Hey so how about plant transformations? Humans can already do it with racial.
I believe your title meant, “going into the future”
Get it?
Lol
Taunt is a CC, not an aggro mechanic. Re-read it.
The way its implemented is specifically to bust up the murderball formations that trivialize most of the pve content, and give melee specs additional and interesting cc that synergizes with rather than conflicts with their weapon sets.
For example: if you’re running a melee warrior, and you want some interrupt on your utility bar. Well, you could use fear me, but it’s a giant pain in the kitten , as you’re forced to use a mobility skill just to catch back up with the guy you just interrupted. On the flip side, if you’re running a ranged build, fear me has much better synergy as you’re trying to maintain distance. The addition of taunt (AKA Bizarro-fear), allows more build options and better skill synergy.
On top of that, mobs are going to use it on you, and I’d imagine that’s going to be pretty heavily abused by encounter and monster designs to break up the ‘all DPS IN A CORNER’ boring as heck strategy that pervades most of PvE, and moves general PvE in a more fun direction with real interrupts, timed cc saves, and other such fun stuff.
Aggro mechanics are a form of CC. So it’s not wrong to label Taunts a form of Aggro control.
Tanks in all trinity games do the job of CONTROLLING mobs.
I think you people are really overestimating this. Creatures can also use it against players, all it is, is a new CC. And thus would be ignored by stability and defiance.
“you people” !?!
The people wanting tanks.
But Anet used that term Tanks.

I have a concern when it comes to Taunts.
How will they sync with Temporary Transformations.
Locked to auto attack, could pretty much destroy transformation skills that are temporary and not charge based like Ele’s weapons.
Skills like Rampage and Tombs would be ruined which are major elites for some builds.

There will be more than 2 legends afaik, meaning that there will be enough customization.
In one of the screens you see an elite of mallyx with king jalis’ utilies. I think you can use what you want, not sure.
EDIT Nevermind, it’s a screenshot of switching the stance.
Confused panda. :-(
Look at the arrows above the utility, heal, and elite skills. It has the change skill arrow like other classes do. So it’s safe to assume they also can change utilities like other classes, just that all right side skills function as gypths from eles
Lets talk about the new boon: Resistance
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Knighthonor.4061
Resistance (Boon)
“Conditions currently on you have no effect; stacks duration.”
Currently, we have skills that provide a similar effect, such as the warrior’s Berserker Stance (condition immunity with no counterplay). When placed on a character, this boon will temporarily relieve them of all the negative effects that conditions have on the character. For example, if a character is running in fear with the fear condition, they’ll stop running in fear when resistance is placed on them. When resistance ends, they’ll resume running in fear. Having this type of effect on a boon makes it so the boon can be removed by other players, adding in more counterplay.
Wait this part stands out
Having this type of effect on a boon makes it so the boon can be removed by other players, adding in more counterplay.
What does Resistance have to do with boon removal?
Sorry, but Taunt != Aggro mechanics. The best description is that this is reverse fear. Instead of forcing a mob/player to run from you, it forces them to come at you. As an emphasis, it has full functionality on Players. No taunt in any trinity game has had that. Taunt in a trinity game is either worthless against players or maybe incurs some kind of debuff on them. In this case it disables players skills and forces them to come at the taunter. The big aspect, though, is that Mobs will have access to this effect. No other game has given mobs the ability to taunt back.
This is not a trinity mechanic, it’s a cool CC.
Actually Cleric’s taunt in Rift, which is a trinity game, can do that.
Really? Taunt? What’s with you dev’s? Its not WoW, not L2, its game with unique experience, where we don’t need tank/healer/damage dealer trinity.
Like I said before.
WoW hatred is unhealthy for MMO communities.
Example here. OP saw the word Taunt, and automatically went into Anti-WoW mode and forgot to actually read the description.
Guardians with Bow. It’s seen twice so far in HoT trailers.
I am confused about how to best use VoJ.
The passive applies a burn,
But the active also applies a burn, but it’s an AoE buff to allies, so allies also apply Burn.
And since burns don’t stack,
Wouldn’t my burn get overwritten by another member nearby with better condition damage?
There are traits to add blinds to the active, but is that the only way to play it?
Do you want Melee Staff on Specialization?
Thats if, the Specializations can use more than just their unique weapon,
and if the other weapons they get access to also get unique weapon skills.
Also, one thing I can tell you: the first necro I see holding Twilight and calling themselves Edward, I will make it my personal mission to make their life in the game as miserable as possible.
Stop giving people bad ideas fool
What’s your thoughts on the possibility of the Chronomancer not using illusions?
If so, what would you like in its place?
Slick Shoes – Nerf the duration of the oil on the ground to 1s. This will make the skill do what it was originally intended to do.
Super Speed – Nerf this cooldown back to 45 seconds again.
Gear Shield – Nerf the cooldown to 30s.
Incendiary Powder – Nerf it.
Invigorating Speed – Nerf the cooldown to 10s.
Kk thnx then engi = balanced.
bye
I DEMAND YOUR SILENCE!!!!
Guys you have to actually read the post the guy made before making claims about the stances aha
clearly the 5th skill on longbow is the way you switch between stances, its obvious that you’ll only be able to switch between stances while in longbow and it will only have an effect on the skills available to you in longbow
Here are the skills they have listed:
1. Puncture Shot (DPS Stance) – Fire an arrow which pierces enemies, damaging them and causing vulnerability.
1. Puncture Shot (Support Stance) – Fire an arrow which pierces enemies. When the arrow passes through an ally it will heal them for a small amount.
2. Light Arrow (DPS Stance) – Charge up energy, creating a powerful attack which pierces through enemies.
2. Light Arrow (Support Stance) – Charge up energy coating your arrow with light, causing it to heal allies which it passes through.
3. Symbol of Battle (DPS Stance) – Fire a slow arcing arrow which explodes on impact, burning targets and searing a symbol of battle into the ground.
3. Symbol of Battle (Support Stance) – Fire a slow arcing arrow which explodes on impact, healing allies and searing a symbol of energy into the ground.
4. Protector’s Chain (DPS Stance) – Fire an arrow attached with a chain of light. The chain will attach itself to the target, pulling in and crippling other nearby enemies.
4. Protector’s Chain (Support Stance) – Fire an arrow attached with a chain of light. The chain will attach itself to the target, knocking back and crippling other nearby enemies.
5. Zealot’s Retribution Stance – Zealot’s Retribution Stance changes your weapon skills to damage and debuff enemies.
5. Protector’s Light Stance – Your longbow skills focus on supporting and aiding allies.
I like what Caeledh said, and I had some similar feelings while reading this thread. Personally, I wouldn’t want to see shape shifting as it was done in WoW.
And it is worth considering, as SorionHex mentioned, that animal shape shifting is a big part of being a Norn.
Now that I’ve thought about it more these last few days, I’d actually prefer to see shape shifting exist not as something akin to Norn Lore, but rather something that’s in alignment with Tyrian Druid Lore: maybe Druids, or a future Ranger spec., could have a new class mechanic that allows them to transform into an Oak Heart (treant) in a fashion similar to Deathshroud. I could see that being quite a magical experience
Using that same logic, that would be similar to what all humans can do since that’s a racial ability for humans…
Anybody notice that the Mesmer Specialization is using a Sword as Main hand?
http://youtu.be/IOUk2y0K2m8?t=1m28sCould it possible that all Specializations can use more than just their specialization weapon?
You were thinking a specialized necromancer could only equip greatsword/greatsword?

