Does the game even call it a ‘puzzle’? I think it’s just called Winter Wonderland.
Oh snap; slam dunk; mic drop; explosion; walk away!
Just kidding. But it really is a puzzle in that it’s a problem (‘How am I gonna do this?’) that amuses (well it’s fun to some people, not all puzzles are fun to everyone) and it requires patients to complete it. By your own definition it is a puzzle.
I’m fairly new to the game but it seems every event that has happened the past few months people ask the same question – when is the end date? And it takes forever for devs to respond to a simple question. I would think they would know? Other MMOs I’ve played, when they have seasonal events put it right upfront; ‘Hey this ends in 3 weeks, have fun!’ But GW2 it’s like a mystery for the first week or so and then; ‘Oh yeah this ends in a few days, hope you had fun.’
For sanity’s sake can in the future just tell players when an event ends right up front. I don’t think it’s a lot to ask for.
As an aside, I don’t want to say GW2 is stingy with rewards, but well ya are. I don’t mind some hard work in the game, but it seems you guys are expecting a lot from players just to earn a few fluff/fun items. Instead of a relaxing fun time with the event, as a player you feel pressed to grind the activities in order to earn what you want. This is compounded by not even knowing when the event ends. So how about taking just a tad bit of pressure of and let us know when things end; especially if you’re going to keep up this level of grind for some festival rewards.
Same issue here, wp to Verdant Brink and my character disconnects after a few seconds. Something must be up tonight.
Don’t know if this is related as I don’t notice my ping. But the updrafts in the game don’t send me as high as other players. Most of the time this isn’t an issue. But in Dragon Stand it’s very frustrating. I can barely make it to the islands from the first updrafts. Usually I have to turn around and re-hit the updraft in order to get a little more height and then lean glide toward the island and I barely touch down on it. Looks like I’m about to crash into the side of it.
Seems a lot of times in game I can’t hit the sweet spot of the updrafts.
Yep as others have said, they don’t want people using the bank as a personal storage device. It also encourages sellers to be competitive which is good for buyers.
Wield a sword instead of a torch and you’ve got Leona cosplay.
Personally I like e-sports and watching others play games. However not a big fan of the UI clutter. However again I know it will be gone eventually so I just don’t bother focusing on it while it’s up. Maybe work on a way to dismiss those messages per gaming session. Sort of like Anet saying; ‘Yo, this is going on, you interested?’ and I can just go; ‘Not right now thanks.’ click an x and it goes away, but will come back next time I log in incase I change my mind.
As for loading screens, I do like that they moved the words to the top of the screen rather than dead center like they usually do. But either way, it’s a loading screen. Something I and everyone else has seen hundreds/thousands of times. Do you guys really care that much about what’s on the loading screen that appears for a few seconds before you get to your destination?
Like, I’m sure these loading screens have been uploaded online. Just alt-tab to your browser and look at the pictures if words being over your loading screen bugs you so horribly.
I’m sorry but this is a really petty complaint to be making.
I think the difference is that the spiders were dropping loot as well as xp. COF farm doesn’t drop the loot so they didn’t feel the need to nerf it yet.
I have a sigil in my staff that triggers a flame blast and on top of that I run sun spirit which has a chance to apply burning. Seems to get the job done in terms of condition damage.
Guild missions already seem to be toying with the idea of creating a brand new instance just for the guild when normally these things just took place in the open world. So why not entire maps?
Just let a leader from the guild hall select a map and reserve an IP for the guild. The only people that can get into the map are those already in the guild hall and those that are taxi’ed into the map from people who get on the map.
After a certain time, open the map to everyone. Like say after 10 minutes if it’s not already full of the guild and people the guild has taxi’ed in; treat it like any normal map ip that has spawned.
From someone who had to buy LS2, I agree.
I didn’t mind having to pay for it a few months ago. But considering the new story line ties into LS2, it makes sense to give that to players who purchase HoT. Plus there are mastery points tied to it as well which should be available to HoT purchasers.
Honestly don’t even know why they are releasing or working on any other picks. The gain from the watchwork pick is too great to ever consider buying any other pick from the gemstore. Even for aesthetic reasons I can’t fathom why any player would choose any other pick for their characters.
Could be what some have asked for, a way to get gift of exploration without having to take another character through the world again. As long as you have one gift of exploration, you can craft more.
