suggestion would be to make MK a lot harder to kill with a nice fixed reward and a variable component to get the uber gear akin to a regular dungeon but then again a lot of other players would be complaining to nerf MK.

Anet also has diminishing returns implemented on those, while there doesn’t seem to have been one in the MK dungeon.

Also, there aren’t very many valuable items to get in the regular game other than precursors. In the Halloween event, there were many new drops in the 10g-50g range available.

Yup but there are 3×6 dungeons daily. And if I wasnt getting a generic exo, I wasnt likely to get the new drops. It is possible to get generic exos from the regular dungeons.

If I wanted to play Mario, I would play Mario. And no the whole event is just another grind to me, not in the least bit of fun at all.

I wonder: does Anet do a check of the RNG and compile the stats to check if its working properly or least as close to pure randomness as possible?

Its not a conspiracy, its a programming feature of RNG.

And at least generic RNG dungeon chests at least rewards u with yellows once in a while.

Re: LordYz post. This is my point exactly. In your case, LordYZ, I deem u to be v lucky. However most people I met got at least a generic exotic.

The RARE I was referring was simply Yellow and above; not super exotic like the crossing etc. Didnt even get a single YELLOW from MK chests, Lab Chests etc.

I bought this game and I do enjoy it. If I don’t like the ADDITIONAL “free content” and certain people telling me GW2 is not my game, I can choose to ignore them and play it the way I want to. I object to getting horrible chest drops in comparison to what seems like the majority of the other customers.

I was referring to a generic exotic, much less The Mad Moon etc Halloween speciality exotics. And I have read people, albeit a few which is line with expectations, getting those like twice in 40 runs. A lottery doesnt reward what seems like 75% people with “consolation prizes” of exotics and the rest nothing.

Ran MK 40 times and got zip nada and I have read many people getting exotics all the time. Some even the Crossing etc etc the 2nd time.
