That’s what she said.
It becomes even better when enlarged by Elixir V S.
Real Life GW2 “Backpack”:
http://www.kongzhong.com/chinajoy2013/showimg/20130727/10894.html
GW2 looks classier on the Chinese website. They hooked up with a slick Chinese company with a top notch web designer.
In the west MMOs are all about the expression of the individual. Thus we get the disaffected teens and young 20 somethings gathering and emerging in Tyria as a variety of characters.
In Asia MMOs are more team oriented therefore they get scenes of armies forming to fight off the forces of evil and quite a bit of WvW gameplay. GuildWars was popular in Asia as an e-sport so the trailer also has a number of PvP gameplay moments.
Yes the opening is beautiful and the art style in the game meshes well with Chinese/Asia watercolor style art. They seem to have changed the risen a bit but that’s understandable due to the cultural taboo on undead.
Overall it wasn’t bad. Different due to the audience it’s catering to.
Thats just sterotyping. I would throw in the word lazy too if it wasnt so confrontational. First of all who (regardless of nationality) would want to experience competitive WvW when skill lags kicks in?
No one would want to play a game if it wasn’t entertaining, MMO or not. If the gameplay is fluid and smooth and entertaining, thats what sucks in people to play. If you don’t believe me, go see how many people play Keg Brawl. And you think every Chinese player is going to kit out their characters in the same fashion and style? Please.
It is interesting that some people think that playing an MMO is participating in a form of social commentary in the West. Then again there is Super Adventure Box.
Nice game when can I play it? The animations are spot on though.
You need better writers for your Chinese voice actors imo, the best lines were the asura ones which convey the characterisation of a scientific race quite nicely.
Expect the same QQs in Chinese about the balance and gameplay changes. Hope your forum servers can handle the load.
Indeed, because the mini games are so wonderful that they dont require achievement points to entice people to play them. Its not as if these mini games would become “ghost towns” without said enticements.
I am looking for a guild that farms achieves via mini games.
ANet sure took its time with a one year old band aid.
I still can’t use Earthshaker from a higher point on an incline to a lower point, because it misses everything on account of the elevation disparity.
Sometimes small things take time, and priorities shift all the time based on the current state of the game. If what other people are saying is true, DS is absorbing thousands more damage than it used to. Perhaps they thought this would balance that out.
And if it turns out it is really burning PvE Necros, they’ll come up with an actual fix that allows Necros to make use of their profession mechanic as more than just a block on huge spikes of boss damage.
Yeah not going to happen. Because there arent many PVE necros in the first place. And any complaints are just “WAHHH!” to people who play the best classes in PVE.
Whatever, calling time out on GW2. Congrats balance team, you made me spend time in the forums again.
Kitten PVP. 15 chars
ANet sure took its time with a one year old band aid.
Also, are there really so many attacks in PvE that you don’t have enough dodges without Vigor? The number of people I’ve seen just dodge randomly for no net gain is so high that I have an intensely hard time believe that.
This hurts a lot in several high end PvE fights such as Lupicus. It’s not really fair to comment on the PvE aspect of a necromancer change if you haven’t played a necromancer in a lot of dungeons. Necros were never one of the “best” dungeon classes, making this all the more painful.
In general, are there so many attacks that you don’t have enough dodges without vigor? If you time everything perfectly, probably not – this game’s PvE is pretty easy in general. But every other class gets some form (usually multiple) of avoiding single spike hits: vigor, +50% endurance regen traits, block, invunerability, aegis, evade skills, and projectile reflection. Necromancers have none of these, and previously could make up for the difference with skillful use of death shroud. Now the skill cap has been lowered, and necromancers are the only class to have none of those defenses against large 1 hit attacks (other than natural dodges, which every class has).
Stop feeding the kitten wipe troll. I wonder how can you time everything perfectly if you have multiple trash mobs spamming their attacks at you.
Making this change might actually give Necros a real mechanic so they can actually use their profession mechanic instead of crutch on it to absorb hits.
Also, are there really so many attacks in PvE that you don’t have enough dodges without Vigor? The number of people I’ve seen just dodge randomly for no net gain is so high that I have an intensely hard time believe that.
Sure Warriors should not use their GS whirl as a crutch. As well as shields in PVP. Please run this suggestion up to Anet. Block List +1
Really hate that other players who main other professions and only do PVP say that this particular nerf is a small nerf like what their professions experience from time to time. PVE survivability is going to take a big hit.