I know, boring. I’m a realist. :P
I think they do it the way they do because the meta events need everyone on the map to participate to help make it successful. If x-amount of players are off on Adventures, it hurts others who are on the map for the meta.
It’s sort of similar to Silverwastes how the map has to agree to either be doing the Vinewrath events or doing a chest train – but not both on the same ip.
That being said, I think all the adventures should just open their own little instance and be available at all times. Frees up space on the map for those who want to do the meta, and for those who want adventures they are always accessible.
Just to make sure, you helped rid the training area of pests? Seems there is an event tied to him selling what you’re looking for.
Not sure if it’s just coincidence, but I’ve observed with one of my friends that they’ve been dropping in alphabetical order, skipping any specializations that haven’t been unlocked yet.
Berserker -> Chronomancer -> Daredevil -> Dragonhunter -> Druid -> Herald -> Reaper -> Scrapper -> Tempest
This checks out for me, I have Beserker → Dragonhunter → Druid unlocked and my first 3 spores have gone into those collections in alphabetical order.
increase the map cap and it’ll solve this problem easily. we can barely get 50+ in attendance before the map is full and we’re still failing.
This is really the issue; for whatever reason this map tends to cap lower than every other map in the game.
For my guild we basically have to claim the map, try our best to get people in and do the first run, then stay on the map and keep our taxi lines going through the whole thing to keep getting people in for the 2nd and 3rd attempts. It’s really hours and hours spent just to get the numbers of dedicated people we need.
The event is tough but getting the numbers in the map is frustrating and that really shouldn’t be part of the challenge.
Same puzzle, same problem for my guild. Some members got credit, some didn’t. We ran it twice. I think someone said they got credit both times for it as well.
The minimap is also wrong for this puzzle. Shows we’re in Lornar’s Pass and also doesn’t even show the maze like it usually does.
Those of us who didn’t get credit tried waiting out the timer. Once we got kicked out of the instance, we still didn’t get credit.
I have one hell of a time selecting the thing. Just mad clicking every where. But I don’t really mind other than that, I think people pretty much have it down at this point.
Agreed. I think the fight is fine except for the inability to actually target the bomb.
What usually happens whenever I am there…
1. Bomb spawns
2. Mass of players and/or enemies around it.
3. I spend WAY too long clicking on everything but the bomb.
4. Someone manages to start knocking it down the lane.
5. It’s still in a sea of players/ mobs and I’m still trying to target it.
6. I finally get a target on it.
7. Someone knocks it into the octovine.
8. Repeat.
On the rare instances I do get a target on it I usually get trampled or pulled by mobs in the area and thus am unable to actually use my knockback on it.
Guardian Hammers or Elementalist Hammers are what must be knocking it back since you don’t need a target with those. I sure can’t select it and knock it back as a Ranger. I sort of just give up even trying and just focus on weeding out all the mobs whenever I’m at south instead of pushing the bomb.
Have to agree on this one. Guild buffs should be available to everyone in a guild no matter what tier of player they are, f2p, base, HoT.
Hoping it’s just an oversight and will be corrected or addressed soon.
Issue: Character was invincible except to aoe. Also healing drastically reduced. Could only fully heal out of combat.
Not sure how to reproduce it, but happened when fighting Vinetooth Prime in Auric Basin. I went into the downed state and my pet (and other players) revived me. During this though Vinetooth was knocking me around as I’m being revived.
When I got up, I had a target over my head like I was being marked by a sniper. Afterwards though I took no damage except through aoes. My healing also was drastically reduced to double digits despite being a druid with a plethora of healing skills available to me and being spec’ed for healing. A few heal skills did no healing at all.
Waypointing and changing maps did not fix this. The only thing that fixed it was through full death. Was funny watching a dozen mobs beat away at me doing zero damage. One mob though had a poison field which slowly brought me down. Even my downed state in this condition took a long time to kill me; again only seeming to be affected by the one mob’s aoe.
After death everything was normal again.
As for possible cause, again not sure. Maybe because it took so long to revive me because of Vinetooth knocking me around the game thought I was permanently in the downed state and thus no healing? Don’t know why no damage if that was the case though.
Game crashes when…
Guild Hall Treasurer screen is open + opening guild tab on top of that and selecting history.
Crash happened 2x in a row by doing the exact same thing; so thought I should post about it.
If you no longer want to participate in an ‘awful group’ you could always leave the map. If you have no confidence the map will succeed, do something else or try to get into a different IP. No need to punish the whole map to make sure it doesn’t succeed.