The whole idea of GW2 is that the game begins at level 80.
that’s literally the opposite of what GW2 is about. other MMOs “begin” at max level, and GW2 went firmly against that notion, which kittened off a lot of early players that rushed through content and found out there’s nothing exclusive to lv80s to do.
The entire point of the epxnaison is to give content for people AFTER level 80. That’s what they have been saying in all the interviews. The point of the expansion is to give players the chance to progress their character even after reaching the level cap. So what Argon is saying is totally accurate.
Yes Argon is accurate but still shows that Anet was dishonest in that area. They said that Endgame starts at level 1, during the pre-release period.
But hey things change I guess.
Why would the Druid transform into animals ? Druids in GW are more about plants and nature spirits.
It might be possible but Druid doesnt always mean transformation. Don’t take WoW as a standard for everything.I disagree. Druids are based on Real Life Druid culture, and Druid culture deals with both Animals and Spirits of nature…
<<<HUGE mythology nerd
Real life Druidism (at least so far as we get the word ‘druid’ from) was Celtic, and it worshipped life and death more than plants, animals, or the natural world. In fact most of our fantasy pop-culture tropes tied to necromancy, like wearing cow skulls and bone necklaces, eerie green smoke and blue fire, witches cauldrons, even ‘blood stones’ and the raising of the dead, originate from druidism. While Necromancy was actually just another word for a seance of the dead. Druids as worshipers of nature is the result of modern cultural revivalist movements.
Druids wearing the skin and bones of animals is symbolized in Video Games as animal transformations because real life Druids wear those to take the spiritual form of the animal spirits.
Yeah if Bleep hit the fan, I am bouncing!!!
New Guardian Bow Specialization
http://en.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2vu3po/speculation_guardians_get_some_sort_of_bow/col6ysd
Say hello to our new Specialization which we dont have a name for yet.
But in the above link we see the Guardian with a Bow.
What sort of skills, traits, and mechanics you would like in a new bow fighter guardian?
So now we should start discussion what kind of skills will we get. I think it’s going to be longbow with many condition options or very support boon weapon. I think it’s not going to be pure dps/very fast assassin-like weapon, it just doesnt fit guardian well for me.
Or maybe devs will surprise us this time and so they will give us something completely unpredictable.
Good point. I will do that
…only if that Druid is also Norn. Transforming into animal spirits is kind of their thing.
Exactly my thought.
Anet said Racials mimic class skills but are weaker. So what class skills do Norn Racials mimic?
Is it me or is Anet deleting the links and post to the reddit video of the guardian with bow?
Was that put in by accident?

