There are quite a few buildings in GW2 and not much content happens in them which is a shame IMHO.
Only content I can think of is Season 2 in Durmand Priory and Caudecus Manor.
Bria’s Manor seems like a nice easter egg though.
Bad design or not, it is very hard to argue with 1 of the most profitable G/h farming locations, if not the most.
Is there a webpage for GW2 concerts or performances of players using in-game instruments?
If you are doing map completion in wvw while the maps have queues, you will rightfully be told to GTFO.
Other than that I see no problem with people doing map completion, have fun!
Players doing map completion in WvW, even during queues, have just as much right to be there as anyone else since it is indeed required for map completion. If you don’t like that perhaps you should lobby for removal of WvW from the map completion requirement.
You have the right to do map completion in WvW. You do not have a right to be shielded from being (correctly) told that you are a liability for the server.
I am astonished at people calling for reporting and banhammer over some words. If they aren’t trolling, they may have even thinner skin than children.

WvW is about tactical ability sometimes and not who has the slightly bigger blob. Not that servers have any incentives to win recently.
So will flying be available in WvW or PvP?

Warrior was roughly 30% better DPS prior to April 2014, when it’s seen tons of damage nerfs since then. During this time, it was only possible to kill Lupicus on a warrior in under 4 minutes with close to 0 mistakes and perfect RNG. The very best kill time back then was 4:08 on a warrior. Even back then, ele was miles ahead of warrior in DPS and not only because of FGS.
Because every boss is a giant sized boss in which meteor shower and ice bow’s every projectile will hit.
Solo Kholer for example and post a Youtube of your record time on ele pls.
Testing on an immobile golem? Not ideal for sustained DPS in real situations i think. But I would like to see the actual numbers for the optimized DPS for both if someone can provide the link. Even if ele pulls ahead in DPS it wont be that significant.
Back to might stacking, in order to maintain 25 stacks of might if the boss doesnt die in 20s, the ele has to rely on a second ele for continous might stacking, otherwise face a big loss in DPS.
In a group ideal setting, in theory MM necro has the highest DPS with a conjured weapon from the ele.
*Warrior is higher then both ele and thief. So there is that. *
After those 3 it’s a toss up, but I know which isn’t there. Necro’s cause their last.
Lmfao
I’m cringing for you right now. Warrior has literally trash DPS, even with full ascended berserker everything with scholar and truffle steak + mighty or precision infusions.
They’ve been struggling for over half a year now. Time to wake up, people!
How is Ele sustained DPS high especially after FGS nerf? If they are might stacking, their DPS decreases even more as opposed to phalanx warrior which has a slightly less DPS output especially at lower level dungeons whilst easily maintaining 25 might stacks on all, not to mention Empower buff.
Ele’s DPS is only number 1 when it comes to structures or very large bosses.
As for thief DPS, only kicks in when enemy’s HP goes down to less than 50%. Before that very subpar DPS.
Actually a staff ele has the highest personal DPS in the game unless we’re talking single target DPS, which thief is slightly higher. This is just with lava font + fireball as well, not even referring to rotations involving meteor shower + ice bow.
If you consider the ele’s capability of an opening burst by prestacking to 25 might, using glyph of storms for 25 vuln, and using ice bow followed by meteor shower… it’s without question that eles are the best of all classes for damage.
Warrior sustained DPS is at least top 3 if not best i think in general. Not every boss goes down in seconds with prestacked 15-20s of 25 might even with 25 stacks of vulnerability.
Meteor shower and ice bow – large AOE and dependent on immobile mobs. Staff ele is slow.

You’re really going there, Pulsarian? Really?
Since he already went there, there should be more Hispanic themed festivals as well as it is the fast growing demographic in the USA. Not sure abt Canada though. No objections here as well.
I am all for a MLK Civil Rights festival in GW2 to cater for the NA market. As well as Memorial Day.
As long as they add more content and make it fit within GW2 universe and make nice skins more power to the devs.
I liked the PS but really hated Season 1 LS.
Would it offend and shock the OP that Koreans celebrate Lunar New Year as well with an occasional variance of 1 day?
P.S Nvm someone brought this up. Not to mention the Vietnamese, Tibetians and Mongolians.

I take it the ppl objecting dont like the Imperial outfit or the crimson lion skins.
Better to just quit a losing match early on and roll until u get into a team with pro players to carry you.
Its a win-win all around. If the team sucks, the match ends early for the team and saves everyone time. If you suck, you don’t drag the team down.

