Revenant Weapon speculation

I know Sword is confirmed as a main hand weapon. We also know that the Staff is another weapon, but I don’t know where people get the off hand Dagger? I mean from this concept art (I know its just concept, but here me out), I can see that the Revenant can also wield an Off hand Sword. In other words Dual wield swords.

Almost no one I’ve discussed this profession managed to see this. I just wanted to point it out, and to figure out where the dagger came from.

Some speculate that the prof. might use an Off Hand Pistol, like Rytlock normally does, and Short Bow. Make sense? Is it awesome? You guys decide.

Kinda wanted to suggest that to any of those who run the wiki and edit it.

That might just be a off hand shield that the Anet art team decided to make look like a sword.

Problem with Lack of Communication

After the recent Trait change situation

The community here showed mass displeasure regarding the change.

The fact that Anet didn’t even share their plans with the community before adding such badly designed change to the trait system, also shows how bad the communication is.

But the fact that a massive thread had to be made yet we didn’t get any response to the thread until months later when Anet revealed the Expansion.

So that’s months of waiting for communication from the developers regarding a major design issue. And Anet had no intention of changing those bad designs between the backlash and its new expansion that comes out in who knows when.

But some reason Anet expects the comsumer base to put trust in them once again with their new expansion, when we don’t know if more future situations like this will happen from them.

I believe Anet need to change their communication policy. At least let us know that you will address our concerns when the community show mass displeasure in design changes.

Priest- Guardian Specialization idea

Weapon to be added- Long Bow

Priest deals with long range damage and support.

Priest have new mechanic to replace virtues with Angel System.

The Priest can transform into different Angels to battle enemies or cast support skills.

Priest has 3 Angelic Forms, built to mimic Gods of ancient past.

Angel Form 1= Melee Damage oriented form
Angel Form 2= Ranged Damage oriented form
Angel form 3= Support/defensive form

Priest keeps Guardians:
*Spirit Weapon skills
*Shield – new skills
*Mace – new skills
*Sword – new skills
*Staff – new skills
*Scepter – new skills
*Focus -new skills

Why Anet left off First Person view?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Because they were worried that people would get stuck in 1st person and forget how to change back to 3rd person view thus handicapping yourself and teammates. It was said in an interview at gamescon 2014.

wtf, that was really said?

I am curious of how inexperienced does Anet assume the GW2 consumers are to MMO gaming.

I cant help but notice now, after the NPE, and this statement. its crazy! Anet assumes the GW2 player base has never touched a MMO game before.

Flying endurance is not fun.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Knighthonor.4061

Knighthonor.4061

When GW2 was designed Anet wisely decided to throw away an old MMO trope. Anet got rid of breathing endurance while swimming underwater. Why? Because breathing endurance makes underwater content not fun. Yet I fear Anet is about to institute a different equally poor MMO trope: Flying endurance.

I cheered when gliding was introduced. I groaned when I read about the attached endurance meter. Flying endurance is not fun. It never has been.

Flying is suppose to be fun. The sights to behold, the exhilaration of movement in aerial content can be amazing. But, flying endurance turns this into a dreaded time limit. Players will be watching the endurance meters not the beauty of the zone. Floating on air can be a breathtaking experience but this is destroyed when an outdated gaming mechanic plummets you to your doom for daring to enjoy the gaming content a bit too long. This is similar to underwater areas in many other MMOs and I fear most players will quickly learn to avoid such content. Flying endurance is simply not fun.

There are other ways of gating gliding content. Such as lowering the forward speed of novice gliders. This still causes novices to miss far away landing spots but doesn’t cause them to fall to their deaths for overreaching. Additionally, if the endurance amount is so large as to not bother ‘most people’, then why is it even there? Flying endurance is not needed.

Flying endurance is not fun.

P.S. I understand gliding is not flying. Flying Endurance is the trope I am opposed to. Thus, I am using that terminology.

I dont have any info on this, going off what the OP stated.

But a endurance system for flying makes the player discover better take off spots to reach cool and clever hidden locations. it becomes a mini game of sorts trying to find the best location to leap from to get to that secret ledge over there.

I been doing the Metaevent train to level, and notice its much slower now. took 10+ meta events to level up, and EoTM/WvW is low population.

Bad decision. If you want that feeling, feel free to delete some gold you have every time you switch Specializations . Just saying. You have that option.

People getting caught up on the literal meaning of names of features.

Anet said it the self, this is their spin on Dual classes. Nothing about upgrading. This is the reason why we can switch between them. Because it’s their innovative spin on dual classes. And like dual classes in GW1, it was optional to use it or not.

My thoughts are you are thinking too much into this. Both the GW2 and GW1 rangers go pretty much borderline druids with some of their skills.

But that’s just one specialization for the Ranger. In future expansions and content additions more will be added.

And Anet did talk about the specialization system in reference to dual classes at PAX did they not?

So I wouldn’t say I am thinking too deeply into it.i am speculating off of what Anet said.

Knighthonor.4061

When Anet introduced the Specialization system, it was in the same breath of Dual Class system of GW1.

Could this be a hint of sorts of the design direction of Future Specializations for classes, to be themed after a hybrid between two parent classes into one?

Seems likely to me.

What if Druid specialization for example is themed after Ranger+Elementalist

Or Hammer Engineer is themed after Engineer+Warrior

That could hint at in the future at least 8 Specializations to come per class in the future

What’s your thoughts?

