3 Extra Merits?

Really sky?

Also I’d love to see people reliably finding wildman and sotzz in 5 mins.

Also intresting to see more and more people who only ever do t2, claim t3 is fine.

Can you do t3 without preparing? sure, if you luck out with mobs and tracking… is it reliable or skill dependant? no its rng dependant.

The only bounty that you will ever have trouble finding is sottz, because of his ridiculous spawning nature. Its the fact he can spawn practically anywhere and he is also drunk and stationary. Wildman isnt hard. You station people north, east, west, and south of the map, and go against his path, it should only take 3-4 minutes. T2 is doable with 10 people as well. T3 is very doable without hunting down the npcs before hand. Espcially if you have +30 people. Once you have 40, there is no excuse to fail. You can easily put between 6-7 people in each zone, which is plenty if thye know what they are doing. You spread out equally throughout the map. For example, tarban has a veyr straightforward path. Its practically a circle. Goig against his path as one person is difficult, and can take +10 minutes. However if you have 5 people equally split up along his path, it shouldnt take more than 5 minutes, unless he just died.

Who ever said I was failing t3? Like I said before the problem with t3 isnt difficulty, cause lets face it. Its a joke like the rest of guild wars 2 content, the problem is the amount of time required just sitting around planning and organizing to get a reliable win.

I would cheer to see each of the bosses become 2-3 times more difficult, if we were just given the proper ingame tools to organize teams etc, the current tools are beyond horrendus, A good example is the need to go into the highly disfunctional guild menu just to see whos your target, thanks to the frame issues caused by having 400+ members, just doing that takes upward of 30 seconds, and then theres the lack of properly sized groups.

Not to mention that for the average player more then a few zones can take upward of a minute to load, especially if there a boss event going on.

My issue is not with the actual difficulty, its with the “difficulty” that is caused by bad design decissions and overall sloopy worksmanship.

I am not a game designer, so I am not gonna claim I could do a better job designing it, I have however been a mmo gamer for over 15 years, and I know rushed content, and bad design when I see it.

Guild Motd is a perfect example, It has a lovely “edit” button that dosnt actually allow you to edit, but instead you have to write it all over again.

Mm, wildcards like Sotzz and Wildman really dosn’t help the situation.

Not to mention michiele the despawner..

The current implentation really encourages you to spambuild t3’s, and simply keep restarting until you get 6 easy ones, if we are to follow Anthony’s suggested approach..

And the zones wernt filled with testers hyped to see the encounters? that were activly helping trough mapchat by finding the targets?

Don’t get me wrong, Id love to see that.

Ursan: Even with dulfy’s path map in some zones covering that path takes longer then 10 mins.. And with some luck your target gets killed of mid route, in which case its back to spawn without you ever knowing.

You telling me your testers tracked down and killed 6 diffrent targets within 15 mins? that sounds completly unrealistic unless you have upward of a hundred people searching at the same time.

And even then finding them would be based around RNG.

Made a similar post, and it got blocked… It seems they find it easier to sweep the problem under the rug rather then admitting there is a actual problem with the design of guild bounties.

Currently it puts 100% of the pressure on the ones leading them, while the rest of the guild is left holding a target for upward of a hour.

Only to have it grabbed by some random guild doing t1..

Not to mention the lack of groups bigger then 5, the requirement to go into the highly disfunctional guild tab to keep track of targets, etcetc.

Personally I have to use 2 sheets of paper every t3 to keep track of whos doing what, and whos in which 10 man group.. not to mention using voice over programs have become somewhat of a requirement.

And ontop of that I got to trust that no one holding a target suddenly has to take a real life break!

I am used to leading raids in games such as everquest 1, one of the harder mmos ever when it came to raiding (first kills took upward of a year), and organizing the 54 players for those raids without voice over was still a hell of alot easier, and alot less of a headache

Honestly, What the hell is logic behind this addition? the problem with guild bounties isnt the lack of variation, its the amount of time you need to spend organizing for that 15 min mission..

Not to mention the problem of your targets getting killed by other guilds? how about you fix the bounty missions before you start getting bloody fancy…

Personally I have to say Bounty mission feels like a overall terrible design, I am in a rather big guild, but being the one to organize bounties is a nightmare.

Even if we have about 60 online at all times, getting 30+ can be a challenge.

And with 30 trying to keep a track of 15 diffrent mobs, some of which gets killed others which despawn bythemselves is horrible.