Do Silverwastes and map hop for VW daily for 1-2hrs. It should net u 400G in 3 months tops.
Lovestruck is now 2 BL keys, why not zodiac?
I dare you to out damage ice bow lighting storm and meteor shower while pumping out lava fonts infact if you can even deal half the damage an ele can deal in a 12 second period ill be impressed ele can melt a hole thru the map. If you think your dealing “nearly” as much damage as an ele i beg you to really look at all their multi hit skills. my ele always does no less than 1/3rd of the parties damage in any party im the only ele simple as that.
That is only for large bosses – now that area for meteor shower has increased, DPS has decreased. Try outDPSing warrior on Tazza.
It seems like no one runs Phalanx warrior with a sigil of strength on their GS and runes of strength. I regularly give 25 stacks on my own and not lose DPS on rotating for blast finishers.
Actually they should get ppl who know how to glitch maps etc to be beta testers and not popular streamers etc. The purpose of beta testing to flush out any possible exploits and bugs and not for publicity purposes or for people to get an early access advantage.
No, but it would have for example a streak of 5 6s quite frequently, and a streak of 10 6s would still not be a super rare anomaly either.
The fact that we have people that have had absolutely no drops during their 1000 hours of playing, and people who have had 10 drops during the same time tells us that Anets algorithm is truly random and that they do not use any streak-breaking algorithms (but maybe they should).
If a streak of 5 6s occur frequently, wouldnt you say the algorithm is faulty? The question is what is the threshold though.
We were talking about MMOs, so “frequently” could be as few as one in a thousand and it would still stick out like a sore thumb, like this thread is.
Well it is a good question to ask statisticians: If streaks of 5 6s are frequent, whereas 1,2,3,4,5 do not have or have infrequent streaks in an equal distribution in a large sample size, would the RNG or dice roll be considered truly random?
Since we are on the subject, why do some single player non online games with RNG have the same results immediately after loading / save skitten, and different when some additional action or turn is taken?
Some games have simple forms of RNG that can cause this to happen.
I have emulated some console games on computer with programs that had savestates, which save just about every variable (way more than normal saving does) and allow you to save and load anywhere in the game as if you had never stopped. In those cases most PS1 games I tried always gave the same results for the same actions done after loading.
However, I highly doubt any triple A MMO will use such simple systems, and there are saves or savestates to be abused. If GW2 had such simple systems people would probably have found ways to exploit them by now. I do not recall any single player game released in the last 5 years that showed this behaviour using normal saves either, but granted I don’t play a lot of new games lately.
Edit: edited for citation failure
Heh this occurs in Xcom: Enemy Unknown a recent AAA tactical game as well. Not sure if they patched this or not. Of course this would not happen in a MMO.
I took the 6s as an example. Could use any one number instead and my point would still remain.
The point is, in a large sample size, streaks happen, and they happen a lot more frequently than people generally think they do.
That was the purpose of my exercise I posted, about listing a “random” sequence of 1s and 0s and comparing it to one generated by a random number generator. This is a classic exercise by math teachers to show how people misinterpret randomness.
In most cases, people make their own “random” sequences with very little or no streaks of 5 or 6, which are almost guaranteed to happen in a truly random sequence of say, 100 numbers.
In a large sample size, streaks do happen but infrequently if your measure is one streak in a few thousand numbers. If it happens say once in every 100 numbers, wouldnt you say the RNG is not truly random?