Thief + Rifle = Sniper

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Knighthonor.4061

Knighthonor.4061

you want a sniper? roll a rifle warrior.

killshot is exactly that, except without stealth to make it OP.

i just don’t get why people want a sniper so much. thief is already stacked to hell and back with burst weapons. in fact, there is exactly one option for thief that doesn’t involve berserker gear, and it’s a condi bunker that only works well in WvW roaming.

if we do get a rifle (sigh), then i hope it fills a niche we don’t have. P/D is ranged condi, P/P is ranged DPS and it has CC as well, and shortbow is one of the best utility weapons in the game, regardless of profession.

Warriors are marksmen. Marksmen use weapons designed for close range combat up to around 300 meters and provide cover fire.

Snipers use high powered rifles that are meant to kill targets at up to a kilometer. They also have to determine the best vantage point and secondary points to move to if they are detected. With thief being sneaky, it would make sense for thief to have a Sniper specialisation.

And if thieves are going to have rifles, it will most likely be long range and powerful simply because it’ll feel like a warrior copy which will go against the design philosophy between the professions. But people want it because they expect that it would feel like playing as a real sniper, not a rifle warrior.

Well they did talk about Specializations in the same breath of dual classes. So makes sense for e thief rifle specialization to be similar to Warrior, or a Thief/Warrior dual profession of sorts. Hey this give me an idea for a thread!!!

What’s some tips on mastering when to use shatter
And how to master the use of mantras?

Right now I rarely use shatters because it seem the illusions make for better defense while leveling.

Also I notice that sometimes clones will run to my target to blow up, but other times they will simply blow up at whatever location they are at. So I don’t know how to predict which outcome.

As for mantras, I tried to make a mantras support build in WvW, but I found it hard to make usefulness of it because the support mantras require close range to allies to radiate to them. And the damage mantra doesn’t do good enough in combat. How to make this work and master it?
I am not a full level Mesmer so I don’t have access to grand master nor master traits so that could be to blame.

But I would like to know what to do to master these mechanics when I do reach level 60 and 80, since I am getting close to 60 right now.

Will NPE be tweaked/reworked in HoT?

The rewards per level were a very nice addition I thought. They added some meaning to levelling which never existed first time round.

I understand your concerns over the “on rails” comment though.

Rewards per level where nice, but why remove the biggest rewards per level than? Aka Skill points and Traits…

Those are the biggest rewards for any character because they not bound by level. Gear rewards get out leveled. Traits and skill points don’t, since they stay with your character through it all.

Now we have to wait all the way to max level just to play how we wanted.

I leveled my Warrior to play a shout healer back pre NPE. I eventually spread to other builds. But I never would have been motivated to do all that grinding of levels had I not been able to play how I wanted before reaching the max level.
The new trait system is horrible now because of this.

Skill points are still unlocked though? At least they did on my new toon?

Come on, flux this forum!!!!

On topic:
Skill points come in level bundles now. Have to grind levels to gain them. Grind is not fun. I like earning skill points each level like before.

Knighthonor.4061

Ive heard from other players that supposedly, NPE is being re-done, so we don’t need to hunt down our traits any more, but I can’t find it written down anywhere.

Is this true?

I haven’t done it myself, because all my characters pre-date the update except for one, but im dreading having the level that character up, along with the Revenant, after hearing all these horror stories about NPE, and looking at some of the tasks and price tags on traits, it seems a bit over-the-top, so I wouldn’t mind it being revamped.

A lot of the horror stories are over dramatised by a considerable way. It has bad points of course, but they also put in some good things as well. I’m not saying it doesn’t have issues, but it’s certainly nothing to be too worried over.

As for traits, yes that is being re-done. I liked the idea it tried to implement and would have had no qualms if the game launched with this system, but as it is, its just a step backwards from a system which essentially worked just fine as it was.

The only good thing about the NGE,,, oops I mean NPE is that we can retrait on the fly, and they have a new pop up that teaches new players info.

That’s about it. Everything else was bad.

The way we gain trait points is bad. The fact that traits are locked away behind level gate is stupid!

Also the lack of stats again is stupid.

The change to the weapon skill unlocking is stupid and actually makes it harder on new players if anything.

The game feels more on rails than it originally did… Which is something many of us wanted to move away from a bit.

It’s probably just an NPC unique weapon at most; like nightmare court using whips, Mai Trin using a rapier, or Horric using a cannon.

I don’t think they would re-purpose staves for melee use when they have a slew of spear skins that could easily be re-purposed for land and make more sense for this type of combat instead.

Have a look through your wardrobe in game at the staves in the game. Some of them look like they might be decent at being used as a melee weapon, but some would be ridiculous. Look through the spear skins in the game; nearly all of them would fit these animations perfectly; except for the legendary spear oddly enough… no place to really grip that thing…

the problem with that is, we’re only going to get 1 specialization at first, so the most likely one, if they were to go that path, would be arcanist

Depends on which one the dart landed on, I guess? I have no idea what reasoning was behind choosing Druid for Rangers, as it doesn’t seem to target the most or least popular mechanics of that class, so I can’t imagine which specialization they’ll go for first for the Elementalist. If they’re avoiding the most commonly used feature it’ll rule out Pyro and Aeromancers, at least.

Druids fit the jungle nature theme of the expansion and people been wanting Staff rangers for a while now.
