The way a bush moves when you walk through it.
How well defined and decorated underwater areas are.
Little puffs floating through the air.
The way the trees sway in the wind.
The way zones in general feel.
More 8 bit graphics pls
For me its the water. I know its not realistic but the water effects are like a painting of its own.
I just watched the demo of a fighting game based on a very famous comic book franchise on Youtube and I must say GW2 character models look way better, even though some races (Norn male) need some work.

Cof farm quite literally produces coin, therefore it increases the supply of gold. This gold either stays on the character farmed or flows into sinks, precursors and legendary materials (including ectos) for example. This would drive prices up. On the other hand, world boss chests indirectly increase the supply of ectos, driving prices down. My guess is that world boss loot was a “problem” because it was devaluing an important commodity.
I dont think its as simple as that, pre world boss chest nerf to account bound, ecto was 30s and now its 25s. Which leads me to believe that Anet practices price controls. Not saying that it is inherently wrong in a virtual economy.
I really feel like Lupicus needs more skills/vary from path to path. If you’ve done lupi 5-6 times you know when/where to go and he becomes really really easy.
I would like to see some massive end-game content like a dungeon where you’d have to fight all 3 dragons in one arena while Lupi runs around beating the hell out of everyone. And at the end you would have to fight Zhaitan. Which should have 5 phases, at least 5 skills/phase, 2 of which should be massive aoes. Members required: 10.
Fine by me, but knowing Anet they will stick them in AC. :p
Also, having run old AC enough times to get the full Armor Set, Gift, and two 2-Handers, I can only describe old AC as tedious and unsatisfying, but quick and easy, kind of like McDonald’s.
Funny I could say the same thing about new AC as well. It was somewhat challenging for the first run though (* with an experienced party) Fun? Not really. If devs keep catering to the people looking for a challenge (the same “elitists” running dungeons as guardians and not pugging), then it will be a nonstop whinefest of “I need more of a challenge”. And I am sure these guys completed AC P1 in under 10 minutes when they were low level and starting out in the game as well.
As it is, the “elitists” got their way and no amount of insults are going to bring back the playerbase to AC. But go ahead, let these guys dictate game design.
Funnily enough not many asked for a nerf for the end dugeon, Arah P4, because ppl know it was going to be a very hard dungeon and people pick their fights based on their respective skill level. I think they asked for bug fixes instead (which the nerf had appeared to only have partially fixed). And the elitists didnt complain that it was no longer hard, well not as much as campaigning to keep new AC.

I dont think the game is dying. While I still hold it to be a great MMO and one with a lot of potential, the developers continue to go against what they touted this game to be, which is turning a lot of people off(myself included). Maybe Ill be back some day, if arenanet gets their crap together.
Go on any MMO/online gaming website or forum. GW2 gets a lot of criticism. Theres a reason.
But no, it isnt dying.
As long as they keep the hipsters and elitists happy, GW2 will never die a premature death.
(Hypothetical game plan).
A cross section of the demographics either didn’t like, didn’t care for or loved SAB. No stereotypes or complaints were conjured in the making of this post.
The impression I’m starting to get is that age really doesn’t have much to do with whether or not you like SAB. Rather, it’s whether or not you want something closer to a pure fantasy, or are quite happy to move in a different direction from pure fantasy.
Personally, I can get fantasy anywhere. This is new and interesting.
Yeah 8 bit is the new rage these days. Maybe one day we will have vector graphic games.
Its so difficult to get 8 bit 5 player 3d coop dungeons its true. But I hear theres this game called Minecraft.
I wouldnt mind an open box GW2, 8 bit or not though. Everyone then can get what they want.
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
Why would u need hotbars for something which is mostly not accessible in dungeons anyway?
They are aiming at multiple groups of ages…open your eyes maybe you’l see it.Don’t be dissapointed because you didn’t like this event, hundreds of other still did.And no…they aren’t all over 30….
Also,i can’t understand for the life of me,that people always have to find ways to complain about something…..I would be getting really tired of myself honestly…

…
Simply put, there just isn’t enough to do. You do one of three things. You PvE, you WvW, or you PvP. There really isn’t much more than that. The Super Adventure Box was a step in the right direction, but this game is really just lacking in peripheral content.….
