I’ve collected enough to finish a ring and I’m half way towards the amulet. For such flexible end game trinkets I actually think this is a bit too fast of a pace. The fact that you can change the stats on all of them for the low cost of 100 unbound magic is ridiculous.
(edited by KickzNGigglez.4958)
The +5 and +7 simple infusions were introduced for budget AR builds. With the recent AR changes this is no longer required as agony infusions can now be socketed in any infusion slot bar the amulet one.
I personally think ANET was generous to allow us to keep the +7 AR, which is usually valued at 3 gold. However I can see why they wouldn’t give you a +7 infusion in exchange as you only spent 300 relics which is ridiculously easy to obtain. I have 4 completed sets of ascended armor and that would have given me 72 gold for a few relics. I think allowing us to keep the infusions and giving us a full refund if we want it more than fair.
Also those were budget infusions and you’re talking about crafting luxury infusions with them.
500k is a bit easy
I’ve on occasion had 10mil, only to dump it on mystic forge trash and winterdays gift. I’m sitting on 3 mil as we speak and I haven’t even played that much since then.
I’d consider 2mil and null gift of exploration fair
Most multi button mouses have a software they use for mapping their keys. I know the razer line uses razer synapse. They’re pretty useful for mmos like guildwars as reaching to the other side of a keyboard is taxing on your wrist and gameplay.
I suggest playing simple classes and progressively move towards higher input intensive classes. There are three classes that I think sort of fit this type of progression.
Basic classes I would suggest would be generic Greatsword Warrior and dagger/x necro. Both classes have a forgiving amount of hitpoints and simple skill rotations. Optimal skill rotation for dagger necro is essentially press 1 repeated and use other skills as needed. Warrior has more useful skills to work with, but they’re self explanatory. During this period I would focus on watching enemies and attempt to dodge as much damage as possible.
For mid range class I’d suggest playing a Tempest dagger/warhorn build. On paper Elementalist look intimidating with all their elements, but fresh air d/w builds are actually pretty simple. Essentially you’re doing the necro 1 spam on air with an occasion 5, only you have to duck into your other elements every now and then on a “on need basis” and then swap back to air. This will help you utilize your multi function mouse more and understand where utility comes in handy. Also the hp of an ele is so low you’ll really feel rewarded for training your dodge on warrior and necro previously if you trained it well enough.
And then finally play condi engie and try not to break your wrist while doing its rotations. I’ve yet to find someone who can pull off optimal rotations consistently.
I have it happen every now and then since I pug a lot and things sometimes gets messy.
Ele ofc is the best ranged class no matter what
This is an opinion. And one I strongly disagree with in many cases.
On this topic Ele is the strongest straight physical DPS class, only 2nd to thief in some instances. However “best” is a vague term depending on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for utility, you’d run into mesmers. If you’re looking for easy rotations, fortitude, and heavy aoe condi damage I’d suggest necromancer.
As someone who fractals everyday Necro is a safe bet. I’ve ran into some bad necros, but none that have ruined a run. The ascended viper stat trinkets are a bit hard to get, but this patch just released some blood stone ones. Search up the Viper horror build as it tends to have multiple variants.
There are condi pvp builds that use the same weapons. Seeing as how stats, runes, and sigils are free in pvp you’d just have to make some minor tweaks to your trait line. PvE and PvP builds are saved separately so it’ll work out fine.
pvp: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Reaper_-_Corruptionmancer
PvE: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Reaper_-_Viper_Horror
which game mode? I only pve and viper horror is everywhere in high end content.
Thought it’s suppose to phase at 25%
Oh well, even more reason to just necro squad fractals
I feel like something should take place here to re mediate this situation.
Read the red post in this thread. The thread that’s a merger of multiple threads just like yours. The thread you too never looked for because you just wanted to blindly express your anger.

While I do find the rewards to be very random, I don’t think I’ve ever left fractals without a decent chunk of gold. As someone so frequents the fractals I’m content on where the rewards are.
- There is somewhat grinding, but all of it is optional and at your own pace.
- As far as equipment goes, ascended is still end game and avaliable through multiple means. My favorite was doing a collection for the elite specialization of my favorite classes to get their ascended weapons.
- Plenty of stuff to do in game. I’d argue that the community suffers from being overwhelmed with stuff to do to the point in which they do nothing.
- Berserker meta is sort of disappearing. We’re starting to see dedicated healers and tons of condition builds thanks to raids.
If you’re planning on decking out your equipment in +5 stat infusion in the future It might be easier to invest some money into some +9 infusions. First extract your +10’s and break them down. Since you have 5x +10s you should already have 10x +9 worth. You’l need to buy 2 more for 12 in total. In the end you’ll have 12×9=108 6×7=42 150 in total. This is useful because it allows you to keep a few of the +7s and replace them with infusions with the same AR value but with stat bonuses slowly without having to redo others.
