Loot needs to drop from mobs or we be rewarded immediately with blooms after an event finishes. My game froze 2 min. to the end of the event – luckily I had the presence of mind to just leave it alone hoping that the game servers still thought I was playing. When I felt the event was over I eventually end-tasked the game and restarted and my chest was there.
But I would’ve been livid if after 28 minutes I received nothing because of a game error.
Little late but this event needs to end and be rethought and restarted at a later date.
That… actually makes sense. Would explain a few things about why this event was designed the way it was.
Just going to add my voice to those who are disappointed with this event. I think all the problems have been spelled out pretty clear by others.
How I feel doing the event is stressed out. To get full rewards you have to complete 20 events in 30 minutes. That’s 1.5 minutes to Waypoint – tag mobs – get out of combat and move on to the next event. You simply can’t stay and are basically a leech counting on other players to finish the event you left.
And for all this stress and bad feelings the max you get is 15 blooms. That’s frankly ridiculous considering the costs of the rewards.
I’m fairly new to GW2 as I’ve only been playing 6 months. So I haven’t seen how your festivals/events work till now. I played LOTRO for years and had fun at the festivals. There were a bevvy of rewards and all were attainable – ALL of them could be gotten in the time allotted with the festival. With this event I will have to grind the whole time just to afford 1 of the rewards on offer – and have to pay gold on top of it.
None of this makes sense to me and it definitely isn’t fun.
Yeah if it remains 5-10 blooms as the max reward I just simply won’t do these events. Not sure what they are thinking but someone’s math is off somewhere if they think this is in any way reasonable or fun.
Plus charging silver/gold for rewards you already worked hard to get the blooms for while mobs aren’t dropping anything at all. The whole thing is ridiculously messed up from a value perspective.
Yeah I tested this, I was able to hit 1 mob just 1 time, then backed away – full credit for the event.
I don’t even know if it’s scummy to continue to do something like that or not. On the one hand you aren’t really doing anything to help. Then on the other you not being at the event doesn’t scale it up so it makes it easier. So yeah. It’s just bizarre it works this way.
Yeah I don’t trust portals anymore. Was doing Taihda with the gate almost down. Saw a portal in front of a gate, thought it would take me to kegs to help. Nope, took me to Laughing Gull waypoint. Had to rush around the island to get back as Taidha spawned. Not fun.
Take portals at your own risk.
I just completed Celedon yesterday on a character and when I zoned to Lion’s Arch the map completion chest auto-opened.
Now I DID have like 15 hearts waiting to be collected as well and all but 2 were I guess auto-collected when I zoned. So maybe the game just chose the map completion chest randomly to open along with those hearts.
I’ve had this happen one time about 2 months ago and never again. But it was the same issue. For me though the sounds stopped first, and then the fps dropped. Had to endtask the game and restart and that fixed it. No clue what could be causing it multiple times for some folks though.
This is just stupid.
I mean, BETA Achievements??
We’re playing because of enjoying the game not hunting these kitten stupid achievements.
And Yep I know some mad AE nerd hunter will reply me now with his/her rage of wall,
BRING IT ON!!!1!
Sometimes achievement hunting can be fun as well. I mean, if it’s in the game you can assume it’s got to be fun in some way to somebody or provide a sense of achievement; which is a positive thing. There is no one way to have fun playing the game.
I think the issue here is these beta achievements are visible to non-beta characters, so people wonder if they will transfer over. I think that’s a mistake on Anet’s part if they wanted these achievements to only be for beta characters. They should have only been visible to beta characters so there would be no confusion.
Everyone dislikes SOMETHING about the game. I personally hate event participation. But if that comes up in the daily, I have a plethora of other things to do. I’m not huge on WvW or PVP, but there is usually something in them that’s easy to do so I don’t mind dipping my toes into those areas. And if not; then I suck it up and go run around the crab toss arena.
Basically the daily rewards are worth enough of my time to do things I’m not fond of every now and again. If the daily rewards mean similar to you, suck it up and find something you can do to complete them. If not – skip the daily for the day. It’s not the end of the game to miss some spirit shards and achievement points every once in a while.
As a side note; I’m not too fond of fractals myself. They are okay, but to do a full set takes a while. So I only do the fractal daily if it’s dual fractals. Knock two dailies out at once. What’s not to like? I’ll set aside time to do that.
Probably what others have said that the map filled up too fast for people in the guild to make it in; so they hop maps. That said, would be nice if the leader would just give a heads up in map chat about it so PUGs aren’t left high and dry. (Considering it’s Teq, would the phrase then be underwater and wet?)