I really don’t think this game will last very long at the rate it’s going, I know a lot of people who are getting fed up with it. World of Warcraft has been around for as long as it has for a reason. Guild Wars 1 was around for as long as it was for a reason. Don’t embrace the “casual” era that is today. Make a good game, not a pile of steaming kitten. Who cares if the little kids aren’t able to beat it, you’d have people coming back for more.
I didn’t realize WOW had a lot of hardcore SAB equivalent in its content.
If there is a 25 v 25, and group A has 5 ele’s, then you’ve got AoE for the entire group B.
Group A’s 5 ele’s could put up 5 static stun fields, and then boom, you’ve stunned the entire enemy zerg.
There is a problem with that calculation, You are assuming that targets chosen by the AOEs don’t overlap. Since we are on that subject, how does the system decide which 5 in the AOE are chosen?
P.S: Nvm, from the wiki:
“Only the 5 closest enemies to the centerpoint of the area of effect will be affected. Similiarly, when affecting allies, closest party members are affected first, followed by closest non-party member allies.”
Only thing is that it doesnt say how precise is the calculation and how are equidistant recipients calculated.
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
I havent gotten around to doing it yet, but I would like to ask what level the mobs are in the story missions.
I only played the “Act with Wisdom” sylvari branch today but Larra was very funny. I always like Carys and Tegwen. The voice actors did a good job here.
I emailed Anet to use a GW2 wallpaper in a personalized credit card and they said it was ok.
Would be extremely cool if I could have RL figurines of my characters.
I am really scared in making a thread like: What racial skills complement your profession in PvE and consequently they get nerfed one month later.
Some people think SAB is fun. Power to them. But I happen to like the combat mechanics and the skills in GW2 and they are what make GW2 fun IMHO. So were the non-exploiting consumables in dungeons.
I tried SAB for 45min and remembered there is more fun to be found elsewhere.
Not a hater, but not a hipster either.
At this rate they might as well remove all skills/stats from the game and hand everyone a pistol.
ANet: Let’s create diversity.
ANet: Let’s make everything as good as the warrior.
ANet: Let’s nerf the warrior.
ANet: Let’s steamroll it all.
ANet: Let’s create diversity.
I think everything not the autoattack or a pure DPS skill is a crutch to some ppl.
In case no one caught it, I was being sarcastic and was actually referring to GW2 core.
Guess the joke is on me since April Fool’s Day has long expired.
If u are a fan of this content, u can always buy $10 worth of gems. I did when Fractals came out.
This has reminded of the following games in no particular order:
Zeliard, Sorcerian, Golden Axe, Double Dragon, Willow (the Arcade version), Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mystara, Dungeons and Dragons: Tower of Doom, Gauntlet (all versions).
I will add more if and when I can recall more.
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
SAB is for the Mario / Zelda fans not the Golden Axe/ Double Dragon fans.
I wonder SAB or the 30% discount is the thing that really spiked sales.
So, if you had the choice of how reflection is handled in the game, would you go out of your way to make certain attacks non-reflectable to create challenge or scale/change the skills that reflect so it wouldn’t make said encounters a faceroll?
Option number 3: Don’t cater to ppl who insist that every encounter NOT be a faceroll.
anet’s strategy, rather than to make everything as good as the op, they just nerf the op so the game stays stale and restrictive
But isn’t this the result of listening of the suggestions of the 1337 playerbase? Many skills are a crutch to them.
If these guys existed in chess, they would say “I am a grandmaster in chess” (whether they are as good as they think themselves to be is another matter) so lets remove the queen’s ability to travel diagonally and horizontally without range limits – too OP.
Then go play Zelda.
Why do people act like every addition to the game must please everybody? It never will. I think SAB is funny. Will I spend hours in there for the skins? No. Hell no. Its a great April fools day event. And, it is NOT the April patch. So I don’t understand all the whining about it.
In fact I am not the one complaining about SAB and yes I played a bit of Zelda BECAUSE of SAB. But I am sure that this effect was not intended by the devs at all. They can put in a Ford truck for all I care (as mentioned by another poster); I have that high a tolerance level for immersion breaking stuff even on April’s Fool day. In fact no issue with GW2 Ivan ‘Ironman’ Stewart’s Super Off Road.
Funny? Hell no.
