Everyone stop! I don’t need mithral to be another 300 silk or 200 leather.
10 whole levels for a single hero point? That’s a little bit absurd. The concentration of tome of knowledge is already high enough as it is. If all of this is handed to you what is there to even work for in pve?
The heart of thorns map is what I consider real max level maps in that it’s challenging. However, in no way it’s unfair. First thing you need to do is respect the monsters in your path. Understand their strengths and weaknesses. Raptors are frail and can be cleaved down. They also leap at you a sec after entering aggro range and pause for a long period afterwards. Dodge the initial attack if your opening strike does kill them and punish their windup time. Look before you leap, many dangers can be avoided by taking in your surroundings. Many of the monsters have a set pattern. You may die a few times figuring it out, but they’re not random and chaotic. When you successfully get it down it’ll be rewarding and feel great. If you get frustrated, know that I belive in you.
Yeah the game is a tad weird in its power progression. There are obviously boosters, but leveling is easy enough to the point where no one really minds. End game gear is very accessible so we find ourselves spending our money on cute armors, outfits, and dyes. Most gem store items are mostly for convenience such as the copper fed salvage machine which I keep in my shared inventory slot that came with the level 80 booster. If you randomly have any questions feel free to mail me ingame. I spend more time than I should on this game.
There’s a drop down menu in your inventory when you click the gear on the top right hand side. There should be an option to deposit crafting materials or something like that and that should make things easy if you salvage useless stuff and harvest a lot. Bag size is pretty terrible for f2p, I honestly dont have an answer for that. You may have to fork over 10 gold for 20 slotted bags. However, if you’ve got a standard account you can get away with 8 slot bags until 80, which are a few copper on the Trading post. At 80 you can complete the bandit weapon collection fairly cheaply. Unlock the collection in silverwaste and get the skins through karma for a 20 slot bag. Buying them straight up isn’t too terrible of an idea either as you can always resell them when you come by cheaper solutions, for example fractal bags if you ever get into that.
Cool idea, but not one I’d push for very hard. It’s not that it’s a terrible idea, but I believe there are bigger game changing things the devs need to be working on. Naming a bad would just spark a “oh cool” at best and I’d probably forget about it.
I led a rather unorganized rag tag team with my commander tag the other day while trying to get achievements done. We got to like 3 and 3/4 and I received a box. The bosses were really easy, the problem was getting people to move around and collect supplies during night. I’m sure there are better organized commanders out there that can get tier 4 effortlessly.
I’m currently 21 short but I haven’t really done much DS, TD, or even finished the story so I’m pretty close to where you are right now. There are definitely an excess of mastery points allowing you to skip a good number of them. I’ve reviewed each available mastery point and figured which ones were easiest and did those first. I think I completed the insights and strongboxes first and went down the list from there. I’ve found the challenges to be hit or miss. Some I just settled for silver and moved on. I feel no rush to get all 166 right now because I know there will be more available once living story continues. If you’re completely against all challenges I guess you’ll have to wait. However, some of them are definitely more fun than others. Give them all a shot.
When you swim in, just say: stack melee. No one has ever not listened to me when I do that.
last time I said that I got laughed at and was told that’s dumb because jellyfish stuns
I still run generic GS/X PS warrior in T4. X usually means Longbow or mace/shield depending on the encounter. I have frostfang, but never ran into the situation where it was a good idea. I don’t really change much in terms of the usual utility slots, but the heal gets changed up a lot depending on encounter. Most guides suggest blood reckoning but it’s a lack luster skill and generally gets you killed if you have nothing to hit.
I think burnzerker is an okay build, I was actually going to build another ascended armor set, but then the numbers got nerfed and it never really crossed my mind again. I was a little hesitant anyways since the effigy in molten bosses is burn resistant. I still would have liked the alternate option but Anet loves to chip our abilities down.
Personally I don’t think your team really cares as long as you’re dropping banners and providing might. Our personal dps is pretty much on par with the other support classes.
I regards to world bosses, they’ve always been pretty big. However I feel there’s only a select few which are interesting. Claw of jormag, tequatl, triple trouble, and shatter are pretty fun, the rest are sort of blown up because of the number of people who show up to them. Heart of thorns meta events are pretty fun, although challenging for a few. However, it seems like you’re familiar with mmos in general and will be fine. The quest lines are actually pretty cute if you look at them outside of an objective view. For example there’s a skritt that falls in love with an exalted in aric basin and try your best to help her piece him back together so he’ll love her. HOTS is full of events and action, but it’s limited to about 3 maps currently. However I’d argue they’re the size of 6 general core tyria maps. I’d suggest using the LFG tool if you plan on trying to do any big events. For core tyria there’s SW which is always active and world boss train. None of these require a guild, but being part of one wouldn’t hurt.
