I
Guild Wars 2 on the other hand does really poor job at selling useful things:

And yet Guild Wars 2 does make enough money in order for ArenaNet to avoid a rather massive layoff involving all other studios owned by NCSoft.

Not sure this is a fun commend or not.

At least you can’t be serious.

The only reason why A-Net is still alive is that they let almost everyone go and
outsource as much as they can.
That also explains why GW2 as a product looks so disconnected from the customers
or their former glory.

Let me quote from employees NOT MADE UP BY ME
QUOTE:

  • Severe reliance on contract/outsourced positions completely tanks morale across virtually every department.
  • Resources are spread too thin. Nothing seems like a real priority
  • Most of the upper management seems disconnected from their employees and the customers
  • Compensation: ArenaNet has always paid below the industry standard for most, if not all, of its positions.
  • Salaries have not only lagged behind, but opportunities to advance have also been greatly reduced.
    END QUOTE
Just to add to that, the positive outlook by the employees is around 54% right now

On top we have the income report that clearly shows that they had a little peak in 2013 but in general lose about 3 million to the former quarter.
Like we all read GW2 is not under the top revenue games any longer.

How do you read out of these informations that A-Net makes enough to keep the employees and deliver a descent product is far beyond me and totally delusional.

Fact is that they did bet on odd horses and lost.
LS was more than a foreseeable failure and the fact that they stick to it instead deliver expansions has more to do with the financial situation.
They simply can’t switch anymore even if they wanted.

I know most people “dream” of a hidden secret expansion project that will pop out of nowhere.
But sadly all of the relevant numbers speak against that.
A-Net isn’t announcing something epic because there is nothing to announce.

Simple plain and very sad

You just can’t win, if you do one off events and change them the next year people whine that they missed it last year and want it back so they can experience it, if you repeat an event people complain that it’s not new.

Maybe there is a reason why other games have polls what people would like to see again
and mix it with something new ?

playing the bells at winterday and the snow globe is an all time favorite.
So why not mixing it with something new ?????

I guess this would be way to cool.

And by the way, why the heck aren’t we playing real Santa songs with out bells ????

Why are we still playing?

I figured out it’s more of a habit and it’s simply annoying me.
I did everything, i have all legendarys, dungeons done 1000’s of times
zero interest in PvP.

This game has nothing to offer anymore.
Since i am not interested in another game i spend my spare time else where.

Maybe when A-Net is deciding to go back to what made them so good
i will come back.

maybe we should compare between gw 1 developement and guild wars 2 development

Gw1 transition from prophecy to faction
20 or more new maps
tons of new monsters
2 new class
tons of new skills

this took about 1 or 2 years

GW 2 over 2 years
Redesign of the game questing and lvling
Redesign of wardrobes
1 new healing skill
1 new map and 2 new dungeons
redesign of lion arch
constant new story arc

In the end on a developement timeline its prety much similar but they have shifted focus elsewhere then on class themselves.

Not sure what to answer here…………………….

A-Net needs same developement time and ressources or even more to develope next to nothing?
1 new skill, wardrobe and text box clicking vs 2 new continents, 100’s skills and monsters………

Try that in any other company of this planet. The headoffice would be chased out witch pitch forks by the owner. Well…. maybe the ownership is the problem here.
They seem fine to kitten off all the loyal people and cater to imaginary new players

Dear lord………………

if you think these are the most urgent problems GW2 has you need some reality checks.

If i wouldn’t know better i would say this is a perfect A-Net answer.

People: we want contend. A-Net:
We agree, we will work on a wardrobe.

People: We want more skills and more game play.
A-Net: We totally agree… this armor clipping must be fixed

People: There is nothing beside farming and countless repeating
A-Net: We see this is a huge problem. Soon we will deliver a hair make over kit.

You should send your papers to A-Net they will hire you instantly

Right now we are in a position where A-Net simply and plain is repeating stuff out of
context to calm situations or hide.

everyone knows there is no new contend or any effort to change it.
Of course you get the regular answers…..
- Adding 10 minutes of text box clicking is new content.
- Some dungeons have 10 trees and flowers added or moved to another position
so those are completely new dungeons-
Dry top is a new map, doesn’t matter it usefull for players or not.

I just learned to ignore all that and lower my expectations completely.
I am not A-Nets target group anyways.

But when i went to Lions Arch in GW1 yesterday i was completely mind blown.
I didn’t have the chance to play GW1 for a longer time and was highly surprised to find LA totally overcrowded and full of life.
The chat was relaxed and people just were there for fun and excitement.
Groups were formed people goofed around and the whole experience was so incredible refreshing and reminded me why GW1 is so far superior to GW2.

Coming back to GW2 today hit me like a hammer.
People were thrown out of groups, the regular zerker crap was going on and of course
the always present mind numbing grinding mixed with the poisoned environment that
comes with all that.

Dear A-Net i am tired of hearing everything is ok with GW2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing is ok ….regardless you tell me 2456 times.

