“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” – Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Sorry Anet but I’m just totally done with this event. I wasn’t a huge fan of it before the update when I first played it but the whole mechanics behind it is just wrong. Never-mind the fact there are no rewards like karma or experience, never-mind the fact that the blooms are so few that you would have to do this every day and get huge buff stacks for the event just to get the most expensive item in the merchant plus 10 gold, never-mind also the fact that this event promotes a level of selfishness that’s unbecoming of the community, what really burns me is the fact that Anet SHOULD KNOW BETTER. They’ve had bad events in the past and have gotten feedback on them and have come out with fun, more rewarding events as a result. For them to come out with THIS imo there’s no excuse. Really disappointed Anet.
OMG! Too awesome! Love it haha! I wantssss iiiiiit!!!
\o/
Great vids! Thanks for sharing them and your build too!
I can see myself using Ventari/Glint in large scale world events where I can do a lot of support such as with Teq or Jormag. WvW in closed spaces like keeps or the lord room I can see myself using it there too. So yes, I think Ventari is still a very viable legend just like all the others, just depends on the circumstances you use it in.
I seriously enjoyed it! Made all the other legendaries run even better along with my builds! I miss my Revenant already!
The real question is why does it feel that way?
I think the answer is that every legend (other than glint) is the barebone version of that role. Jalis is a tank. Ventari is a healer. There isn’t really an in-between with these legends.
Now Glint on the otherhand has multiple uses. Use it to boost your damage with permanent fury. Use it to tank with perma protection or regen. You could even argue it can go condi with might and Elemental Burst.Basically I think that Glint feels essential because she works well with every legend while all the others only seem to work well her.
^this! From my personal experience playing Revenant, Glint felt like it helped to augment whatever playstyle I wanted to achieve based on the circumstances I was in. If I wanted DPS I rolled Shiro and Glint, more tanky go Jalis and Glint and so forth. Glint for me just added that extra buff I needed to make my build even more viable and in turn made the whole profession more fun to play. No you don’t need to have Glint for your build but it just felt better to play her along side with any other Legend.

Someone posted a similar build like this in another thread but I love mace/axe combo. Haven’t tried Shiro with staff yet but certainly will try it out! Thanks for the build idea!
1v1 it can kill all professions if played well:

I’ve been looking for a viable PvP build to try out. This one looks really good. Thanks for this, will try it out!
I’ve been playing Herald and enjoying it a lot as well! Great job Anet! Love the buff support!
Thanks again Roy and the Revenant is still an awesome profession! Love the new specialization, really a lot of fun! Keep up the strong work! \o/
Deleting most of my beta toons except my Rev of course! I wish they would reset the bank too since I’ve got more stuff I’d like to try out on him. :/
Playing Sims 4…yeah…don’t judge me…
I don’t mean to self-advertise, but I have been testing out the condition revenant concept with tormenting runes in WvW and made videos containing footage it works out quite well.
I uploaded 2 roaming videos(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fz3gbvsWow)
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eyr8druOB4) .I have also uploaded 2 small group roaming fights.
(https://youtu.be/kHhIF83jzd4)I hope these give you a pretty good idea about condition -mainly torment- revenant.
Cheers!
Please do advertise! Need all the help we can get with Revenant!
Great videos btw!

