I wear full zerker gear in in all my pug teams and my dungeon runs consist of 95% pugging. I am THAT good.

My guild is so expert that we do speed runs on 5x Power Necros, faster than most 3xwarrior 1xmesmer 1xguardian PUG berserker speed runs.

And in all the above-mentioned, only one thing was true. Guess which part?

AC got easier, the only difference between the old and the new AC is that the new bosses actually have mechanics you have to overcome (I know, shocking, right?). PUGs just don’t like to learn how to do it, so they don’t do it, or fall back to gimmicky glitches and exploits that make the boss take 10 times longer…

Every non-COF speed run consists of 1) Stacking 2) Guardian Perma Protect + Group heal/support and/or 3) Mesmer Time Warp. COF P1 obviously doesn’t need step 2.

Is that exploiting / glitching? It is certainly much more efficient than relying on individual skill. I am not an elitist but sometimes I wish they used the guild bounty boss mechanics and stick them into dungeons. They do NOT use consumable gimmicks and still relies on combat, not just pulling X into Y location to make Z vulnerable or rely on shonky NPC AI.

There are actually only 3 paths in the game that you can complete in like 6-8 minutes and that’s AC p1, CoF p1 and SE p1 (not including CoF p2 gateskipping, but I don’t know if that’s gotten patched or not).

All of the other ones, except for Arah p1 (~20-25mins) and Arah p4 (30-45mins) take about the same amount of time (10-15mins) with a good group. It’s just that PUGs are terrible and don’t know how to run dungeons fast and efficiently.

Friends, guildies, realmies, best MMO community I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing with.

I think we are playing different games.
Gameplay is fluid but class tweaking / balance issues are annoying.

I failed P1 at least 5 times today because
1) People who refuse to listen to instructions – a) pugs split up to kill different burrows or b) pugs come back to “help” with kiting when they don’t know how to.

2) People who refuse to listen to instructions – got all 5 scepter pieces and last guy was in combat not letting us respawn.

Guess what kind of pugs I really detest the most. And no, I gave them a few minutes and not insta RQ.

Is it possible to change the Fireworks to account bound? Using the P word – please. Thanks.

I am strongly against jumping puzzles of any kind.

So this is my dungeon group, I was one of the Mesmers in this video. Perhaps you’ve heard of us?

To be fair, min maxing DPS speed run kill isnt really a test of individual skill, more like group coordination. I am far more impressed by solo run kills of Lupi, esp by the necro regardless of the time limit.

Anet should introduce “balancing” for PVE content so that the elite players who can solo 90% of GW2 content are forced to pair up with the worst players and it becomes a massive win win situation. Elitists get the kind of challenge they always wanted and noobs/nubs (probably all casuals in some people’s opinions) learn how to play the game better.

Canach makes me want to decapitate him / put a stake through his leafy heart / burn to ashes to make sure he is dead as a doornail and not perma invulnerable to anything but disarmed mines that flash green at the top (but not not disarmed mines that flash green at the top).

Hey guys, I am not one for lengthy discussions about a video game. I am here to announce that I changed my mind about Southsun and Canach’s Lair dungeon instance. I found a secret FPS mode in Canach’s Lair.

Just take a look my Youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvuNRimu1Y8&feature=youtu.be) and observe the mines colour as I push Canach on to them. What a blast!

*If SAB can drag on for one month, I can surely make a joke at the end of May.

Karka loot drops have diminished. I run with 400+% MF and half an hr of farming results in 0 power blood. Usually get at least 1.

I did it today with my necro and got the lightfooted achievement…

Find one explosive mine near a wall. Only work with this mine and skill #2.
Make it green and lead Canach to it.. he will take quite a bit of damage. Then stand with your back to the wall and wait for the mine to respawn. Once it respawns, repeat.
It takes maybe around 15 cycles to kill him this way.

While you’re waiting for respawn, you don’t have anything to do (don’t bother using any skills except for healing and #2) so just watch Canach’s animations — they’ll tell you what he’s about to do. You can dodge his knockback attacks if you pay close attention. And even if you miss a dodge, since your back is against the wall, you won’t get knocked into a mine. (His damage is indeed pretty sad.)

One last note: make sure the mine is green before you lead Canach to it… for some reason, skill #2 occasionally doesn’t work correctly.

Can this be considered as an exploit? The player should be forced to run around and dodge roll mines.

First off – what story?

The mines were laid by the Lionguard, then flipped by Canach for his own use. Then the player flips them again.

What’s stupid is that Canach is invincible except for these Lionguard mines. Maybe the Mother Tree dipped him into a river of the Mists when he was a baby and a mine exploded near him when this happened.