So how do pugs usually go at this? I’ve seen it go 3 ways usually.
1st scenario, majority of the party stacks and the small jelly fish get cleaved down. The boss breakbar gets broken as soon as it comes back up resulting in little to no damage as the mini jellyfish can’t get their condi up. I assumed this is the optimal and usual way.
2nd scenario, everyone with a ranged weapon sort of whittles it down. Constant fleeing as the jellyfish sort multiply like a plague. Lots of moving around and poking. Over all and painful, but successful. Awkward melee members just help reduce the mini jelly fish numbers as much as possible and try to rally the dead.
3rd scenario, there’s no communication, the melees instantly die because half the team is single target ranging . Everyone still alive tells the dead they’re dumb. Much raging and trash talking and party disbands.
It would be nice to get some sort of standard created for this instance so less of 3rd scenario occurs

Also I can confirm the T4 boxes drop rare rewards at a higher rate. As they were the only ones to drop anything of value.
Got a legging box from initiate, so I guess the drops are definitely there. Hopefully that’s enough to convince the lower level runners to keep on grinding. I still kind of wish there was a decent static reward like the old daily had with items that sold for gold. The resonating silvers are garbage ever since they flooded the market.
I’ve got this done recently. I think what fails it most of the time is when people forget to restealth after dropping the bomb.
It’s to prevent the game from hard farming like the old COF path 1 farm. Some people still hard farm fractal 40, but it’s hardly the same. I prefer it this way, I can move onto other content after my daily. World bosses, dungeons, raids, WvW sometimes maybe. I don’t feel like I’m losing tons of money for not camping one content.
Scale 3 is sort of interesting. Previous levels your typical pug could 100-0 most bosses before they did anything dangerous through brute strength of gear alone. This leaves a lot of individuals to assume that that’s how most encounters are suppose to play out. So when a squad wipes they’re mentally unprepared for it and quit thinking everyone but them sucks because they did just fine in lower scales.
T4 is a bit more forgiving in this respect as dying is not that uncommon. We usually toss our two cents, change up our strategy, or just assume it was just unlucky and try again. However this does not mean it’ll work out if we try hard enough. I had to leave a T4 after 5th wipe because half the squad couldn’t dodge a yellow cone or finish off the cultist before smacking the seal. This leads me to believe that a significant portion of T4 puggers just got access to the lfg through 77 swamp.
That being said some pugs fail even if you have great players. One group of mine disbanded today simply because 3/5 of the group were mesmers and we had no damage output. Everyone played well but the lack of damage dragged out the fight long enough for someone to slip.
IDK what you’re suppose to get out of my rant tbh. Just keep going, every scale is full of frustration. Some individuals don’t adapt as fast as others. You’ll eventually get up there if you’re good enough. Best of luck OP.
I thought that exploit was patched. I personally haven’t seen that being done outside of a youtube clip. All pugs I’ve ran with just fight the effigy, scale 40 is sort of a joke anyways. I’m sure you can find a farming group that wont exploit.
Okay so its been about two weeks since the daily changes and I’ve done every T4 fractal since. In my honest opinion I have no idea what to expect at the end of the day. It’s sometimes garbage, but some days I might even come out with two ascended boxes. It’s actually rare that the pug I run with doesn’t link a box or a material. However, it’s sometimes depressing spending 2 hours doing dailys just to receive potions. On the other hand I can’t not do them because the drop rate on boxes are so high I’ve almost completed a whole new ascended set already.
Also I can confirm the T4 boxes drop rare rewards at a higher rate. As they were the only ones to drop anything of value.
Ironicly the crowbar are the only hots container opener I can’t get rid of
I would like to add that gear isn’t the only thing to take into consideration, but consumables as well. In most decent high level fractal groups I’ve been in everyone has the proper food, utility and 5 stack fractal potion. Obviously you don’t need the best in slot stuff that cost over a gold, you’re still trying to make a profit. However, a few silver from each person goes a long way in a t4 set, especially those fractal potions.
unfortunately fractal pots are so expensive that if you use them all the time (especially while pugging) youll flatline or lose on fractal relics, and i would say its a good bet that most of the people who need the pots also need the relics.
So with 57 fractal relics and 14 pristine (210 regular) you’re somehow still hurting for relics? I feel like you’re just being stingy. At least get the defensive potion for 25 relics I’m so the healer has an easier time and the light armors don’t get instant killed.
You’ll hear a lot of kitten talk in low tier pve content like dungeons and low level fractals. This is because of general misinformation or outdated information. I’m sure people in higher level content are well aware of potential of each class. Only time I’ve had to change class was in a 3 warrior party and I volunteered to do so when they asked because I’m aware of the lack of utility and damage. All warrior being common at one point, now laughable.

Get a good druid which lets your team face tank her the whole fight.
This ^^.