It’s a current bug with racial cities (Black Citadel, Rata Sum, Divinity’s Reach, The Grove). You will complete map exploration of a city without finding all the POI there. For instance The Grove when you are there shows 5/5 POI when in reality there are like 19 POI there.
So I suggest going to each racial city and carefully looking for any POI you didn’t find.
RNG how does it work?!
Haven’t noticed any negative change in mine like you mentioned. But I did get charged quartz two days in a row from it this past week plus a day that rewarded 15 quartz. So it’s working better than expected on my end, at least this week.
Other than that run of good luck, mine is behaving normally.
I wouldn’t mind Gift of Exploration to be buyable so long as you’ve done world completion at least once. But it needs to be appropriately expensive, not just time gated.
Perhaps instead of receiving the Gift of Exploration you instead receive a recipe to craft it which can only be used by the character you got world completion with. Ascended materials are time gated so it would fall in line with that; except obviously extend the time between crafts. And then you could have a vendor sell one of the materials you needed to craft the Gift of Exploration so you could control the cost that way.
‘May all your names be taken upon character creation.’ ~ Ancient gypsy curse
My advice is to just let it go and be more original.
Yeah there has been just a few threads on this the past week. :P
For so many to be cropping up this must be a new issue where racial cities will award map completion and show map completion even though you haven’t discovered all the POI there. But in the end will halt world completion till you discover them.
I know I didn’t have any issues with this on my first character who did world completion a while back. Yet just recently ran into this issue with my 2nd character.
Have you completed season 2 already? If so, how about starting up the last episode and then quitting that and see if that gets rid of the tracking.
I know I had that issue and it was fixed doing that. This was pre introduction of the Scarlet Recap though so not sure if that still works.
Following that thread and others linked on the issue, it appears to be a problem in cities; you’ll get map completion in them without actually finding all the poi locations.
For me it was The Grove. The map for it shows 5/5 POIs but there are at least a dozen POI. I’m guessing other cities are similar. Anyway, I went there and found the POI I missed. But this issue needs to be addressed by Anet. Why list only 5 POIs and actually have map completion for that city if there are actually double that number you need?
If anyone else is having this issue just go to racial cities and look around closely for any extra POI.
Noticed this as well. Usually have to have an enemy targeted for the shot to come out. So if you are trying to stack might before fighting something but don’t have anything targeted, the shot doesn’t do anything.
That’s not it as I’m standing there right now.
Having this exact same issue. Character select screen says 100%, but in-game it’s at 99% with one POI missing. Every individual map says 100% and I have the Chantry of Secrets as well.
Any clue on how to fix this?
Haha, as people get bored with it, you’ll see less and less of them. It’s not exactly a rare thing and you know how people like to show off their rare stuff. :P
I think it’s funny seeing so many of them around. They from a distance look like tapeworms; so it makes me smile to see a bunch of tapeworms following players around and doing tricks in the air.
Overall I think Anet did a great job with this ‘mini’, no need to change it. ^__^
Knockbacks are for solo play only period. You knock an enemy back because you are prepared to follow up on that.
Doing knockbacks in a group setting is poor form. You’re basically saying; ’I’m more important than everyone else here, look what I can do!’ You can followup on your knockback, everyone else has to scramble. It’s a reduction to overall dps of the group and sometimes costs people loot drops because they couldn’t deal enough damage or couldn’t even get a tag in when a champ is knocked away.
Knockbacks are meant to put distance between your target and yourself. It’s not meant to save an enemy from a group of people attacking it.
Just bought the Watchwork pick today and yeah it’s really the obvious choice. The droprate is very generous; got around 18 sprockets from the bit of mining I did today.
Sometimes it might take a while, but I’ve never seen defenses empty. Especially turrets, those are always filled.
Yeah it sort of makes me roll my eyes whenever I see that. At least names aren’t attached to bids otherwise I’d know who the cheapskates are in the game. :P
Personally I feel if you’re going to outbid someone, why do it by 1 copper when it’s very likely someone else is going to just outbid you by a copper. And so forth and so on everyone adding a penny and a nickle; driving up prices for everyone in the process.
For small items; whatever. But I really get laughing when big ticket items start to be increased by copper. You are already bidding 450 gold (plus 1 copper more than me!), why not just at least up your bid 50 silver over mine if not a gold or several gold?
Usually when I go back to check on high bids it’s when I’m ready to drop another 20+ gold down, so it makes me laugh when I see someone’s outbid me by copper. Like okay, whatever buddy. :P
My only question is when is the last time you gave the inside of your pc a good dusting? With summer and temps climbing in most of the world; a dust filled computer only gets hotter and hotter thus causing game slowdowns, freezes and crashes.
