And if they added in a huge celebration people would rage about them “wasting resources” that should rather be put in fixing issues or working on the expansion.
Yes, it is cool that the series started 10 years ago, but is it really worth “wasting” time that is better spent elsewhere just to celebrate it?
They could have opened the Pavilion, or SAB, or something. Fun events for which they already have everything created (and locked away for special times). Not really “wasting resources” if they are reusing content/coding from the past…
I think the acknowledgement Anet has done in GW2 (the weapon skins) is good enough since this is its own game.
What I am getting at is that it is rather insulting that it is more Cash Shop related stuff, and not something that everyone can enjoy for free. I can’t possibly consider wasting money on those stupid keys. Every time I do, I get stupid boosters and repair canisters… it is a lame gamble based on useless RNG garbage.
Edit: Don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to be self-entitled or whiny here. With HoT around the corner, it is understandable that nothing is happening because it is a pretty big deal. But it still would have been nice to have something else to do while we wait, right? For example, the SAB’ers are constantly requesting SAB be re-opened… so why not?
(edited by Kross.6428)
I am seriously hoping there is more to this anniversary. The only things that have happened is a random draw for cool prizes, and new Black Lion Weapon skins. Both of which are all about RNG… which is no fun at all seeing as RNG only blesses the lucky few…
Coming from a player who started playing GW1 from the very beginning, this is a rather disappointing and lackluster way to “celebrate” a tremendous milestone.
There are so many same sex relationships in the game, do we even have any heterosexual relationships represented by the main characters anywhere?
The only couple that I can think of is Keiran and Gwen. But that was like 250 years ago…
It really comes down to the player. What is their play style? How much free time do they have? What sort of goals do they wish to achieve?
For me, I am a “variety is the spice of life” kind of player. I have 12 character slots, and I try to divide my time between them as best as I can. I get enjoyment from creating a character, designing their look through armor and weapons, and even to some extent a back-story. It is what makes the game fun for me. While I do main as a Guardian and spend roughly half of my time on him, I also jump onto my other characters when I feel like I need a change of pace. I play all classes, and participate in PvE, sPvP and WvW with all of them. While progress is much slower per character, at this point I’m not sure if I could ever focus on playing just one.
On the other hand, my sister spends all of her time devoted to her Necromancer. She doesn’t play anything else.
The point is mounts can add to the immersion factor. Same with player homes. Mini pets are mostly too small to matter or even notice in game. At least you notice mounts in games.
I disagree. Personally, I find mounts to be immersion breaking. The biggest problem I have with mounts is that they will add clutter (and lag) to the map. Too much stuff going on in one place; it is visually distracting. If mounts were added, literally everyone and Trahearne will be flying around on flaming horses of Balthazar, or tamed mordrem wolves, etcetera.
Heck, mini-pets are annoying enough already…
(I like having my mini-pet out, but seeing everyone else’s adds unnecessary clutter to my surroundings, even if they are tiny.)
Would be epic if Anet turned that empty 4th slot into one for dying the lava bits. Could imagine my necro rocking shadow abyss dyed Balthazar with bright green bits :-D
Agreed. If they added the option of dyeing the flaming parts, it would make this armor set even more amazing than it already is!
Along the same lines I want that ragtime gw2 theme that plays when you die. So awesome.
If you can get your hands on the actual sound file you can make it permanent.
What confuses me though is that the character created was still at the start of its starter mission. If it quit out of there and was used for gold seller spam, surely it wouldn’t go back to that mission in the next relog?
Actually, characters are stuck inside the starter mission until they kill the boss.
And I’ll repeat what the others have said. Change your passwords. All of them. Even better, make sure no two passwords are the same across your gaming and forum accounts. That way, if one is compromised, your other accounts are relatively safe.
Same problem here.
Interestingly enough, I am a member of two guilds and when I rep one guild, I am seeing the chat from the other guild instead. Also, despite being able to read the guild chat, I cannot speak in either of my guilds for “not being in a guild”.
Edit:
I can only see [AW] guild chat when I am representing [VCR]. Also, when I am on [VCR], I can only talk to [AW]. When I change rep to [AW] it goes totally quiet and I can no longer access guild chat at all. This bug is so bad that my guild channels are all mixed up…

I farmed the 1000 bandit crests to just buy my last boot box, since it was the second-to-last thing I needed to finish the whole luminescent collection. The next day, I got a boot box. RNG has a quirky sense of humor.