I manage it barley by using multiple sheets of paper, but even then it easily takes as much as a hour to get ready for a 15 min mission ,which feels completly wrong!

Honestly bounties need to be dumbed down, I can’t even imagine doing them on a very high pop server, its enough of a pain on a normal high pop server.

Either it needs to be dumbed down considerably, or arena net needs to give us ALOT more useful ingame tools for these missions.

such as:

10 man groups rather then 5 man.
The ability to make lists etc ingame, like a notepad.
etcetcetc.

Also I love how they fixed scaleing on bosses that died to quick, and completly ignored Kamali which dies way to slow! Failed our t3 today because 10 people wernt enough to bring him down before he despawned.. despawned at 10%.. Honestly the 15 min timer alone is ENOUGH, why the kitten does there need to be a secondary timer on individual targets?

From the standpoint of someone who has the organize this bs for my guild, its not difficult, its just a boring, hassle that is completly unenjoyable to me and the other 15 people who have to hold a target for upward of a hour.

I used to be in the race for first kills in the early days of eq1, so I know what DIFFICULT content looks like, and this is not it.

So apperntly Guild Trek dosnt give Comms… seriously whats up with that?

This needs to be addressed, I’d really like to know if this is true.

Anet said you could eventually get 1 ascended earring a week through guild commendations.

If it’s only 2 per mission and trek doesn’t count, how can you get 12 per week?

And what kind of motivation do we have for even doing it, when it dosnt.. It dosnt even give a decent amount of merits… 10 merits for t3… sheesh.

His whole arguement is based around the stats of the item, while it should be obvious to everyone that the stats of this armor is irrelevant, you don’t pay for the stats, if you want those stats you can buy them elsewhere.

You buy it for the look, and the looks alone.

Should they work like backpacks? sure, But should they have to work like backpacks for people to comprehend what they are? hell no.

here a better comparrison for you frost: Just because the Can of Tuna has a nice label, dosnt mean the contents of the can should be kaviar.

Your comparrison seems to suggest you don’t get what you pay for, when infact you get exactly what you pay for, a nice looking can.

Kaotiktheory: Guildwars 2 has one of the fairest f2p models out there, I can’t belive you are seriously whining about this.. I don’t know if you realise, but Anet is not a charity organization.

Besides you do realise you can get normal AND fine transmutions without paying for them? or the fact that you can convert gold to gems at will.

Ill be the first to yell at anet if theyr doing something wrong/silly, but the only one being silly here is you lot.

20 rares a day, thats about 4g, and the 10+ kills alone easily add up to 1-2 hours, more waiting.

People highly overestimate just how profitable doing this is, It feels like it takes less time because your not doing the same thing over and over, but in the end you actually spend more time per g, then you could other places.

Exploiting? you realise you don’t get more chests per day from doing this right? you get to do your dragon kills in a timely fashion and thats about it.

Also theres no risk of it “crashing the economy” ectos have already stabilized at 28-30s based on time of day, which is a much more healthy price the previously.

And no, not every server is experienceing this, If you are on a very high pop server, yes you will run into it, but hell, then you’d run into it anyways, because, hey, you are on a high pop server.

Also what gives you the right to tell someone to stop guesting? you may play on the server, that dosnt mean you own the rights to it, people guesting got as much right to be there as you, so get of your pedestal.

On a diffrent note, I don’t bother guesting myself, however your opinions on the mather look rather silly to me.

I must however say, it is not everyday you see people whine about open world zones actually being populated, intresting turn of events indeed.

What really needs to be done is: Better servers, Less players allowed per zone etcetc

T3 Cultural armors - why so expensive?

Kilrain Daggerspine.6843

How is it overpriced? honestly would you even want the t3 armor, if everyone could get it after half a weeks work?

There is no reason why cultural armor should be any cheaper then it already is, it is 100% for looks, the prices does not increase, it does infact decrease rapidly based on the value of gold.

And yes, I do have 3 chars with t3 cultural armor, but guees what I earned it, I realise i payed more for mine then you will currently pay for it (due to less gold value), and I am fine with that, but whining that you want the price of it decreased further is a insult to everyone who earned theyr t3 set.

T3 Cultural armors - why so expensive?

Kilrain Daggerspine.6843

You find it strange that not all rare items sell for the same ? really?

If anything were to be changed it should be the fact that there are stats on them at all, so people would realise that these are for LOOKS, ONLY.

