Best advice I can offer is to pick your timing to enter a fight.
E,G
At the start when 4 people run to mid point (Usually) you want to wait, way back out of the fight, until the enemy team decide to either; target someone else who can tank better than you, (since you have 0 life force at the start), or then engage you way off point giving your team the cap.
I create videos of some of my games so If you want to watch for the types of things I mention here, this video shows it best since It’s the reason for the video;

Can someone please explain how Decay isn’t knocking some of these players out of the top 250 ranked players.
I am talking about players who have played <50 games, and in some cases, they have only played 10 matches, their placement matches. Here are some examples:
http://i.imgur.com/s723011.jpg
This player has played 10 games total, this particular player has a 7-3 win/lose after placement matches. 70% Win rate, yet others have had the same score from placement matches and been put into gold Division or even Silver Division. This particular player is ranked 92nd.
Another example can be seen here;
http://i.imgur.com/7HcdhTB.jpg
Ranked 139th. Same story with a 7-3 score after placement matches.
The only thing I can assume is that it’s based on your already existent MMR before Season starts, therefore placement matches aren’t really placement matches;
OR
Placement matches are more beneficial to be played either at the beginning or end of the season – i.e play 10 games and get 7-3 to be top 250.
I’m not sure which but looking as these players haven’t played more than 10 games and haven’t been decayed down the ranks I would lean towards the end of the Season to do placement matches.
I understand that Decay can be re-gained and is capped to a point, but playing such few matches or only your first 10 placement matches from many players in 250 doesn’t seem enough to knock them out of the top 250, when they are not actively playing the Season.
You can see how some players gained a high rank (top 250) from placement matches, somehow, and then proceed to play only enough games to stop de-cay and so remain in the top 250.
My point applies to those who have played very few games, most have played more than the placement, these are just extreme examples, but there are players who have <50 games and are in the top 250 yet still on a ~50-55% win rate.
Finishing the season with <50 games unless having a high win rate such as, 80+% Win rate, should not place you in the top 250 players.
Decay should punish these players more than it does currently.
Not played in WvW for over a year, after playing sPvP for a short time I went back into WvW and roamed for a few days, couldn’t find much to fight but here’s to a start of some more videos I hope :p
Taken some of the advice onboard and swapped some traits, runes and a sigil.
So, After coming back to the game I hopped into sPvP to see what Leagues were all about. Looked on ‘Metabattle’ and picked the reaper build from that.
I played one game, seemed a little ‘easy’ to me, I also am not a huge fan on condition based builds. Here is the first game – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prv2FY3g2xI
I decided to try a build that ‘counters’ the heavy Boon Spamming professions that most players are using.
I began with a complete Boon Corruption based build with high power damage. Here one of the first attempts at ‘Bunker Breaker’ – and also one of the longest ‘in-combat fights’ I’ve had in sPvP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K1lYlu2CIU
Eventually I swapped out from Axe to Dagger for the immobilise combination and Wells and more sustain in a 1v1 fight. I also changed the Shout Elite to Lich Form for higher Damage during tougher Team fights.
This lead to what I believe to be a great build and its extremely fun to play.* Final ‘Bunker Breaker’ set up – so far *- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNiov3VG8DM
Let me know what you think of any improvements that can be made. If you want to know.

Well of Suffering
Summon Flesh Wurm (Spectral Walk optional)
Lich Form
Traits
Spite
Spiteful Renewal (can swap to Bitter Chill if too survivable)
Chill of Death
Spiteful Spirit
Soul Reaping
Soul Marks
Vital Persistence
Foot in the Grave (Death Perception unnecessary)
Reaper
Relentless Pursuit
Chilling Victory
Blighter’s Boon
Basics of the Build.
Game play style
‘In and Out’ of Death Shroud a lot. Keep Life force at ~25-50%. ‘All in’ damage every 30 seconds. Looking for a 1 Rotation knock down. Able to sustain until the next ‘all in’ attempt. (Well cool downs)
Healing
Consume Conditions , self explanatory.
Blighter’s Boon, Life Siphon on Dagger and Mark of Blood on Staff are your non healing skill heals. While Healing Skill is on Cool Down, sit in Death Shroud if needed until its back up.