If you or anyone reading has never opened your pc and cleaned it out, here’s your reminder to do so. Get a can of air and blow the dust right on out. Your pc and games will thank you.
May not fix everyone’s problem, but it’s surprising how often a dusty pc leads to lower game performance issues. So give it a try.
Don’t think the devs set up the game to where you could have enough materials to outfit 15 characters in ascended gear just on a whim. I think ascended/legendary should be something you work hard and long to get. And that’s just outfitting 1 character, not 15! Where would it even end? Should the player with 30-50-100 characters be able to instantly have all the spirit shards they need too?
As for spirit shards; been working on another legendary and had to buy philo stones to craft clovers. Got down to ~370 spirit shards a few days back, and already back up to 410. So I dunno, guess through doing my everyday thing I’ve been getting 10/day or so. I honestly don’t think that’s bad. Probably got a similar amount of skillpoints back when Miyani used that.
Buffed health pool is not hard mode Teq. As I’ve suggested before; if you want a hard Teq fight all you gotta do is spawn into the map like 30 seconds before the event starts. You’ll probably get into a fresh map. Loads of challenge trying to set things up and organize the handful of people you’ve got with you. Seriously, have a blast with hard mode, just don’t expect any rewards from it.
Teq is back where it should be for the majority of the player base.
Far as I know it’s always been like that. Same with Claw of Jormag’kittenbox sticking around once he flies off in phase 1.
Dragons are weird like that I guess.
The Lion’s Arch thing is a separate bug that was happening before.
I was able to log back in after the first DC and was still on Bloodtide coast.
We tried a 2nd time and it disconnected at the same part in the fight, Haha.
Honestly, one could argue that the champ farmers kind of ARE helping the event because it keeps the champs and other mobs from killing the golems. But yeah, there just isn’t much to do during that phase. Most people I see farming the champs grab a flame thrower, knock out a couple of the ice spikes, kill champs, kill some more ice spikes, kill more champs, etc.
I hope that one day this fight gets reworked.
I’ve been on a few maps where there were only a couple champ farming. The champs are drawn to where the zerg and golems are and do attack that area. So yeah it does help to have people distracting them and keeping them on the ledges.
Some of the champs have such high health that they stay around doing damage for a long time. They are nearly impossible to kill unless you have tons attacking (they normally insta-die once Claw becomes vulnerable). They wreak havoc if they get to the zerg.
My question is why are you trying to do Claw of Jormag when the loot from the champ farm is better than what you get from the big chest and bonus chest for completing the event?
There are a couple events in the game where you get more loot from delaying the event’s completion or outright failing the event. Claw of Jormag is one of them. The longer phase 2 takes the more champ loot boxes drop. I average around 10 from the event; even more if the fight takes longer than expected.
My advice is join the champ train honestly. Pick up a flamethrower, set skill 1 to auto, and light up everything that moves.
Have to admit I was confused about Season 2 as well. Only had the game for 4 months and I guess I thought the personal story was ‘Season 1’ and then I bought Season 2. Started off Season 2 and I was very confused wondering who all these people were and what was going on.
I know you guys have a lot going on with HoT, but maybe some cinematic that goes over the events that happened in Living World Season 1 for people who bought Season 2 that plays before things get rolling. If that could be added in the future it would go a long way to letting people enjoy the story without feeling so confused.
Dungeons aren’t so hard that you should have to worry about such things. If for some reason your group is having trouble beating the boss; tell them to switch back or get kicked. Simple.
- 6/29, between 10pm-11pm EST
- Koomaster.9176
- Lion’s Arch
- All over Lion’s Arch as this happened multiple times.
- Taking my friend around showing him the karka hunt.
- No gifs, sorry
- Not that I recall, just dropped over dead.
- The only two locations I remember me dying is 1. That bridge that has the wonky floating sand texture at one end of it. I jumped from the bridge through the texture and died instantly. 2. Octobank, was showing my friend how to jump up the tentacles. First tentacle I jumped on I just flopped over dead. Both my friend and I died several times each in the span of an hour in Lion’s Arch but those are the only locations I remember specifically.
This happened to my friend and I tonight in Lion’s Arch. I was taking him around doing the Karka Hunt and we would just randomly die all over the place. Jumping up a hill – dead, getting out of the water – dead, standing around looking at something – dead. We were also teleporting around each other’s screens as we were moving; just a weird lag.
My friend also had issues using the karka hunting gun. Sometimes it would just stop working and he’d have to log out and back in and get a new gun. We BOTH at one point couldn’t use any of our skills. No idea what was going on there or how it happened to both of us. We dropped party and that didn’t fix it. He logged out and I Waypointed and that fixed us both.