This doesn’t mean “lucky accounts are a thing.” This means your guildie is representative of an outlier. Nothing more.
You know what the TS should do? Get all the guildies to give all their yellows or pay the lucky guildie to do the dice rolling for them.
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
sigh
You guys are a perfect example of how people perceive “randomness”. You think randomness means everything is distributed equally. It’s doesn’t, so stop thinking like that.
True randomness means there needs to be some extremely “unlucky” streaks, and some extremely “lucky” streaks. If there weren’t, it would not be truly random.
I’ll give you a good exercise that might or might not open your eyes.
Write down a series of 0s and 1s in what you think is a truly random sequence. Make it long enough, say for example 100 numbers.
Then, start up excel and enter this formula:
=ROUND ( RAND ( ) ; 0)
And copy it through 100 cells.
Let me know your observations when you compare your own “random” sequence and the computer generated random sequence.
Finally, I would like to say true randomness in an MMO probably isn’t the best way of handling progression and loot. A good system would be random, but would also include a so-called “streak-killer” algorithm, that would cut (at least) bad streaks eventually, guaranteeing a “hit” after enough “misses”.
Well if the chances of each possibility is equal, then you should have an equal distribution in a large sample.
The issue is that every participant in the lottery is aggregated so who are the winning and losing outliers will cancel each other out.
A truly random RNG wont have frequent long streaks like rolling 10 6s consecutively, 10 5s, 10 4s, etc in 60 rolls as an extreme example.
Hrrrmn. As an addendum to the above, you could go ahead and make the legendary, then sell it for the cash to buy another legendary you actually want.
that is a good idea actually. Shame that it has to involve additonal TP fees though.
What if you get an account bound precursor from daily and you have already crafted the legendary?
Even if the exotic chests from the dailies could drop precursors, they are not account bound.
Are you sure about that? Every other named exotic that is not account bound usually are account bound by opening the chest.
I should put up a screenshot.
What if you get an account bound precursor from daily and you have already crafted the legendary?
I suggest making it permanent on weekends.
I always wondered why some video game designers never reveal the actual designed probability of rare item loot drops, esp in MMOs. If I am not mistaken (I dont play D3), in Diablo 3 rare item loot drops chances are publicly disclosed.
IRL lotteries and gambling chances are also required to be disclosed by law in most countries that do not ban gambling, if I am not mistaken.
In case anyone is interested, I am not mad because I lost. In fact the score need not even be close as long as my team knows the basics of how to play their class and the PVP map mechanics they are on.
You have 11 desertions in unranked arena. If those desertions happened before last Tuesday then they probably lowered your rating quite a bit. This would explain why you are getting matched with players with a skill level lower than you expect.
Desertions no longer modify MMR, so this won’t happen any more, but for some players the damage is already done. Keep playing and it will gradually move you upward.
Except I will keep getting paired with the same noobs and not against the noobs. 11 desertions in 128 games isnt that many and not all of them are voluntary. Probably a few due to crashes.
I think I will pass and play PVP only when my guild calls or the daily rewards includes the rank points and a cap point to avoid unnecessary aggravation on my part.
The old system solo Q wasnt perfect but induces much less rage.
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
On that subject, when can I take a G loan in GW2?
Same here. My win ratio is 1 game won in every 3 games as opposed to 1 in every 2 games ever since the new matchmaking for solo Q.
My team always seem to comprise of random solo Qs with low level alts which is a good indication they are not experienced in their characters or PVP.

If those highly ranked players feel like RQing because they have to carry one noob; imagine what at a best average player feels when at least 2 of the rest of the team are noobs and the other team aren’t. Even if my solo Q win ratio tanked as badly as my attachment shows.