The exact same thing happened to me. I even joked about it happening beforehand.
RNG is RNG.
I gave up on Bandit Chests after using 3 stacks of keys. Don’t get me wrong, I got piles of other wonderful loot from them so it wasn’t a total loss. Just not any Carapace Armor. Some people find lots, others find none. It is the way GW2 works I’m afraid.
If you don’t want to play a game a chance, stop buying the keys, save up your crests, and simply buy the boxes from the vendor.
A lot of the non-permanent items in the cash shop are junk. In regards to gold-to-gems, due to inflation bank expresses and exp boosters cost piles of gold each. As for using real money to buy exp boosters, instant repair canisters, and the like, I don’t see much point because it is not worth the amount that they are selling it for. Some people buy them, I supposed, but pretty much anything that isn’t an armor skin, outfit, or account upgrade is going to be a rip-off.
On the topic of Black Lion keys, I sometimes farm them and get decent loot from time to time. However, I would never spend gold, let alone real money, on those things. Rewards based on RNG is always going to be a terrible incentive.
Alrightee then, let’s get personal!
- 23 years old.
- I started playing Guild Wars waaay back when Prophecies was just released. I was active on-and-off until GW2 came out.
- My girlfriend is an avid console gamer, while I am more into MMOs. She likes romcoms, and I like action movies. She is really good at math, and I need a calculator for the simplest of things. Opposites attract, I guess?
- Despite living in Canada my whole life, I hate snow and I don’t care for hockey.
- My favorite colors are blue and purple, but really, I like them all.
- I am currently attending classes at a university under the department of Linguistics. I have been a TA for my department for 4 years. My major of study is interesting but not particularly useful, so I don’t really know what sort of career I should look into after I graduate.
- I frequently suffer from anxiety attacks. It is a major obstacle in my life, but I’m working on fixing that.
- I looove pasta in any form. Japanese ramen, fettuccine alfredo, lo mien, mmmmm!
- I used to be heavily involved in various drama programs throughout school. When I was a kid I wanted to become an A-List movie star. Although I don’t pursue that passion anymore, I still daydream about it every once in a while. haha
- I really enjoy Hayao Miyazaki films. My favorite is “Castle in the Sky” (1986).
- I have been to many different places around the world including, Tokyo, London, Waikiki, Kuala Lumpur and Juneau.
- I think that “variety is the spice of life” and try to do something a little different every day. Repetition is boring; I avoid doing the same thing too often. When I play Super Smash Bros, I am that guy who picks “Random”. In GW2, and I try to balance my playtime between all of my characters, and I try to participate in various activities.
Want more numbers? I did another 7 runs this morning. Nada, nil, nothing.
How are players like Scoobaniec able to amass 57 boxes, whilst players like myself are forced to do this event over-and-over again and not able to find one?
ANet, please fix your RNG, it is broken. I’ve been doing this event almost every day for WEEKS now, and I am getting sick and tired of constant disappointment. I am beyond frustrated with this collection.
I have found more Truths, than I have Carapace Coat Boxes. How does that work?
For those, like Power, that want to see more numbers…
I participated in another 8 successful VW runs today and did not find a single coat box.
Hey out of interest, what’s valuable about this coat box? THink I got one and it was an a rare soulbound, I salvaged it and got the skin. What else are you supposed to do with them?
Essentially, they are just skins, but they are part of a collection. There are three coats; one for each weight class. You are guaranteed one box on your first completion of Vinewrath. The other two are randomly dropped at the end of following Vinewrath completions.
Unlike the other Carapace armor skins, the coat is not available from vendors.
(edited by Kross.6428)
Um, as an aside, how can you buy the coat with crests? This option is not there for me. I was unable to complete the LS and just gave up. Does that mean I’m screwed for purchasing the coat with crests?
At the moment, Carapace Coats can only be found by successfully completing all 3 waves of the Vinewrath event located along the western edge of The Silverwastes.
However, people are asking for it to be purchasable from a vendor.
I’m calling BS. There’s no way you did it THIRTHY times and got no coat boxes. That box drops far TOO often. I’ve been salvaging them for silk…
Not everyone is as blessed as you are. No one can control RNG loot distribution.