But hey whatever, thinking of taking another break from GW2.
Rangers now have a new competitor for worst class in PVE dungeons.
Ok folks lets look at this logically.
Before the patch you could soak up overflow damage by being in death shroud.
Before the patch people were intentionally using this to mitigate damage.
This is evidently not an intended use of deathshroud, so they changed it.So at this point you have 3 schools of thought:
#1. WWWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!
#2. The ability to use deathshroud this way was potentially getting in the way of necros getting a buff. Now that this capability is gone they will be able to test and observe if necros can perform up to their desires and if they do not they will buff them in some way.
#3. Necro’s will still be good in other areas of the game buy may need sPVP specific buffs.
WAHHHH!!!!!!!! Seriously hard to have a discussion with arrogant son of kittens who just thinks everyone else is simply whining.
Block List +1
Its not just the lack of blocks and invul but the lack of evasive weapon skills as well.
I would like to see a necro solo Lupi now.
Looks like I wont be getting free gifts like a kite for a while now.
No. PvP in heart of the mists doesn’t require repairs for deaths, just WvW which isn’t even PvP. WvW is “Follow the blue icon and zerg around the map” – not PvP. PvP takes skill.
I was winning in sPvP with 3 min left to go and then I took a DC in the client.
Some people follow the blue icon to their deaths while others to many loot bags.
If my necro could use a GS, I would feel obligated to grind for Twilight.
As a person of white european descent I find the inaccurate historical references to my culture throughout the region of Kryta offensive…
Wait no I dont.
As an Asian, I would love to see American culture being portrayed in GW2 by a race and a city. It would be very entertaining to see Wild West cowboy tropes being perpetuated and adds to the diversity of the GW2 universe. Just saying.
You can always buy siege with them, and then sell the siege.
Siege is not worth as much as exo bracers into the Mystic Forge in G.
I wish Anet would stop giving me free gold. I don’t need handouts! Seriously, delete the badges if you hate them so much. Takes like two seconds of your time. Geez.
A. Its not free you have to get a certain amount of AP to get said rewards.
B. Not as if the handouts came at the expense of other players.
“Gold is your generic token..which,………… wait for it…you can get via badges. "
Tell me how I can exchange the badges to gold, I really don’t know.
T
See my post above.
Just convert into 3 or 4 WvW exo bracers (option to +1 mystic stone) and throw it into the toilet and sell the resulting non account bound exo for at least 1G 90s.
Keg Brawl can actually be immensely entertaining when everyone plays legitimately. I’ve had great fun with it. But it only takes one person jumping over the sidelines with a keg to unbalance the teams and ruin that fun.
I have less problems when it’s Keg Brawl Victor for the daily as opposed to stealer or fumble forcer. I agree with an earlier poster that this should be the only achievement.
Regarding people farming the Kegmaster title… yeah they’re annoying, but whatever, they should have their stupid title soon enough and get out of our hair. It’s dailies that are more of an issue because those are ongoing.
I feel pretty confident that > 98% of GW2 players disagree with you. I was in games with 6 players at most at primetime with a daily achieve thrown in.
If Anet refuses to get the message, there is nothing that can be done.
I wouldn’t say it’s good sportsmanship. After all, if people are letting others win, I’d argue it’s more akin to sports in schools nowadays, where everyone wins.
IMO, good sportsmanship is not badmouthing the losers if you win, or having a strop if you lose crying ’It’s not fair, I want that achievement too. That guy cheated, I call hax’ ect ect
Yes mini games are esport spin-offs of the great esport success that is GW2.
Complaining about people letting you win….
Um… yeah. It makes the game pointless and dull. I wouldn’t think that would be so hard to understand.
Err you mean every mini game isnt pointless and dull and UNFUN to begin with? Once I got my achieves never going to play these time wasters. By the way if you see me in a mini game you know wat to do
Give me at least 2 grade B mini dungeons and Anet gets my $10. Just saying.
Conversely, give me kitten invulnerable to all but mines mechanics and it becomes a -1 from the number of dungeons that is required to pry $10 from me.
Remember Molten had fixed mining nodes whereas Aetherblade drops are completely random (and rare) with RNG for charged cores/lodestones for the higher tier drops.