OP probably dont even know what commodore 64 or amiga 500 is…nowadays they all get 20 up their kitten and suddenly whole world are kiddies. rofl.
Bet u dont remember using cassette tapes to play games. Some people may be wondering what is a cassette tape in the first place.
You mean cassete tapes that we used to run games on commodore and spectrum?
edit: i hope your not suggesting im so old my memory failed me…
I was thinking frogger for Tandy.
Bonus qn: I bet you don’t know about Zeliard.
Some ppl are so “evolved” to the point 8 bit is cool again. Does this mean conservatism is back on the rise again in the West?
OP probably dont even know what commodore 64 or amiga 500 is…nowadays they all get 20 up their kitten and suddenly whole world are kiddies. rofl.

I think this is the biggest issue with traditional MMO players. They measure fun by reward, instead of fun for actually doing.
This video, about intrinsic and extrinsic rewards is spot on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h86g-XgUCA8
Why dont the SAB fanboys understand everyone’s idea of fun is not the same? Intrinsically I find it more fun to play Zelda 64 currently than SAB.
(No, it does not mean literally taking control of your character to leap over water while a shark circles below in GW2)
First off, I personally dont think SAB is that bad to warrant the title’s moniker but others who may feel strongly about it probably do.
In case anyone doesnt know what Jumping the Shark is, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
But why complain now? We had the exact same with Wintersday. Did huge presents with living toys fit in ‘a very artist game’?
Yes it did and I have a screenshot of Tixx’s golem hot air balloon landing to prove it.
Tixx and his automated toys makes complete sense. Animation wise they are congruous to GW2 as well.
I think a lot of ppl who didnt like SAB think that the SAB is GW2’s “Jumping the shark”. I dont feel that strongly about it though.

Because opening a tab in a browser is harder than opening a tab in a game.
I opened the tab in the browser, highlighted some text, Ctrl C, tabbed back, Ctrl V into box and “Party full”. Rinse and repeat.
My suggestion to level is to do the new multiple choice daily achievements on your low levels. They give quite a bit of XP.
1) Super Adventure Box
2) Wintersday
3) Lost Shores
4) Halloween
Personally its Wintersday for me.
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
Why do people always assume everyone in my age bracket is pining for the early days of computer games? Bah. Nostalgia is one thing, but if you objectively look at old games and the mechanics in them, they were terrible (with a few notable exceptions). Horrible graphics, thin storylines, infuriating game mechanics… Most old games were actually really bad and they only look like there OK now through really thick rose-tinted glasses.
Except for the horrible graphics part, agree to disagree.
Wintersday was the best event by far for me. And I am not a big fan of events.
Did it break immersion? Not at all, it may even have enhanced it. Not to mention glorious glorious Tixx golem balloon animations and the snowglobe Mystic Forge. The ONLY complaint I have is the griefing potential of the bells. I am not a massive fanboy, so I didnt go “Wow super job on Wintersday, Anet keep it up”.
SAB? Still couldn’t care less and not a good idea imho.
Whenever you do a tribute to something, inevitably you evoke memories of the source material and comparisons to other tributaries. If the source material and other tributaries are still available…. I think somebody really didn’t think this through.
SAB doesnt affect my gameplay which is why I said I am not bothered about it in my GW2 gameplay.
Then people should go play the 100 levels of awesomeness of yesteryear AND today on their I-watever and Androids.
There, fixed. Happy?
What sales, sales. Just the way things are. There is a wide audience for 8-bit art, a lot of people like it, including people that like GW2. You act like GW2 is all about 8-bit now and you are being robbed of your gameplay. It’s just a mini-game, something many mmo’s have been doing for decades. I’d rather see something like this as a mini-game rather than a dumb trading card game. And still, this is for only a month, then it’s gone. I’m not going to stop playing GW2 to go play 8-bit games just because you are irked about a mini-game here, don’t be silly.
Actually I am irked by ppl saying this is the best thing since sliced bread. I pointed out there are much, much better alternatives if you want 8 bit gaming. Even the devs will admit this.
As for sales figures, only Anet would know this is a success or a dud.
I wouldnt mind a GW2 trading card game outside the architecture.
Then people should go play the 100 levels of awesomeness of yesteryear on their I-watever and Androids.