Alternately you could step up and try to lead. Don’t wait 45 minutes for people to figure things out f you know the information. Tell people in map chat, and those around you in say chat. Invite people to a group, tell them what to do at each pod. You have choices other than standing around waiting for things to fail.
This is new content for everyone. It may be someone’s first experience with the map or the mechanics of the fight. Give people time and they will figure things out and maps will get more organized; especially if you pitch in and help without being negative.
You assume too much. Instructions were clearly given and the meta event also clearly tells you what to do. If you have morons ruining the event, there should be a way to end the event without the whole kitten thing taking 45 minutes.
People need to be reminded – constantly. Not everyone has done this fight a bunch of times or at all.
Again why should there be a fail mechanic? If you’re having trouble dealing with it – leave. Why are you sticking around the fight? It makes no sense to punish everyone because you don’t know how to work with others.

Yeah how these are doled out in the game is odd; and I think makes Juggernaut one of the harder legendaries to craft because of it. Other legendary materials drop normally if you’re level 80. Some rare but still drop. Silver Doubloons are only for level 20-30 characters from chests and some bags.
When I was crafting Juggernaut I had 3 characters parked at jumping puzzle chests for a month and only ended up with a handful from that. Realized my only choice was the TP if I didn’t want to wait an eternity. Even back then they hovered around 1g80s each.
I think there needs to be a way to get them otherwise or have them drop for everyone.
Yeah this feels like the next step. Really long overdue actually. Sometimes you just need to adjust your build to the current situation. I’d rather plan this kind of thing beforehand and then be able to switch on the fly when needed.
I don’t understand the moaning about this. You don’t want other players to play elite classes… why? Why set the bar at 400 when 250 is fair. It’s still a good deal of work to get that, not to mention the points you spend to unlock everything else before the elite spec is available.
If YOU feel it’s too easy on yourself, just get the required 400 Hero Points before you unlock your elite spec. Nobody is forcing you to unlock it as soon as you get to 250.
Without knowing the exact HP you’re talking about, you do realize deep in the gliding trait line you can glide in stealth. Maybe Anet set that specific HP up to take advantage of that trait?
Just bought a $25 2000 gem gift card from Walmart today. Don’t know what other place sells them and I don’t think they come in different amounts.
Tyria Mastery Point need more way to earn it

Ouch, I started with 47. I have no clue where they all came from but I’m glad now that I played a mix of everything since day 1.
Same. I think though I have done a lot of achievements and that’s how I started with so many?
Also as someone said playing through all the races + orders. I have done that so have gotten all the achievements from those.
Just look in achievements tab and see which ones are easy for you to do if you are looking for more.
How about allowing the glide option once the map is completed? Would solve the issue of cheesing the vistas etc.
True enough. Plus considering to even get gliding you have to be level 80 and play in HoT, it’s likely many players have already done whatever Jumping Puzzles, Vistas and what have you.
I’m not upset they don’t allow gliding in the main world. There are a plethora of good reasons why they don’t. But it would be awesome if they retooled old maps to make them glide friendly as I just enjoy gliding so much personally.
Precursors are just expensive. It doesn’t matter though what price Anet set the precursor cost at, the TP would adjust to match it.
I noticed this happen before HoT as well at least once. Then it happened to me again last night. Both times I took out the same type of item again and poof, the first one appeared in my inventory as well as the second.
Be sure you are wearing the white wings; they are visible on your character when you talk to the scout. They will give you the glider item to activate.
Not silly at all. Hope you’ll enjoy many more adventures in Tyria! ^____^
Hoping your treatment goes well! Keep fighting!
Uh… you don’t know if they could be used for something in the future. What if legendary armor requires them or something else in some capacity. Why make such a rash decision to sell something so valuable?
About a week before the change I had 2 key drops within a week of each other. After the change 1 key drop. No other key drops. So don’t know what that means. After the change I also got a precursor drop (dawn) so maybe my rng is on an upswing in general.
As for chests, dozens. Haven’t kept track but I sold ~25 on the TP recently when I realized I had so many. Actually just created a new character yesterday and got him to level 15 and had 2 chests drop just from that.
Going to basically be ignoring HoT till Halloween event is over. I LOVE holidays/festivals in games and pretty much eschew all content in favor of limited time events. Plus I am fairly new to GW2 so have not done any of this content. So I’m very excited to see what it’s all about. ^_^
You can do it! Since you only have a bit left just look for what would be easy to do for you or which ones give a lot. Good luck!