Rotations
Begin in Staff
1. Marks for Life Force. Try to save 4 + 5 for when need condition transfer or a fear to counter stomp/stability. Use all marks if you feel you need the life force.
2. Locust Swarm from Warhorn + Attempt Dagger Immobilise. – Locusts break any Aegis/Blinding.
3. 2x Wells.
4. Dagger Auto Attacks as long as possible/needed.
5. Death Shroud, Infusing Terror + Souls Spiral
6. Executioners Scythe + Death Charge.
7. Death Shroud Auto Attacks as needed.

Either,
A Veto system where you can Veto certain maps and never have a chance to encounter those maps – limited to 2 map Vetos.
Or
A vote at the end of the match open to all maps.
Power/Condi hybrid is fine. I use a similar build sometimes when roaming. -
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNApcTjMdUFahHmhwJaghgC5rXCGDgfW9ZsGdBA-w
Although I do not use Greatsword. I opt for the Longbow, both a condi and power weapon so it fits, also the Burst is used more often than the Greasword giving the ability to condi-cleanse whenever you need.
I also swap out Shield for Sword in the off-hand for an extra Condi (torment), it also helps when chasing players, they either stop running so you catch up, or they die as they run away. – Rip also does massive damage.
You have 6 in defense, going for retal procs, yet you have lots of blocks/invulnerability. (Mace block and Stuns/daze, Shield Stun +block and Greatsword Whirlwind Evade) all of this prevent the enemy from hitting you and getting anything from retal hits.
I would recommend going 6 in Discipline and taking Burst Mastery for more adrenaline up-time and adrenal healing minor procs. – also Healign surge can then be swapped for healing Signet which works best as it ticks when you are blocking/Stuning/Dazing the enemy and they can’t hit back.
Vigor on stances and Stamina Signet gives great endurance regeneration. – Dodges and good use of Stuns/Blocks are what keep you alive.
This is a fun build but more 1v1 than 1vX. You can see some slight changes to what you are running but that is what I use and find it super fun and powerful against most others.
http://intothemists.com/guides/991-wvw_shout_heal_frontliner
There is the most used and basic build for that role and weapon sets. You can slightly change gear and traits to suit yourself.
This would be a very good minor trait.
yes, The 5th slot (25 points) replaced from might on swap. It’s very little different to this trait and this is a minor. imo the might on swap is a better trait and even that’s a minor and not a major.
They could easily switch blind/might on weapon swap with each other and have might boosted to ~3 might on weapon swap as a major trait and blind removal on swap as the minor instead.
This would make the 6th (30 points) in discipline a harder choice and make builds more varied with 3 useful traits to choose from.
If you have Hall of Monuments you can go to there since its a small map and empty of players. (Unsure if it resets on log-out though)
You could also try The Grove since its the smallest city and pretty easy to get to.
What you just describes is almost max counter-conditional set-up. The only other thing you could add would be Signet of Stamina if you wanted.
Warriors have it easy against heavy conditions, think about other professions and what they have to deal with. Even escaping 2 heavy Condi-builds is good for them, but in answer there is nothing you can do other than kill/down one of them during your Zerker stance is active to make it a 1v1 with 1 guy downed.
Run away/kite until help arrives would be my suggestion. You don’t have to take every fight you come across, just ask a thief.
In the rare case of a 500-500 score, personal score decides the winner. How would you replace what decides the winner?
I agree though personal score has little meaning and should explained either at part of the tutorial PvP area or some how through Hot-join.
Until personal score is completely irrelevant we have nothing to decide the outcome of a 500-500 match at the moment.
Most Guilds would rather go OS for the bloodlust buff being removed but for doing a GvG in a Borderland;
Reasons are usually either one of the Guilds have a Queue on the current map and if one guild leaves to OS for ~30 minutes for some GvG Scrims they wont be able to re-enter the Borderland. So for ~30 minutes in a ~4 Hour Raid night, it’s not worth it for a Queue afterwards.
Either way, In my opinion that Guild is occupying another Guild from the precious PPT for that time anyway, so it evens out. Most Guilds who GvG are somewhat decent in open field fights and having a GvG can allow other smaller groups freedom to play without getting destroyed by this enemy guild group.