You basically have 2 options.
1. 1 Druid 4 DPS (power or condi). The DPS should be all melee.
2. 5 DPS. Face tank as much as possible to hold her in the circles and then a lot of range after the stacks are goneDid you guys do that on scale 100 or just mai trin in general? I haven’t done it with a druid for this facetanking strategy but it seems that the instability will put near permanent 4 agony stacks on everybody which ends up reducing healing by 93.75%.
I stacked Mai last night easily. I never noticed the condition since the rev, druid, and tempest were running codition clear. I even ran the condition clear heal on my warrior. There might have also been a cool down built into the instability like the boon theif one.
Chronomancer is core in all organized pve groups, can’t say much about other game types unfortunately because Im not experienced in them. Personal dps isn’t the greatest but openworld isn’t really that difficult to begin with.
There’s 139 maguma mastery points
117 for completion
This leaves 22 points available to just skip
I can see this being a problem for a few casuals, but I think once the living story continues you’ll be able to complete them easily. It sucks, but at least it’s not going to be impossible.
Dear OP I’m in the same boat in which I’m rather clumsy and kitten a lot. However with each run of something I slowly get a bit faster or knowledgeable. ANET has been rather generous with some of these activities and I find silver doable with some practice. Gold on the otherhand seems to vary. Fortunately I never felt like I needed to gold all of them.
I suggest watching a video as a sort of guide on the pathing. Then set a time like an hour or two. If you can’t finish it then calmly stop and come back another day. Don’t get frustrated and try to find fun in it.
I know most of the responses seem rather elitist but I think if you should take anything from them it’s that they think it’s possible for you. I believe in you, don’t give up, never stop fighting the fight.
well i carried a friend who is scale 12 through scale 70 molten duo and he got a ring so…. personal level Probably doesn’t even matter.
Rings start dropping at personal reward level 10, so your statement is bunk. If you compare his rewards to yours by the end of the run you’ll notice he’ll receive around 7 relics compared to your 16 relics.
PUGs are sort of in an odd spot right now. My experience tends to vary from group to group. Although a common trend is that I’ve noticed more terrible people in my T4 runs late at night. I’m guessing because they’re usually in failed squads.
I don’t blame them though, the old daily system was sort of terrible. Most things 1-40 were able to be zerked down. Then there was 56 67 and 77 swamp that didn’t take much skill bar the last 10% of mossman and the initial opening of the passages. Now you’ve got sturdy bosses that don’t instantly die and they’re expected to learn all the mechanics they’ve been skipping.
I did my T4 molten bosses run late today because I went out with some friends. 3 of my party members died before we could even get the berserker down to 80%. Only me on my warrior and a very skilled mesmer were left. We tried resing them, but they just died about 15 secs later. Eventually we just left them dead and broke our wrist grinding the thing down ourselves. Hopefully they were able to see how to dodge shockwaves from the greyscreen but realistically speaking they prob just took the free ride and left.
I personally wouldn’t give up on pugs, you’ll meet some really cool people. However, I’d probably get dailys done as soon as possible. If you do give up, I’d probably just look for a guild and have a test run with them. I’ve found that guilds tend to vary in flavor as well.
So with the spring update we’re getting 14 (210 reg relics) of these things per day if you’re doing all your dailys. I’m curious what people are spending them on. I’ve just recently finished the fractal skin collection way ahead of schedule. I’m thinking of prioritizing 20 slot bags on all of my characters, berserker ascended rings, and maybe work on ascended back pieces for all my characters?
Idk, what’s everyone doing with their new spending power?
Honestly the first thing I noticed special about rev was the amazing 2 skill that could be spammed. The jelly fish is a bit harder, but I guess just range it till the break bar shatters and go at it. I’ve honestly haven’t been met with underwater challenge till Fractal 76, but it wasn’t game breaking new difficulty.
Personally haven’t had many issues in zerker build in open world. The majority of the core maps can be easily face tanked or destroyed before they get damage out. However this is probably the problem when entering Heart of thorn maps. It’s generally a bit harder, but everything goes down at a reasonable rate. A few of the larger mobs are a bit dangerous and will require some dodging. Some are even too dangerous to melee and will require some bar breaking and ranging beforehand. I actually enjoy the open world of heart of thorns a lot because of the little extra skill and awareness that it requires.
I don’t know if it’s just me but some fractals are just insanely more difficult than others. The T4 Thaumanova Daily today was like 3 times longer and frustrating than the Mai Trin 100. I know that fractal level doesn’t always reflect difficulty, but I feel like some fractals need to be Cliffside’d. Opinions? Suggestions?
Saw asc boxes every t4 run since Tuesday – I got one too. In my opinion the droprate has increased powerfully, definitely not nerfed.
It’s weird because I also found this to be the case. I looted 2 armor boxes myself, both being shoulders.