- In my experience, content in GW2 is difficult only while people still learn to play. So yes, for a PvE condition build (with more damage from direct hits) Sinister is currently the best choice. I’d hold onto it.
- Carrion armor with Manical Persistence and the fury traits from Invocation works pretty well (tested it last BWE), but I think it’s better to use it in WvW than in PvE. It should be even better now since the trait was buffed to 10% crit chance per tick.
- Given that you want to play conditions, some examples:
Rune of Tormenting for torment overload
Rune of Balthazar for some extra burning and more burning duration for Mace #2
Rune of the Aristocracy when you want to stack some might (e.g. sword #3, then blasting mace’s #2)
Rune ot the Adventurer for more direct damage (personally, I think this one is pretty neat considering its current price)
Rune of the Undead if you decide to play with Rabid or Dire gear.
I like this idea, and I can finally have a reason to use Mallyx more often. WvW would be a good place to test out the torment since PvE mobs don’t move much as someone stated earlier.
I also made a similar thread here, check it out. I agree that the melee staff stance should be revamped.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Suggestion-Melee-Staff-Combat-Stance/first#post5317879
I want my Rev to hold his staff like the “Endless Monkey King Tonic” does! It just looks like he’s about to crack one off on someone’s head!
Hmm… for a revenant, I’m not too sure how good that’d look considering they’re a warrior-like, heavy armor profession and all. Now if thieves get a melee staff as their elite spec, however, I would absolutely love for them to wield it in this fashion, especially if it’s very acrobatic and stylish.
Monkey King!!!
Ok, if my thief got the Monkey King stance for melee staff, I think I will finally have a reason to play my thief more often!
I think I’m going to test out the Shiro + Glint for PvE/Solo play and then for WvW try the Jalis + Glint. I want my Revenant to be a front runner so he’s gonna have to either kill fast or take a hit, just gotta watch that energy!
It’s the weapons I’m torn on, love the hammer but thinking of doing a sword/axe for the solo play, those shield skills (especially #5) looked more like a death trap on demo but we’ll see when the next BWE comes out, I certainly will test it out but it’s not looking like I’ll be using the shield much. Too bad, I love the Flameseeker Prophecies legendary shield skin!

Dang it! There goes my next paycheck getting gems to get the keys to get the BL ticket to get that sword skin for my revenant!!!

Loved the animations on the skill too! Ty!!! <3
(edited by KronosBaelfire.6289)
As much as I’d like that, I think it’s better if they don’t do it. Many people don’t even tolerate bugs when it’s “beta” or “in development”. Imagine what would happen with an early access to something that is not ready yet.
I think with the BWEs and feedback they may actually work out most of the bugs to the point that they can finish Revenant enough to make it playable for an early access.
(edited by KronosBaelfire.6289)
<3 TY ROY!!! Keep up the fantastic awesome OP work on Revenant! You are appreciated!! <3
(edited by KronosBaelfire.6289)
Actually imo those who have pre-purchased the xpac should get early access to Revenant if only so that we can start leveling them for the xpac events and then we wouldn’t have to use tomes. I would really like to play the new content with my Rev but the only way I’m sure to do it is if he’s a level 80. I want to replay season 2 and yes, even the personal storyline on my Revenant but like someone said earlier, I don’t need access to the xpac content right away.
(edited by KronosBaelfire.6289)
I want my Rev to hold his staff like the “Endless Monkey King Tonic” does! It just looks like he’s about to crack one off on someone’s head!
(edited by KronosBaelfire.6289)
I feel the same way. It’s like I’m running around a maze with no end and purpose. Finally got the gliding skill but it really didn’t add much to exploration. Gonna try getting the mushroom mastery but I wish they had added more to the storyline and allow us to progress more through the map.
On the plus side it is a beautiful and interesting map!
(edited by KronosBaelfire.6289)
Graphics are amazing!!! Great job Anet!

