make them even harder and reaper skill 2

Holding back on certain skills when it’d be counter productive is a skill in itself. For example a warrior generally wont GS3 if they don’t have rush to get back to the boss or a wall to lower the distance traveled. Rangers have been canceling their full auto combos to prevent themselves from flying around since sword became accepted as meta power weapon. Believe it or not, sometimes you just don’t spam all your skills mindlessly. If you know shroud 2 is going to put you in a bad spot, just don’t.

How do you use your GS ??

When I was running power necro I camped dagger for movement speed and better auto damage. I’d swap GS when something dropped to 50% and just grave digger spam. I found this to work with mixed results as sometimes target would die early or for some reason my hit would miss the target I needed to hit.

I think it would be cool if we had a skill like Ele’s fresh air that allowed us to swap weapon sets on crit or something.

I enjoyed the humor and found soloing the two instances for achievements rather challenging if you didn’t know what you were doing. For example, I died on the last wave of the first instance because I didn’t notice the blue orb that extinguished the flames. Nor did I have a knockback/pull for the final destroying during the last instance so the shield barely dropped under 50%.

The side characters in video games and movies generally are on the weaker side so that the protagonist can shine a bit brighter. We’re also the head of the group so it sort of makes sense we’d have to do the majority of the lifting. I think the npcs have done some pretty rad stuff outside of combat and I think that’s where we should be putting our focus, especially the 16 year old asura puppet master.

I think 300 is just right. The large sum prevents abuse of the system. I remember a week after heart of thorns was released I saw apples flooding the map. If you truly want the tag you can save up the gold for it. If you can’t save up the money then your priorities are obviously else where. I don’t mean this offensively, just saying something else seems to have priority of your gold.

I personally think the 300 gold price tag is currently too low actually. I’ve only logged on long enough to do fractal and wvw dailys 1-2 hrs a day and have been making close to 100 gold a week.

I personally find flux bomb enjoyable as it brings a lot of attention to personal positioning. I enjoy the little game of “where can I drop this so that it’d do the least amount of damage?”. I can’t speak for everyone but my pug groups adapted very good as they seem to get progressively more spacially aware. I sure as we do more runs it’ll just be another mechanic we’ve practiced and mindlessly execute.

I understand the frustration though, It sometimes feels unfair when challenging content is added. However, I feel that fluxbomb is a forgiving instability as it gives you more than enough time to get out of the way.

I currently feel the toxic trail to be more of an issue as it tends to grow rapidly when faced with large packs in tight areas. The combination seems unfair, but I’m willing to give it some time to see if we are able to adapt or the mechanic is truly unfair. I’ve been able to handle the toxic trail by having a druid healer to heal through the toxins or multiple aoe classes to burst the pack before they spread their toxins.

I think the difference between the two instabilities is that flux bomb can be handled by any individual while the toxic trail answers seem to be class dependent so far. I guess it’s up to the devs to decide what they want for fractals. We the players most likely adapt, with a few that will give up on the content.

Social Awkwardness - Can this be removed?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: KickzNGigglez.4958

KickzNGigglez.4958

Ran 90-94-100 today and everyone seemed to be doing alright meleeing. I think social awkwardness is the most forgiving in terms of area denial instabilities. The reduced range and the new visuals actually make the instability more fun and interesting. The comp we ran was heavily melee, warrior/mesmer/druid/rev/necro. We managed by simply spacing out a tad bit, the hitboxes of mobs are rather big actually. Perhaps having a druid made everything easier, but it doesn’t seem to be too big of an issue. We had more issues with the flux bombs during the chest phase, but everyone quickly figured it out when they got the bomb and walked away.

I think the only instability that needs to be looked over is the toxin trail. The damage, area denied, and duration is way too high.

At the end of the day the only thing we’re really getting are infinite potions and access to a less random way of obtaining golden fractal weapons. I thought the point of this was to find sinks for relics. Once we’re done with our golden collections and obtaining our potions we’re still back we were, sitting on top of tons of relics with nowhere to put them. I would have liked some packets like the ones in bloodstone fen, something that’ll continue to have value. I know the devs tried, and I appreciate the effort. Can’t go wrong with a necro, although I’ve noticed the skill level of full necro squads tend to vary more than an average squad. I feel like whenever we do mai trin, my squad has no idea how to condi cleanse and sit near mai to get her shield down or stand near horrik to get off condi bounces. Don’t get me started on break bars, I feel like I’m the only one that uses flesh golem active, warhorn 4, or shroud 3/5 sometimes.

T4s are honestly easy as long as everyone knows what they’re doing. Unfortunately if you pugging, those odds are really low. Most reapers I’ve noticed are either those who are hopeful they’ll get carried or those who skillful, but don’t want to deal with squad randomness.

DPS between Sinister and Viper

in Warrior

Posted by: KickzNGigglez.4958

KickzNGigglez.4958

The answer is yes, sorry. This is not debatable in high end pve content.

Viper has two major stats, power and condition. So you get some on extra on impact damage. Sinister has both, but only condition is a major.

