I approve of the kite message as I’d like a kite. However I do like the other item as well but there is a larger issue with it. The issue of it just taking up more stinking bank space! Much like all the other items I get and want to keep but the storage system in this game is atrocious for one that claims to be all about customizing your character. Not to mention how they are just now talking about giving us more bank tabs long after gem prices are much much much higher it reeks of letting customers just live with it while you wait to make more cash later when peeps need the space and don’t have the time to grind CoF 1 to death for 600+ gems.
Anyways… this item would have been much nicer as something in the home instance. Either as an item I could place and take off the shelf at any time to show others or just an item that is placed somewhere in all my homes as a decoration to click. This should have also been done with that cut scene book from dragon bash or at the least put into the living story tab to view later. So it doesn’t take up even more BANK SPACE! =/
The sprint will indeed end when all racers have made it up to the finish area. It periodically checks to see if anyone is still racing and if not, it will end early.
This is what I thought as it has always ended like that for me in my games with others.
Hey guys,
So we’ve been investigating this issue and we feel that Adnul is being a little too mean. We will have a change in soon that should make him give players a bit more breathing room while still maintaining the difficulty to a degree.
Thank you all for the feedback and apologies for any frustration this has been causing you.
I went back against him and a few others such as Miss “woo woo woo” just for kicks on a few of my alts trying to just get them the abilities for later. Sadly I found the fix to be almost unnoticeable from one match to another on him or miss “woo woo woo”.
So I shall chock this up the same as the -no no no no no no- and -my own flesh! my own flesh! my own flesh! fix. I already have the stuff on 5 of my characters so not a huge deal I guess but I do not feel it’s worth it with how much of a pure luck factor these guys are to go back and get it on all my characters like I’d want.
Why is it every time someone tries to advocate something aesthetic they always post on unimaginative boring scantly clad human/norn characters. I mean come on people there are much better poses to strike to push an idea for this tonic or show it off.
Everyone out there can’t be that bland when it comes to dressing up their characters to look cool.
Anyone have one open by any chance?

Ehmry Bay is currently open and hasn’t been open that long yet.
It’s a crock of bull to me. The solution is clear even with proxy’s and such. They just do not want to do it because it’s a hassle, would cost them money, whatever BS excuse you want to toss up for them.
Banning legitimate players based on their host nation is a ‘BS excuse.’
Let me say it outright then. How many from China do you really think in the US are legitimate players? Throw out a number high enough to matter and we can talk but the simple truth is the number so small it’s not even noteworthy. It is just a vast majority of bots and we all know it. Those few games I was apart of that just banned China? The community only got better across the board without the massive reduction in bots.
Also how is fair that we get banned in the EU and from NA to SA on pretty much all other nations servers across the board. Yet me presenting a very real solution to the problem that has been proven to work so bad or unfair? Especially when we all know they will eventually get their own server as they nearly always do. So they can play the game there without issue anyways.
It really sounds like to me you are more worried about political correctness then actually doing something about the issue. Probably one of the actual reasons sadly it never gets done over here very often. Even though it would be better for the majority of people who PAID for the service. This isn’t a rights issue or anything big. It’s a paid service in a service industry and what I have said isn’t a bad thing in that context at all.
Nerfing events realty means closing loop holes that ppl explode as a means to get lots of items and gold at a faster rate then other players there by making that event chance unusable by any other player? You know the game GW2 is not Loot wars 2 and if your spending all your time playing to just get more items i think its time for you put the game down for a time. GW2 is not your stander mmorpg item grab game you could make a game full of pinatas where you run though hitting them and they give you items to hit these pinatas faster and more likely to get better items but that would be VERY boring.
You know, if you actually tried it, no one is stopping you from completing the event. Sure, you’ll be looked on disapprovingly, but the wall was right there for you to destroy if you wanted to.
Ya…. you do that with any hope of having friends and not getting kicked from your guild. I did farm it but every one who was knew for sure it was going to get nerfed.
It was the same way with the spark camp they simply just make the sparks charges up the event thing once you killed one. The nice thing that we can get from all of this is that they knew we where farming it and it was ok when you had player who where not botting but once we had a large number of bots show up to these events they where pulled back.
As a community we must not let the bots take the places of ligament players if a person uses a bot even the simple ones then well that person is to blame for this. At this camp mainly the idea is to pull back as a group to see who is botting because the bots do not pull back with you and the mobs will still spawn at the high level and numbers due to the numbers of players.
