I find myself playing the living story despite not wanting to.
I’d much rather work on other areas of the game, but because living story is time constrained, I feel I have to play it if I want the time-limited rewards.
And that kind of sucks.
Living story has sucked out the relaxed, casual experience the game used to have. Now the game just feels like a bunch of tasks and assignments with deadlines.

GW2 has the least grind of all commercial AAA MMOs I’ve played. As for GW1, let’s not forget the amount of money or time it took to fill the HoM, let alone max Luxon. But it was all well spent.

As mentioned in the other threads, I dont mind this last tier grind if ascended was easy as or slightly harder to obtain as an exotic. I have 1 of every class and each have multiple weapons and armor. I dont even have full ascended accessories/backpacks on all them.

I dont mind ascended being the last tier of gear but the amount of time to get ONE is ridiculous, much less multiple sets of every weapon for every class.
I wonder what the staff meeting for this decision was like. I would be happy to point the finger at NCSoft if that was the case.

I like GW2 when it was much simpler.. When we only needed either crafting or karma or tokens, from just whatever type of content we want, when we want it and still get BiS equipment without so much hassle.
I chose GW2 because I thought the grind was gonna only gonna be cosmetic.
Most importantly G can reduce some of the grind. Not now though. You MUST do certain time-consuming things in order to get BiS gear.

Anyway. It seems the road to ascension is not a road I care to travel, due to all the speed bumps and grinding of gears required. What else ya got, anet?
Tequatl Rising, I’m guessing, is the next thing. With potential for further revamps of other major world bosses based on their feedback from players tackling that one.
I care less about Ascended gear this week and more about SAB and much more about Tequatl two weeks from now.
Not looking forward to anything from Anet right now. Put up with class nerfs in PvE, tons of inconvenience, bugs, poor design etc. But this gear grind is seriously making me want to uninstall GW2 from my hard disk.

People that think this is “content” have not come from any real MMO. Maybe a Facebook game or an asian grinder. But this stuff is about quantity, not quality… but that’s how America seems to be tuned these days.
I feel sad for people who think this is the best it can be.

most of the times when i say something negative (which is very often because what exactly are we getting with every patch that isn’t LS related? serious question, what?), i tell you why i dislike it… if you’re too blind to see it, that’s your problem.
We know you don’t like it. You’ve never liked it. You’ve made that abundantly clear over the last ten months. Yet here you are, still telling us all that you don’t like it. The only explanations for that sort of behavior I can think of are:
– You’re a troll.
– You’re a viral marketer for one of ArenanNet’s rivals.
– You’re a miserable person who feels the need to spread your misery to others.
No one else – not a single soul – outside of those three options would have stuck around to while and complain on a near-daily basis about a game they don’t and have never enjoyed. You’re Exhibit A in the case for this forum needing an Ignore function.
That was pretty deep. Should write a book or something.
Actually people complain because they care. If they didn’t, it would be “see you later, maybe never”.

Honestly I don’t see the need for a LFG tool. I have no problem getting groups with my guild and from what I have seen pugs are pretty abundant as well because it’s easy enough to find a group of 5 like minded individuals looking to run the same dungeon.
No. HOTW was never popular. Try finding people for story mode dungeons. And Guildies are rarely on the same time schedule.
When COF P1 was popular, sometimes it took me at least 20 min to get a party because there is no queue system. Maybe the LFG tool doesnt require a queue system now that there is no content popular enough that would cause party form requests to be pushed into the next page within a minute.
P.S. And abt the NA/EU thing. Lets just say everyone’s time will be saved by not having people choose the wrong region or dungeon.

What I mean is the crafting XP that you were supposed to get while crafting at lvl 400 which you should have gotten if there wasnt a crafting level cap.

Even better, you will need to talk to people. It will not be automated and teleport you to the dungeon, or whatever said place you are searching for.
AGREED I’m glad to see that it wasn’t just a “click button… wait… get ported to dungeon… do dungeon.. the end”. I’m glad it’s more or less the same as GW1 but with incresed functionality.
Well some of us like to play games not for socializing. Dont see the big deal when you type LFG in map chat during zerg farming and get on with the business of farming instead of chatting with your new farm buddies.

I wish there was an upgrade option for existing gear for exotics esp celestial. I have already made 6 pieces of celestial and I would imagine ascended celestial would require more charged quartz.

I don’t get players……they farm hours and hours to get ton of gold just to buy armor sets and legendary weapon to just play dress up with.Its just armor with different design and color.Weapons with different design and colors.Just to make you pretty.And if you think that farming 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 hours just to get that kind of gear will make people think that you are hard working or should be respected.Well, all i can say is lol.
You could always invest via TP to make gold. A lot of people pay money IRL to customize their stuff such as cars etc.