Yeah I’m totally stripping all my ascended heavy gear, trinkets and weapons from several toons, they no longer deserve them!!! Revenant love!!! <3 <3 <3
Love the changes, can’t wait to play Revenant again in an upcoming beta weekend which will hopefully happen SOON because I’m going to test the kitten out of that new Shiro legend. Thanks again Roy for all your strong work on this! \o/
Just got done watching a video on YouTube by MMOINKS on his insight about the class and some ideas that I agree with a lot. Someone may have already posted this in the forums so I apologize for the repost but he does make some good suggestions and ideas.
Just like the title says! Come on Anet! You know you want us to start testing that new legendary Shiro ASAP. You can’t fix it until we find out what’s broken and tell you in a very nice and professional way that…… yeah, ya’ll need to take this back to the drawing board and start over and don’t you ever put something like this in the game again, smh but we still love you anyway!
Bring it on! \o/
Or just get rid of it altogether.
LOL….ah…how about Nuuuuuuuuu! XD
Yeah I agree it needs to get summoned when you call on the legendary at the very least. The heals could use a bit more healing power, I do love how it can reflect projectiles AND you can move it anywhere but maybe add some auto random buffs or something more to it. Seriously, that tablet needs to be tweaked and OP imo, the fact that it looks so awesome should reflect how awesome it is! I want players to see it and think “Hey a tablet! Run to it if you want to live!” …just saying.
There’s nothing more amazing or exciting in this world than commanding your pet rock 24/7.
Must be the chain of thought @anet :P
LMAO! Too true! XD
(edited by KronosBaelfire.6289)
I didn’t have trouble surviving on the Revenant. Just used my usual playstyle, constant movement and keeping an eye on my environment, CD’s/hp and survived. But, since the Rev does need some tweaking anyway, more buffs wouldn’t hurt and tweak the Mallyx legend, it’s supposed to send out any conditions you have to your enemy but sometimes it did, and sometimes it didn’t lol. The class is heavy armored so survivability shouldn’t be too much of an issue, maybe just change up your playstyle a bit. Rev is a challenging profession but don’t give up on learning it, that just means you have to get out of your comfort zone and try something new when in battle.
I liked offhand dagger better as it was unique. Animations for dual sword arent great in this game either. Also am i the olny one disappointed by green glow? Ventari has green glow already.
I thought Ventari had more of a yellow glow to it? O.o?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I also liked the UW combat. Sure it needs work but what doesn’t in this game. Nonetheless it would be detrimental to the core game, its storyline, and the lore if they completely removed it. I really hope Anet realizes that and has a team working on UW combat as we speak. UW combat isn’t a total loss, but it does need a little Anet love!
Unrelenting Assault
“Unleash a fierce attack on nearby foes, shadowstepping to foes in the vicinity and delivering strikes. Gain might each time you strike a foe.”
Do you remember the skill in the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™ announcement trailer, where Rytlock Brimstone blinks around through the Mists, slashing at nearby enemies? This is that skill. Your character will unleash a rapid succession of attacks while blinking through the Mists to each foe. It can be used for mobility, damage, or just pure awesomeness.
Enchanted Daggers
“Enchanted daggers will strike your target as you attack, siphoning life from the damaged foe.”
We wanted the heal skill for this stance to have an offensive feeling to it to match the aggressive nature of the playstyle. You’ll summon jade daggers that float above your character. Once they’re summoned, they’ll attack any enemy you strike, siphoning life from that foe.
Jade Winds
“Call upon the Jade Wind to turn nearby enemies into jade, stunning them for a short duration.”
In the Factions® campaign for the original Guild Wars, Shiro released the Jade Wind. This skill is something like that. OK, maybe on a smaller scale—affecting that big of an area might be a bit too strong. You’ll build up power until you release Jade Wind, turning nearby foes to jade for a short duration. We even have a trait that triggers this skill when the player is downed so you can release the Jade Wind when defeated, just like Shiro did.
Okay Anet you seriously have my attention now! Time for another beta weekend! \o/
OMG! Loved waking up to this! Best post ever!!! https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/slashing-devastation-and-a-memorable-assassin/
rytlock’s sword attack was a stealth move in the trailer though. but it’s probably just that 1 skill
Errr, I thought he was shadowing stepping with the sword not stealthing but I could be wrong. I’d prefer the shadowing stepping idea instead for attack skills. Rev’s need to be so bad-kitten they won’t need a stealth, everyone just runs when they see them coming!
No.
No. No.
No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. NO!!!!!!!!!