Most people forget that these Guilds who do GvGs are in WvW more often than most other players 4-7 days a week for hours on end, even though they aren’t a PPT focused guild, they will still capture and prevent capture of objectives which indirectly contribute to your PPT, so allowing a break from that for a GvG in a Borderland for ~30 minutes should be forgiven.
The bad attitude from that particular guild is not from all GvG Guilds, watching others die will happen and does happen anyway with commanders (people not in TS running ahead) so its no different from that.
I made a post a while back with videos to show.
With the recent Buff to Runes of Strength its my go-to rune set.
Before the patch hit I had stepped away from Lyssa Runes because of the proposed changes to them in preparation for post-patch. I am now fully happy with my build and would like to share it with you all.

sigil of battle, hoelbrak runes(if they are still the best) – and the new might sharing trait. Maybe 5/0/20/30/15 or something like that. -see the might share as support. Can be Rabid/Carrion or Berserker, looking at Hambow still for fire field blast or sword/Horn +bow for same thing if condition. – Warbanner elite for constant might sharing. OP!
build no different from your followers so you know their limits and when to pull out and heal up.
The only consolation is, the new recruits to Gandara appear to be below the standard we have come to expect from the server.
…
Personally, I think it should have been AG who got the free transfers, always a good fight and their recent fall has been a blow to them and the league.
Everyones standards dropped since season 2 began, all the non-WvWers coming in to Karma train their achievements is to blame for that. Towards the end of the season when the WvW casuals have finished their achievements, they will retreat back to Teq or Wurm or whatever A.I based farm they enjoy.
at the time AG had small queues (we still had guilds) and if we had free transfers, we would have been in the same situation as Gandara, what would have been better was for free transfers to all servers, Gandara being the only international free transfer was the mistake, if all servers had free transfers guilds could spread themselves out more than stacking with (including how ever many PuGs moved to Gandara as well)
It looks like AG is set for low silver/high bronze at this rate.
Most EU players know each other by now who post there and just talk in-game to set things up. Generally people us the site to set up GvGs or post their latest video.
No one is interested in a flame-war about match-ups. (speaking as someone from EU)
PPT is meaningless when after its all said and done, come friday, everything is reset and it starts over again. People only remember the fights and good moments during the match up and not the fact that we were ticking for 300 PPT that night.
Not all servers feel this way, of course some go for the PPT way of playing, but most players from Guilds are looking for other Guilds to test themselves, be it open field or organised GvG with set numbers.
What might happen is Condi-Bunker will hold close from now on so the beat the De-cappers. Ranger/Warrior on close with Condi Specs (Hight Stability builds)
It really depends on your build on who will win in a 1v1.
Condition based warriors lose to Necros (they throw the bleeds etc back at you).
Power Warriors (Hammer – Axe/shield – Bulls/GS) win Necros. Stun gg.
Condition warriors Win thieves (low Health on Thieves and high Burn ticks)
Power warriors lose to good thieves from blind spaming (you can kill them in the time Berserker Stance is actively though or you avoid their blinds). – don’t stand in the blind fields!!
Condition warriors beat all engineers – EVEN AR !!! – stack conditions before they are at 25% gg.
Power Warriors beat all engineers. – similar to thieves – kill when zerker stance active. – double stability vs de-cap (+lyssa optional).
Condition warriors beat all Guardians (limited Condi cleanses and relatively low Health, also ability to build tanky with condition damage) -Dire/Rabid.
Power Warriors beat DPS guardians imo – Zerker stance their blinds and dodge their 1 burst they have (focus 5 pop and GS 2/Judges combo). – If you can’t then that burst will damage you enough to lose.
Bunker Guardians will be stalemate.
Power warriors Lose to condi warriors played corrected due to being kited when bleeds/burns.
Condi warriors vs Condi warriors comes down to who uses Zerker stance better/dodge better.
Power Warriors Beat most Mesmers (stealth spam PU phantasm can be tough)
Condi Warriors just destroy mesmers.
Power warrior beats Eles – Same as thieves but less Evades from Eles
Condition warriors beat Eles – Same as thieves, just have to reapply often due to superior cleanses.
Warriors beat rangers like everyone other profession.
