Think its more then that, its almost like the agony bugs out heals completly at sometimes..

I’ve lost of how many times I’ve used my guardian signet heal only to not heal a single hp, even in tiers i only take 1% AR dmg.

Personally think there is some bug there..

Each new piece of AR gear is meant to allow you to progress to further fractal levels, which have increasingly better rewards compounding with higher scaling difficulty.

What ?? better rewards? where?

From wiki :

lvl26-39 Ascended Ring (Infused), Fractal Weapon, Pristine Fractal Relic
lvl40-49 Ascended Ring (Infused), Fractal Weapon, Pristine Fractal Relic

Same rewards

I think he means drops, and even if not, fractal weapons and rings have a higher chance to drop in higher levels, I believe, which is better rewards, kind of…

however weapons and rings are both limited to the daily chest, so personally havnt found much reason to run fractals just to run them when its not for daily, even at such a high difficulty lvl stuff like CoF has a hell of a alot higher payout rate.

As for the drops themselves, while i have noticed some diffrence based on tier, I don’t think it is near worth the extra effort that is put into completing the higher ones.

you can do 30 fine with 25 tbh

And I must admit I kinda HATE that you have to invest near 100g into back for a measly 5 AR, while I see others get stuff upwards of 10g a run, I’ve never passed the 5g line myself, and average 2g.. thats a hell of alot of fractal runs to infuse that back.

I’m just going to say this, and probably get crucified by most of the people.
Isn’t that kind of, pay to win?
I know you can take a ranger, but what if I don’t want a ranger, I automatically need to get gems.

I just simply think that you’re not supposed to go that high until the rest of the AR gear comes out.
Also correct me if I’m wrong but
2 fully upgraded rings – 30 AR
fully upgraded back piece – 15 AR
ascended amulet – 5 AR (I have no clue can you upgrade it to 15)
that would mean that you can stack 50 to 60 AR on yourself out of items available at this point. Maybe getting it to full would help you to die less?

2 fully upgraded rings 20 AR
1 fully upgraded backpiece 10 AR
Triforge 5 AR (gl affording)

and in 12+ days we may get the ascended amulets of laurel vendor which MIGHT be infuseable, which would bring it to a total of 40 if they are.

Precursors: Will it ever end?

Once again the flawed assumption that the precursor is the entire legendary or even close..

It is when you have everything else… And at the moment even starting from scratch the precursor is the biggest cost.

So if you spent countless hours farming the rest of the legendary, you should be held back for months simply because the precursor price is rising faster then the average gold per hour someone will make?

And yeah the precursor is the one item in the legendary that cost the most, that is kinda the problem duh, or more correctly the pace at which its cost is increasing the problem.

Munki: not to even mention the fact that Gs has two chances of a precursor per try, compared to the rest.

Is this a fair fix for precursors?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kilrain Daggerspine.6843

As I said before, the above “solution” has only two outcomes.

1. Everyone and their dog and their dog’s fleas has a legendary.
2. The system is actually so hard skill-wise that 99% of players can’t even hope to get a legendary.

In either case much crying would ensue.

actually

1. Everyone and theyr dog and theyr dog’s fleas has a precursor, and some are motivated to farm the remaining 75% of the legendary.

I don’t get where people got this insane notion from that once you get the precursor you already got the legendary, it is as far from the truth as it could possibly be.

The only thing handing out completly free precursors would change is this.

1: 25% of the legendary grind would be cut.
2: The prices of the remaining 75% of the grind would increase as a result of more people being motivated to grind it.

overall not a whole lot would change in regards to the difficulty of getting the legendary, the diffrence is no mather how expensive materials you need 250 of, you can always buy one and one and slowly work your way towards the legendary.

The current implentation of the precursor does nothing but act as a block for people who want the legendary, but can’t possibly spend 6+ hours per day grinding the same dungeon just to keep up with inflation, infact I would go so far as to say that the current implentation is the exact opposite of what i imagine the precursors was ment to be.

If it was not there to serve as a motivator to keep on grinding the rest of your legendary, then it really never served a purpose to begin with.

That said I personally disagree with this idea as a fix, and I do belive precursor should take alot of work to get, but it should not be near unobtainable trough reasonable means, which alot of the precursors are atm.

I have just started using “kitten” as a substitute in game for when things aren’t going well. I get more than a few “what was that about” statements, but those who have been on these forums always give me a ROFL back.

Ive seen this happen and done it too, people even make joke and sarcasm of the system.

Well the system is a joke, with enough people using kitten as a substitute for actually profanity, it will eventually be considered profanity aswell simply because it implies profanity..

Fact of the mather is punishing someone for being offensive with theyr use of profanity, or directing they profanity at a player, I completly support.

However when I swear in reaction to a situation, rather then at a person I expect that to be allowed, of course this does not mean I expect to be allow to spam with map or even say with profanity, nor do I expect to be allowed to use any sexually, racially or religiously related profanities. Ursan, I can’t speak for anyone else, but I see no expected values in the mf, for there to be we would need to be able to find the average amount of rares required to get a dusk, and I have yet to see such calculations for obvious reasons.