Yesteryear? Like I said, there are new games, lots of them, and they are very fun. It’s like saying oil painting is no longer relevant since we have digital cameras now…
Then people should go play the 100 levels of awesomeness of yesteryear AND today on their I-watever and Androids.
There, fixed. Happy?
…
Many people that whine and complain about Anet needing to focus on other areas of the game apparently have no idea that there are different teams working on different things. Just because one team developed this new 8 bit game doesn’t mean other teams aren’t working hard on the stuff you want.
…
And you know this as a certainty? I don’t work at Anet so I wouldnt know.
I’ve finally realised why I can’t enjoy or begin to enjoy this game even though it’s amazing and is in my favorite genre.
cool story, bro!
Either that or the developers are that age, which is common. Meanwhile 8-bit games are very popular on android devices right now, remakes and totally new games, friggen fun stuff. But 8-bit has it’s own form of art, it’s appealing to many as well as to developer-artists.
Thats the problem. Then people should go play the 100 levels of awesomeness of yesteryear on their I-watever and Androids.
Maybe Nintendo and Anet had a co-licensing agreement :P
Kudos to Anet for making a nice solid combat system with a corresponding quality of animation. I feel quite fluid when in combat for most classes and races.
This is coming from a terribad fighting game player.
I really like how my Asuras flips and somersaults while my max size Charr does pretty much the same thing. Its very smooth when meleeing.
I never played God of War though, so I dont know how it compares.
(edited by Khal Drogo.9631)
Dungeon Finder? Alt-tab out to GW2Lfg.com, Ctrl C and Ctrl V and paste into GW2 and NOT get into a party.
Immediacy indeed.
While we are somewhat on the issue of noise pollution, I am almost glad for KR nerf to remove the medkit KR sound effect.
Will Anet do something about the Wintersday bells?
Same people in every post, trying to stir up arguments.
Give it a rest, the game is fun and people are loving it.
Everything is packed, it’s a party, either join it or go take a chill break somewhere.
My sentiments exactly. Super Adventure Box is waiting for you, instead of NOT having fun on the forums.
Just relax and enjoy it. It won’t be here by next month anyways.
I would rather play less and log in less. 30 days is quite a long time.
All because of log in music. Some people take things way too seriously.
Not really. I made Bolt simply because I couldnt stand the mesmer auto swing sword which is also present in Guardian Hammer and GS autoattack.
Not that I find the 8 bit music as irritating now – but get back to me in 30 days.
Just relax and enjoy it. It won’t be here by next month anyways.
I would rather play less and log in less. 30 days is quite a long time.
What’s more pathetic is that you need to hear it 3 seconds while logging in. 3 seconds? Really what is the point?
Not when you have 8 alts to cycle through. Fun is very subjective – some derive fun from trolling for example.
Music is cool for the first 8 times I heard it though. Still is but I prefer the old theme song back pls.
…
Get a sense of humour it’s just a bow that fires my little pony with a mark on his back. And i can go on if u ask me.
I wonder if ANet messed with the other legendaries by giving it the my little pink pony treatment, the fanbois would say “Get a sense of humor”.
Well if its only for April’s Fool Day, I would be cool with it; others may threaten to DDOS Anet’s servers etc.
As for the old chestnut about free content, there is this revolutionary new idea called paid extra content aka DLCs in other games. U like the DLC u pay for them and etc. I bought $10 of gems for the fractals when I didnt really have to for the fractals and that was before the Kittening DC issue was resolved.

GW2 Core is fun. Super Adventure Box is not, imho. Maybe works differently for people who will turn into cheerful old women according to you.
Then don’t do it. What exactly are you missing out on by not doing it?
Nothing at all, but I dont insult ppl who enjoy Super Adventure Box over GW2 core either.
Heaven forbid a company with a tradition of lighthearted fun on April Fool’s Day continue that tradition. April Fools pranks are as much a part of Guild Wars as Charr, Wintersday, dragons, or different builds. The majority of the GW1 community loved them, and by the look of the responses this one is getting, they’re not going anywhere.
Im not saying i dont like it, its fun, however …
snip
…im done with the game…
Have any of you ever wondered what grumpy old men look like before they grow old? I present exhibit A.
A game that’s fun? What is this blasphemy?!