This game is a shadow of itself as well A-Net.
GW1 proved you can be on line with your customers and even topping their wildest dreams.
Listening to whatever is wanted and delivering the absolute least effort to offer something that could be considered to be related to the topic is not cutting it.

you want examples ?

People were crying for skills………… you delivered 1 new healing skill of course totally useless…….
People were crying for new contend…… you delivered Text Box clicking
People wanted new maps…… you delivererd Dry Top.
I still don’t get it. This map just exists because the event of a ship falling down.
As long as you don’t craft amber weapons or the back piece this area is so incredible useless except for …. yepp.. going back to mind less farming and angry people.
Yes it is a map but it is impossible to go there for half sane people.
Same with Sun Island. This map was created as kinda vacation area.
So why the heck isn’t there something to go on a vacation ??
No beaches to group up and hang out.. no building no activities.
It is just there and there is absolutely no reason to go there
except the daily Pinata Queen.

Dear A-Net………….
bring purpose back to the game.
Don’t create something just for the sake of people crying.
try to listen what they really want. They want adventure… excitement and epic storys.
They want to explore and discover.

It’s not that you guys even have to think, it’s all there.
Open the whole map……. there are huge dwarfen mines and halls to explore,
treasures and history is to discover, tombs to be found……..

It’s all so easy……
What about instead you do a survey with 10.000’s of people who are not playing GW2
you start a survey asking the players who actually play the game.

If you wanna ask people who are not playing, ask the guys who played GW1
and refuse to touch GW2.
These people will tell you exactly what to do. You don’t even have to be creative.

In short … don’t deliver excuses instead what people really want and stop
telling them what they should want.

GW1 made A-Net an awesome company, don’t throw this all out
for the appealing thought of getting same success without delivering at least half the effort you put in GW1.

You already destroyed the connection to the people…. don’t destroy the whole game.

How is Sword/shield Warrior crippled?
———————————————————————————————————————————————

because you do 12 points of damage and your shield skill runs for 1 second with a cool down of 3 hours not to mention that your shield push isn’t affecting any important opponents???

What are you talking about?
Warrior Sword/Shield is very effective. You can block attacks, and daze your target in combat with Shield which is vital and the Sword helps you cripple your target and do bleeding damage and jump at them when they flee. It does decent damage too.

Guardian Sword/Shield is also effective. With the Shield You can give yourself protection and reduce damage you take, Knock back enemies who are getting to dangerously close to you, Absorb Projectiles and heal yourself while the sword does Damage, Blinds enemy, and reflect projectiles as you deal damage to keep yourself safe from ranged.

Your problem is clearly a “Learn-to-play” issue.

And i “learn to play” how when thrown out of any group ??
Beside that you can’t daze opponents better than veteran.
So shield is worthless against bosses where you actually rely on a shield.

Dear A-Net,

these days i can’t anywhere on youtube without getting your ad
in my face.

Nothing wrong with it.

But how the heck can you present something that is borderline lying ?
I was witness to an epic movie battle between a player and a giant in Dry Top.
This guy was using shield and sword.

How comes you advertise shield and sword battle when this combination is absolutely crippled to almost useless ???

I am a die hard shield/sword combo guy. I love it, i live it despite knowing better.
Do you guys actually plan to change the sword or shield skills to be actually playable ??
I mean it wouldn’t that difficult… lower the cool down on shield and make it lasting little longer…….. it would be far from broken.

This is actually something i didn’t like since release of the game.
The most common weapon combo ever nerfed to being useless while heave armored
guys thrive using a wooden stick or a scepter…… really ????

At least advertise it right, don’t make the fun stuff looking cool.
In reality this warrior would hit the giant a couple of times and walk away to get another weapon…… wouldn’t this be a cool ad ???

No Expansion (in my opinion)

Kurrilino.2706

I’m afraid that No-exp might be the choice that Anet went for. Why am I afraid? Because I like the game and I see myself playing it for quite some more time. This time, however, would be greatly expanded if Anet decided for an expansion. It would bring so much life into the game, so many returning and new players.

If Anet decided to go without an expansion, they’ve ultimately doomed their own game 5 years beforehand. Such a bad call and such a shame.

And a Quiz question here:

Why do you think WoW is still the strongest MMORPG on the market, even tho it’s 10 years old?

Geez, no idea, but I do know, that the game is having it’s fifth big expansion coming out in november!

Step it up Anet, for your own sake…

really no idea ??

Same reason why McDonalds is on top or Heinz or whatever leading brand you name.

They are not the best because they are the biggest…… they are the biggest because they are the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why so many people and maybe the head of A-Net is wrong.
Using “we are not as big as Lizzrad” as excuse for the game contend is like suicide.

Do you really think Lizzard started as a world leading corporation ?
Of course not. They just presented something the people really wants and always tried to develop them self and their product.

And this is why A-Net isn’t as big as Lizzard.
They don’t care about developing. They are like Universitys.
They research more where to get the next funding is coming from instead to research something the human kind would benefit from.

But of course everyone is crying… why can’t we be Steven Hawkins ????
Easy… because he is putting effort and dedication into developing some new ground breaking theories and you guys research why people push the channel 12 button on their remote 4x more often than channel 18.