However if you just want the AR and don’t plan on Min Maxing you can break your 5x +10 infusions into 8x +8 and 6x +9. You’ll need to buy an additional 4x +8 to have a total of 12×8=96 6×9=54 150 in total. It might seem expensive to buy 4 +8s, but that’s that cost of upgrading one of your old +10s to a +11 the old way and you still would have been 1 off from 150. 150 AR is actually a tad cheaper with the changes by around a +10 worth of gold.
I also urge searching the forums a bit before starting a new thread. There have been at least 5 separate threads that were created since patch about the same topic. Majority of them have been merged, but they’re out there.
Edit: You probably have enough infusions to make whatever you’re missing. New npc in fractals will help make the process a bit easier.

assigning wisp is a pretty good idea
got to 25% twice and failed both times
definitely needs some pre planning like raids
I think there are too many sources of gold and I can’t use it all. I think we should start removing sources of gold as it has no value Kappa
I just used my spare to make jeweled damask to add some extra coin to my damask sales. I’m actually lacking in these compared to the other components.
I’m at 170 and I consider myself a pretty casual player. I’ve only completed like 2 raids bosses and rarely dip into anything competitive like wvw or pvp. My best advice is to split it up into small sections and find small things to do during the exp grind. The first mastery points I did were the strongboxes and insights as I found the gliding new and fun. This might be different for you, maybe you’ll like the small minigames better. Whatever it is, do those. During the exp grind, find something to work on so you feel more rewarded. I Mapped DS during the meta event on 5 characters trying to finish their elite specialization collections for the ascended weapons. The variety of characters prevented the DS grind from getting stale and I got ascended weapons along with the exp.
Usually people piggy back off of someone they know who’s at a higher level.
Unfortunately I was the highest of all my friends so I had to just map chat for an opener. I generally just did whatever was daily repeatedly. Eventually I was able to host my own T4 dailys. After that I just joined any high level runs that would appear. After the changes to the fractals happened during the spring patch I naturally hit 100 through Mai Trin daily from like 94 or something onward.
My only request really is to make the projectiles drop a bit slower. Any sort of ping would honestly wipe a player during that skill. I think everything else has an acceptable tell.
I can only speak from a pvp perspective so don’t take my advice for pvp and wvw.
In raids Revs are rarely played because they don’t many “unique” things to the party. There used to be a lot of them because of boon duration, but chonomancers have started bringing their own through their armor. Most Raids bring 2 warriors and they’re almost necessary. Unfortunately most players have a warrior as they usually have some of the easiest rotations. I personally rarely get invites as a warrior because that spot is usually always filled and you usually never want more than 2.
My suggestion is to consider running a minion master necromancer. They have decent damage, fun to play, and condi classe seem to be rarer than others. While the build is strong by itself, it gets better with a friend. A dagger/warhorn elementalist can easily sustain your summons by swapping to water every now and then to drop a heal on them.
I’ve hardly ever used the stat swapping on my legendaries. The only one that gets changed is my back piece when I swap to my condi necro. As someone who owns 3 legendaries lemme just say it’s mostly just cosmetic stuff. I’d personally just make an kitten nal of ascended equipments and find a cool skin for it. Some of the legendaries are pretty meh anyways.
Chaos I think is fine, but I feel the stun is a little annoying. I do play warrior so maybe I’m just bias. I eventually just swapped bow for majority of the fight and it was smooth.
New swamp has been terror, I played my warrior to try and cc him down and it worked but I was usually near dead by the time the bar broke. I then swapped to ele and ranging him was fine but when he starts tossing his ranged attacks it becomes a bullet hell. I can usually dodge the first two but the rate that they fall makes it near impossible to keep up. I think I’ll start bringing my necro for this fight as everything else I try to bring ends up in disappointment. Raids are suppose to be end game content but I found bloom worse than any raid boss I’ve every faced, granted I’ve only done first wing. This is suppose to be some medium end content and I feel like it’s a nightmare. I think I’ll skip every swamp until it’s addressed.
I don’t mean to be a downer but I felt like my raid runs have been easier than 89
(edited by KickzNGigglez.4958)
I think another big important thing we need to consider is the backlash from WvW and PvP communities will have when they hear pve is getting more rewards.
We used to have monthlys like you suggested for weekly objectives. However once the players finished them within the first few days they stopped logging in for the whole month lol. I can see someone logging on for weeklys and finishing it in a few hours and log off for the rest of the week.
I like the idea but know realistically there’s going to be a large group unhappy about it. There’s a large group of players that already get upset with the current daily set up because doing 4 events is too hard for them. I honestly don’t want to be on the forums when they start complaining it takes too long to do all their dailys.