I think we all know where a majority of those bots are coming from and I’ve been apart of a few games that -banned- everything from that place on EU, NA, etc servers. You know what happened? Bots became few and far between. Yes, they still existed but the number was so much smaller it really meant jack all.
That is the true end all solution but any company with a branch in the NA refuses to do it. While other countries such as with FF Online, Ragnarok, any little MMO you can think of our IP’s are banned from DAY ONE on their servers. Some like Ragnarok even if you made it you were treated worse then dirt on their servers to the point it made goon harassment look polite and banned within a day.
It’s a crock of bull to me. The solution is clear even with proxy’s and such. They just do not want to do it because it’s a hassle, would cost them money, whatever BS excuse you want to toss up for them. Ban that place off EU and NA servers! Be done with it and let us play our games without you adjusting our fun to their bleck natures already. Stop the blanket bans and just block them all.
Hey folks,
Thanks for liking the whip I created (well, as much as a single designer creates anything that is). Currently the whip is not an item players can use. Thieves can steal a tentacle whip off of some creatures, but I don’t think it is something players can use.
I’ll try to keep in mind that there is interest in that weapon, and see if there’s not people I can talk to about adding more permanent solutions.
I hope it is seriously considered! I’ve talked about several weapons I’d love to see even if only two classes could use them and whip was on that list along with a two-handed battle axe. A great many games overlook the whip as a weapon but others such as Castlevania have proven there is an interest for it in gaming. The whip would be a really different kinda weapon to use with all kinds of possibilities for pulls, throwing elements, and crowd controlling mobs.
Glad to see it is being looked into.
I dislike RNG, i dislike the chests/keys mechanic and never bought them – but lets be clear.
1) Majority of things in the chests can be acquired another way – if you want them, you can.
2) You can buy chests without paying any real money, by exchanging gold.
3) Arenanet probably does not care about YOU not buying chests or any normal players. Seeing as they still add MORE chests, this mechanic seems to be profitable, and i for one know there are many rich players that while you dont buy a single one – would buy hundreds, just because its convenient: people are different. And you cant it Pay2Win wither – because you know yourself how little the chances to “win” are and how big is the “pay” part.TLDR:
Just ignore the chests. Accept that if you dont like this mechanic, maybe its not designed for YOU. They bring profit to Anet and thats why they are there. Tweaking them for you to like them and possible buy one, would not necessary mean higher profits for them.
Except your excuse for not buying them is FLAWED as I already covered it. Where do you think those gems you are getting for gold come from? Are you really to dense to grasp it all on your own? Those gems come from people buying them and then exchanging them for gold! So even if you do use gold to get gems for such an item you are still supporting cash for bad RNG. The only real difference is you took a different route to do it.
1) Most of the chests in the game till now only had ONE way to get them. Even now when another way has been offered the rates are so bad you’d be better off farming CoF then exchanging gold for gems then farming the karka for it.
2)See opening paragraph.
3)They will care when ENOUGH PEOPLE stop exchanging gold for them, leave the game in annoyance, and stop spending cash on them. It’s people like you that keep companies doing what they do because you just roll over to take it and encourage others to do the same. You are part of the problem.
TLDR; The foolish words of the latest generation who’s attention span is that of a fly.
I wanted some of the fused skins but after Halloween I refused to touch any of this stuff. It really irked me during Christmas when the only way to get the COOLEST QUAGGAN MINI EVER I had to gamble. I couldn’t just buy it like the Halloween mini’s… nope! Then fused came and now this. Refuse to buy any of it and I make sure anyone I know is talked out of it. Already talked 5 friends out of even trying because it needs to be boycotted so we can get some real options.
Oh.. and to all those debating with those in support of this for the reason that the company needs to make money. Just stop talking to them because anyone that tries to sugar coat something like is already a lost cause. They are apart of the generation that believes corporations can do no wrong and were raised by corporations to think that. That person is a sheeple.

When a bad call is made you voice your opinion in a polite way and then speak with your dollar. The sheeple have long been to brainwashed into fanboys and other such things to get this concept.

I won’t even trade gold for gems for even one stinking chest because those gems came from a player that did pay money for them. So even that is contributing to the problem. Not one of these chests will ever cross my hands unless it is a random drop. However I won’t farm for them because the rate is so low you’d still be better off going to CoF and trading gold for gems. Which once again.. part of the problem.
Just greens but someone did get an exotic once from it while I was there and linked it.