In my first 50 runs, I had only found the guaranteed box from the first run. Some people, like OP, are simply unlucky…….
I made a similar thread a week ago asking to be able to buy the box, and some arrogant jerk posted a picture of his 44 boxes, and told me I was “not trying hard enough”. It is not like I have any control over how many boxes I get. I do the same amount of work as the other guy and I get less loot? Why is it like that? I just want my 3 boxes so that I can be done with grinding this event over-and-over again…
I had similar problems with the Lost Bandit Chests. I used a whole bunch of keys, and did not find a single glove box or boot box. So instead, I worked hard, saved up my crests, and bought the boxes from the vendor. It was much more satisfying that way because I was at least guaranteed to get what I wanted. I would like to see the coat boxes available for purchase from a vendor so that I can bypass all this RNG nonsense.
(edited by Kross.6428)
Have you tried mixing and matching armor? Sometimes the right combination of armor and dyes can create a rather unique look.
I tried my best to make a crude reproduction of the picture you posted earlier. It is hit-and-miss, but I tried to get it as close as I could with what I had.
In case you’re interested, I used:
Shoulders = Vigil’s Honor Pauldrons
Chest = Brawn of Koda
Gloves = Militia Gauntlets
Legs = Body of Koda
Boots = Phalanx Warboots
The dyes were a combination of: Black, Blood, Fluff, and Fog
Since my original thread got merged, I wanted to respond to some of the players that took the time to reply to my thread.
As an update, since my previous post, I have participated in another 4 runs. No luck yet.
Well I find it highly unlikely that you’ve done “dozens” of VW events. I know it can feel that way, but you’ve probably only done 8-10.
<snip>
Finally, keep at it. Remember, SW is one of the best gold farms in the game right now. Think of it as getting lots of mats for ascended armor, or legendary weapons, or just plain gold for skins. The coat boxes will come eventually.
I stopped counting after 30 successful runs… trust me, I know that I have done more than 8 runs.
As for the latter comment, the decent supply of gold and the fun gameplay is what keeps me going to the Silverwastes. I am merely frustrated at people who seem to get rewarded every single time (like that ignorant jerk that posted a picture of his 44 boxes and said I wasn’t trying hard enough), while I am struggling just to find a single one. I don’t doubt the boxes will come. It is simply a matter of when..?
do the story which award the coat box on another character , that’s how i completed the set, doing the story again , some story’s give the boxes on another char, some don’t , check the wiki, it tells you which
DID YOU PEOPLE DIDN’T KNOW THAT?
(didn’t read all the wall of text above)
Maybe you should read the “wall of text” before replying so then you know what I am talking about. At this time, the Coat Box is EXCLUSIVELY available from defeating the Vinewrath. I have no problem earning the pieces that are rewarded from Story Mode, because that is what I did for the other pieces. Maybe you should check the wiki and get your facts straight.
I honestly assumed that the coat box drop was common. Ive gotten one in every time I do the event. I’ve been salvaging them.
Hope your luck turns around OP.
Thanks Ashen. I appreciate the encouragement. My fingers are crossed Krossed! (^_^)
I turn on my auto-run when I am checking the texts on my cellphone. I have lost count of the number of cliffs I have walked off of.
“Distracted Adventuring. Is it worth the risk?”
This message was brought to you by TATA. (Tyrians Against Texting & Adventuring)
Like you, the Mordrem organs were no problem for me, because I had control over what I received from the bosses. I got to choose my loot in that case. I have all the organs, and finished all the achievements in the Silverwastes. Now I’m just waiting on finishing my armor collection. I don’t like relying on RNG or chance when it comes to getting rewarded for the work I’ve put into the game. I work my butt off to earn my share. I sometimes pop my commander tag to coordinate/rally people on my position, I try to get people ferried into the map, and I never AFK during an event because I am not a pathetic leech. And yet, what took a couple days for my friends/guildies to finish, is taking weeks for me solely because the numbers are against me.
Of course… I have this really bad feeling that I am going to grind a bunch of bandit crests, buy the gloves and the boots, and then that is when RNG decides it is time for me to drown in Carapace Boxes. That’s how it usually works, doesn’ it?