Personally I love Molten but I missed out on the Aetherblade achieves. Personally dont really care too much for lower WP costs. Its just a few silver per day unless you main one character only and go around the map.
As for Molten not being a challenge, I think the fract lvl will scale it to a point that even the l33t players will cry for mommy.

Asia doesn’t exist in reality, only in games as mythical Oriental fantasy lands. And these portrayals satisfy Asians not Westerners who have said interest in aforementioned fantasy trope.
Then again I am an Asian interested in European medieval stuff …
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
This game is weird. Despite it being a fantasy game and having skills that do not correlate to reality whatsover, combined with the factor of massive server lag and 5 player AOE limit, a zerg that is caught in a pincer by another zerg of equal numbers will most probably be annihilated.
I understand that fun is subjective, hence why not everyone plays basketball. However, I don’t know why you’d play hot join (the sewer system of PvP) and then claim that all PvP is boring. It’s like eating nothing but hamburger and then claiming sirloin is boring to eat.
Yes bow down to the l33t pvpers. I have a similar view about PVP in general as opposed to PvE but I dont want to sound rude and confrontational. Clearly if I said PvP wasnt fun and unenjoyable, I would just have it over as quickly as possible just so I can get the AP. If you don’t understand this the first time round I doubt repeating myself will get the message through.
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
Basketball is the same game every time too. You know why people keep playing it? It’s fun. This is why tPvP players keep playing tPvP.
Based on your post, I’m assuming your PvP experiences begin and end with hot join.
The concept of fun is subjective unless you live in a totalitarian political system. And yes my PvP experiences currently begin with and end with pvp browser within 15 min just for the AP, not because I find it fun in any shape or form.
And I may be in the vast majority of players who do casual PvP or at all. Not sure why Time Warp gets nerfed for the 1% ers.
I’ll state it again for your benefit. If you have a personal problem with me over 1 post, take it to PM.
As for the discussion at hand, give a realistic example of one person with above average skill significantly influencing a 20v20, 40v40, or even great fight. With graphical display and lag issues, massive amounts of AoE, and things such as arrow carts, trebs, catapults, etc, I find your suggestion that one person’s individual skill has a meaningful impact is laughable. Furthermore, even if you could prove that one person’s skill has an impact in WvW, compare it with the impact in 5v5 tPvP or in 5 man PvE content. Do you honestly think that a person who gets gratification out of meaningful individual contribution would choose WvW over either of those options? This goes back to my original point; how someone who values their own contribution to a fight won’t find much to be satisfied in with WvW.
You could always form a camp raid party or solo cap camps while the zerg does its thing. If you are an especially skilled player in a OP class, you can take on 2 or more guys of equal lvl and equipment. Not to brag but one guy CAN make a difference. I just solo captured a camp today because of the daily requirements and it held for the point tally.
Furthermore, one guy can harass the rearguard of the zerg or do a suicide run to break up the zerg.
Spvp=CoD
WvW=BF4while i believe BF4 and WvW are the superior to the other…that run back and slow paced action turns me off everytime…running for 10 mins with no action =\= fun…..i like a more fast paced game type
if u cud mix WvW mechanics with the fast pace of sPvP…it wud b golden
WvW is tactics and strategy, PVP is about party coordination and skill. Neither has any depth to it but IMHO WvW has a much better potential for much more complexity.

Its fun for the first 100 PvP matches then you realize its the same old same old. I got tired of PvP ever since the first few months.
What motivates you to PvP in GW2? Can’t be because of progression, skins.
I only started doing 15-20min PvP purely for the AP. In fact I wish I could be in a guild that farmed the PvP AP efficiently, pretty sure that this isn’t against the TOS.
4% karma bonus is more relevant. 0.04×1000,000 = 40,000
Thats significant considering the amount of karma jugs, etc.
If the long-awaited in-game lfg tool does not let players specify their specific requirements (e.g., berserker, or class, or whatever), there will either be a massive uproar or many people will ignore it and still use the 3rd party site. No matter what ANet does with the promised in-game tool, some folks are going to be dissatisfied. I’ll make the popcorn.
Not really people can use both. The external one for specific requirements and the internal one for LFG non farm COF P1, SE, HOTW, TA, AC, CM/ dungeon of the month. Just specify which path you want to take.