The condition duration is a huge damage increase as the longer conditions are on the more ticks of damage a boss takes. At +100% condition duration, you’re essentially doing twice as many ticks of damage than you would otherwise. This becomes even more important if you have a necromancer who’s trying to bounce the conditions around.

I would however look at which builds you plan on running. Not all condi builds use full vipers. Some classes only need a few viper equipments for 100% duration on the condition they need.

All trinkets are available in raids. You can get a few in bloodstone fen. Rest will be released in future content.

so luck. gotcha

I think the current average is something like 1 every two weeks? It’s actually not uncommon to develop a stash. Anyone who does daily fractals knows the pain of holding onto 4 glove boxes or something along those lines.

I’ve been doing the fractal daily whenever I’m not swamped with schoolwork and have a decent sized stash considering I’ve only been playing an average of an hour a day the past month.

I’m currently sitting on

  • 1x selectable armor box from wvw
  • 2x Coats
  • 1x Shoulder
  • 3x Leggings
  • 4x gloves

I have 3 full sets of ascended armor and only crafted one of those to run fractals. The only thing I’ve had to really craft are the weapons and aqua breathers and most of those were just because I was bored.

I however get it, I have a lot of friends who are still trying to get to T4. I think the random boxes are good way of stopping fractals from spilling out full sets of ascended armors. I would like a way to convert the boxes for ones I can use, but I honestly can wait a month or so to finish a new set.

ive been doing dailys and only have done like a week of t3’s. honestly grinding my first full set of ascended has been a major pain esp when the insignia alone costs 70 gold. its not even that i need ascended “kinda do for raiding though” but id like to get a decent drop for once. maybe a exotic or 2?

The insignia is the majority of the cost and is only 70 gold if you buy it straight off the tp and round up. I think it’s misleading to say “just the insignia” when it’s generally 50-75% of the cost of the armor piece. Only the medium chest is the only armor that cost over 100 gold. Ascended equipment is significantly more accessible since release. There’s currently 4 collections available for selected armor pieces. 2 of them being very reasonable. Weapons also got more accessible with specialization collections.

https://gw2efficiency.com/crafting/calculator/48079-Zojja's-Doublet

I don’t think you need much luck or need to do any significant grind to gain access to one set of ascended armor currently, which is why I’m rather indifferent to suggestions like this thread.

  • Joining the wrong type of party. If you’re new and you join a squad with the “exp” tag, expect them to notice and kick you.

It’s funny you should mention that. I hadn’t played for a while and I was wondering if they meant experienced or explorable with that simply because when I opened up the group finder and saw one group with story and another with exp. So I went with the exp group because I wanted to do the explorable version. Lucky for me I managed anyway.

I can imagine new players making that same mistake.

I agree, I think most parties should just type out experienced when using the lfg to fill a exp group. Although I think dungeons are currently so easy with the raw power of elite specializations that we can honestly move past that. Only portions you’d need some experience is on the stealth skips. The little gimmicky stuff like the door openings in CoF1 can honestly be taught in a few secs. From a combat perspective, many classes have simplistic rotations like the daredevil staff. It’s only when you get that axe necro or perma rifle warrior you start questioning things.

My only complaint about new maps is that there’s very little breathing room. I feel like I can’t look away from my screen at any time because a mob will spawn and gank me. Blood fly fen has been a big improvement. While I’m not a fan of the homing attacks, at least I have a reason to use glider 4. The high elevation of the map allows me to find a few safe spots where I can take a quick break as well.

I’ve always considered shroud temporary hp to stall for my heal skill cooldown. Only other time I really pop it is to break the defiance bar. I feel like being able to heal in shroud makes it really strong, especially on a build that generates lots of lifeforce. As mentioned above, there are a few traits that play towards this sort of playstyle “vampiric” and “blighter’s boon” which I feel is in sweet spot.

The biggest problem with givers is that the only offensive portion of gear is the precision, and that’s just a minor trait. As mentioned above, there’s many ways of achieving a large percent of condition duration without sacrificing stats.

Base damage is still a large portion of condition builds and if you’re not willing throw in the gold to craft for it I wouldn’t bother with it at all.

Throw too much stuff into the early maps and people get overwhelmed. My first experience through hots was frustrating confusing and I put it as side for a few weeks. A few of my guild mates still refuse to do the content. I cant imagine someone starting the game and have to deal with buffed up mobs.

  • Artificer is available for even numbers.
  • Having all options at the vendor complicates the menu, which is already plenty complicated now.
  • It’s not necessary: you can reach AR+150 entirely with AR+7 and AR+9.

Mind you, I think there are other ways that ANet could have set up the interface to achieve the same purpose, but this method works, even if it’s not very pretty or elegant.