Every single time you put 4 rares into that mf the chance of getting precursors is exactly the same.

It is very much like playing the lottery in rl, a very small minority EVER wins.

while I agree at some point that gambling is your only option, I do not belive it is a viable option, and most definatly not a favourable one.

someone undercutting him, and people deciding not to buy a item, is not the same thing is it now.. his greed created a oppurtunity for someone else to benefit of it by undercutting, dosnt mean the average price didnt increase as a result of it.

and that is how the price is increasing slowly but surely, not in one big jump.

not intended for casuals, really? your logic here seems somewhat flawed, casuals need a goal to keep them busy while waiting for new content as much as those of us who are no-lifers do.

As for your “i’m not paying x gold” theory, I don’t belive you are naive enough to think that will ever happen.

There is no reason a legendary should be unobtainable to the casual over a long period of time with the exception of certain precursors.

I don’t get why so many people seem to have this illogical fear that if precursors were less rare that the legendary would be to easy to get.

quite the opposite, precursors would go down sure, but more people would be motivated to go for the legendary, as such the other materials would increase in price due to demand, however these items are split as such they are still completly possible to obtain, it just takes time and dedication.

which is how it should be.

people have thrown 1500+ rares in the mf and not gotten it, by todays values thats 35sx1500 , for there to be a softcap on the price, there would have to be some sort of reversed DR when throwing weapons in the MF, where at somepoint you reached 100% chance before it reset.

The fact that the only weapon that is worth trying to get in the MF is the dusk, shows that there is a problem with the current way of obtaining them.

If anet are to keep the precursors as they are today I would atleast suggest they split each up into 4 components to be combined in the MF, this way you would be able to buy it piece by piece, instead of putting up all the gold at once.

The real problem is that people assume that simply because people “whine” about the prices of precursors they are whining at the difficulty of getting a legendary in general.

FACT is the precursor is a small part of the legendary, and even if it wasnt near impossible to get the legendary would still be PLENTY difficult to get.

The problem with precursor it is such a high demand item with such a low supply, and it can’t be bought piece by piece, which means the value of the item is increasing at a more rapid rate then what most players can hope to keep up with, which is bad design tbh.

And if anything the precursor is there to serve as a motivator to keep you grinding the rest of the crap for legendary.

If its not there would be no reason to have a WEAPON with STATS in the recipe at all.

As for your theory that legendaries are there to reward players that are good at playing the tp… honestly.. no one is better at playing the tp then the ones who do it so that they make a real life profit out of selling gold etc, I don’t see what purpose Anet would have for rewarding them, considering they directly compete with theyr own currency “gems”.

Is a legendary something everyone should obtain? no.

Is a legendary something everyone should be ABLE to obtain? yes!

I spend upwards of 6+ hours in fractals per day and judging by my current income I don’t have a snowballs chance in hell of ever getting the precursors.

The rest of the materials are a diffrent story, because I can obtain them one by one over a long period of time, without being majorly punished by the ever increasing price of the precursors.

i would suggest making the precursor easy to obtain, but make other parts of the legendary process harder. Also each ingredient should be account bound, so that you cant simply buy mats from the TP. Perhaps there shouldnt be ingreedients but achievements that would award you with a part of the recipe.

Not easy perhaps, but in general I agree.. the precursor should serve as more of motivation to keep grinding the rest of the legendary, rather then serving as the final nearly obtainable step.

The way precursor is added currently is bad, the more popular precursors have such a high demand vs supply that the gold price of the item is going up more per day then even some power gamers such as myself can gather.

Sadly I do not agree with mf giving tokens, mf is about gambling tbh.

Personally I really like the idea of achivements giving you parts of the precursor, I feel it is a big mistake to have your chance at getting it based on your wealth rather then what you accomplish.

And yeah I agree a big mark would be to easy on boss like shaman, its a bigger issue on smaller mobs like the dredge.

As for liking hard content, I love it.. the problem is when it becomes so messy that I have to not only worry about staying alive dodging the arrow at melee range, but when i have to run out every 5 seconds to res a squishy.

Then it just becomes stressful.

I know alot of people who play without holding right mouse button etc, which allows you to constantly be on the move, for people like this these there is simply no way for them to deal with this many diffrent effects etc at once.

And while I agree hard fractals should be for people with some “skill” I don’t agree that it should be for people that play in one specific way.

just my two cents.

I definatly agree that I like the fights in themselves arch, my problem with volcano boss is simply i find that 90% of the groups i end up in have atleast 2-3 people who need to be directly carried trough it, because it is to complex for them..

And I also like the idea behind harpies, and it could be fine if they:

1: Fixed agroo from harpies above you in first stage.
2: Made the Markers indicating where ball would land, solid red so that the lines wernt lost outside the edges.

the Dredge trash however feels borderline like a glitch, I have yet to get a group that didnt die atleast a few times trying to get the bombs to the door, or trying to get to reset spot after freezing the other door.