This is just a small amount of builds in my head when thinking who would win 1v1. Its a great profession to 1v1. The main down sides are, blind spam kills you, being out of melee range kills you and professions that are a 50/50 when played at the high levels will just destroy you. (Great thieves, mesmers and awesome scepter Eles) – others you should really be winning.
It depends on how experienced you are in WvW; if you are in an experienced WvW group/guild or If you are part of the ‘EB zerg’ mostly, or lastly smaller groups (5-15).
1. As a starting out warrior in WvW, I always suggest Soldier Armour, Zerker Jewels.
Take this to begin with as it’s pretty nicely balanced, keep adding more Zerker/Knight/Cavalier Armour pieces until you find your breaking point (where you can no longer survive the fights ), and then go back one armour piece.
If this is you then, the most noob friendly build is the first one with Shouts that heal for that reason.
2. For a more experienced WvWer (if this is an alt) or if you are part of an organised WvW group/guild. You can go into Knights/Caviler Armour and again Zerker jewels. (this will change to Soldier armour if you are fighting other blobs/zergs rather than other guild groups of similar size).
I would then take the 2nd build, (Burst mastery) – With a group that knows how to water blast, shout healing isn’t necessary and any increase in DPS would be better. (too much survivability is a bad thing – you still need to kill quickly)
As a side note, I can see warriors dropping shout healing in the future meta pretty soon anyway, especially after the 15th patch – its already becoming, no longer a thing, in GvGs recently anyway, soon it will filter down to general builds in place of other more useful builds.
The only mistake Anet made was having Gandara as the only free server that was international (not french, german, or spanish).
Of course everyone will transfer to this server as the only english speaking server that is free and isn’t either a blob style (gold) or small roaming style (bronze).
As soon as it was announced who the free servers would be I knew that’s where most people will go to only for this one reason. After the tournament we should see people move off Gandara if the queues remain.
lol, Get on my level son.
I played EU most of the time in a mid ranking server (Aurora Glade ~13th).
I moved to NA to Sanctum of Rall in ~June ’13 which If I remember correctly was a top tier NA (3rd of 4th back then). I played NA for 3 hours and had to stop playing after that much time due to the poor quality that I was seeing.
What I witnessed was truly magical, EU had moved passed the Veil trains and Portal bombs of old, there must of been some delay with tactics moving across the Atlantic or something, as all of the NA groups where just feeding us 20 kills with each portal bomb they attempted. If it didn’t work the first time, they would keep trying for some reason. I just got bored with the lack of strategy I was seeing from them, they seemed to be 2 or 3 months behind EU.
What I would say is that NA do like to PPT and go for the victory more than EU cares for it. Most EU players don’t look up what the current scores are during the match-up, just look at whats on the map to fight. German servers seem to be the exception to this rule and they do like their siege warfare.
Since then I have not been to an NA server so I cannot say how closely the tactics are to EU nowadays, Just that back then they seemed to be behind by about 2-3 months.
If it were to work the same as other stances the duration of the ability would be 5-8 seconds. For stability it wouldn’t be worth it for such a short duration.
I would rather have the longer duration and risk the boon being removed/corrupted.
I would like to see rank finishers beyond Dragon Finisher for rank 80+ people. So there is a new exclusive rank to go for, for those that will be 80+ come 15th April patch.
Such as 80+ 10 is Super Rabbit
80 + 20 is Super Dolyak
etc etc
So the ranks kind of reset, you could even have different colours. 1-80 Rank is yellow currently. 81-160 Rank could be red colour, so when you see someone with a Red Shark finisher (80+60 ranks), you know that guy has put in the hours in sPvP and the prestige is still there.
I think this could be a nice in between for those that like the change but also those hardcore PvPers that want to show some kitten in game.
I personally think the Devs are doing some secret testing and that’s why we are getting bad lag since Season 2 began (Like when culling was removed). Skill lag is skills lag and we all know that happens when huge numbers enter combat.
I have been getting rubberbanding and stutter stepping more and more, Even in Obsidian Sanctum in a GvG everyone in the map was getting it, and that wasn’t anything like the numbers you would expect to begin getting lag, so that’s why I think they are testing stuff without telling us about it.
^^ Good job on calling something that already is true.
Ham/bow will still be one of the strongest builds a Warrior can play due to the team support and AoE Stuns to help/stop ressing/stomps.