(edited by Kross.6428)
Try harder instead of complaining
Effort = Luck?
Not sure if you’re ignorant, or trolololing.
Thanks for the encouragement Krag.
I don’t have much of a choice in the matter, so I will keep trying until I find it.
*fingers crossed*
I have been playing the Silverwastes on a regular basis ever since it first came out, and I am working on collecting all of the pieces for the Carapace armor set. Although it is a lot of fun, quite frankly the RNG on that map is not working in my favor. At all.
Despite constantly maintaining a 300+MF (including food buffs), I regrettably used up over 3 stacks of Bandit Keys and I have not found a single Glove Box or Boot Box. Not one. Nada. Zilch. Furthermore, to add insult to injury, I have yet to find a Coat Box from the dozens of successful Vinewrath events that I have participated in. (Not including the obligatory reward upon my first completion of the event.)
While I have given up on Bandit Chests entirely, I have simply resorted to just buying the armor boxes with the crests, instead of wasting them on stupid keys. However, the Carapace Coat is not available from vendors, and only found by getting lucky at Vinewrath….. Seeing as this game hates my guts, I desire to purchase it instead of wasting my time. Will it ever be purchasable in the near future? Also, will it ever be possible to trade Carapace armor boxes? The friends that I play with find boxes all the time, and they all say “Too bad I cannot give you my spare boxes”.
Pardon me for complaining, but considering how many weeks I have spent on this gorram map, one would think that I would have found at least one box by now…
/end rant
TLDR;
Will Carapace Coats be available from vendors in the near future?
What are the chances of armor boxes being exchangeable?
Is RNGesus real?
Yukie Utsumi
Born and raised in Divinity’s Reach, she is a descendant of Canthan nobles that were stranded in Tyria by the rising of Orr. She is a natural leader, and is very protective of her family and friends. As a ranger, her main weapon is the longbow. She is also never without her reliable companions, Haruka (jungle stalker) and Mitsuko (forest spider).

Cantha!!
(I’m not basing my opinion on quality of gameplay from GW1, but rather the setting that I would like to visit again in a GW2 environment.)
Personally, I have an interest in Asian culture, language, and architecture, so hands-down my vote goes to Cantha. I thought the idea of the Jade Sea was pretty awesome, Raisu Palace was very impressive, and I liked the peacefulness of Shing Jea. Oh, and the BGM. That was some good stuff right there. Besides, Asia and dragons go hand-in-hand with each other.
Elona is a nice place as well, and there were some pretty well-designed places like Gandara Fortress and the city of Vabbi. But it was very… sandy. Like, everywhere.
However, there is still so much of Tyria that we have yet to see! I look forward to adventuring in the Maguuma Jungle and perhaps the Crystal Desert too.

The trade-off of using the Trading Post, is that annoying 15% trading fee placed upon the seller.
And that’s the single best hedge against inflation that the game currently has. If it weren’t for that removing 15% of the gold from every transaction, inflation would be much worse and most everything would be more expensive.
It also is incredibly important to minimize the amount of non-productive economic activity.
Flipping, arbitrage, and price manipulation are still possible in GW2, but that large fee helps to keep it much less prevalent than in other games.
This is a good thing.
Fair points. I understand that a tax is important to any economy and adds balance somewhere within the market. However, the frugal (and greedy?) little voice in my head still doesn’t like paying extra fees. haha :P
These are the only transportation options I can come up with. I tried to make them as general as possible to include variations of the same idea. These also include my biased assessment, and are sorted in order of convenience:
- Teleportation – our current way-point system, very convenient and easy to use, optional usage, has to be unlocked per character via manual travel, charges a small fee per use, existence counters the need for mounts, apparently game-breaking, apparently overrated
- Mounts – lag-inducing vanity items that essentially serve the same function as way-points but in a slightly less convenient form, the exact same thing as a passive speed boost except they will be available to all players, optional usage, provides new content whether it is part of an unlockable achievement or is available as gemstore merchandise, will most likely be expensive, player satisfaction will sky-rocket, server lag will also sky-rocket, currently obsolete
- Passive Speed Boost – the less flashy alternative to mounts, optional usage, already exists for some classes in the form of signet passives and/or trait abilities, availability is dependent on character build and may be limited because of this
- Sparsely Located Access Points (a.k.a. SLAP) – less convenient form of teleportation, optional usage of what little remains, players will be forced to walk fairly moderate distances because there are fewer places to spawn from, increases time spent travelling and decreases time spent playing the game, players that suck at the game will waste most of their time running which will most likely add to post-death frustration, slower classes may suffer, higher likelihood of missing out on events, arguments suggest this is slightly more realistic and will improve immersion, high probability that it will increase the already abhorrently loud cries for the addition of mounts
- Absolutely Nothing! – the most extreme option, mandatory, very realistic and maximizes immersion, players will be forced to walk to every destination, highest likelihood of missing events, players will spend most of their time running to places instead of enjoying the parts of the game that they like, guarantee of at least 7 new mount threads every hour, invokes flashbacks of taking the exact same daily commute to school/work
I cannot think of anything else that is in some way different from any of these options. Take your pick. Thankfully, I know that the current way-point system is never going to be removed, so I don’t worry one bit about any of the less exciting options being implemented.
