IMO the biggest issue I have with GW2’s PvE besides the lack of Raid dungeons and lack of Trinity

GW2 was an odd choice of a game to play if your biggest issues are lack of raid dungeons and trinity. Both of those things were selling points…

on paper it sounded good, but in reality its not a good idea. Many people can back me up there, in that they also thought that sounded like the best idea ever until we got our hands on the game for long term, and realized the limited group content for large scale players coordination is lacking, as well as how zergy the game feels when there isnt a trinity in place where players play a role for the group, each depending on the other in some way.

Is the small pool of class skills and traits.

I am so bored playing with the same small number of skills. You added 1 new heal. But its a heal. Used few times during combat if at all.

The trait system is very dull as well. Its been exposed more now with the new trait system change from a while ago. You are now only expanding on the Grandmaster traits, which in this system is already the best traits per line.
So why not add more Master and Adept traits that are useful? Because many of them already were filled up with useless traits already. And the options get smaller when you factor in playstyles. How about greatly expanding on your trait system as well. Add new lines as well if you have to. With new roles in those traits. Could be a weapon trait line, for making a certain weapon play a different way or something.

I am in EoTM now. I know its a bag/badge train,

But I cant help but wonder, what would have made this mode better and more fun?

What about the Map Design, limits its gameplay from being more like the other WvW modes?

When I first heard about EoTM being cross server, I was simply expecting a new more balanced (population wise) version of Eternal Battlegrounds, but EoTM is nothing like it in terms of gameplay nor fun factor. It has its own enjoyment element which is Bag Train of course (just to note that Bag train is fun in its own rewarding way), but I like the large scale PvP of WvW, and really I simply wanted a fix to the Server Population of the current Server vs Server model of the WvW mode.

EoTM fixed that problem by making it cross server factions, but it added its own list of issues.

I wouldnt want to take away the Bag/Badge train from anybody. Because like I said before. Thats fun in its own rewarding way, when it comes to getting random loot with a chance at something big in that loot bag.

But I would totally love a new EoTM map/mode that still does the cross server design for factions, but with a more Eternal Battleground feel to it, in which players want to defend and attack locations.

But this is my opinion. What are yours?

Hey i have an idea.

Since its taking so long to get new class skills from Anet alone,

how about we the community fund the projects to add new class skills to use.

That way Anet can use the kickstarter project money to hire people to make and test the new skills

without taking away resources from the main team at Anet that is focusing on Living Story content.

If successful

I would also like to see a similar kickstarter for WvW content

that Anet can use to get content made for WvW

without taking away from the main developers at Anet who are making Living Story content.

So you just spent 15 minutes to build the trebuchet which could not.

The elevation, invisible walls, line of sight, arc of fire, blast radius all affect which siege abilities can hit which targets. One should also consider any counter measures when placing siege.

Instead of asking for a map, you should ask a more seasoned WvW player to show you good siege positions. In many cases it is a matter of a yard from edge of a cliff between good and bad siege placement.

Thats what I mean. Are there any Googlemaps for WVW with good siege locations detailed out by vet WvWers anywhere that I can look over?

I had a few “WP while somebody is rezing them” people in WvW. one of them was a Commander who I was trying to rez but had rezzed him after another defeated person next to them. (didnt notice they were the commander at first)

It heals a set amount based on each hit, or tick of condition on you. It doesn’t heal based on how much dmg you take as its a set amount

So whats the best way to use it?

At first I thought I understood it, but apparently I dont.

Can somebody explain it better to me.

I thought it negated damage and healed you that damage instead, but I notice it doesnt do any healing at all, if their are too many sources of damage income.

Whats going on?

I am on a borderland in WVW atm, with no allies on the map. The map is totally controlled by the same faction. So I have no help. I am trying to find something to do here.

So taking the advice I got last time, I decided to try to take camps. But how do I do this solo?

I am on my warrior.

Yes with the new LS 2 things are better but with Anet’s big silence treatment with no expansion pack in sight and still unwilling to give us the time of day, I’m now down to dailies and monthlies and 1 day of LS per 2 weeks. At this rate even the added content will take a full 4 months to give us 1 map, proof look at Dry Top after 1 month of content it’s 25% the size of Brisband Wildland.

It takes 2 months for 1 map to be created and ready based on 5 years of production for 25 zones and 5 cities which is what GW 2 started with and don’t forget Anet had 170 employees when it started the game by the time they finished it they were about 330 and now 370.

The company is getting bigger yearly and still producing at a freak’in turtle pace. I started on day one of GW 1. Anet’s the company that gave me faith in MMO’s and also the one who’s making me loose faith in MMO’s.

So I guess It’s dailies until the 29th and then I’ll see you back in Dry Top for a full day of excitement in 12% of added zone content. Anet you’re becoming a big let down.

What does the thumbs up thing do on the forum?

I think this is too much to ask for. Even GW1 with its plethora of skills had redundant or simply copied ones (especially Factions with renamed Prophecies skills . . .).

