Hey guys,

I met up with Irenio, who was heading into my area of the building to talk to me about this very bug. As it turns out, it’s quite a complicated issue and that’s why it took a while to address. But… it has been addressed, yaaay! The fix for this issue should be going out very soon, perhaps before the end of the week.

Naturally, for something this complicated, there are a lot of “layers to the onion” in getting it resolved, but it is very much in the devs’ minds, and help is on the way for our beloved, but lazy-seeming, pets!

Figured it was a tricky problem if it was taking this long. Good to hear you guys are able to throw out a fix soon though. Good work!

Why do a lot of you keep staring at old passieve SoR instead of looking what kind of alternatives there are now? It’s like SoR was the only cleanse ranger had? While we had a ton of other cleanses and now we have even more. We have a 1000 options via other skills and traits to cleanse ourselves which are a million times better than old SoR, that 1 condi-clear every 10 secs. Really guys? Falling over that? I’m tempted to give 100 gold for the first person that can name 3 types of condi clears pre-patch we already had, and three new ones. Then we can all hold hands and sing a happy song!

People have the bad habit to tunnel vision on one thing they consider a bad change and blow it way out of proportion, like the class is now destroyed because of it.

Personally, I LOVE that we’re using a ton of fury and ferocity, very cool thematic

Oh, I totally agree. Was trying it out this morning and was loving it. Gonna have to fine tune my gear a bit to get it to 100% crit chance with fury though. This is neat!

I wouldn’t find it unlikely that ranger would get some of their skills reworked to hold charges. Like mentioned, there’s some obvious candidates where it would fit in. In my opinion, they’re likely to be added to skills that are currently a bit lack luster.

Can you play Rev if you only buy PoF?

From what I understand, if you own either of the expansions (and likely any future expansions), it will allow to play Rev. If you own PoF but not HoT, you can play Rev. Rev is tied to the expansions, but not HoT specifically. Obviously elite specs that come with an expansion are tied to that expac, so if you only own PoF, you won’t be able to get the Herald elite spec.

We have laziest devs in all mmo market when it comes to customization, so no, not gonna happen.

My impression isn’t that they’re lazy at all, but it feels very much that they’re tied to a certain budget (no doubt set by ncsoft), so it’s likely more a matter of limited resources and for them to figure out how to best allocate those resources to get the most out of them. Sp you’ll sometimes see recycled skeleton animations on new skills and things like that. In return you’ll be getting a set of mounts, each with their own, unique animations. This isn’t Blizzard, who can fund their projects with big budgets that cover all aspects easily and allow for mistakes or even complete revamps of projects (see Project Titan, which became Overwatch).

[EU] Returning Players LF Social Casual Guild

So, with the upcoming expansion, and looking for a change of pace from the frustrations the MOBA genre was giving my girlfriend and I, we are now returning to Guild Wars 2 and are looking for a smaller-sized casual social guild with mature (i.e. 18+) people we can chat and fool around with as we play the game at our own pace.

A little info about us:

I played GW2 since beta actively and only left the game about four to six months after the release of HoT. I’m a laid-back guy who likes to joke around occasionally and is always up for some fun and willing to lend a hand when possible. I used to focus on PvP mostly, but am taking it easy now and enjoying the living story and other content I’ve missed in the time I’ve been away.

The lady in my life isn’t as experienced at the game (yet), but she’s currently doing her best leveling her thief to 80. She’s a caring and intelligent girl that can get along with many people. She’s currently quite baffled by how friendly and helpful players are in this game, compared to the ones in other online games she’s played, like World of Warcraft and Heroes of the Storm.

And like Shadelang said, without Druid the Ranger profession is not even mid-tier in terms of viability. Without Druid it would probably be in as bad a place as Thief and Warrior supposedly are right now.

before f2p its a p2play game and so if they want to make it buyable for free player they should charge a high amount of gold to purchase a single elite spec of 800gold

Yeah, the obvious problem you’re having is that you’re a clicker and clicking is and will always be slower and more problematic than using keybinds, because it takes more time moving your mouse around like that to click everything one by one. It also means that while you’re clicking away you can’t turn your camera, as well as likely fact that you’re looking at where your mouse cursor is to make sure you’re clicking skills correctly, instead of where the enemy is or what they’re doing. The best solution here is to simply learn how to work with keybinds and refrain from ever clicking skills again.

A Few Problems with Rev

In pvp the problem is simple 1 rev can use jade winds and stun the entire other team for around 30 to 40 percent of the time, and insult to injury be recharging it’s energy while the other team is stunned.

Only in a perfect universe where all the stars have aligned will something like that happen. The chances of a rev catching the whole enmy team with JW and none of them having stunbreakers off cd, managing to dodge/evade/invul through it, stun or blind you during the casttime is astronomical small. If it were to happen, I’d have to say that the enemy team is wholly incompetent.

Hammer skills bug?

It’s not just the auto attack. The #2 can also be buggy if there’s even a slight bump in the terrain. Had it several times in the last few days while running around through the new maps where it would just not hit mobs because there was a slight difference in terrain height or a small bump in the road between them and myself.