Back to volcano boss, as a guardian I find the agony arrow to be problematic, I rarely if ever have time to dodge away from it since im in his face 90% of the fight, In all honesty I think the lack of a over the head symbol for heavy attacks is a mistake, I realise it makes it alot easier.. but currently we got so many effects running on the boss and around the boss that it can be near impossible to spot that charged attack.

This is especially noticeable on bosses like rabovich that hits like a truck, but he is so small that a single guardian with torch can make him near impossible to predict.

While I have always been able to finish the volcano fractal regardless of fractal lvl, it is by far the one i find the least enjoyable.. that last boss just has SOOOOOO much room for error, I spend more time reviving party members then i spend on the boss in this fractal, even when playing with people who have shown themselves to be experienced in other fractals.

Personally I feel there is way to much going on in this fight.. I dare say it is a tad to complex, which ends up making it just plain stressful at higher lvls.

This boss, and the trash mobs from dredge fractal aswell as mossman are pretty much the only reason I can only handle 1 or 2 fractals per day without getting burnt out.

while i greatly enjoy the rest of the fractal content, with the exception perhaps of the cheapish harpy knockbacks past 10.

15 mins for the old monthly wvw achivement? id like to see that, besides the issue is not the time when in regards to WvW, its the fact that the average computer simply cannot handle WvW, as such its not viable for alot of people.

Tarang, I fear you may have misunderstood me, I did not mean how can the player selling them justify it, I am not naive, and would not sell a precursor for less then it is worth myself.

I ment how can anet justify making the precursors so rare that value of the item is increasing at a faster rate per day then what the average gamer can possibly make per day.

Goldi, my problem is not with the item being rare, my problem is with the fact that your statement “a goal that everyone can eventually reach” is wrong, when the price of the item increases faster then what most players can earn per day, you earn 10g, the precursor goes up 11g, see the problem?

And yes I realise that I have not been around as long as some of you, and I am not expecting to get the legendary anytime soon, I do however expect to feel like I am making progress toward that goal.

Tbh, I have not been around long, only since december, but in that time I have seen a unbeliveably rapid increase in the prices of precursors.

I am far from what you would call a casual gamer, i invest more hours into the game per week then most people, i did 0-20 fractal in 3 days etc, good days i make about 12g and this is running constant fractals/jormag/shatterer I am definatly not lucky when it comes to sellable loot, and i doubt im the only one.

Atm and since december the price of the intresting precursors have been rising more per day then i can possibly make, and like I said I play a unhealthy amount of time per day..

I just don’t see how any logic could justify the current rarity of the precursor.. to me the idea of the precursor is to serve as reason to keep grinding the other 75% of the legendary.. a motivator if you will.. but at current that motivator is pretty much unobtainable unless you:

1: get that one in a MILLION precursor from Mf, which also requires absurd amounts of gold to fuel i might add.

2: get that one in a gazillion precursor from a major chest or random mob.

It is one thing when the materials you need 200+ for etc go up fast in price, because you can buy them over a long period of time, you don’t need to pay for the entire stack in on go.

The problem with the precursor is its a single SUPER rare item, and that gives it far to much power in the market..

quite honestly, tp users might find it unfair, but I feel that any given account should only ever be able to have 1 precursor of the same type in theyr possession, this would make it far more difficult to manipulate.

I’ve seen the posts about scavenger hunts etc (4 months ago -.-), and the post where anet claims they will take steps if need be… I am no economist.. but even to me it is painfully clear that steps need to be taken when a no-lifer like myself has no chance in hell at keeping up with the day to day rise in price of the precursors.

I can’t speak for everyone but getting a legendary is one of the main things that keep a player intrested while waiting for new content.. and when that legendary is near unobtainable, well then there is a obvious flaw in the system.

If you are gonna play a guardian though I STRONGLY suggest you go for the full 50% boon duration from monk-water-sanctuary runes, ontop of being awesome, its the only thing that dosnt scale down.

Pug is possible, but after 10 you really start noticing if you got a bad team.. Then there are those wonderful times when you find a group that actually knows what theyr doing, and it makes you forget about all those horrible experiences in the past.

And while it has never happened to me, I definatly agree allowing 2 people to vote someone out is silly, it should be minimum 3, and like other said it should not be a option after 1 or 2 parts of the fractal has been completed.

WvW stuff never belonged in the normal Monthly in my opinion, there is already a pvp monthly achivement it belongs in there.

I will say though if I ever see any Pvp related stuff in the monthlies or dailies in the future ones i will be sorely disapointed.

One of the problems with WvW is that its designed in such a way that for some players it is completly unreasonable to expect them to do it, the toll WvW takes on the average computer is mind blowing.

And yes there should be nothing stopping or hindering a player from having a fair chance at doing the monthly, especially now that it is a important part of the fractal progression.