I like the game but there are parts which I find completely distasteful like a black forest cake topped up with slices of cucumber and sprinkled with sprinkles.
And apparently more people like the latter more than the former.
It isnt a mini game; its a whole dungeon.
Whatever. As long it isnt an event by itself. And I am content with the 1 AP I got from SAB which sums up what I think about catering to people who like being transported back to Nintendo games yet won’t play them on emulators/re-releases/reboots of those classic franchises.
I don’t really want to rehash the old SAB arguments but I wonder if the same art team that created SAB is part of the same art team that created all the other graphics. If that is the case I can just say they have extremely conflicting aesthetics.
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
A lot may disagree with me, I am glad to see the back of SAB and Mr Invulnerable to all but Mines.
I’ve been getting most of my kite fortunes from killing mobs. To my surprise, i got a golden fortune scrap today.
You could buy the heavy loot bags from TP and 2nd prize of 50 bonus scraps are good too.
1) After many tries you managed to strike a balance between rarity, RNG and accessibility for skins acquisition. Hint for players: If you are not going to use gems to buy the kite fortunes, buy stacks of heavy loot bags (or you can farm players in WvW). The drop rates are quite good about 1.4/10 for me and the mats you get can be sold to recoup the cost and sometimes you get lucky and even make a nice profit.
2) I dislike JPs, but I really appreciate that the Labyrinthine is very well designed, the accessible nooks and crannies are neatly hidden despite the small size of the map. The great vantage points from the airships and platforms made me forget about my dislike of JPs. Most importantly for me though is that these are not timed and there are multiple ways of getting to the crystals.
3) Equipment with more stat variety.
4) Catcher skins are good looking imo, compared with Aetherblade monocle and tonic.
5) I generally like content with combat in them but if you are going to a content update without combat, this is the way to do it. I dont really care for Sanctum Sprint and Belcher’s Bluff though.
P.S Much improved after Southsun. However like many others, I had expected the Skyhammer to be in WvW. It seems like a waste for it to be in the smallest part of the game.
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
Have you tested against chill and immobilize as well?
Celestial sucks.
Sure “stat combos”, but even then it should only ever be a mix of Berserker/Rampagers, which can be fixed by taking Berserker stats on ascended items and Rampagers on exotics. Taking Celestial just makes the player lose the useful stats in exchange for some crap like healing power or vitality which are NEVER useful.
Disclaimer: I talk in a PvE environment only.
I would like to see a full berserker team do FotM 48+ effectively, efficiently, and with 0 deaths.
They do, it’s called take 2 guardians and call me in the morning.
> getting carried by 2 guardians in FOTM48
come talk to me when you can do it without them and I’ll take you seriously
2 Guardians in full berzerker as well? They will get downed easily by the numerous normal mobs unless you are in a guild team that plays together all the time and coordinate your attacks.
Yeah I want to see 5 warriors take on the Fire Shaman. Should be a piece of cake right?
Would like to suggest that current weapon tickets be allowed to exchange for out of season weapons. I missed out on the fused weapon ticket and would like one even if it is at an unfavorable exchange rate of the current contents weapons skins.

Not if u are running on low HP classes. Its ok to admit that despite your best efforts, u get multi-aggroed and stun locked and out of breakers and have to rely on your health or that little bit of health helps u survive a one shot. If you do the simple math, crit damage trade-off on helm, chest and leggings are the worst ratios for crit damage.
Not at all! It’s just the new thing to do. Plus, I’m on a mission to get every stat combo for ranger and then make a build for every combo that gets me kills. It’s a proof of concept approach to gaming.
You are free to do as you please, however, note that aquisition of the inscriptions needed to craft a full set (armorsmithing 400) takes about 1 month due to time gating.
By no means is celestial required. A good player could win fights using masterwork gear because skill and build matter more than overall stats.
Lag aka latency matters the most. Even in a dungeon, I press a skill and wait for the skill to pop and nothing.
The conversion rate is ridiculously long though. Do the math – a full set takes 5×6= 30 days approx 1 month. Sneaky way to get people just to log in even if they are not going to do their daily.
The helm is very worth it if u are using knights gear regardless of build. its -12 to Power and Precision and the toughness minus is balanced out with vit plus and you gain 3% crit damage.
Why are mini games fun to some people? Is it because the main gameplay mechanic has become dull or is terribly unbalanced?