Like you said there are plenty of cheaper options out there with these stats, so why do you care if you are able to get this precise one cheaply? for the looks of course, well if you want it, you gotta earn it like everyone else who got it so far.

And before people try to draw a legendary comparrison.

The two are the exact opposite, the cultural armor gets easier to get on a daily basis, while legendarys get harder.

why? because the value of gold becomes less and less the more that is farmed, and the value of legendary components get more valueable the less valueable gold is. etcetc

And like I said before if the lag bothers you, you have 2 guesting slots.

Time is money, and if you miss the event you have to wait, which means you lose time and money.

There is already enough rng in the current spawning that you can’t just pop in 1 second before boss spawn deano

Not really kRiza, It only shows that not all players want the same thing, not that player don’t know what they want

However in this case it seems alot of the complaining is due to the amount of players doing these events, not about the rares themselves.. which quite honestly is not a good reason to revert the changes, it is however a good reason to improve server power, lower performance requirements etc, stuff that could be bloody useful in general.

Don’t nerf it, buff loot in other places to not suck, and maybe people will go elsewhere.

I used to like dungeons, until i realised the lucky get rich from it, while I end up wasting my time.

Ursan we’ve already seen what these events look like with low incentive, I’ve seen graves with more activity..

It is far better as it is now.. honestly it seems the main problem people are having with new system.

“Oh, But there are so many people it causes it to lag”
“Oh, But there as so many people that I got put into overflow”

Both of those issues will become smaller over time, and guesting work both ways, while people from low pop servers can join your very high pop server to get theyr dynamic events quicker, people on very high pop can just as easily join a low/med pop server if they prefer there are less people at the events.

Personally I am on a high pop server, and there is no lag what so ever, when I guest on very high pop servers, sure there is alot of lag but despite that it is far more enjoyable due to the amount of people participating!

Even with this decent rare chance, it is still far more profitable to simply farm something else

Tell me where else in the game where I can get a rare for 2 minutes of spamming 1?

There isn’t. Which is why you see these hordes of people descending on the World Events. It’s not their fault, it’s the system’s fault. Make loot this easy to achieve. Of course people will focus on these spots. Look at all the threads popping up complaining about lag and overflow issues. They are proof of the massive influx of players these Events have seen.

The biggest problem are Behemoth, Maw, and Fire Elemental. They are just waaay too easy. But even the Dragons, while taking a bit more time, is still pretty much braindead as it is. Events this easy shouldn’t have loot this good, or EVERYONE will do them, straining the system.

Even with Dragon timer website, you rarely end up only using 2 mins per encounter though, the thing that balances it out is the amount of time you end up waiting for it to start etc.

How ever I can agree that Maw and Behemoth’s loot should not be as good, they are extremly simplistic and fast encounters, fire element on the other hand is slightly harder, has a decent hp pool, aswell as a rather long pre-event.

As far as dragons and temples are concerned, you rarely see jormag go down in less then 15 mins, and the other usually take 10min + which means you could’ve done 2-3 cof p1 runs and gained 4-6 times as much just from the coin reward alone.

As for Lag and Overflow, Its THE new Buzz, of course everyone and theyr grandma is gonna show up, which causes lag, however the intrest will die down alot over the next few days, infact there are less people on the events every day already.

For one, I see absolutely no signs of exos being more common from these bosses, with the exception of final rest.

Yes we are seeing more exos linked now, but that is mainly because there are easily 10 times the amount of people doing them now, which is a good thing.

Even with this decent rare chance, it is still far more profitable to simply farm something else, however this is a welcome break for those of us who have had the worst rng luck imaginable up to this point.

And who can easily go trough 5 dungeons or fractals without seeing any sign of a rare.

Lets be perfectly honest here, the only content that isn’t faceroll is 30+ fractals, and those also give crap loot.

On a diffrent note, I would not mind if they limited chest to one per account per day, that is just overall fair to people who have focused on 1 char instead of 5.

Lag or no lag, I am enjoyable world events far more now, because people actually show up! and it will eventually calm down some, so the lag will go away anyways.

I have no problem with this dungeon myself, however do you really think a mechanicsm where you more or less have to die on a switch is a good one? in my mind it should always be possible to get past a mechanism without people dieing..

Personally I don’t care much, as I usually play a guardian and dieing in there just dosnt happen to me, but you can’t expect everyone to play a guardian.

If you complete both targets you’ll receive the merits from the mission, which can be used to unlock more mission types (and rewards from those missions).