I got an awesome group that agreed to help everyone there get it. Which was pretty cool! Sadly only 3 got it before some CoD type tween came in and started talking about about it’s a competitive environment type crap.
Paid tournaments are competitive, elo rated matches are competitive, cash prize tournaments where you get sponsors are competitive. A CRAB GAME that is LIMITED in a random MMORPG isn’t competitive. That is like going to a little league and telling your child it’s a no holds cage deathmatch to win.
This is here for -fun- not your e-garbage.
The female Charr have nothing under that loincloth on the beach and if you jump down it does flap a little. First time there and I got disturbed.
I figured this was going to be like oddball from Halo or something of that sort but instead it’s just a giant headache.
-It’s so laggy it is almost unplayable. Skills fall short and people rubber band everywhere.
-Even when not lagging sometimes the dash will work and sometimes it will outright fail. This goes for any of the skills and often causes someone to get away scott free a ton.
-Even if you say the veteran karka can’t hit you when you are down Anet peeps? You are missing the point the fact is like every other spam knockdown you peeps keep putting in this game so much it is starting to actually get under my skin. You can get hit again as you are going through your really really long get the heck back up animation. So the veteran karka will roll you each time at that moment keeping you lockdown for two or three times.
-Items such as the trap expire to quickly or go off when someone isn’t even close enough to be effected but just in the general area. Voiding the whole purpose of the item in the first place.
All that and everyone in there plays like the days of ol Halo oddball chasing the crab owner in a straight line of stupidity.
If you’d just stinking let people beta test some of this stuff like many other games have even WoW which I loathe. Who grabbed top peeps like death and taxes so they could poke around with the content. Those peeps will find bugs you didn’t think about and you need to tap them. Stop being so stubborn about it and putting stuff in that is bugged often for a whole week or more of an event when it can be prevented quite easy.
What you really need to complain about is how this quote -pvp- event which is about as far from real pvp as you can get is just a keg brawl reskin. There is only two differences mobs can attack you and no goals. Everything else is pretty much the exact same with tossing it ahead, the dashing, etc.
The crab toss is buggy as hell as well. The lag is insane, dodge or dash only works part of the time at best to save your crab, half the items do not even go off when the person walks into the area that it is supposed to effect them, most of the skills are bugged and will work for grabbing the crab only sometimes. All that on top of the fact people like it like oddball from Halo and just follow the person with the crab like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off and tossed into the lost forest of doom.
The whole thing is just gag worthy.
I like that this is coming into the game and I hope it works out. Truthfully though I find the keg brawl to be very buggy and often unbalanced. So the experience often leaves me never wanting to do it again for weeks and I feel it needs attention.
Also I’d love it if these mini-games offered unique purely silly skins as well. Such as say the keg brawl letting you say keg tickets or something that would let you buy a type of keg back piece skin or even a joke keg underwater breather with a hose feeding the ale directly to you under the water. Nothing serious just fun silly side stuff for people to work toward would be cool. You’d see more people playing this way as well!
Could even make the achievements in it give you something for it. o:
Gotta love the RNG dyes that go with this as well. Now already at 50g and I am not even close to having all of them let alone multiple characters out of STINKING 8!
Actually.. being forced to live in a stale world that never changes it’s entire lifespan of 5+ or more MMORPG years or needs a major expansion to see any change that is still kinda… eh.. leaving most of the world the exact same is bad. I’ve played far to many MMORPG’s were older sections became relics all the way back to EQ with Kunark and WoW with the Burning Crusade section where nobody wanted to do it. They were even bitter about having to do this out dated and unfun content with bad gear stats for the new styles.

This is a positive thing and I’m happy for it but I do hope to see less one offs like the Karka event even though it was really cool. The lag, loads of karka killing due to scaling, and being booted never to get back in to see it on your own server was just.. ya… That part sucked and they need to let your character stay there for 5 minutes to give a shot to get back in not just boot you asap.
Anyways…. a living ever changing world is a very fun thing and I look forward to it.
Sorry! But with the anime eyes and now the whole -pickheart- bit which was only missing a prince charming or animals showing up as she sings really bad Disney corniness. The more this character goes on the more I wish a demon dog would eat Rox’s eyes. So at least one bad trait would be gone and she’d look more kitten that way anyways and we could get back on track to her being a kitten trying to join Rytlock not a cuddly anime charming disney cuteness.
Never going to like her as is period and if you ever give me an option to kill her in personal story it will happen.
Says the charr with the neon purple mohawk.