Warrior + Scepter == VOID KNIGHT
Anti-Magical fighter the Void Knight, gain energy from the use of magic around him to devastate those that wield magic for the wrong reasons.
Void Knight’s Weapon List:
*Scepter -Specialization Weapon
*Shield – Parent weapon
*Off Hand Mace – Parent weapon
*Off Hand Axe – Parent weapon
*Off Hand Sword – Parent Weapon
The Void Knight Mechanics:
Void Knights generate Magical Energy, by draining enemies. Void Knights have a debuff called “Void Might” that applies to enemies and stacks in effect. Void Mights can be consumed for powerful attacks and enhances other skills as well.

If this is true…. I am going Guardian/Engineer as my two Mains in HoT..
Simple as that!!!
I love 2hander Melee in GW2, and I love playing Support. and well these two leaks have a lot of this in good ways.
Sorry Great Sword Necro and Revenant, but these two took your place on the hype list!
Where do I sign up?

Warrior NPC with Pistol in main hand and shield in off hand called Warmaster
i dont understand. why Anet make people type that in for this to be activated?
You know that skill that is supposed to reflect fireballs? I was killed while that was still up. The kick always misses. About 75% of my attacks miss, regardless of how close an opponent is. I can’t target enemies that are right in front of me and are usually the sole person in front of me.
Basically, I don’t see how any amount of skill is going to counter mechanics that flat out don’t work.
This.
I notice I get defeated while running away from attackers, but if I do the same, my attacks miss and get obstructed message on my screen even if they right in front of me in site.
Also notice I get hit by attacks that don’t even touch me on the screen.
And auto target is poor I this mode.
Lol, this game has some of the best axe design I’ve ever seen.
As well as hammers.
well I have to disagree with that. care to back it up and post some of the best fantasy axes you seen ?
What do I need to back up? This is my personal preference, not a fact based upon a study of 5000 individuals.
I want to know what skins you say are the best ever seen. That’s all I am asking.
This is what I want honestly.
But what forms we get? That’s the question.
As a Druid I wanted to play a support/control/ defensive role compared to rangers.
I want to take the form of some kitten looking nature monster and heal allies and CC enemies while tanking a hit. Don’t care about DPS. I just want to be important to my group and a threat to enemies while not simply dpsing.
For animal forms I want a Bear Melee form,
A Naga damage form
A GRIFFIN form YESSSS
proof that the NPE really doesnt help anybody, it only slows how people learn to play the game. smh
lol nice try. No matter what he’d have learned the same thing the way he did it.
there is no nice try.
The OP while playing the NPE never learned anything of value from the new system.it only slows how people learn to play the game.
Pre NPE players had access to all skills and traits, so they could create a build that they learned to play with from early levels all the way to max level.
Now with the NPE players slowly build up their character and in the process learn each new element slowly and never really learn how to sync all of them together for a single build.
NPE=Failure.
Traits was not part of the NPE. Lack of traits is not part of any failure or success of the NPE. Traits was done in April 2014’s feature patch. NPE was done in September 2014’s feature patch.
If you’re going to gripe about something, at least get the facts straight so ANet takes your post seriously. Otherwise they may just brush you off as someone who doesn’t know what they are talking about.
no I doubt that since even Anet admitted the NPE was a failure and scrapping this system in HoT.
And Traits were also apart of the NPE. the NPE wasnt just a one patch move. it was a move planned for a while to get the asian population popping in GW2 and that failed as well.

Add some more feedback please
I agree with the OP in some way. the starter skins and most of the crafting skins are not very exciting when I first started playing, compared to the vast armors a low level character in vanilla WoW could get.
We dont know if the Chronomancer uses Cloans like Mesmer yet….
How is Debuff count handled in other MMO?
Since its a major issue here in GW2, I am curious about how other MMOs solved this similar issue.
Warriors get Torch or Pistol off hand
Guardians get Long Bow and named Priest like in anime
Thief gets Rifle or Warhorn named commando or Bard
Elementalist gets Sword or Mace new Shaman or Wizard
Still no news on build saving features…..
Come on. This been asked for, for about 2 years now
I am assuming that the Specilizations also give new weapon skills for some other weapons as well. So a Druid might be able to wield a bow, but not a axe for example.