Your created Elites don’t look like they work well with anything, or just seem a tad overpowered when looked at as “now let’s use this in WvW for instance” . . . especially “March With Me”. It’s either too awesome (charge instantly to the top of a wall, immediately drop three people on an antipersonnel siege weapon instead of needing to fight to it, chain it with two other warriors to pretty much never allow anyone to escape…) or if those are prevented, it’s not that useful.

Not to mention “Everything is a Weapon” summoning environmental weapons . . . is problematic. First off, it steps slightly on the toes of a ranger who bothers to use Forage. Secondly, it majorly steps on a thief who actively steals since it means a warrior can do it too, even if only random.

I don’t think your ideas of new skills are all that good to add to the game, for the sake of the game.

March With Me- like other distant closers dont travel up walls.

Forage is a Pet ability. That alone, makes it different. Everything is a Weapon is in no way like Thief’s steal in the sense, that its an environmental weapon. Steal isnt.

Off topic: no offense, bad example, you play warrior and you need more skills?

that was one class randomly I picked.
I play many classes and want new skills on all of them. I was just showing how I can come up with 15+ new skill ideas on my own, so I am sure a team of developers can come up with much more for the other classes that arent watered down and useless.

They can’t balance so many skills and lag will be bigger from more skills, you know “engine limitation”.
If ever they’ll make new skills those will be clones of existing ones or useless skills.
New weapons? I don’t think so, 2 years and no information about a real update.

Thats not how engine work. Its not a bigger load. Its the same.
And Balance is something that will never be and never was 100%. So why should that be something that hold future skills back from being added?

So about 2 that are usable then? Vomiting skills at players is not going to fix a thing its just going to add in a lot of pointless skills or worst yet skill that simply out do old skills. Time is what good skill fixes and new skills needs and time is something that is on GW2 side. I am not sure if there needs to even be a feeling of needed rush.

So i am saying work with old skills > new skills all the time.

I diagree. I seen many of new MMos and old with cool ability ideas that havnt been done in GW2 yet as a class skill. So I am sure we can have 30 more unique class skills that are useful and not useless like in GW1. Most of the GW1 skills were made useless because of the setbacks that many of the skills in GW1 had. GW2 doesnt need to do that, as proven by other MMOs.

How about you show us an example of 2 new weapon sets (10 skills), 6 utilities, and 2 elites for any class that isn’t redundant? It could help us understand why you think 30 isn’t too much.

Okay I will use Warrior as an example.

Spawn a random environmental weapon at your location for you and allies.

March With Me-240 second recharge- Shout-
Allow you and 2 nearby allies with melee weapons equipped, a chance to charge instantly to your target if they choose.

Colossus- 150 second recharge -Transformation-
transform into a colossus and take on a defensive juggernaut approach.

Hospice Banner – 240 second recharge – Banner
Summon forth a banner with powerful recovery healing abilities.


Utility: 15

Slam – 12 second Recharge- 1 second cast -Physical-
Grab target and slam them into the ground causing (knockdown effect) and dealing damage to nearby enemies.

Taunt of Ego – 25 second recharge – Shout-
Shout and absorb damage taken by the next attack against allies for up to 5 nearby allies. Last 6 seconds.

Drag and Drop – 15 second recharge – Physical –
grab target enemy and hold on to them for 5 seconds, pulling them with you.

Banner of Ego – 120 second recharge – Banner -
Summon a banner that absorbs damage of nearby allies up to 10%.

CPR – 12 second recharge – Channel
Heal allies nearby over the duration of the channel.

Titan Strike – 8 second recharge – physical-
smash weapon down into enemy’s face, dealing damage and causing weakness.

Death Howl – 20 second recharge – shout-
Convert Swiftness, Regen, Protection and Fury into conditions, with increased duration for nearby enemies.

Empowering Pierce- 25 second recharge – physical-
Smash weapon into target, causing allies that hit the target to gain health, and gain might and fury for 3 seconds. Stacks 5 times.

Breaking them Down- 20 second recharge – physical- channel-
Swing weapon side to side wildly, while channeling, and cause Weakness, Vulnerability and Torment to enemies hit. Can move whole channeling but move slower.

Medical Orders – 25 second recharge – Shout-
Heal nearby allies and cure 1 condition on them and grants protection and regeneration to them.

Wound Thrust – 40 second recharge – physical -
strike the target. If target is suffering from Weakness, or Poison, all healing effects for the next 10 seconds will be delayed by 1 second.

I Will Help – 40 second recharge – shout-
Your next heal skill can be activated twice, and heals nearby allies when used. But the effect is reduced by 75% each, and does not self heal. Last 30 seconds or until both charges are used.

Recovery Stance – 60 second recharge – Stance-
gain regeneration, and cleanse 1 condition every 2 seconds. Last 10 seconds.

Weapon and Chain – 60 second recharge -
Melee weapons and Close range Physicals attack slower and recharge slower, but have their range increased for 10 seconds. Charging Skills removes the effect.

Burning Rage- 15 second recharge-
Burn and Torment nearby enemies when they attack you. the More damage done to you, the longer the duration.