Hi everyone,
As stated I’m interested in learning raids. Unfortunately my current guild is on the casual side and I can’t find a group to teach me. I’m fairly experienced on my Phalanx Strength Warrior. I’ve successfully done high end content such as high level fractals so I’m properly geared in ascended. Due to the massive ascended chest drop rate in fractals I also have a light armor and half a medium set made if anyone wants to teach me a new class. I most likely won’t be Repping 24/7, but have no problem repping during guild events. I’m usually available in the afternoon to late evenings PST. Reaching me by in game mail will probably most convenient for me.
Got 2 two ascended boxes in the two days the patch was available. Do we take average and say ascended chest is 100% drop rate? No that’s dumb because it’s a small sample size. You shouldn’t be upset because you haven’t looted ascended gear in 2 days…
Failed miserably with 4 berserker and 1 tempest as expected. One swapped to Rev and I swapped to necromancer for some healing. We smashed it at a decent pace. Since the timer resets after each wipe 25 minutes is pretty forgiving.
Got 1 yesterday night and another the night before. Of course sample size is like 2 days so like I wouldn’t be taking averages just yet lol.
Thank god too or else those lowbies would have to do fractal 100 if they wanted T3 Mai Trin
Trinkets bar the back piece was fairly easy.
First armor set was hard. However I kept all the random ascended chest I got over the time I’ve played. My friend recently told me I could change the stats through a mystic forge recipe. So in under a day I had 3/6 pieces of my armor, a 4th one from lumi armor collection, and 3 ascended weapons with stats I needed.
Also the longer you play the game the more stuff you tend to collect. I splurged on ascended aquabreather yesterday just for funsies because I had a few ascended mats I made daily because I was so used to doing so.
My record is 15 with the last one not counting cause of a last sec scoring. The biggest problem I had was running into invisible platforms and snowballs. It was annoying because I was able to adjust fine for random spikes of lag, but invisible platforms and snowballs are another thing. I’m still happy to get past 10 though since it used to take nearly all 30 minutes to complete the puzzle once. It’s amazing how much practice alone can help you improve on something.
Next you’ll be brutally kicking the daylights out of some poor skritts for wanting to be near a festive dolyak.
Happy Skrittmas Everyone
Hey now those skritt are trying to steal PRESENTS from ORPHANS!
When the dolyak drops them its totally fair game though. I really need the alcohol in those gifts…
…wait….
…the hell, we are giving these to kids????
Those orphans have seen some dark stuff
It’s a shame you can’t use the winter’s presence with winter themed outfits or the scarf shoulders. Usually aura items get their own slots in MMOs, I’m making a pair in hopes Anet figures how amazing of an idea this is. Although the question would be what would the old armor already skined be reverted to?
Hi there and welcome the guild wars!
Warrior is a great class to start with as they tend to have a forgiving hp pool and easy skill rotations. I would say the polar opposite would be elementalist which is a bit overwhelming with the multiple attunements and keybindings required.
Race rarely makes a difference except for an awkward period of time where norn transformations were used as a fiery greatsword replacement. All the starter areas are pretty cool, my personal favorite being the slyvari. I however am bias as I love tattoos and norns are the only race with tattoos.
As for melee, every class generally has close and far range combats and both will be useful. Some melee focused classes carry a spare range weapon for safe tagging of world bosses and some range focus classes opt for melee weapons for dungeon runs because of the higher damage.
I suck at jumping puzzles, it took me all 30 minutes to get one successful run at the beginning. That was two days ago, now I average 8-11 finishes per 30 minutes. I turned on action camera, asked for help, learned to laugh at my own mistakes, and observed the neat tricks a few of the faster people were doing.
Went here for the dusk precursor collection. Unfortunately the chest has been already looted despite not being here for the past few months.
might be another mass DDOS I was unable to access youtube, league, or gw2 for a bit but fine getting to facebook and other websites.
Someone on my stream mentioned that this happens on human male warriors and I noticed it when beta testing revanent. My res was standard 1080 so it seems to be a problem regardless of resolution. You can see the head if you lower height to minimum value but sort of an annoying thing to deal with.
So I was finishing the last 15-20% on my necromancer’s map completion and out of nowhere everyone on the map gets DC’d and their progress rolled back. I’m more annoyed because I had just finished that frustrating jumping puzzle in Dredgehaunt Cliffs.
If you guys don’t like SW you’re probably not going to enjoy the beta anyways. I got one from tagging a random mob during my usual SW runs that I was already doing to finish my 2nd legendary. It’s a closed beta which means there’s suppose to be a low amount of participants. Also this is like day 2 or 3 out of a week, everyone needs to calm down and maybe take a break or something.
Maybe you all should do something to keep your mind off it like making lumi or amberite set for idk funsies.