I predict Warriors to become Hybrid builds with a might sharing (new trait) heavy CC with Perplexity Runes (Hammer – Mace/shield). this will be one build I’ll be looking at for the lulz to begin with and we’ll see where it goes. (sigil of Nullification to remove stability) You could get massive amounts of confusion on someone, but if its worth it??
The changes to Ham/Bow really aren’t that significant in reality. Even if they were to nerf the build on average of 10% (5% on stunned and 15% on Arch isn’t 10%). You are still going to be outputting a ton of damage with the CC to prevent any incoming damage to yourself. It will just take 10% longer time to kill that player. It will still be one of the most played builds, just not as easy for bad warriors to play effectively.
The support Warrior will be able to provide whilst doing great damage will make them as needed as a bunker guardian in Team PvP. Guardians have Empower, Warriors will have something like Great sword with Might on Crit traited and Hoelbrak Runes, drop your warbanner for continuous might stacks, now warriors give massive might to team fights (Great sword/Hammer) – Even Hambow, blasting the Fire field with Battle Sigil gives 25 stacks of might by themselves.
Really looking forward to the changes and I’m happy Bad warriors will stop getting a easy ride in sPvP. L2P better and stop crying!
I predict GvGs, GvGs everywhere!
Commander System upgrades.
Couple things,
Used Endure Pain to stomp a Necro under 0 pressure from anyone, wasted a good 3 or 4 seconds and now it’s on cooldown for the rest of the round. Try to save Endure Pain until 50%, that way you get the best benefit from from Healing signet + other Heal over time ticks.
Use your great sword to move around the map or catch up to the front Melee more. You seem to dodge jump to catch up, wasting endurance when you may need it a moment later when you push in.
at 02:30 you went solo hero mode chasing a Mesmer. If they had noticed that, you would be dead. Don’t chase unless you have cool downs to save you if you are noticed (Endure Pain) Immediately afterwards you again dodge jumped wasting a dodge. Any Assist Team would pick you out when you are separated so much.
03:05 Used Endure pain, good use of it, could of stayed in to damage while Endure pain was active a little longer before rushing out.
So nice play for the role in the GvG. Just remember to not Dodge-jump for mobility, Use Endure Pain to its full effect and don’t get tunnel vision and solo Hero mode without an escape.
It is only a block, if a skill is unblockable or becomes unblockable you still get hit. For example Signet of Might active, will go through all blocks because it made your attacks unblockable.
This might be the reason why you are getting hit.
Nothing better than Kill shot through a guardian shelter when he thinks he’s safe in WvW.
I have not had any issues with shield/sword blocks myself.
The only Issues I can see is you have no lock-down/Stuns to get a decent Hundred Blades off, better players will simply freely move out of it. If I’m correct in thinking that the GS is purely for mobility purposes and gap closing, in which case, Horn isn’t needed. You use 2 Stances and Vigor from horn can be replaced by Vigor on Stance trait. This frees up the off hand for either a Mace/Sword/Shield.
Mace for the small 4% DPS increase to Eviscerate (vulnerability) and a ranged CC, excellent as a gap closer/interrupt when enemies retreat to heal up.
Shield for a Stun to set up your Eviscerate and added blocks against their burst. (GS can cover this from Whirlwind Evades)
Sword for a long block (almost as long as shield when out of Melee) and good Condition pressure ticking while you are getting kited. When enemies Flee, the torment from sword is sometimes enough to force them to stand still or die, allowing you again, to gap close whilst dealing damage (although small with low Condition damage it’s still pressure). Either way, it gets the kill, through torment damage or from forcing you to catch up to finish them off in Melee.
Is Signet of Fury necessary for the Active in your build? I don’t see the value of it when you are only using Eviscerate, unless you are using extra Critical or Damage boost traits when Adrenaline is up. I would suggest trying a CC utility to help get a strong hundred blades off.
I suggest trying:
Vigor on Stance use.
Mace/Shield/Sword off hand. (I would go Mace for the ranged CC)
Stomp/Kick/Bulls Charge/Bolas replacing Signet Fury. (I would go Bolas/Bulls although Bulls is kind of ‘over-done’ in roaming warriors I also like to do something different from normal builds).