Now mind you the Ancient Karka remains the worst because it was buggy and laggy and a FPS slideshow.
This event kills my desire to play GW2. Why? Here’s the reasons:
1. If you log on to do an event and it’s past 10 min after, just give up, you won’t be able to get into an overflow with an active invasion. Yes, you can just “wait an hour and do something else” but realistically, an hour is not enough time to do anything actually productive and fun, but too long to just sit around waiting for the next invasion. It makes me just want to log off instead and say screw it.
2. AFK’ers in the overflows often cause failures to the event, which don’t progress your achievements so that you can do the gated content or work towards the tonic.
3. The lack of a schedule to the maps means whenver I log on to see what zone is being invaded, it’s often a zone I’ve already done. I have sparkfly, harathi, fireheart, and dredgehaunt cliffs done. That’s always what I see up running, I’ve already done them, so it doesn’t progress achievements, so why bother, again, waiting an hour for the next one just makes you want to log off and do something else.
4. The funhouse is gated behind doing these invasions successfully, which afker’s can prevent from ever happening if you constantly get in an overflow. So if you keep getting the same freaking maps, and get in overflows that fail constantly, you’re pooched from ever seeing a good chunk of this update’s content.
The hourly invasions should happen on all 13 maps, or at least 3-4 maps at once every hour until Sept 3rd when this event is over, and THEN when they’re permanent invasions it can go to 1 map per hour. Either that or have a predictable schedule so that people who need certain maps can work in what time they log in.
This current system just doesn’t work unless you play ALL DAY and poopsock this event. Play a couple hours a day? You’re betting on RNG to get different maps and hoping not to end up in fail overflows.
This event is a 2/10.
Thats overrating this event. If not for the farming, I would give it 0/10 instead of 1/10. Ah well, at least now I can play other games other than GW2.]
The worst thing is DC by server or client crash in the last few seconds of the invasion after spending at least 30 min.

Please fix the crashing that’s occurring when fighting Scarlet.
I’ve now done 4x 45 minute events.
I have completed twice, and crashed twice.
It’s pretty hard to get worldwide invasion responder/invasion canceler when you crash after 40 minutes and don’t get credit.
And for the record, I was in a group, I rejoined the instance and did not get credit towards the titles.
Server lagged out on me during Scarlet after 40 min since the beginning. How do I know its server side and not my internet crapping out? I am able to log on half a min immediately from the character select screen I was dumped into.

I entered the map immediately after the event was started and waded through 40 min of mindless sleep-inducing zerging only to lag out during the Scarlet fight. When I tried to log on half a min later (which indicates this was a server problem), it was over and I wasted 40 min for absolutely nothing.

That should be more than enough material for the discussion at hand. At least two of the links directly links to the statement I made regarding the amount of women who game.
Nice try, two minutes of Google search but no relevant results. There is no breakdown of what kind of games do women (aka “almost half of the gaming population”) play. And they would most likely be mobile games or Farmville type of games, not “AAA blockbusters”. Feel free to point out where in your links is the contradictory evidence as highlighted in a scientific study.
Linking to journalistic articles that complain about sexism would smack of bias as journalists would tend to cherry pick studies that support their opinion.

… You know female gamers are almost exactly half the gaming populace and that many of them play the same AAA blockbusters as men play, right? … Right? You -did- manage to do two seconds of research before spouting something, right?
And your sources too if you please. I dont recall reading any article ever that states unequivocally how many women play “AAA blockbusters” like COD for example.

I fail to see how being in a first world country have to do with sexism as there are many third world or developing countries that treat women fairly well. They tend to be Buddhist countries though.
Then again in a market dominated by males and companies catering to their tastes is not sexist at all. Unless more women play games that are not Farmville or Angry Birds (sexist right? but its the truth) you wont get a 50 Shades of Grey or Twilight style adventure game or have a booth in gaming conventions that is thronged by women. It may be the nature of the product – just like cosmetics.
That being said, I am not sure I like real life politics in GW2.

i play female characters normally because they are much more “interesting” to look at while i play.
Is that why mini Kasmeer is worth 20G and mini Faren only 5G? I would love to answer this survey but I have 9 characters and 5 of them are female. (one being a female asura Aetherblade mesmer twin to my female asura thief which acts as a JP specialist and a mule).

Men in video games are unnaturally attractive and muscular, they always have to show either their strength or their wealth. I find that extremely sexist against males. Why don’t we get an average bear gutted Joe with no job or income as our main character?
I honestly can’t think of a video game in which the protagonist was a super rich and fit guy apart from the Batman series. What about the bear gutted rich guy and the super fit guy with no job or income? Aren’t they “entitled” to be represented in games as well?

Late last month, Treyarch studio design director David Vonderhaar took to Twitter to announce a patch to popular first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The seemingly innocuous changes included reducing the damage of one weapon and rate of fire on two others. The changes, which were fractions of a second, spurred threats of violence online and an editorial by Activision social media manager Dan Amrich.
I don’t usually use terms like this but people that make threats of violence against game developers because of something in a game truly do need to get a life. Then again I don’t have much positive to say about people who make threats of violence in general.
And the fanbois/astroturf accuse GW2 players of being babies. When things get nerfed around here its by 200% or something near that. And they occur at least half a year after release and usually is not a nerf to a recent buff.

Well I am not too upset about Kiel winning. The Fall of Abaddon would/should have been an epic instance and we all know about Anet’s idea of an epic end boss fight.
However, like others have mentioned, I am perplexed as to why she won. Several reasons that I believe why people voted for Kiel:
1) They like Kiel
2) They hate Evon/merchants/charr
3) Cheaper waypoints
4) Asura Reactor (not very likely though)