I’m a player character out to have fun and my colors have been changed to make it work. Either way I am not a major story npc and Braham has deep red hair so these colors can work when done right. Once again though I’m not a major story npc trying to join the warband of the stinking blood legion who is a kitten.
Disney anime princess and kitten do not mix.
The real answer no matter what the real rate is for the item is that is to low for a limited time item based off of RNG. There are multiple reasons for this and all of them reek.
A: Many players do not get to spam the dungeon and have a limited amount of time to try at all for said item.
B: Yes, they can buy it for gold but due to the rate being so low the market is cornered by the top 1% player base of the game. Who purchase mass amounts of the time item to sell later and keep the price of it high. (The kinda players that hoard money till they get to max and will never spend it all or even come close. They will quit the game years later with max cash left to rot.)
C: Leaves the players feeling annoyed and letdown. These players often leave for a few weeks or play less for awhile due to this annoyance with the game. This also effects their desire to give the game any money in appreciation of an event even if the overall design was good.
D: Limits the customization that many players desire for multiple characters and forces them to at most get just one of a said item. Sometimes they use it on the wrong character and it invokes disappointed sadness, etc. Causes the same issues noted above.
There really is no reason for the rate to be so low. The event is a one of a time thing and down the road even months? Many peeps will have swapped for other items, deleted it, deleted it by accident, and more. So you will see less of any given item due to such things down the road. The rate should have at least been high enough to mess up the control the 1% economy hoarders have.
You get an inkling of their characters in Flame and Frost, just due to the nature of what is going on—they are focused on getting to the bottom of things and disrupting the Molten Alliance.
For more lore background on these two characters you can take a look at the following:
- TowerTalk Lore Special: http://wartower.tumblr.com/post/49691195928/in-this-lorespecial-episode (starts in German, but the podcast is fully in English. Angel McCoy and Scott McGough talk about Flame and Frost and give insights into the characters of Braham and Rox.)

At least it’s sellable. I don’t see people complaining that certain expensive items don’t drop. Things like Commander’s Compendium, Icy Runestones, T3 Cultural etc.
You don’t even have a chance to get these items for free by random chance. You have to buy them. Sure they’re a flat rate, but the people in this thread know they want a jetpack and right now it’s about the same price as these items.
You have 2 weeks to try to get one with RNG, if you don’t get it you have the option to buy.
lol
you cant compare this in any way to Tier3 Armor / icy runestones /commander tag
because we know that these things can always be bought and always have the same price
but the backpack may rise to several hundred golds if it can not be found ever again after this dungeon…You can buy the jetpack right now for a similar price to all those other items. Even when the price goes up, it’s still something to work for. People in this thread are saying there is no progression toward getting the jetpack, but there is, it’s sellable.
Sure people down who haven’t started the game yet may not have a chance to get this item in the future. But everyone in this thread can get it.
180g is not similar to other ones… :/
This is due to the bit I mentioned in an earlier post dealing with the 1% that control the market of very low drop rate items. They ruin the market so they can hoard gold they will never fully ever spend.
It is bugged at the moment sadly. Hopefully they get it fixed in time or remove the requirement since so many people are having issues with it.
One they blond Rox like Kormir but she still manages to join the warband of Rytlock due to learning to see with her hearing. I will desire to follow the story of Rox. Till they she is just anime kitty.

If you purchase a skin such as Rox’s shortbow it is indeed one time use and you will have to get multiple for different characters. Also if you use it for pvp and want it for pve on the same character you will need more then one as well.
Kinda crappy like that.
Not a fan of the limited dye thing since it was based around RNG garbage. Not to mention how the market for any item worth a penny is controlled by the top 1% jerks as usual who hoard huge stacks of money for the sake of just having it. They never spend it just squat on it till they leave the game. Same ol BS screwing over the normal players as they even control the gem rates with all this.
I knew quite a few peeps that quit WoW with max gold and never even came close to ever spending a piece of it and that is just sad.
So much for ever collection every dye on a single character let alone multiple with so much limited time RNG bs.
I’m annoyed personally that I only get ONE armored type of the bloody things. One would figure with 5 free slots and most peeps have 6 or 7 at least you speak with not to mention all the 10 slot peeps. They’d want to give people 3 or more with one of each type so they’d have some bloody options. Really stinking annoying they did this one character only BS.
I’d settle to at the least to have the style armor that isn’t even used in combat male or female options for the Charr and Asura. The Khaki shorts and such look so HORRID on a Charr and a majority of my characters are female Charr.