Nice video all the same, not many good opponents though, many stand in your Burst or fail at dodging.

This is the current Hybrid, ‘go to’ build for warriors. Really fun to play and can kill almost anything.
Honestly if you just De-tour because you see a single guy running and you feel the need to steamroll him with 25 guys….Un-Install.
Red is dead.
Killing a solo roamer or small group when you’re in a large group?
Of course you have to do it. So what if they don’t stand a chance? If you don’t kill them maybe they’ll take a tower 3 minutes later. Maybe they’re bringing supply to another group. Maybe they’re scouting. Every single enemy you kill is a tactical advantage. If you want to play fair, just go play chess or something.
^
Exactly.
This made me think of that scene in Saving Private Ryan when they let that german soldier walk away counting to 100 only to see him later, back in a regiment fighting with a rifle.
We Generally leave roamers to roam, only when we are about to fight a guild in the next minute and some members needs sigil stacks would we quickly kill and only if they are right next to us, we wouldn’t chase. If you attack us, we’ll kill you and if you are blocking our group from doing something (standing in a capture ring) we’ll kill you.
Guilds don’t add ever! Guilds on AG like to test their strength on their own and the only way to do that is by fighting alone, until the last man stands. Other guilds will watch from the sides, let the enemy guild res up and regroup themselves and then take their turn to fight them where the last guild may have failed.
Generally ask in /map or /team if they need help or want you to add before doing so. Adding into a fight, even one that your ally Guild is losing, isn’t going to help that guild get better.
If they are tanking their score, which is doubtful, I don’t care – Let them into Silver league. I would rather have a Match-up against Piken for 8 weeks than any other server with the good guilds they have to fight against.
The rewards can be earnt from other positions than 1st.
Just a quick question,
Are the Match Win Reward Chests for Solo Queue and Team Queue being removed as well on the March 18th Patch? If so, is it best to open them before the 18th?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Match_Win_Reward_Chest
I say this because I have saved over 250 of them now, thinking they might give different rewards, but I don’t wont to log-in on the 18th and find they are missing or deleted.
Anyone else saving these up?
It’s a bit stupid, We had Kodash suicide Bannering Their zerg for almost 2 Hours last night in their EB keep. I did get Howl from it but I still got bored afer 15 mins.
25+ people taking ‘falling damage’ displays the orange swords through entering combat.
Maybe EOTM has hit your sever harder than those you are fighting against this week??
Wait a few weeks for the ‘newness’ to ware off.
(except FURY which is rumoured to have made a comeback on some other server, AG maybe?)
FURY are back together on AG and raiding again, I do not want to speak for them, but some FIRE guys have joined with them also, don’t know how many.
Don’t want to change subject on this post so….
/bump for you!
Really GH is full?
I heard you guys where a dying server, that most guilds, left or disbanded recently.
I must of been mis-informed. AG is in the same situation, 3 guilds per map 7 days a week is about the average + PuGs. EOTM has free’d up slots though for now.
We shall see if after the shiney new EOTM map has worn off, if people return to Borderlands or stay in EOTM.
Season 2 will show what spaces are left.
I have been out the loop for a while, taken a break for 3 months. – What guilds are on GH now, I remember MM, RAGE and TEO any others?? – notable that is.
I would also love for the skins of the Gem store to return, mainly Braham Mace and Shield. I want DOUBLE BRAHAM MACE on my norn. drools…
I had an idea when I was watching the other 2 servers in my match-up fighting it out in front of myself. I couldn’t see who was winning the fight, was it server A or server B? – All I was watching was a pile of red names running into each other.
I thought, wouldn’t it be good if your name tag showed up in the colour of your server for that week. i.e
Server A = Red Name tags
Server B = Blue Name tags
Server C = Green Name tags (different shade from ‘friendly’ player green)
This way I could clearly see; the server the group in front was from and also who was winning during a fight between the 2 servers.

in TS – ‘BLOB INCOMING!!’
Turn to look and it’s 1 MM necro running towards us.
Forget small scale. A Guild group of ~23 can scare a map blob after a couple of fights to the point they just Run away as soon as they see you. Happening a lot more often these days that larger groups run away and Way point out of sight. Looking at you AM!