Well it would have made my PUG insta RQ instead of failing at 15-20% of HP in my 3 failed attempts.

Even worse… he’s only vulnerable to DISARMED mines. The whole fight makes no sense. But it’s kinda fun and kitten easy once you get to know the mechanics. Just make sure you disarm the mines near the entrance to the room before you walk in and you’ll be able to chain lure him into mines during pretty much the whole fight, apart from the moment that he disarms or triggers all the mines in the instance, in which case you gotta go to a place without mines and wait until you can disarm them again.

I found it frustrating, irritating and extremely contrived. I failed on my ranger despite getting him to 1 hp on my second try. He reset when I ran away and pet doesnt seem to want to attack him. Then I just gave in, switched to my mesmer, popped a few clones to lure him right on the mine and just spam away.

If he took 1% normal damage, a bunch of people would start complaining that he takes too long to kill. Likewise, the chat messages are there for the same reason.

Eh? You don’t need stabilty or blocks. Get some stun breakers which all classes have if you want to recover from kd fast. He also doesn’t do alot of damage. You just need to disarm the traps and lead him to it.

Necro stun breaker has long CD. And as OP mentioned, the mine trigger doesnt work properly for Canach but works perfectly when a player goes near it.

There’s no denying that any type of game official forum is usually populated by the majority of people that are discontented with something, and this is specifically true for MMOs. Why? Because people who enjoy content play the content andhave no time to argue about little things on said forum.

What is more is that people can’t make up their mind. There seriously were people who found it an issue that F&F was finalized with a 5-man story mode dungeon and stated they’d rather thave something they could do at an individual level. So Anet does in fact listen to this and makes a 1-man fight against Canach + a 5-man version that takes 10 min to finish to which people, surprise surprise, complain that it’s too hard/too easy/unfair/has good or bad mechanics etc etc.

The bottom line in my opinion to this whole ordeal is that no matter how much care or attention you put into things haters are gonna hate, trolls will troll and whiners will whine. Hell, half of the people who complain about “bugs”, “issues” or “things lacking” don’t even know that what they’re pointing at is actually a game mechanic or design decision rather than an actual problem and that it says more about the lack of character/quality amongst themselves than about the game.

GW2 is by no means perfect, what is after all? It is in my opinion however the best MMO I’ve played to date and I can’t wait to see what they’re going to incorporate next.

Bugs are bugs, u mean there are other kinds of bugs? Or do you mean people who find bugs in GW2 don’t know what they are talking about? I am so confused. Like the “cannot swap weapon set bug that occurs because of cut scenes” that existed since beta?

If lacking features is a “design decision”, then sorry GW2 is not the game for me. Its not true that people who enjoy content have no time to post on forums – look at SAB for example or the numerous fans or astroturf who defend Anet and GW2 and slam NCSoft for GW2’s creative direction. On the flip side, people who have already left the game won’t be posting on the forums either.

There was a post earlier that detailed all the ingame mail messages in chronological sequence which spelled out the storyline really well. So maybe the material is worth praise but the reception is somehow lost on us.

Either it is the delivery or it is the listener but there is for sure a disconnect. First rule of public speaking though is to know your audience, so if “we” don’t get it, no matter how good the story is, they need to change delivery of the story so we “can” get it.

There is both positive and negative reinforcement, knowing when to use which is critical.

Also if you ever study group dynamics or had to sit through a marriage counseling or a office team building exercise, you will see that maybe our baseline emotional outbursts are really deconstructive and immature. Part of being an adult is self control. Something my kids of very little of, but I now know how to manage enough that I can function in a group and play nice with others.

We are a team/community. With each other as players and with anet who develops our game. Communication is key to success in a team. There are some phases in group dynamics that every group goes through at different paces: Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing.

Forming was fun and new, but right now we are stuck in storming. I hope this phase doesn’t break us.

If the cow doesnt want to move, nothing you do will make it move, other than tranking the cow and dragging it. Personally I would just have a nice steak dinner, rather than have a stubborn cow in my herd, regardless of emotional outbursts. Hows that for an analogy?

Too bad Canach cant be used to fight against all the Elder Dragons, he would kick all their kittens as Elder Dragons dont know how to lay mines. Same for Noll.

To kill him with the mines, use the 1 skill on the detector to reveal the mines, and look for the ones with a bomb symbol at the top, then use your #2 skill(or whichever skill has the bomb sign) on it, and go stand right next to it once it turns green, when Canach comes over it will explode and damage him.