Hello,
I’d just like to ask one very small quick and simple favor. Can you please stop making all the female Charr and maybe Asura wear human style female clothing for the style tab or give us the option to wear the male stuff.
You designed these races around not caring about gender differences and so thus all the armor reflects that and so does the style sense. The short short well khaki shorts look terrible on a Charr and so does the female designs with large V-necks for cleavage that doesn’t exist. So thus the style items being sold look really bad on female Charr.
Why not have the option to wear either or in the first place? Even Archie comics which is so full of gender stereotypes it’s bad admitted Betty looked good in a suit. Come on GW2 you are more modern then them. Let Charr and Asura have the option so we can look styling instead of someone who is a fashion disaster.
Thanks in advance,
Korkor
Some fun ideas in here, we’re also actively discussing ways on how we’d best like to alleviate having to make players choose between having better stats, or using magic find. It’s not a choice that’s great for game play and there isn’t really anything that fun about it, even more so when group composition is taken into account. Ideally we’d also like to keep the ability to slowly build your magic find over time, but doing this at the cost of using better stats isn’t the right way to do that.
No ETA on any changes here, just want to point out we agree there is an issue here that goes against what we want Gw2 to be, and is something we want to address.
Here’s an idea. Remove MF from the game and increase drop rates a bit. There, done. Everyone now has a small MF increase and nobody has to sacrifice anything to get it.
The problem with that approach would be that every thing but one item would drop in price the one item precursor would go up.
The real issue here isn’t the item drop rate but those who manipulate the TP to hoard gold in every MMORPG dating all the way back to EQ or UO. These people are a tiny part of the community but manipulate things so well they make it miserable for a majority of the player base. Unless the drop rates were insane so that everyone got one perfectly every time these people will always control and hoard items/gold.
They are akin to the rich guy in real life who will die with 300mil in the bank. They will never use all that gold and just like all those before them that left games like WoW? The gold will be left to rot there in the game till it is taken offline. Which is very sad for a variety of reasons. These are the gold hoarders or peeps who get a kick out of controlling a market in any game. You can never truly be rid of them sadly and they will always do stuff like buy 34+ jetpacks and hoard them till months down the road to sell at premium. This goes on for these people for every single item worth diddly and event in the game and is the real reason so much stuff gets a high price on the TP.
The gold that will never be spent or used but gave these small amount of players total market control. Enough so that everything even the gem market is based around them and everyone else just gets screwed. Fun isn’t it? They will always justify it as well with real world economics forgetting this is a game and they will move on again after ruining it for others letting everything rot. Same ol cycle.
you should not spread discrimination.
And by the way, even if you ran naked with white weapons CoF path 1 will at most take 15 minutes. All people in MF would probably take 8 minutes. All in berserker – 6. Uuuuh what a big difference! My comment was a hyperbole, but I’d be surprised if you know what that is.
I’d like to see evidence of this 15 minute naked run.
And once again, they’re slowing the group down for selfish reasons by 33%, why should the others accept this?
There are naked runs of dungeons. Someone did AC just to prove that it’s not too hard. CoF is easier than AC. It would not take long.
Because they are helpful in other ways, because they’re helping the group by 67%, because 4 manning the dungeon wouldn’t be faster and because they’re not worse on damaging that vitality/ toughness users.
You’re suggesting something like this "there are 50 people. 20 of them haven a IQ of 120 . 20 of them have an IQ of 110, but have a university degree. 10 of them have an IQ of 60.
You’re allowed to chose those with a bigger IQ. However you’re not allowed to walk to a person with an IQ of 110 and yell “get smarter” at their faces, you’re also not allowed to try to disgrace those people by saying that people with an IQ of 60 should take their place because they’re just less fortunate (rare users), but a person with an IQ of 110 should have forced himself to study an extra subject to get more IQ points and therefore should be discriminated against"
You do not really make any sense but people like you annoy the crap out of me for another reason besides disregard for the facts at hand. The fact people like you try to use videos made by people such as Strife to aid the community in defense of your blatant lack of education on the subject.
The simple fact is people like Strife and in those naked videos spend hours and hours and hours finding the best runes, sigils, stats, and paths to do these things. They crunch the math and die trying over ‘n’ over to things right. Then they share these guides with the masses to either brag a little or aid them. Often it is the case to aid the masses because they are often pretty cool peeps.