Druid right now is but a ghost of what it was in BWE3. Right now you’re better off playing either the base profession or some other profession. I’ve started playing Revenant in the meantime and will be checking back in on Ranger and Druid if or when they make some improvements.

Why don’t ranger pets have a very low hit rate. Things that won’t ever be answered because Ranger.

Because pets work on the same bad AI system as all other NPC’s in the game, which is that they can’t cast attacks while moving. It’s one of the biggest flaws of the system, along with the horrible pathfinding.

The way targetted channel skills like RF work is that they keep tracking the initial target, even if that target goes into stealth after the channeling of the skill has started. Not sure how it will act in action cam mode, but in the default/current mode it has been confirmed back in like 2013 that this is working as intended.

Why can ranger use F skills in Downed?

It’s to make up for the fact that rangers are the only class that can have their profession mechanic shut down for 60 seconds by an opposing player.

Mesmer Class mechanics can be shut down with AoEs, Warrior/Teef class mechanic can be shut down with dodge/(interrupts) etc.

Ranger Class mechanic can be shut down with 15-30 k damage that the player doesn’t eat. Higher cd sounds fair to me

Cmon, all the strong classes now cleave like hell and use lots of AOE/ fields.

What do you mean 15~30k pet eats? Are you playing PVE or something?
Pet doesn’t protect you at all in PVP, and just passively getting killed by all the random conditions and AOE due to atrocious pathing / AI, inability to dodge, and inability to cleanse/ mitigate damage?

Yeah, it’s such a pain. If I bring a bird into PvP, even with full BM, one ring random ring of fire from a cele ele eats away a big chunk of its health in mere moments. In team fights it’s even bigger nightmare because all of the random AoE and cleave going around these days.

Wait, you only raised it from 0.25% to 0.5% for charging Astral Force?? LOL! I see that’s why you said 200% instead of the 0.5% that it is now. Gotta PR it right!

I think it’s changed to 0.75%. It’s been increased by 200%, implying another 200% (0.5%) is added on top of the existing 100% (0.25%). It would make it about half the amount you’d get from the nerfed healing amount, which is going down to 1.5% with the announced 40% decrease.

  • Grace of the Land: This trait has been re-worked. Instead of its former behavior, allies affected by your celestial avatar abilities gain 3% damage and condition damage increase for 8 seconds. This buff stacks 5 times.

That will be something for raids. Grace of the Land, Frost Spirit, and Glyph of Empowerment combined should boost the damage of our allies more than enough to make up for the loss you have by bringing 1 or 2 Druid healers.

  • Lingering Light: This trait has been re-worked. Instead of its former behavior, when you heal an ally their next outgoing attack will heal them (based upon your healing) and blind their target.

Aw, I liked how it worked before, since it was great for helping charge up CA in melee range of brawls and big fights.

  • Glyph of Unity: This skill now has a 400 initial effect radius and a 600 radius leash.

Good stuff. Leash radius might need a small bump still, but we’ll see how it goes with this on the 23rd first.

  • Glyph of Empowerment: The radius for this skill has been increased to 600.

Same as the above.

  • Glyph of Alignment: Increased the weakness and cripple duration on this skill from 3s to 5s. Reduced the cast damage by 66%. This skill now applies 3 stacks of poison.

Not sure why the damage was nerfed. Wasn’t really that great, was it?

  • Ancestral Grace: Is now an evade and will immediately end upon reaching your destination.

One of the most asked for changes. Thanks for getting us this. Only made sense considering how ranger has at least one evade skill on the majority of its weapons and this will help us get to allies for healing securely and/or out of trouble when it comes looking for us.

  • Celestial Avatar Form: Entering this form now has a 10s CD. Charging of Astral force by healing has been reduced by 40%. Charging of Astral force by outgoing strikes has been increased by 200%. You now retain half your current astral force if you decide to break form early.

Uhm, okay? This is certainly going to bump the difficulty level of Druid a lot, especially for raids and whatnot.

  • Celestial Avatar Form: Skills that heal have had their base heals reduced by 15-25% and increased their healing coefficients from 100-145%. This should leave base heals solid while really rewarding players who elect to use healing power stats.

Will have to see how that goes. Certainly sounds a lot better than a scaling coefficient of 0.5 or less. Hope it’s still viable with celestial gear/amulet.

  • (Celestial Avatar) Lunar Impact: Reduced the daze on this skill from 3s to 2s. This skill is now ground targeted and will blast finish correctly.

Well, no surprise on the daze nerf, considering it’s insane synergy for MoC. At least the blast finisher will work now.

Bonus: Bristleback Pet F2 is no longer the Sharpen Spines ability. The F2 is now Spike Barrage to give you more rewarding control.

Great. So Sharpen Spines is swapped into the AI controlled skill set then or is it scrapped completely and replaced by a new 3rd skill for Godzilla Jr?