My response was for the guy who said artifice had no use outside of leveling crafting. I was not suggesting artifice was superior. I was just stating a boon to using it. I well aware of all the AR combinations if you’ve read my other post in the fractal, dungeons, and raids section of the forums. in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

KickzNGigglez.4958

I’m going to say that much of the toxicity spoken of is usually mob mentality. It’s more likely that someone will leave a group out of frustration than someone getting kicked. If a kick happens, there’s usually a good reason for it. Of course there’s always a toxic experience mentioned on the forums, but no one is going to go on the forums and be like “Just got kicked out of a party, but they were very nice about it” thread.

general reasons why people get kicked

  • Not well geared or wrong set of gear. Had to kick a engi because he was running trinkets with toughness causing him to draw aggro. We were willing to wait on him to get another set if possible, but he didn’t have one.
  • Unwilling to bring what’s expected of their class. Most people are skeptical of special snowflake, but surprisingly majority of the groups I’ve been in were willing to give it a try. My first VG kill had a condi elementalist. However, everyone has an expected role. If you’re the only warrior in the party and you’re not giving might or carrying banners expect to be asked to change builds or get kicked.
  • Joining the wrong type of party. If you’re new and you join a squad with the “exp” tag, expect them to notice and kick you. If you’re new join a party with “teaching” or “mentoring” in the title. You can even join one without, just make sure you tell them you’re new.
  • Toxic behavoir from the individual . I met one today in a AC run who gave the whole party kitten for wiping when he just entered. We wiped because we were 3 maning a boss and we thought we had the blue bar broken but my skale venom wore off at the last 10%. I couldn’t dodge the dangerous attack because I dodged earlier for the bonus damage on my warrior. He kept egging us for the whole run even though we destroyed the rest of the encounters in mere seconds. I considered kicking, but I whispered the rest of the party beforehand. They told me to just ignore him since we only had like a minute left.

kitten man, I beat this subject to death when the changes came out. I sort of wished you used the search function. However, this gives me a chance to throw in some new stuff I’ve taken into consideration. Please refer to https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agony_Infusion for pricing on basic infusions. I’m not willing to do conversions for every single set.

2nd EDIT: Tears of Alba only give 10 AR if you don’t have the fractal attunement mastery maxed out. I’ve been maxed out for months so I sort of forgot, sorry.

True Budget 150 AR

  • Anguished Tear of Alba +15 AR (40 copper +1 relic)/1hr duration
  • 9x (+7 infusions) = 63 AR
  • 9x (+8 infusions) = 72 AR

15 + 63 + 72 = 150

Basic AR Build w/o potion

  • 12x (+8 infusions) = 96AR
  • 6x (+9 infusions) = 54AR

96 + 54 = 150

Min/Max Build (+5 stat infusions)

*12x (9 AR +5 stat infusions) = 108AR + 60 extra stats
*6x (
7 AR +5 stat infusions) = 42AR + 30 extra stats

(108AR + 60 extra stats) + (42AR + 30 extra stats) = 150AR +90 Extra Stats

refer to https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/INFUZ-5959#vendor30 for pricing and crafting process on +5 stat infusions

Edit: If you want to use Angished Tear of Alba with the +5 stat infusions

  • Anguished Tear of Alba +15 AR
  • 5x (+9AR +5 extra stat infusion) = 45 AR + 25 extra stats
  • 13x (+7AR +5 extra stat infusion) = 91 AR + 65 extra stats

(15AR) + (45AR +25 stats) + (91AR +65 stats) = 151AR + 90 AR

I originally didn’t put this in since I figured if you’re going to pay to min/max you’d pay to be lazier, but this is definitely the cheaper route of reaching max stats from infusions while maintaining 150 AR.

I blame the design choices when it came to the names.

Infusing Is Too Expensive

Infusing a backpiece and rings is way too expensive. 250 ectos for each piece is way overboard!
(You can’t get infused viper/sinister rings as a drop)

For example, at the moment infusing all your gear would cost 84.4 gold each. That’s 422g total. Just for infusing. In ectos alone! I’m not even talking about crafting ascended armor & weapons…

Only the backpack has that 250 ecto cost. The rings have a much more reasonable infusion recipe. The rest of the gear only require the infusion. You’ll never have to go past +9 infusions to reach 150 AR and those aren’t expensive at all.

Small change to fractal daily?

TLTR: I feel like there should be a daily rec for each tier rather than 2 randomly selected from 1-40.

The island system doesn’t reward veteran runners for doing lower fractals. The daily rec almost solves this problem, but it doesn’t cover T3s. 1-40 is only half the climb and things get significantly tougher from there on. This would be the prime time to get some veteran participation to help those who are still climbing.

Laurel system.

you can totally raid in exotics. you can totally do fractals (up to i think end of tier 1) in exotics. there are plenty of ways to get ascended gear aside from crafting

thats cute. now go try it irl and watch it never happen. no one will take you. no one.

No, that’s fairly accurate. There are plenty of raiders that go in exotics, the -10% damage/armor is hardly noticed as long as players don’t drop. The biggest drop in damage is from having to pick someone up usually. qT has shown how forgiving the raids can be with their 5 man gorseval. I’m not saying the OP should be able to play out of his mind, but 10 man raid squad in exotics is definitely doable and there are many guilds and teaching squads out there for them.

As for fractals, you definitely can do the first tier in exotic. The fractal potion with the mastery gives 15 AR. Mai Trin 25 only requires 17 for maximum coverage. A few exotic back pieces even have infusion slots in them.