There is also one other MAJOR fact to consider. These people go from game to game to do this and are often in the top 1% of gamers for each game. This means often out of thousands or even MILLIONS of people they are a very small group of people in the grand scheme and everyone else like you? Are not! Do you get what this means? This means that trying to use these guides or naked runs as the standard for the level that everyone can play at in the game is really really dumb. Because you and a majority of other people will never be able to play at that level. You are trying to compare a local track star to an Olympic trained runner who has been doing it their whole life and it is moronic. So please stop it.
ahem ok. first of all, if you’d like, i can give you my husband’s info so he can confirm that i am, in deed, completely 100% female. second? i agree, i don’t think i would have stated this request as a demand. but that’s just me. last?
i have, currently, 13 characters that i bounce between. all female. all have their own personalities, likes, dislikes, etc etc etc. some of them like a more formal look, some of them like a more playful look, some of them like a more barbaric look, and some of them just like showing off their pure smexiness. yes, i’m an rper at heart.
the point i’d like to make, quite simply, is that i was overall thoroughly delighted at the availability of SENSIBLE armor selections for those of my females who prefer a more sensible wardrobe. but i’m pretty disappointed, for my characters who like things a little more risque, at the options available. my husband was, if not the first, then one of the very first, to combine the vigil leather legs with the duelist top on his ranger, because he wanted her to be sexy as well as powerful. in order to GET that look you MUST mix and match armor pieces, which means sometimes your dyes don’t quite match up. and so on and so on.
so, tl/dr — love the availability to have fully clothed/armored characters, would be thoroughly delighted with some more options for a little more playful or sexy sets.
Because the word of -anyone- online really means diddly in text right? Anyone can grab an image somewhere or say anything online. That is the nature of the net for better or worse.
Also I find nearly all light armors and many order armors to cater to your type of garbage skimpy stuff. I can’t even take the female Vigil armor seriously as I said as it makes no bloody stinking sense.
Oh.. and it is kinda clear you do not understand what sexy and powerful really is if you think showing skin means that while throwing around a fireball.
Enjoy the ride!
I will actually start to enjoy it when you stop trying to invoke gambling reflex garbage because you are unregulated like a casino is with it. I’d also enjoy it more if you gave me a better way such as MORE BANK TABS so I actually store all these amazing items. How about a way to swap between skins on a single item at the LEAST so all the custom stuff you talk about will be fun instead of pain management as you constantly love something you like to try out something else.
Do not get me wrong I love the content but come on. Work with me.
Still need the gw2lfg website for CoF warrior runs!
I’m going to go out on a limb here and call you a fake female gamer just like every other thread like this that the OP claims this. You know after years and years and years of female gamers trying to voice OTHERWISE. Not to mention how they are so happy to finally get noticed by so many gaming sites citing the problems such as this one within the gaming industry. It is so unlikely that after years of trying for everything else the movement would suddenly do a 180 and people like you would exist in mass.
Even more so when many races like the Norn and Human light armor is just pathetic and skimpy as well. Not to mention how tasteless many of the female order armors are when compared to the males. The Vigil male armor is great but the female armor for a group known for HEAVY IN YOUR FACE COMBAT makes no sense at all. Same really goes for scholars called the Priory. Those who take great pains to research the unknown and are know for shutting out the world TOTALLY WANT PEOPLE TO SEE THEIR HIPS AND MIDRIFF! The only space it is even is with the Whispers as both men and women were bondage garbage.
There is already to much skimpy garbage in this game. It is refreshing to at least have some choices in dungeon gear to get away from this crap for once in a MMORPG.
Oh.. and you could also be a troll as well but whatever.
Open anywhere at the minute?
I agree with this as well. It’s really annoying to lack this very simple sorting option that should have been in the game from the get go. This simple feature would really help newer players and long term players looking to gear up as they level and customize looks.
I didn’t even know this was the cause of so many of my issues… It really kitten es me off at this point to find this out because I use the mouse for camera rotation all the stinking time! Just… rrr…. what a kitten stinking kitten game feature.
Suggestions for increasing skin storage space and promoting collecting of said skins. Thus increasing player play time.
1: Increase the bank tabs in the game one can purchase so that we have more storage space for our unique items. This would go hand in hand with a collectible tab storage increase so you can store 1k dungeon tokens etc.
2: Add in a system like buying extra bag slots except for skins. Start out a weapon with three vacant skin slots or even five that can be slotted with a skin that can be switched to at any time. Then put in the option to buy several more slots for that single weapon so one can rotate skins they love on a single stat type weapon.