The trade-off of using the Trading Post, is that annoying 15% trading fee placed upon the seller.
For example, I want to sell a weapon skin at 100 gold, but in the end I am only going to receive 85 gold for it. If I had the ability to find a buyer without the middleman, I could charge the 100 gold the buyer is going to pay regardless, and not lose out on the 15 gold that gets taken from me.
Eye Floater, Seera isn’t being rude at all. I sense no hostility in his/her words. They are contributing to the discussion and providing legit reasons for why missing WPs would be detrimental to certain play styles.
Seera is not using any offensive language at all. Don’t get offended so easily. :\
…all those annoying mount threads…
I’d be in favor of this if they implemented Mounts.
See? I told you. No WPs, people will want flaming majenta unicorns with jetpacks… or whatever else catches their fancy…
Mots people like the WPs, because they like convenience. If you don’t like them, then don’t use them. Simple.
Also, if most of the WPs were removed, then all those annoying mount threads would have legitimate reasons to whine…
Personally, I don’t understand the tabletop RPG craze. Most of my close friends stopped gaming with me so that they could partake in weekly DnD meetings, and I have joined them for quite a few to see what it was all about. However, I stopped going because it was terribly boring for me. I am someone that enjoys visual aspects of gaming and constant immersion, not any of this turn-based storytelling where I have to roll dice and imagine everything that is happening.
I think GW2 is better as a video game. I don’t understand why anyone would want to tabletop a video-game when they could just play the video-game itself…
Though, to each their own. For those that love tabletop RPGs, I guess Tyria would be a good setting for an adventure.
This is something I have thought about before. It would be really nice if hair accessories were dye-able from the hero menu (like armor), rather than being tied to the hairstyle. Also, being able to choose from the account dye pool would be really nice as well. My Norn has been wearing the same color bandana for a really long time. (Grey colored bandanas are so last year.)

1102695 Display names can take some time to update, especially for accounts with a large volume of friends/blocks/follows
But my display name isn’t what was changed. My email was. But on the forum under my display name when I’m not in a thread shows my old email.
I also have a small number of people on my friends, followers, and blocked lists.
That’s…. odd. I’ll take a closer look.
Mike, myself and a friend of mine who requested e-mail changes have the same problem. Our old e-mails are displayed on our forum id’s in the upper right, not the updated e-mail. If I were to hazard a guess, it’s happened to a lot of other as well, it just hasn’t been thought of as a forum bug.
If you successfully changed the email that you use to access the game, it will not automatically change the email that is displayed on the forums. These two things are strangely separate from each other, despite the fact that you use your new email to log-in. To fix this, you must manually input your new email.
- Log-in, and then select “Forum Profile” (beside the inbox icon).
- Select the red button that says “Edit Profile”.
- Do not click the button that says “change account email”. Instead, input your new email into the fill-in box, and select “Save Changes” at the bottom.
I hope that fixes what you are talking about.
I have only received one exotic armor piece of the same weight class as the character that found it, and that was from one of the loot bags that I had opened, not the chest itself. I haven’t even found a single carapace armor box. So far, other than that one exotic, the bandits chests have yielded nothing but junk.
Sounds like you need to open some more mister!
There are a lot of good things in them.