I’ve been in the game all day beforehand without issue. My friend and I before heading to Lion’s Arch had successfully completed CoE story mode with some other friends without issue. So this weird drop dead bug is related to Lion’s Arch.
The best way I can describe all this is as if the Lion’s Arch on our computers are slightly shifted compared to where the servers think Lion’s Arch should be. So to the serves it appears we’re just walking off ledges; but our computers are saying everything is fine. Then somewhere along the way the servers win the argument with our computers and bam – death catches up to us.
I have to ask, I’m not connecting your thread title with your post. Can you elaborate more on what you are proposing? I’m intrigued by the concept of a legendary backpack, but your post doesn’t mention anything about that.
Seems an idea to use essence of luck in crafting a legendary back item.
I actually wouldn’t mind recipes in all areas of crafting that used essence of luck. I liked that some was required in crafting Mawdrey/Mawdrey II.
The only problem I see is that essence of luck is so prevalent. You’d probably have a full stack of the fine in 2 days, the masterwork in maybe a week just through regular play. Then the others are so rare people would complain about never getting any of that type. Maybe a way to convert the fine/masterwork into rare/exotic essence of luck would be needed as well.
If you want to remove the boxes, remove the electric field entirely. It’s too random and sometimes you simply can’t get out of it before you’re dead.
Just did this fight a little while ago and honestly didn’t notice any difference, even with the zerg using boxes and ranging.
Not sure why you guys want to make content more difficult for everyone else. If you want a harder time wait to zone into boss fights till a few seconds before it starts. You’ll probably get a fresh map without a zerg. Solo the boss to your hearts content if you want a difficult fight. But talk about a waste of time.
Gonna lump myself in to those saying you can’t solo Teq. It is a group effort and things can/will go wrong. As I said in another thread pre-patch if things went wrong there was chance of recovery. A chance to figure out mid-fight what went wrong and what area of the map needs help and to come together to solve the problem. Now 1 mistake likely means a fail.
All the ‘hardcore’ people you’re the minority of the playerbase. If things stay the way they are you’re going to see mass numbers walking away from this fight and you’re not going to be able to complete it on your own. In fact you’ve NEVER completed it on your own. There has always been a mix of hardcore, casuals and every level in between at every single Teq fight working TOGETHER to make it happen for EVERYONE!
That’s what it’s about, the community coming and playing together.
Keep bosses as they are but up the rewards. We work harder we should earn more imo.
If you’re going to make it so that Teq fails most of the time, people are going to walk away from trying to fight it. Got to give incentive to keep trying even if it fails. If people start walking away from these fights (like they have with triple trouble) you’re going to have a real challenge on your hands trying to fight Teq all by yourself. Fun!
Here’s a rough breakdown of extra character slots:
Everyone who bought HoT – Geta a beta character slot (has a little green Beta tag in the bottom right corner and can’t be used unless a beta is running).
People who bought the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions – Also get a regular character slot.
Everyone who bought GW2 before January 2015 and buys any version of HoT – Will also, at a later date, get an extra character slot. So people who bought the standard edition will have 1+beta and people who bought the deluxe or ultimate will have 2+beta.
Everyone who bought GW2 after January 2015 – Does not get the extra slot mentioned above but can request a refund on the base game and still keep their account.
In addition…
“If you purchased the core game from a third party, we are unable to provide a refund. However, if you registered the core game between January 23, 2015 and June 16, 2015 and upgrade it by prepurchasing any Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns edition before Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns‘ launch, we will add one additional character slot to your Guild Wars 2 account.”
So if you purchased from a 3rd party and registered before June 16th and pre-order you get an extra slot.
Edit: Yeah what xarallei said. I’m too slow. ^_^;
After the first patch when Teq melted like butter I suggested maybe doubling his health.
…
I TAKE IT BACK! Haha. I know this will eventually get sorted out but whoo boy. Balance team needs to take lighter touches instead of coming in with a sledge hammer. :P
You’d think their sledgehammer would be falling apart at this point. I love this game, but man Anet really has serious trouble with game balance.
Obviously it’s the legendary sledgehammer; Juggernaut’s Cousin. :P
The fractal relic vendor in the fractal lobby sells it in the ring tab.
Yep, just found this myself yesterday. I think it’s called a bag of fractal relics. Same conversion as before. Buy with 1 pristine and the bag holds 15 relics.
After the first patch when Teq melted like butter I suggested maybe doubling his health.

Shuuuu… the new CityTownHunter is our secret weapon to fighting the dragons!
I’m sure a new hot item will come along and be overvalued and then you can hold on to that and not sell it and balance will be restored to the world.
I like the design of the new icon, but yeah the color makes it get lost on the map.