You can even take it a step further by adding an item in the game that can remove a skin from a weapon to use on another. This could be a very low priced gem store item and one that drops in the world a little bit more often then say keys.
3: A PvE storage closet just like with PvP. Let me store the skins in a PvE closet so they are not taking up my bank space and can be used at a later date. This can even be boosted by using it in conjunction with the number 2 on the list system. Encouraging players to try to get skins from all across the world so they can be stored for use at a later date. Thus helping you keep players playing the game more often.
4: Not dealing with storage but you could boost this system even further by making it so that when in my home instance there is a mannequin that fits my race in my home area in the game. One where I can swap between the skins I have for armor and weapons. See what they’d look like in front of me but also have another function. I could save set looks on these to be used later. So all I’d have to do is visit and all my gear would be swapped to X look. That or they could just be something for me to show off to others when I invite them into my home instance as you improve upon it.
I mean for a game that is supposed to promote customization the current systems in the game feel like a vice. They squeeze me hard and limit my options. They penalize me for wanting to collect different looks that I can show off to others and have fun with.
I like this discussion and agree with much of what has been said by Josh and others in support of keeping the skins rare.
However I do have a single request Josh and it is a rather large one. When are you going to bloody give me a system to store my bloody skins already like in PvP? I mean there are several ways you could do it!

You were not unclear Blade people just assumed you are an idiot and asking a dumb question. Instead of thinking you had a brain and answering your question. Which is one I’d like answered as well.
Sounds like they’ve designed a really kittenty harvesting system in the game and are charging you 800 gems to make it on par (for one character only) to the system WoW has used for over eight years now.
Because the WoW system of everyone going after the same exact nodes all the time was SO MUCH FUN. Gosh I loved the bots that ported around underground taking everything or fighting a mob while a super jerk stole it. Yep! WoW’s system was totally great!
Go to your room!
I think the reason people complain about the mining pick really is the fact it is soulbound on use! I know that is my only complaint and I’d have paid an extra 200 gems to get rid of that and just keep it as account bound at all bloody times. I have 8 characters I love to play and asking me to spend this much gold/money for each one is annoying.
Yes, we get it the people who play the TP as in EVERY MMORPG TO DATE and people who spam something like CoF are loaded. You know what we stinking got that kinda stuff back in EQ. I’m sick of games catering to those kittens even when I was one of them. I do not want it to cater to the WoW casual but I’d give up the gold to gem system just so stuff like this would be account bound over stinking soulbound on use. I’d also give it up so we see less gambling garbage that idiots blow all their gold on designed to drain peoples gold and more just straight up selling me the bloody stinking unique dyes I want. Once stinking again 8 characters and more then one that would love to fool around with this colors Anet.
-.-
I agree with this! Course I’d also like peeps to have to do it normally for the jumping puzzle title and not get it through the super easy rainbow mode. Kinda doesn’t make sense to have a jumping puzzle title when you skipped the jumping part for well the most part.
It’s 1 in 50.
That depresses me greatly but really isn’t that surprising. I’ve run your SaB with all 8 of my characters from start to finish since the day it came out and only gotten a single skin to drop. It was the greatsword skin and I sold it instead of saving it for down the road like an idiot. Oh.. and to all the other peeps? I didn’t make a single new alt to keep spamming it either! Just the once through each day since it came out per character.
Guess you really want people to earn the skin sorta speak.
Just give a generation credit when credit is due and stop trying to act like the current generation is the only thing to spawn pop culture because it’s not! The groundwork for much of gaming today or just pop culture in general was laid a long time ago. We are reaping the benefits of that work today.
rofl I’m myself 37. You act like you personally invented those games lol. What I talk about is inspiration not copying one thing from another. If you look at the clothes stores nowadays you will find tons of 80ies inspired clothes. There are trends and other games like minecraft provide a way for styles to be appreciated by an audience. I never denied that old 8 bit games were a source. You must be really afraid that some credit of your oh so awesome childhood playing experience is taken away.
Inspiration is a mixture of loads of things.
Yes, a 37 year old man still using terms like “rofl” and with really bad grammar. Congratulations! You kinda implied you didn’t understand why these people were acting the way they were. Then you implied stuff like SaB could have only existed thanks to Minecraft’s popularity. I think it was quite clear what you were trying to say.