While it’s true that the party could bring a boon stripping class like necro or mesmer, you’re forcing someone to change class and run a specific sub optimal build. This is absolutely okay when running with friends and what not. However, in a pug this is unacceptable. It’s selfish to force a party of randoms to work around 1 persons choice class simply because he doesn’t want to bring something else.
I hear there might be changes to guardian, but I’d prefer changes to fractals
I’ve been playing for hours and just completed all the achievements for the story. However during my time in the map I don’t think I’ve seen this event succeed once. I think it might need some tweaking or something. I feel like the shards barely tickle the shield. Opinions?
Since living storie episodes get retired or put into the gem store eventually, what happens to bloodstone fen when that happens? New maps have been part of the living story before, but there was always a portal if we didn’t have the LS episode.
I would like the change, but people unwilling to read are already intimidated by the amount of tabs and selections. Maybe it’d be a good way of re purposing that asura on that island that lost his job to the new golem.
I’m tired of reading these these OMG MY AR IS RUINED THREADS so I’m going to help you by making a click bait title so that’d you’d read this before posting the 5th thread on the same topic.
If you were running a standard AR build it was something like 14x +7s, 2x +11s, and 3 +10s. With the patch you lost the amulet slot so you’re freaking out over the loss of 7AR. However your inability to read patch notes made you overlook the fact that all infusion slots that aren’t on amulet take AR infusions now. The new npc in the fractals allows you to break down your bigger infusions into smaller ones.
First extract all your large infusions. Extract the versitiles as well if you want the relics. Here’s how to do the exact break down.
Take your 2 +11s and break them down into
6x +9 and 4x +8
Take 2 of your +10s and break them into
8x +8
In the end you get 6x +9 and 12x +8
6×9= 54 12×8=96 54+96=150
You have one +10 left over to sell for like 20 or more gold or something. Oh no you made money~ How dare ANET give you money!
(edited by KickzNGigglez.4958)
break down the big infusions
and reapply
congrats you have more than 150 AR and extra infusions to sell for gold
I’ve listed a bunch of alternative ways to hit 150 but I guess no one likes to read and enjoys posting the same QQ
(edited by KickzNGigglez.4958)
6x +9= 54
12x +8= 96
150 AR
You’ll actually probably make back some money by selling the extra infusions after breaking them down.
9x +7 = 63
9x +8 = 72
Fractal potion = 15
for budget set
(edited by KickzNGigglez.4958)
Easy fix is to just have the deconstruction available up to 20. My assumption is the Devs didn’t want to clog up the menu or assumed that no one was crazy enough to go over 13. Which is weird because min maxers were required 4 × 16 which devs should know exist in their game. I’m confident it’ll be fixed in the next update.
With the introduction of INFUZ-5959 There’s no longer a reason to visit Dessa’s Krewe [Merchant] on that island that you need a mastery to access in the fractals. How do you expect that asura to pay his bills and feed his family? Is he doomed to die a lonely death on that isolated island?
I don’t see the problem, the fix is like less than a gold. Just extract one of your rings and break up the large infusions.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4ur7x4/new_ar_infusion_calculations/
Someone asked me to do so calculations for them and I figured if I was going to put in the work I should share it. Feel free to double check my work as I’ve most likely misclicked something while inputting the numbers.
Edit: Just saw the post get down voted like 5 times after I posted it. Guys I just did the calculations, I’m not making you buy the infusions lol.

No retal or protection on Fractals 81+ because of boon thief
Retal tends to wipe parties or create awkward moments in which you’re sitting there waiting for it to wear off or boon strip/corruption to come off cooldown.
As for protection It would honestly be better if you just weren’t in the party. 33% damage reduction is like 1 and 2/3s of a persons worth of damage.
I feel the anti necro sentiment is simply a relic of the dungeon meta and those who can’t let it go. 2nd reason I can come up with is that some players stuck to fractal 40 grinding and only did swamp past that. T4s are a whole different level in my opinion. Players need to let this mind set die out because it prevents them from getting any better. Our play styles need to adapt to the times or else we’d still be stuck doing terrible comps like 4 warrior 1 mesmer meta.
The old dungeon meta doesn’t work for every fractal encounter for various reasons. Some encounters don’t allow you to neatly stack, Some encounters require you to range for a bit, other encounters require you to move around, and more importantly nothing in the T4 range dies within the duration of optimal buffs.
I don’t play necro but I’m well read enough to understand that they play a valuable spot in the party. They counter boon thieves of high level fractals, absorb condition damage, provide surviability to the party without buffing the mobs, and deal some of the highest aoe damage, and have high sustainable damage on the run.
Here’s a list of fractals and where necromancers are handy.
Aquatic- Epidemic blows up the small jelly fish that spawn and any conditions that do get through are absorbed making the encounter nearly impossible to fail.