RNG is never meant to guarantee something to happen other than a random chance of luck. The idea is that the chance is so low that if it ever happened in your life, the feeling makes you feel special and good (or lucky XD). No one should ever rely on luck to achieve something they really want. Just like in RL you get a job to accumulate wealth (or grinding in dungeon for gold) and occasionally buy lottery with your excess money (mystic forge) for luck. Unless you aim to be a professional gambler and want to live in casino. Even those pros rely on their gambling techniques but not luck.
People play games wanting to get rewards for sure. So just add other ways to achieve those goals and leave RNG as it is. If you change RNG and guarantee success, I can see a lot of people just sit there rolling the dies and not actually playing the game XD.
If you are just grinding in dungeons for gold, you are doing it wrong. Maybe its fine if you have a speedrunner guild that has a set schedule but in general it is just better to do SW. Gambling techniques only minimize the chances of losing but not all of it. There are many pros that go flat broke as well.
As for how the rich accumulate wealth in RL, well lets just say thats not how capitalism works.
There are places where the RNG is a good mechanic, and other places where it is bad. Good where only junk and lower level stuff will drop, since it doesn’t really matter.
But it becomes bad, if you as a player start working on getting valuable items off the RNG by repeating actions over and over and feeding valuable resources that are consumed in the process. If that is the only way to get it or a (seemingly) viable way. It educates people to gamble. It educates childs to gamble. No exactly educating, but it tells young people and childs that gambling is a normal and a valid way to get stuff – which it is not.
Don’t get me wrong: I am not of the religious or pious type for which gambling is devil’s sent. I was simply raised by parents who never gambled and lived this. Whenever I asked for lottery tickets or the like, my parents told me it’s a waste of time and money. The odds to get something valuable are so low that a return of investment is not possible. They showed me the fate of people who gamble or are addicted to gambling: they are usually broke. They spend their money and get nothing in return. Now I am a grown up of 46 years, have seen some parts of the world, and I can confirm: yes, my parents were kitten right.
So I would like to ask: don’t use the RNG in places where it is used like a one-armed bandit to get stuff. We all know videos of the lost people in casinos who have a large bag of coins and are putting them into the slot machines and pull the lever hour after hour, day after day. Don’t educate childs to do something similar, for example in the mystic forge. Or in the shop with the black lion chests.
If I had childs, I would not allow them to play Guild Wars 2. In all friendship and honesty: no, the way the RNG is used in GW2 isn’t for minors, because minors don’t yet know the value of things, time and resources. The ESRB does not seem to see this aspect in games and rate games not according to it, but I do.
(Now you can laugh at me)
RL is RNG. There are millions of people who play the lottery who aren’t “addicted” to it. Same goes for people who gamble recreationally. I always wonder about the psychological motivations about people who are so opposed to RNG who are not religiously inclined. Perhaps they have relatives who are gambling addicts or some just hate “unearned” wealth (which involves 0% element of luck involved) in general.
I do agree with one thing though – I would love it if GW2 was rated to a more mature audience so that plotlines need not cater to the adolescent demographics.

Would you continue to preform a RL activity if you were told that you’d be payed on a random day sometime in the future?…
Depends on the payout itself doesnt it? You would be surprised at the number of people who would take such a deal for say a Ferrari.
Personal story is underrated imho with all its interwoven branches.
What’s up with the deliberate misspellings and typos?
At least be consistent and apply the same style to the signature.
Honestly couldn’t tell who is voicing Zoija as it would not be an actor’s natural voice.

Well I am all for noob and nub friendly classes and builds.
Which is why I play Turret Engi, Minion Master Power Necro, Poison PU Mesmer and Power Ranger.
Sigil of Air + Sigil of Frailty (potentially 20stacks of 10s vulnerability; on average 15stacks) on longbow + full zerker traits and gear. I even have lightning reflexes traited to 48s.
If I was skillful I might even put on rune of infiltration for maximum damage.
The burst is ridiculous and that is not counting a hound for damage and knockdown.
Never asked for a nerf b4 but seriously this buff for pve really unbalanced pvp ranger in my limited pvp experience opinion.

Does Anet want to compete or not? I never got in that other MMORPG but I am going to watch Twitch streamers play it – looks like fun.
And its PVE content.
…
Ughh I am saying that people are complaining because they want a hard to get item. Please link a few threads where people are complaining about common items the like stinger, ugly stick etc being to hard to get. At best youll find threads complaining about loot being too low of value
It is statistically more likely to NEVER get a Teq’s hoard because it is account bound. I don’t really care if it is ascended or not – I just want the skin. The only good thing about Teq is that it is fun, easy and quite fast and nets you a good chunk of karma and dragonite and a bit of bloodstone dust and G (more in the 1st daily run).
Guess my luck was used up in getting fractal dagger and fractal sword although imho they have been superceded by the chaos weapon skins.
If you do, do you mind posting a screenshot of it? No achieves, or rewards – just for the bragging rights of being an unlucky masochist.
A question I would like to ask GW veterans – up to this point in time after many years have you not been able to obtain any skin or item because of RNG?
It occurred to me that I could be playing GW2 the rest of the game’s life and doing Teq daily and I would never see a Teq’s Hoard.
I simply want the skin, in addition to the other skins available in the game via grinding. It is really frustrating that some skins are locked behind RNG that would effectively prevent players from accessing them ever.
I am fine with minis and tonics restricted by RNG however – those are fun items and not used by the player character extensively in their normal play.
I am ok with a non mandatory subscription if there is at least a new quality dungeon every month on top of the farm content updates.
…
Those world boss guilds weren’t Anet’s doing. They were the work of people taking initiative because they wanted to accomplish something. They’re not mystical or extraordinary. They’re people who make things happen.
Teq is infinitely easier to organize than triple wurm.