I’m looking into why some of the bounties don’t appear to be scaling normally. They might just need more health in general, given that many of them live in low-level zones.

Don’t even start thinking about bounties that are to low hp, the main focus should be to get a UI that is somewhat useable, the current setup is tedious and down right destructive to the enjoyability of the content.

Not to mention the pain a event leader goes trough trying to organize enough people to keep track of 15 diffrent mobs in 15 diffrent zones, with 15 diffrent pathings!

And thats before even adding in the pain of having someone else kill the bounty your tracking.

Want to look into scaleing check out the Mount Maelstrom bounty, what the hell is up with that guys hp? he makes lupicuses hp pool look like a joke.

Or the confusion spamming bounty.

Or the karka guy which you can spend a hour looking for without any signs of his famous chat bubble.

Don’t you dare make it any harder until you fix all the issues that make it artificially harder.

I enjoy the concept of guild missions, but having to send out scouts to 15 diffrent locations to make the missions even somewhat reasonable, is extremly messy, and not enjoyable for the person who has to micro manage it.

I want to be guild missions to be difficult, but atm they are just a stressful and tedious experience.

Edit: Dante, Im fairly certain its not daily, you most likely just hit the weekly reset timer..

Though I most definatly!!!! hope you are right, I will find out tommorow

Your right, I wasn’t there.

That does not however mean that information on that period is not readily availible for me to study.

Including recordings etc.

1: item loot is not the main source of income when farming a dungeon, pure coin is when you repeatedly farm it.

2: Yes you didn’t get karma from dungeon until october, however you were getting more pure karma from running orr (even if it is boring) then you would have in dungeons.

Also mind you I am talking about the period release-oct/nov, not simply the first month of game release.

Again, I am by no means saying it was ever easy, It is definatly my firm belief based on the information that is availible (which is quite alot) that getting/starting legendary is getting harder everyday.

Infact its gotten considerably harder since I started aswell, not just since release.

On a diffrent note, I am perfectly fine with the karma/sp prices, infact I wouldnt mind if they were higher, problem are the components are a part of the economy.

think you are being overly dramatic..

For the first time in a long time people actually bother with dynamic events, that is a great thing.

and despite the fact that 1 rare is guaranteed it is very far from the most profitable option, it is simply a good DIVERSE option.

As for ecto prices dropping, ABOUT TIME! the ecto/rare prices went up WAY to much after the snowflake incident.

Goes hand in hand with precursor prices being ridicilous.

Unless ecto somehow bounces back precursor prices will finally drop some aswell, hopefully.

PS: I have done almost every chest event 2 time per day since patch went out, and I still havnt gotten a exo drop, so its definatly not overtuned.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but being very unlucky when it comes to loot in this game this has made the game alot more enjoyable for me.. before getting rares was almost impossible for me because my rng was horrible, and now I can actually to some extent keep up with the general population..

“First time people bother” – I don’t know about your server, but on mine the dragons were always killed as soon as they spawned. I can’t see why people would do dynamic events unless it has boss at the end? How does it help that people are farming the same 10 events, if the rest of the world is rotting?

I certainly agree, ecto was getting steep. But 10 silver down in 2 days.. It isn’t over yet, people has just begun farming. I don’t even have a guess at how low the ecto and rares will go.
Certainly agree with precursors as well, i have no idea how much that was changed though.

But seriously, if you look 2 weeks ahead.. How do you think the economy is looking?

But I have a question for you; Would you prefer this way of ensuring not getting rolled by RNG, or would you prefer playing content like dungeons, fractals, (long) dynamic events (not the boss ones) for the good drops? And again, please think a few weeks ahead, when you have killed maw 3 times a day for two weeks.

1: Yes people were killing dragons on my servers, but with 10-20 people showing up on a very high pop server, it said alot about the worth of doing them.
Dragons should be high value targets, and now we finally got 100-200 people rushing finally its something people want to do again.

2: As for your question, I have been playing for 4 months, for me there is one constant, I get crap loot in dungeons, fractals and previously dynamic events.. while I’ve had to sit on the sidelines and watch other people linking rares like they were kittening candy.
I still have to sit on the sidelines and watch people link exo’s from dynamic events, without getting a single one ever myself, despite doing pretty much all the events twice per day since patch.. However it sucks that much less now that I atleast get something for my effort.

3: while it has dropped 10s in 2 days, it has dropped slowly over those 2 days, and yes it will definatly stop at some point, as there is also a very high demand for them still.