I offered up a good rebuttal not just directed at you but the idea Minecraft was the main source behind the SaB. Even after he said in the video released what inspired him to make the SaB the way he did. This same rebuttal could be used on many things such as the angry chickens in Ebonhawke and how people think it was due to Angry Birds. Except in that case it would be ignorance but not ignorance implying someone is a fool but instead ignorance as in lack of knowledge. Now if they do not care to ever learn what was it was referencing or refuse to believe it once a solid claim was made. Then it is foolish ignorance.
I think you are just unhappy a detailed rebuttal was made against your point.
I love the SaB and all the fun little things it has done. Such as proving that you actually put a super niche mini-game into a major MMORPG title that doesn’t have to SUCK and can be more or less stand alone. I could go on for hours how cool the SaB is but I’m really here for a small comment.
I’m not sure it should go year round. I think that part of what made the SaB super cool is that it is a once in awhile thing. It is hear now and we get to run it to death before new stuff is added later. Then at that time we will get it for a little while again. This will help keep it fresh and new while giving them more time to add content into the SaB without the audience burning out off the SaB.
This will also open other doors for new skins and such during other holidays within the SaB. Like maybe 8-bit Halloween skins alongside the normal ones with a quarky themed 8-bit Halloween JP as a new side item. It could even be incorporated with Tixx giving out mini-SaB pets on a leash you carry around as a silly joke. There is a ton of small side stuff that can be done with the SaB but only if it is turned on maybe every other month or less.
Course I’d understand if it became a permanent item with it’s own living story as well. Such as the Charr maybe getting one and the crazy adventures that will happen in the children’s fahar wargames. Even the consortium maybe trying to steal or actually stealing the SaB and you have to go get it back before it does harm in their hands. There are lots of things that can be done with a permanent box as well.
So really I am torn on if it would be a good thing or not to keep it all year round.
Why is everyone so much biased that minecraft must not be a source of inspiration. Honestly, yeah old 8-bit games may have been the main inspiration, but without the popularity of minecraft they maybe would not have come to the idea to implement it here. And do you think that the only source of minecraft is old 8-bit games. For me all that stuff reminds me more to LEGO.
Imo inspiration and influence are usually not such straight forward things that someone can claim that something is the one and only source. (Does not go for the vampire novels ofc.)
This right here is either arrogance of wanting ones generation to be the highlight and not a previous one or extreme ignorance. I am unsure which it is at this time but we’ll get back to it. (The idea people in all these threads keep putting forward as Minecraft as the source not you.)
Are you seriously trying to imply that without Minecraft that the SaB could have never existed? Really? Because I was fairly certain that Nes, Snes, Sega Masters, Neo Geo, Sega Genesis, and games that pioneered this style of 3D platforming such as Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64 were the inspiration for the SaB and the reasons behind it’s creation.
You see the creator of the SaB and his crew grew up with the above and designed it to poke fun at the above and appeal to others that had played the above. Which is now people in the age group of somewhere between 24-30 that played them all as kids with the small exception of Super Mario 64 due to it’s much later release date with the N64. They referenced what they grew up with as the source for the SaB and designed it off concepts these games created. Not Minecraft! Even the fake commercial was based off the mid 80’s through very early 90’s stuff not even reaching mid 90’s.
There has been several other games that have brought back older styles before Minecraft as well such as Megaman 9 and other updated versions of older games over the years with more modern graphics. If anything Minecraft was inspired by these older games and the resurgence of older titles along with newer sandbox games to get a slice of that pie in a new way.
Minecraft is a sandbox game that is based purely around what the user wants to do with the current set of mods applied to the game. The action platforming is more of a side thing with Minecraft an afterthought to keep you on your toes but not the focus of the game. The focus is a sandbox creative world in an 8-Bit style because that was his budget and what he wanted to do. It does not contain the same style of action platforming the SaB has or even many other titles such as Super Metroid had.
People are annoyed about the claims it is based off Minecraft because it is ignorant to say that. It is trying to take credit away from it’s designers and their childhood titles. While giving it to a title that had nothing at all to do with the SaB. Especially with the video of the team lead speaking about what inspired him to do it with his -TINY- team that was given permission to do what they wanted. There was no huge big name Ncsoft or Anet CEO in a booming voice demanding that an MMORPG with moderm graphics cater to the Minecraft audience to bring people into the game. Which is probably a nice bit smaller then those that grew up playing these other games that sold buttloads more then Minecraft could ever hope to do some alone and they eclipse it when added together.
Just give a generation credit when credit is due and stop trying to act like the current generation is the only thing to spawn pop culture because it’s not! The groundwork for much of gaming today or just pop culture in general was laid a long time ago. We are reaping the benefits of that work today.