I refuse to cavort with the idea of this half-finished class being slapped with the broken stealth mechanic. It will just make it appear to have a round playstyle, when in fact it will be kitten.
Oh, you have the hp of a terminal cancer patient and the speed of a thousand year old tortoise on heroin? Well, we’ll just give you kittening stealth and you can be as troll a class as thieves.
LOL! Agreed! XD
if you really can’t handle it… well, there are eight other professions to choose from.
Mmmk, making comments like this only gets you reported and doesn’t help the thread. Everyone is simply suggesting ideas to help improve the class and the last thing we need is someone insinuating that they shouldn’t play a class based on a suggestion to help improve it. Moving on…
It’d be nice if the legends had a passive or on active effect while being attuned.
Now this is a great idea considering most professions have some form of passive abilities and Rev doesn’t seem to get any and no automatic buffs to help it. Someone mentioned previously that we need more support along with increased dps and I have to agree. I like being able to support my team and do some damage in the process and not have to rely on others to buff me but to do both means that either my weapon skills/armor will buff me for the dps while my utilities/traits help with support or vice versa. Work it out Anet! ^.~
And as for Shiro for the next legend, pleeeeeease for the love of all Anet Gods and Goddesses, Sword/Sword for weapons with Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon style animations!!! \o/
If Anet did have weapon swapping, they could keep it at only two legendaries during battle to switch between and not make it too OP along with splitting the CDs and the energy consumption. When I was playing I would have to choose which weapon to use that would work best for both of the legendaries even though the staff for example is imo best for Ventari. With weapon swapping you won’t have to lose the benefit of certain weapons with certain legendaries.
We had energy and cooldowns in Guild Wars 1, and nobody objected then…
The weapon skills also use such a small amount of energy that all it really does is slow your recharge if you don’t have a sustained spell up. If you do, it’ll drain the effect faster, and if you’re just about to be forced to drop out entirely you won’t be able to use weapon skills then. In general, though, energy management is simply part of the profession.
Anet could do both if they maybe split the two and have weapon skills have CDs and the legendary utilities use the energy bar. But having both even if the weapon skills only use a small amount of energy is pointless. Splitting it still achieves the classes energy purposes and doesn’t waste it on the weapon skills.
I think once the profession is done I’m getting the feeling that anyone who plays this class well will be a GWAMM with or without the title! It’s becoming a challenging profession but a fun challenge! ^.~
(edited by KronosBaelfire.6289)
I’m going to seriously miss my Revenant. I actually had a lot of fun playing it even though it was the half-kitten done version of it. But since I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep anything I simply didn’t loot hardly any chests and just trashed or sold my stuff. I did use the shovels I got to help my fellow peeps do chest trains in SW
I have to agree, the tablet needs to auto summon when you envoke the legendary and it should follow you if you get a certain distance away from it. Makes it easier and allows you to focus a bit more on the battle rather than constantly remembering to bring it with you as you move. But, I do love Ventari, great legendary but it does weak heals, really would like to see it heal for a lot more please.
Thanks Anet for the strong work so far! \o
My only complaint, and I’m sure someone has posted this already, is that I wish Anet would decide for the skills to have either CDs or energy bar but not both. It’s somewhat frustrating to want to do something and that skill can’t be performed unless both the CD is gone AND the energy bar is full enough.
Also, I noticed something that might be a bug with the tablet and that is if you are killed and then resurrected the tablet disappears but doesn’t reset on your utility bar. I have to press [Energy Expulsion] to make the tablet reset in order to use it again.
Please look into this Anet, and thanks for the great work so far on Revenant! \o/
Well it’s about time someone started a forum for this!
Meet Ares Baelfire! \o/ And regardless of all the QQing going on, I’m personally enjoying this half-kitten finished version of the Revenant which is why when they finally do complete it, it’s probably going to become my new main toon! Keep up the strong work Anet!

I noticed my darker skin toned characters have the wrong skin tone pigmentation on the character select screen. The character select pictures have the wrong skin tone than the actual character.

I’d consider AP or played time a better measure to reward loyalty than just signing in to a mailing list
Honestly I read “customer loyalty” as “amount spent on GemStore”! :p
Don’t mind though. Fingers crossed.
Well that should put me at the top of the list! ^.~ Which reminds me, I just got paid today, let’s see what new 24-hour only skins are in the gem store now! The check is in the mail Anet! \o/