I think I like Druid the way it is. I haven’t played a Ventari healer spec, but from what I’m looking at in the build maker, it seems like something revolves mainly around positioning the tablet and scattering healing fragments/orbs that people actually have to walk across to be healed. Seems very cumbersome (especially with pugs) compared to Druid’s on demand AoE healing.

On top of that, sustain (damage) is already the main theme for the core Ranger. I don’t think we need our first elite spec to also be designed with that in mind.

No point taking rune of the mesmer. The duration inrease is capped at 100%, so MoC is enough. The rune set can’t raise it further.

Druid went above and beyond my expectations for it pre-reveal. I never thought I’d be playing a full on healer again since leaving my Cleric in Aion, but Druid is such a blast to play. I feel once it’s gotten the right tweaks and fixes it will be even more fun. While the focus of the traitline lies with its support-type nature, I can also see some dps builds picking this up for PvE/PvP/WvW, because of useful traits that offer a full condi clear, pretty much perma boonless swiftness, and a smaller scale version of Entangle with only a 10s CD.

If your pet is dead…
SWAP PETS.
Ranger is about pet-management, like it or not. That isn’t going away, ever. However, rangers being able to ignore any cc infinitely on a 10 second ICD regardless of the fact that the pet can be dead, and therefore there is no downside to taking the trait.
Anybody defending this bug or insulting me with false xenophobic statements is frankly delusional, because this isn’t working as intended.

Don’t you just love it when people claim to be maining a class and then proceed to spout complete nonsense about it? Like others have said, Shared Anguish is on a 60 second cooldown. It doesn’t reset when you swap pets. I can’t even imagine how you could even think for an instant that this was possible. If anyone’s delusional here, it’s you. Also, like others also have mentioned, swapping a dead pet puts pet swapping on a 60 second cooldown. There’s absolutely no advantage to letting your pet die on purpose, even if this trait works while they’re dead, because you’d just be crippling yourself both in terms of damage and utility (F2 and pet swap traits you might have taken in your build).

Maybe this is bugged, yeah, but it’s in no way overpowered or worth all this fuss. Just post it in the ranger bug thread and stop trying to portray it like it’s some kind of huge game breaking thing, because it’s not.

Glyph of Unity: Has an aftercast issue. If you use it, you can’t immediately go into casting a new skill afterwards. Seems to put you on an ICD of about 1 second. However, if you spam the skill you want to use next while casting Glyph of Unity it will immediately go into casting that next skill after the cast time for the Glyph is complete.

They don’t seem to be taking any damage. Hope this is intended, because they’d probably melt in seconds with all the AoE that’s over the place and as Druid I found myself too pre-occupied with healing to even remember half the time to activate their F2 when it was off cooldown.

Glyph of Unity: This skill has some sort of aftercast issue currently, which prevents you from casting a new skill right after. It only works if you’re already spamming the button for the next skill you want to use while casting Glyph of Unity. That means if you try to use a skill right after the 1/2 sec casttime of the glyph, nothing will happen. The aftercast seems to be about 1 sec.

Yeah, we really need overhead HP bars. It’s hard to tell who needs healing when without them. Half the time in PvP I had to check if the guy in the party losing HP rapidly was at the same point I was at or at a different one, since you’re usually devided into at least two groups. The other half I was just spamming heals on point because I couldn’t really tell what the status of those who were with me was in all the chaos, so I was playing “better safe than sorry.”

The last time I seriously played a healer before the Druid was back in Aion, where I was a top PvP Cleric on my server. We really need this function if you want support to matter in this game, Anet. Healers need to be able to see in the blink of an eye which ally needs heals when and the ones in the party UI don’t cut it, especially if you’re in a PUG or a group with no voice chat.

Stats for druid?

I’ve only played a little PvE in VB, but most of my time was spent in PvP with the Druid. I have to say that my personal preference there goes to the celestial amulet, combined with with the pack runes for some extra power and precision. I’m not doing tons of damage, but I mainly play a support role, providing constant heals and CC for my team. I’m incredibly tanky because of the reasonably high amount of toughness and vitality the amulet gives me, though in the current state of things I’ve only really found double Chronomancers to be a pain, since they can lock and burst down even a full on bunker Guardian in like 3 seconds flat.

The Secret Water Field on Staff

They showed this on their druid reveal stream, a “portable” water field. Strange it doesn’t show in the tooltip, such a strong skill when used right.

I think you’re confusing this with avatar’s #4 skill, which is indeed a portable water field. However, that one you can’t blast yourself, since it’s a channeled ability.

The Secret Water Field on Staff

So it doesn’t say in the tool tip, but the 5th staff skill is actually a water field. That means you can use the blast finisher of staff #3 on top of it for AoE healing. Not sure if this is intended or just missing tool tip text, but it adds a little more synergy between the weapon’s skills.

Is the move speed trait actually working? I’m not really noticing a difference.

Thought that at first too, but there seems to be a delay on it after you set the trait before it kicks in.

Just found out that Sumblime Conversion (staff #5) is actually a water field! I used the staff #3 on it randomly and it blasted it for healing.