Hehe, of course I will keep trying. I have been running the Silverwastes for several weeks now with no valuable rewards… so hopefully something good will pop up soon. I am beginning to become jealous of all the players that are constantly spamming their loot in map chat. :P
I have only received one exotic armor piece of the same weight class as the character that found it, and that was from one of the loot bags that I had opened, not the chest itself. I deleted a character that was around level 40. I wanted to change her hairstyle and her name, so I decided that I would remake her. This was during the first couple of months after launch, so I don’t even think the name change contract was available yet.
I also deleted/remade one of my spare alts that was also around level 40, in order to experiment with changes to traits and to see what the NPE was all about. Although, I have barely unlocked any traits on him, I still play him fairly often, and he is currently sitting around level 50 now. A little bit higher than his predecessor.
What’s the point of being so obsessive over negatives? How does this thread makes things better for anyone. It’s not like there have been myriad threads about any of these items.
Without feedback (positive and negative), how else would the devs know what players like and dislike?
Sure, the same threads pop up day-to-day, but if that didn’t happen we would have fewer discussions about hot topics. And while ANet rarely responds, we post our feedback in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, it changes something for the better.
Introduction of Ascended Gear
- I don’t really have much of an opinion on this one. I am too casual of a player to really care for anything beyond exotics. I have only made one ascended backpack, and despite playing since launch I am nowhere near being able to start working on the grind for a legendary.
Lack of New Skills
- I feel that the lack of new skills is an important issue for some players. At the time when those eight new healing skills were released, I became excited about the idea of a larger variety of skills to play with. I began to wonder what other skills would be coming in further updates. I’m now disappointed that nothing else has been introduced since… quite a bit of a let down.
Living Story
- I like the Living Story. I have thoroughly enjoyed both S1 and S2 so far. While the gaps between updates do feel a bit large, I still think that the overall quality of the LS is decent enough to make up for it. Seeing as I am a casual player, I go through the content at a slow pace, so I don’t really mind it all that much.
New Traits System
- This catastrophe. This is pretty much the darkest mark on the game that I can think of. I wholeheartedly detest what they did to the game when they changed the traits system. Turning something that once allowed flexible character building into a tedious grind-fest and unnecessary gold-sink truly left a sour taste in my mouth. Also, because they have said very little about it in the past 8 months despite netting the largest thread on the forums, I’m pretty sure this will be here to stay for a very long time.
ANet’s Communication Policy
- While I can understand they are all hush-hush about their plans to avoid player backlash against “unfulfilled promises”, I feel that the lack of communication is also painting them in a bad color. Unfortunately, it is lose-lose for them either way you look at it. If they could find a nice middle-ground to communicate with us, that would be great. But right now the devs have their mouths taped shut by their policy, and cannot share their interesting ideas with us. The CDI’s are a nice feature, because it engages player discussion with the devs. However, they pick the topic, and nothing else will be allowed mention.

Just double checking, you know that supply crate doesn’t mean it’s a Turret Engineer
Because no turret Engies are grenade spamming you to death. And the majority of grenade spammers will smack you with a wrench. If you think every Engineer has the same build, it’s probably because you can’t tell the difference, why not play the profession yourself?
I don’t count Supply Crate. I have seen some players whip out Mortar instead.
I’m not trying to insinuate that every single engineer in the history of GW2 is a turret camper. I made a mistake when I said “they are all the same”. I was merely expressing my collective experiences with battles against engineers. Maybe you’re not having the same problem that I am having. I am very well aware that there are other builds out there… I just have yet to see them for myself.
I have leveled two engineers to 80. So, I am at least familiar with the weapons and skills of the class. I’ll admit, despite playing since launch, I only started playing pvp about two months ago. Am I an expert? Hell no. Am I ignorant? Definitely not. I try my best to pay attention to how I die. I even spectate battles every once in a while to see how others play. Isn’t that how people improve their strategy?
Perhaps, you’re right. I am a little bit frustrated when it comes to engineers – they are a powerful class when played correctly. I don’t think for one moment that they are OP. Just annoying.
All they would do is camp a spot and just stand inside their fortress of machines and cc anything that got close.
every engineer is the same. I would rather see alternative builds for them become useful in PvP, because the lack of creativity amongst engineer players is absolutely appalling…
No.. Engineer probably has the biggest diversity of functioning builds possible.