Talk about devaluing the whole concept of a legendary weapon. Why not hand them out to every new character made? Or if that’s too much, have Teq drop full legendary weapons as often as spoons.
Really now.
Advice: Buy it. Save the gold and buy it off the TP. It’s safe and you will eventually get there so long as you’re not spending your gold on frivolities. The mystic forge is a gamble. You could get the precursor on the first bit of random junk you throw in; or you’ll still not get it a year later.
I’ve bought 3 precursors over the past 6 months. Safe & reliable.
It’s good to mix things up and do World Bosses every once in a while.
Teq is pretty much the go-to one to do. Head into the map 30min. before and farm plat/hard wood till it’s go time. You can get the ground chest 1x per day per character you do it with. So yeah, lots of opportunities for ascended gear plus the 1 gold the ground chest gives.
Other than that, Jormag is okay to do. The pre-events with the ice crystals have a chance to spawn champs w/champ boxes. And phase 2 has champs crawling all over the place if you watch the ledges. The longer phase 2 lasts the more champs can spawn. Some are fake but you learn fast which ones to ignore.
All told the Jormag fight can get you ~10 champ boxes depending how long phase 2 lasts. Also some good nodes to be had around the area ori/ancient wood/snow truffles. Plus a champ troll who spawns nearby that people like to kill.
Sometimes it’s not the WB itself but getting to know the area and what events/champs/nodes there are to be had. Like it’s really easy to grab a ton of nodes if you zone in 10 min. before Karka Queen spawns. So don’t think you have to only go to an area for the WB and then leave.
I don’t understand why anyone wants this amount of difficulty for open world content that is supposed to be accessible by anybody. These enemies are way too difficult. I shouldn’t need to travel with a zerg just to survive pve. Again, keep this to raids if people want content this hard.
Needs more nerfs still honestly. Save the increased difficulty for raids. These enemies are much too tough.
Been playing 6 months and currently working on my 3rd legendary. They are not that hard, you just have to find a way to work towards getting the materials that works for you. There is no escape from it being very costly, you will for instance have to buy the precursor off the TP unless you get crazy lucky. But don’t count on that. Just work toward crafting it at your own pace and eventually you will get there. Don’t give up & have fun.
It is an old bug, it is going for more than an year and half.
I think this is one of the latest thread about it:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Theres-definately-a-movement-bug/first
Oh didn’t know it happens with other classes as well and it’s kind of an old bug. I have 1 of every class and have only noticed this on my guardian; and with that guardian the other day mentioning it, I thought it was class specific. But perhaps not.
Basically my guardian gets stuck in place and can’t move as if he’s being immobilized. The effect is the same but there is no debuff icon and I am definitely not being immobilized by an enemy. This happens when I’m in the ‘in combat’ state and then try to dodge backwards.
I’ve noticed this most often happens during the Taidha event. I will place a powder keg by the gate and then dodge roll backwards. Usually the dodge doesn’t complete all the way to the end, I will just stand there stuck in place.
To become unstuck I just do a weapon swap once or twice and that breaks me out of the immobilize. I run staff/greatsword if that matters in trying to recreate the bug.
So far this has happened a little over half a dozen times since I’ve created my guardian. Most as I said was at Taidha event, but it’s happened in pve combat as well.
Not too big an issue for me, but I was in party with another guardian the other day and it happened to him; and he said it happens infrequently with his character. So I thought I should report this in case others are experiencing the issue and a dev has time to look into it.
Yeah, just south of the Priory armorsmith. Permanent Mordrem researcher.
Also: hang on to the Blooms/leftovers as the general feel I get is that this weekend won’t be the only invasion event.
True, they could use blooms as a currency again. So don’t waste them or delete them if you can’t get what you want now.
’Don’t hate the player, hate the game.’ fits perfectly well here. This event was poorly thought out; pretty much everyone agrees, even Anet agrees they messed up here. But there’s no reason to be salty because others decided to work hard within this system to get what they wanted. And trust me it was HARD work, it’s a lot of pressure to tag-n-run 20 events in half an hour.
I feel bad that not everyone can come in first place; but that doesn’t mean I should drop out of the race. You can be proud you helped up the fallen runners, but don’t pretend that you don’t also want the gold medal. But don’t blame the other racers that you didn’t get it, blame the race coordinators who placed traps all over the track.