Swamp- lingering conditions will eventually kill the mossman when he does his transformation on the last 10%. This prevents the kittenstorm of resing that happens on occasion when someone misses their CC. Epidemic is also nice for the wolf that spawns with him. For bloomhunger necros can get through the hard cc immunity, epidemic the spirits, and strip any boons the spirits might have applied.
Uncategorized- Minions can block the staircase lazers, minions can block poison bolts from old tom, If no minions poison clouds can destroy projectiles, can remove protection from the two kitten bosses, can epidemic the 4 kitty golems to death.
Urban Battle Ground- Epidemic makes the clearing process easy and the range of the scepter is great when the boss sits in his firestorm where melee classes need to wait or swap to an unoptimal range weapon.
Molten furnace- Epidemic for the clearing process, absorbion of any burns party might take, and the core can be condi’d before the last phase resulting in a instant break of the core.
Snowblind- Epidemic for the clearing process, Epidemic for the elementals that spawn during the sub boss, lingering conditions for the main boss.
Aetherblade- Epidemic for the clear, on the move damage on the golems, epidemic to make fast work of the encounter.
Thermanova Reactor- On the move dps
Volcanic- Easy epidemic clear on the first encounter, conditions goes through molten shield when waiting for flaming rocks, Epidemic for the elementals that spawn during the final boss.
Mai Trin- Absorbs high condition damage that mai puts out and Epidemic for when goons spawn
Molten Boss- on the move dps when berseker is teleporting around and the party can’t stay stacked because sea of flames.
Solid Ocean- Joke fractal that’s near impossible to fail. Epidemic does help with the clearing though.
All you EU peeps are great, but I’m on NA. I’ve got finals this week so I won’t be able to play for a while adding to my frustration, but I really do feel like this is a problem. The fight is doable, but finding people for this achievement is so frustratingly rare. I’ve used both achievement and heart of thorns lfg twice each before timing out and couldn’t get a single person interested. I feel like I have an easier time getting a 10 man raid organized.
Edit: Finally got a group of randoms to try it. However their skill and equipment didn’t seem up to par for the challenge. The fight didn’t seem difficult like T4 fractals but the only ones interested in the amulet seem to be casuals who just want to do the achievement. I think I’ll give up on the achievement and just grind out raids for my vipers gear. It’s unfortunate to think that most condi builds are gated by ridiculous bars when I could just go out and get a set of berserker gear so easily.
(edited by KickzNGigglez.4958)
I’m really confused. You can upgrade them. It costs like 75 fractal relics to upgrade from +5 to +7. Am I just not understanding you?
He’s talking about the ones with +5 stats
currently there’s no +7 with increase of stats. Therefore the old expensive infusions became inferior unless you wanted to buy 5 +16 agony infusions to keep your already expensive +5 ar +5 w/e stat
This probably wasn’t a problem doing a few weeks after launch, however I can’t find a party for this at all. I listed on LFG until it timed out three times and not a single person joined. I find it ridiculous to gate the vipers amulet on dead content. It’s like saying I’m not allowed to run a certain build because no one else is willing to run the story on extreme mode. I tried asking a few guilds I’m part of but only maybe one guy out of the twenty online is even remotely interested.
Necro honestly would be the safest profession for PVE solo. However warrior imo has more mobility and straight damage.
People only really come onto the forums to complain. People enjoying the game are playing it. I’m the rare portion that actually looking for info in the mess.
Man those are disgustingly high rates for end game gear. Here people were worried loot got nerfed. Old daily chest pale in comparison. I am however annoyed by the lack of any actual gold value bar T7 mats and matrices.
I’ve looted 4 glove boxes so I sort of understand your pain. However, I sort of understand because it keeps me from relying on these boxes. This also makes the hours of maxing every crafting somewhat relevant.
So I’ve got nearly 4 sets of ascended armor, so I decided to try a light armor class because playing my warrior was getting stale. However, I’m mechanically challenged as I suffer from chronic wrist pain. It was suggested that I’d try necro since the rotations are pretty easy. I tried power reaper, but the greatsword felt too clunky and hated when I missed that one 50% minion with my gravedigger throwing off the rest of the fight. So I’m looking for some advice about condi reaper which is gaining popularity in higher level content like raids and T4 fractals. I figured viper gear swap won’t be too hard, but I don’t have any shards for the trinkets. I do have the amulet and the legendary back piece. Would my damage output still be fine with sinister rings and accessories? Also what runes do I use? I asked this in chat and there was a huge debate between thorn and berserker.
The problem with this is that you’d have a few races stronger than others. At one point of the game norn racial skills functioned like fgs and had to be nerfed. I agreed with this because I didn’t want to roll a different race to be optimal.