There. If I can come up with 20 skills for a single class on my own, I am sure Anet with a team of minds can come up with more than that.

Making certain weapon types Water Only, was a bad idea.

Spears could have been a cool weapon to use, yet was made into a water weapon.

Same for Tridents and Spearguns.

The key problem is, that most players arent into Water Combat in this game, like it was hyped up to be..

We are limited in the number of Land Weapons as is,
and moving water weapons to land would greatly improve the land combat variety.

Add an easier version of Triple Trouble between the harder (longer cooldown period) versions of the Triple Trouble.

This gives novice more changes to practice the fights and learn them, so we get better at it.

the current problem is that you spawn 3 timed bosses on us at once, yet do this only once every 9 hours.

We dont get time to learn the fight.

Maybe every fewer hours introduce an easier fight by simply spawning a single Wurm every 2.5 hours.

and then on every 9th hour, we get the normal harder version of the fight which all three spawn at once like currently is.

What do you guys think about having a boss like Tequatl in WvW?
The Server with more overall dmg gets the loot.
I think that will make more ppl to come and will open some oportunities,a bigger rivalry,etc.

EoTM is the largest form of PvP in this game, yet its all about PvDoor/Keep-Lord!

Please give us more rewards for playing defense.

Make Sieging from range, be the motivation for playing Offense. so we have more large scale PvP fights.

Thats what I want.

But I totally understand the in-game community feeling about the current offense train. Since the game is so grindy, many people play for the best rewards, rather than for the most fun, since they dont want to be punished their time, without progression.

So this is why I suggest getting your best developers together in a meeting room, and figuring out some ideas for how to make Defense even more rewarding to play, and PvP action even more rewarding to play, than the simple Zerg vs Door/Keep-Lord gameplay which we currently have.

Trust me, I am sure there are many people that want to have fun as well in large scale PvP fights, but they dont want to waste precious Progression time doing that in a game that is built all on Progression.

And WvW simply isnt bumping when it comes to large scale PvP for everybody, since we all play on different servers at different times with different server sizes, (hence why EoTM was created in the first place).

I would so like a way to level up my alts by playing the characters I enjoy the most.

I want to get my Ele to level 80 and play it at full effect.

But I simply enjoy playing on my already established 80s, more than I do leveling my Ele.

Some classes and play styles I simple enjoy more. I enjoy the look and feel of playing my heavy armored Warrior/Guardian

and I enjoy the playstyle of my Engineer

And I enjoy the Weapon + Healing Magic hybrid nature of my Ranger.

But the other classes I simply havnt been able to get into like that.

My Ele is in the 50s, but I can never seen to make time for him, because I rather have some fun on my 80s and do some Meta Events, and WvW type stuff, or simply roleplay and chill out in the 80s zones with the scary monsters everywhere.

I cant justify enough to give up that time, to play the boring leveling game just so I can unlock the fun of yet another alt class once it each higher levels.

I wouldnt mind giving my alt all the exp I gain on my 80s, that I gain from continued play. Because the Skill Points gained on my 80s dont mean much to me now. I rather my alt get all that exp to level with.

I simply want to play the characters and classes that I want to play, in order to level my alts.

Does anybody else see my view of this issue?

This is an age long discussion. Well what my idea are, is the following; imagine that there arent a lot of people killing the centaur’s and because of that the centaurs gather every week (if they are enough) at their gigantic citadel where we have to raid them there or defend Divinity’s Reach from their planned attack or bad stuff happens(like divinity’s reach looks like LA:P). Same go’s for the inquest->asura, dredge->whoever, cant remember the dragon worshippers name->norn, Fire legion->char, evil plants-> good plants. The Sylvari, norn, humans, asura and char all have their own home capitals why cant the evil plants, molls, rats, ponies and white walkers have theirs? Also if one 2 isnt enought then they can combine to attack LA for example, Sylvari+flame legion (lol)

Er. How does it not make sense? Aside from the fact that he said ‘raid’ and since it’s linked to other MMOs, it’s instantly disregarded, because “GW2 is different from other MMOs”.

With some refinement, it could be a pretty nice idea for some PvE content.

Your reason is flawed and makes no sense thematically.

As for raids themselves, they do not suit the aim of GW2 or the major playerbase the game aims to please. There are several MMOs out there that cater to a raiding community, with one more being released at the end of the month.

Aside from the aversion to other MMO ideas implemented into GW2 (LFG tool, wardrobe, WvW, to name a few, say hi btw), this could be implemented as an extension to PvE, apart from the LS, that becomes permanent.

It just needs some brainstorming, which of course might just be wasted time on our parts, but, on the off chance that it does get read and taken into consideration, it wouldn’t hurt, right?

I’d change the thread name into something else, though, else the white knights will run rampant.

Raids would be welcome.

I just hope they have both Easy Raid dungeons, and also Extremely hard raids.

Think Easy Raid == Frozen Maw
Hard Raids == Teq/TT

So we can choose the difficulty of the content we want to do.