And honestly I don’t get why people are under the impression that economy will suffer is ectos keep dropping.

It could drop to 10s and the economy would still be perfectly healthy, infact it would prob be more healthy, and alot more starter friendly then what it currently is.

EDIT: Treeline I see you claiming that the end chest at Jade Maw always dropping rares, that is bullkitten.. I know that from experience, as I suffer from exactly the kinda of bad rng as namu is..

The Pile of Vile Essence drops almost all the time, but yeah its not always, and thats a 5s crafting component, hardly the reward you expect after a hours work.

I’ve gone as much as 5 runs myself without seeing a rare myself (20-30). and those times where I do get rares I RARELY get more then 1.

And Exos, well.. gotten mabye 4 total since i started fractals.. all acc bound.

Sorry, but that simply isnt true smooth, it was completly possible to farm gold as quickly back then trough repeated dungeon runs, infact it was faster to farm gold back then due to no DR, while each unbound component was only a tiny fraction of the price.

Hell, even karma was more easily obtained..

And don’t misunderstand, I am not saying it was EASY back then either, im just saying it will never become as easy again as it was.

Mainly because most of the parts to the legendary are a part of the economy.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but being very unlucky when it comes to loot in this game this has made the game alot more enjoyable for me.. before getting rares was almost impossible for me because my rng was horrible, and now I can actually to some extent keep up with the general population..

Personally yes i think the laurel price for these items are obsolutely disgusting.

at this rate by the time we get to armor they will cost 50 laurels a piece, thats a year just to gear one char.

While im gonna try to avoid sharing my opinion on this mather, I find it absolutely hillarious that people worry that legendaries will become to easy to obtain..

Simple fact is legendaries will never again be as easy to obtain as pre-december, and you can bet your sweet kitten that is when most of the people you see running around with them today got a majority of theyr components.

I guees the logic is that newer players should work 10+ times harder to earn theyr legendaries?

Colin's Contradictions

Sorry, but your first and second sentence already contradict each other.

So if more time is needed to get something, it doesn’t count as an alternate source? Also, the recent patch added all forms of available ascended stuff except for backpieces which is attainable via Mystic Forge and Fractals.

From the Reddit AMA, they acknowledged that the availability of Ascended gear was too limited.

Explain to me how the Laurels vendor is enhancing the availability.

You need 30 laurels for an Amulet. 35 for each ring. 40 (plus 50 ecto) for each Accessory.

Right there, that’s 30+70+80=180. You need to get 180 laurels to equip one character with all the current Ascended gear. And that’s not even counting infusions.

This wouldn’t be an issue, except that you can only get ONE laurel per day. (With the bonus of 10 per month.) This equates to around 5 MONTHS of continuous playtime to gear-up ONE character.

If you don’t see an issue with this “availability” then I don’t know what to say.

While you’re correct, they have already stated that your achievements will be converted into laurels. So honestly I won’t worry about it too much.

They said at first only new achivements will give laurels.. and those new achivements are no where in sight yet.. old once giving laurels could be as much as a half a year away tbh..

Yep noticed changes to heavy armor my self… last patch they rubberized my charrs t3 heavy shoulders, and now my asuras t3 heavy helmet… Arena net sure loves rubber-.-

My charrs shoulders are still rubberized, and it causes some really weird graphical glitches, have been reported several times and not fixed.. wouldnt cross my fingers for this getting fixed either :/

Guild Missions [merged]

Any Qq’ers you don’t agree with is the “vocal minority”, been this way since the birth of mmo’s tbh.

Amusing that saying someone is the vocal minority still works as well for rallying a crowd against them though.

By this logic we could also say that the participants in a poll for say an election are the vocal minority.

Dosn’t change the fact however that this vocal minority can give you a pretty accurate read on the “silent majority”.

On a diffrent note, Personally I strongly dislike the way guild missions were added, Its even more gated content, gated content that richer guilds can pay theyr way trough.. rather bad design in my opinion.

I would have been “ok” with it if it was not possible to rush past the timer by paying with influence, however it is..

Even so i would consider the laurel prices for new items a really bad joke..

don’t worry though pink backpack will drop in price quickly.

Sure you can compare those aswell, and the stat diffrence will be very noticeable.

for some reason people tend to just look at the stats seperatly, “oh ascended only gives me x more power” rather then looking at the combined amount of stats, which should make it obvious to most that the stat diffrence is anything but small.