And fortunately most of them don’t play Turrets, in my experience.
Don’t be blinded by tears of frustration
Well, Chaith, from my experience perhaps I have had the unfortunate coincidence of running into nothing but turret engis? So maybe instead of jumping the gun, nitpicking my quote, and calling me out as a crybaby, you should consider that there are heaps of people that don’t embrace this build diversity you claim and stick to the ever-popular turret camping technique. I see it in the lobby “lfm 5 man turret team” everyday. I have yet to see one of those suckers roast me with their flamethrower, or smack me with a wrench. Every loss that has been dealt to me by an engineer has been due to turret and grenade spamming. I guess that is why people love turret camping so much.
My perspective differs from yours. Yours differs from mine. I understand there are many builds for engineers out there, especially with being able to switch weapons on a moments notice. I am merely stating that I have yet to encounter this. Maybe you’re just lucky enough to have run into the players that I haven’t.
Longest losing streak is lucky 13.
I broke my dignity.
Almost every round I have played this week there was at least one engineer on the enemy team, and all they would do is camp a spot and just stand inside their fortress of machines and cc anything that got close. I have yet to win against them, even with stability and (attempts at) aoe attacks. I am hopeless against turret campers when playing any class…….
PvP has become nothing but some poor sod vs. grenade barrage + rocket turret + thumper turret + flamethrower turret + llama finisher.
The thing that bugs me is not the fact that engineers are tough to take down. It is that every engineer is the same. I would rather see alternative builds for them become useful in PvP, because the lack of creativity amongst engineer players is absolutely appalling…
(But I would still like to have the old system back, where you could experiment because you don’t have to go and collect them like pokémons.)
I want to be the very best
Like no one ever was
To level up is my real test
To trait them is my cause
I will travel across the Mists
Searching far and wide
Each tower won to clear the lists
Hidden skills, now denied
Guild Wars 2~! Gotta trait ‘em all~! It’s true you see
That plan was a catastrophe
Guild Wars 2~! Oh, you’re a good game
But these unlocks are very lame
Guild Wars 2~! Gotta trait ’em all~! What shall we do?

Guild Wars 2!!

Holy crap, this has been in this game for 3+ months? Anet always amazes me.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it stays ingame for a few more months…
I wasted good money on a flashy finisher not too long before this bug was rolled out… (My mistake). I seriously hope that it doesn’t stay bugged for much longer.
I really like this “three stars and a wish” format. I am going to be less concise with my response. Okay, here goes…
My three:
- The beautiful cities and landscape. I am constantly amazed by the amount of effort that was put into this world, and the wide variety of terrain and architecture across Tyria. Whether I am wandering the bustling streets of Divinity’s Reach, or exploring the vibrant areas of the Grove, I always feel at home within the cities. As for exploring the world, each map offers their own majestic sights that continue to amaze me over and over again. From the towering mountain at the Durmand Priory HQ to the time-beaten remnants of Ascalon, I can always find time to appreciate the detail that had been put into this game. GW2 is most definitely a feast for the eyes.
- Character customization. One of my favorite things to do is make new characters, create a little back-story in my head, and play them to level 80. I currently have 12 characters (I log onto a different one each day to keep things exciting). I especially enjoy the many armor and weapon skins that allow me to make my characters aesthetically unique. Furthermore, I absolutely looove the way we can dye our armor on a whim. Tired of wearing blue? Try something in red instead!
- WvWvW. Although I personally don’t spend a lot of time doing it, I really enjoy this part of the game when I do. While some days are built upon mindless zerging, and other days are leaning more towards organized strategy, I find that it is rarely a dull moment in the Mists. I still get a thrill out of participating in large scale battles at Stonemist Castle, sneaking around enemy territory with a small havoc crew, and even working together with my team to defend a tower from invaders.
My wish:
- Post-AFP Traits System. I am not going to make it a secret that I absolutely hate what happened to traits during the April update. Before, unlocking traits was extremely simple, but it allowed players to experiment with builds right away. Now, it is a boring grindfest and has taken the fun out of playing new characters. I wish traits would become easier to access at lower levels, so that character building can be flexible once again – like how it was before April – while still maintaining some level of fun/challenge in unlocking them.
There are a lot of good things in them.