I love how the trigger radius for the boss is much smaller than the one for the player

Just about every MMO site out there called Guild Wars 2 an AAA title. I don’t know why you think you know more than they do. What makes a title triple AAA is partly the money spent to bring it to market, partly the size of the company making it and partly the expectation around it.

Guild Wars 2 is certainly considered by the media to be a AAA title.

Because I don’t read MMO websites at all and I believe this to be the case for many of the players. What makes me know more about GW2 than those websites is the number of hours I put in the game. I most certainly wouldn’t comment on WoW and SwTor for example. I find it odd that a “AAA” game does not have widespread brand recognition. Prior to GW2, I haven’t even heard of Guild Wars at all and I play a lot of games, read many gaming articles.

The lack of a LFG tool is an unreasonable complaint to some people. Gah, why am I wasting my time with people on this forum when I could be playing some other game that is not GW2.

Funny I dont recall GW2 being branded as a AAA title. Maybe that is your own personal definition of a AAA title? Is Neverwinter a AAA title? I means it F2P not B2P. If AAA games lacks the features of a BBB game then I really question your rating system.

Also pretty sure the necro who soloed Lupi had a hyrbid armor. Actually I use full berserker on my warrior as well, because well that is expected from the dps class and warrior has a sufficently large HP pool for errors. However I do switch to knights for higher level fractals at certain bosses – Bloomhunger and Legendary Shaman. I go PVT when carrying the stupid hammer in Cliffside at arm seals.

As for thief full berserker in PVE, you must be very skilled to not be asking for rezzes relatively often compared to your teemmates.

Actually high level fractal builds are using Berserker Gear, as defensive stats diminish to being pointless at really high levels. You’d think you’d know this from visiting forums and whatnot before making a statement like that, but oh well…

That is very high level fractals when you get one-shotted even with PVT armor. For relatively high level fractals, defensive stats is still very viable. In short, its ok to wear PVT armor for something that can two or three shot you in full berserker armor so that you do not get downed as often in encounters you cannot kill within 1 min with maximum dps.

Wethospu doesn’t really need to quote something to make him credible, he has tons of videos soloing with that awful “instadeath” zerker gear. Only argument I’ve seen against zerker is the skill level issue. That is true, zerker requires more careful play, but at the same time it doesn’t remove the fact that it is more efficient than mixed gear for DPS.

Yes well nothing against Wethospu, but he doesnt show you the videos where he had failed practiced. Imagine if he was in a party and had to cope with more random attack patterns. Not sure if scaling occurs from solo to party of five – never tried before.

A. He can’t make the cinematics until the rest of the content is finished, so he’s not wasting anything by filling his time with other projects. Google is considered to be one of the most productive companies of our age, and each developer spends at least a third of their work day on personal projects.
B. Knowing how to develop an 8-bit platformer does not translate to knowing how to develop a 3d MMO. His not working on this little side-project most likely wouldn’t have helped any other content get done faster.

Ability to dodge and full zerk are your best friends, toss in a guard in knight/zerk mix for support and a zerker mesmer for utility+extra damage. Cleric gear is useless in everything except wubwub pretty much.

About those downstate zerker warriors who give us a bad name are randoms playing warrior alts as a result of CoF farming, who haven’t grasped the concept of weaponswapping/swapping out utilities and try to bruteforce facetank absolutely every encounter like every boss is the effigy.

Good players make full glass viable everywhere and actually don’t go down unless a someone messes up real bad. Smart play and cross-profession coordination and it’s all good.

I would like to see no downed state videos of 4xzerker warrior and 1xzerker mesmer Bloomhunger lvl 40 pls.

The game is enjoyable enough if you have some minutes to spare and want to kill some bad guys, like an arcade shoot ‘em up.
But it’s not the type of game that would make me remember it fondly decades later.

I remember many arcade shooters fondly. But GW2’s dungeons is not comparable to arcade games of old because they are far too short.

Never played WoW before so I dont know what a raid is, but is it possible to have dungeons that are twice as long with twice the rewards with branches and better boss mechanics? My suggestion would to be incorporate lighting elements such as BG Jumping puzzle and Komali mini boss mechanics into dungeons.

This is not elitism and despite not having a time saving method to PUG, CoF elitism STILL occurs. To me not having a LFG in game matchmaker is just lazy.

Wake me when we have a proper expansion. Only thing keeping me going in this game is guild challenge and guild puzzles which I haven’t done yet.

P.S. I would love to see Bioshock Infinite: SAB DLC. Not a grumpy old man after all. Hell I would put up $10 for a standalone BS Infinite: Blood Songbird. It would be a righteous stomp of post apocalyptic Columbia, and flipping the bird at the Man. Rendered in stunning 16 bit graphics of course.