If that’s the case Anet better get used to paying its people with Monopoly money. If that’s the reality then eventually people say “That’s all? Guess we’re done here.” And leave. And take their cash shop money with them. Even the cash from China will eventually start to run out if that’s Anet’s attitude.

Exactly this is what happened.

If you follow the financial reports they are forced to present to the share holders
you notice that they have a constant decreasing income.
roughly 5 million $ every quarter from last year.

This isn’t the first time it happened and of course the head office isn’t stupid.
So they do what proved working the last time.
They pick the least effort demanding thing of all things people asking for and develop it.

You may ask now what would it be ?
A-Net already answered it in the forums… Guild halls.
But before people cry out of joy right now keep the pattern in mind.
Take the demand and offer the absolutely lowest thing possible that could be related to this topic.
Remember the riot asking for new skills ?? Look what you got
Remember asking for new maps ?
Look at Dry Top
Remember asking for a betetr story ??? Look at text box clicking

I really wouldn’t surprised if the new Guild Hall is a straight square building with orange wall papers and without any functions.

Just think about when A-Net came out of nowhere and presented something
mind blowing to the gamers….

This is why A-Net isn’t hyping or announcing anything.
There is nothing to announce.
If there would be something like that NC-Soft would hype the crap out of it.
Just look at the campaign they had for Wild Star.
No detail was left out no extra wasn’t promoted.
All these “secret expansion is in work” hopers are completely delusional.
A-Net is going with the LS and minimal efforts.

And this is the real difference to GW1. They had people who actually cared about their product and they were really good in topping the wildest dreams of the players.

I think I need to take a break...

heck i even have the fractal weapons…etc

I think they’ve been working on an expansion for 2 to 3 months now. It’s either an expansion or gw3. Either way, they’re definitively doing something because gw2 feels very still and neglected right now.

You can’t be serious…..

Let me explain something.
A-Net and especially NC-Soft are interested in making money…. nothing else.
If there would be something like an expansion or GW3 they would hype it
to nirvana.

I know people’s last hope is that there is somehthing brewing something they can hope for.
A reality checks tells us something more simple….
They don’t announce something because there is nothing to announce.
Ever thought about that ?

I know most people don’t wanna hear it. I am one of these people.
But it is what it is. The head office have this illusion of feeding the people barely enough to keep them from quitting.
This is the big difference to GW1 where they did everything to please the customers and even trump the wildest dreams of the players.
If you ask for something in gw2 you get the bare minimum that could even considered
to relate to what was asked for.

I guess it is easier for everyone of us to realize that there will be mini maps added without any connection to anything just say… “you guys got what you wanted”.

You guys remember asking for new skills ?
We got new skills… sure every class got a single one and they are utterly useless….
but A-Net can say they are listening to people and added contend.

You guys better get used to it

If y’all so love GW1 why don’t you leave and play that?

Because the devs dropped GW1 and just have it running in the background because they are forced by law.

As soon as someone announces that GW1 is back on track and they go back developing stuff, GW2 will be a ghost town

Even if 10% of the population went back, Guild Wars 2 wouldn’t be a ghost town. But you’re assuming most people playing Guild Wars 2 now played and liked Guild Wars 1. That might well not be the case.

I seriously doubt people who didn’t play Guild Wars 1 during the day and didn’t have that warm soft spot in their heart for it, would leave Guild Wars 2 for it. The people who PvPed in Guild Wars 1 might, but I think not many of the PvE’ers would go back.

Though I might play both games if there was new PvE content in Guild Wars 1.

I am strictly PvE player and i would go back in a heart beat.
And i know many many player who would even wave back to GW2.

The way I’d compare them;
Guild Wars started with 6 classes and grew to 10 classes within 2 years, but Guild Wars 2 started off with 8 classes straight away.

First of all you had 2 classes to cross in any way you liked and wanted.
So GW1 started with 36 classes and ended with 100, GW2 still has 8……….

Did all of the combinations made sense ??? Of course.
But this was one of the best features…. and made GW1 such a success.
The freedom to pick from millions of skills and mix them with others.

GW2 took lots of these features out that made A-Net what they are.. or onced were, better said.

GW2 looks unfinished and so incredible uncreative like someone forced someone to program it. No love for the game no love for deatails and even worse completely
ignoring why people love GW1 so much

Rightly so because “being a feature in GW1” doesn’t give any validity to the idea those same concepts should be in GW2.

There tend to be two kinds of changes that get implemented: Changes that match what the devs want to see to realize the game they envision and Changes that they feel are overall beneficial to the game. People should think about that when make their suggestions. Ideas like “it’s in GW1” isn’t necessarily beneficial to a game that isn’t GW1 or that the devs don’t want to make into GW1. In fact, it’s one of the more stupid justifications I read here.

I guess you never watched the teaser before GW2 was released……………
They had the developer in there talking about
!!!!!!!!!We took the best out of GW1 and put it into GW2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

snip

I watched that teaser. It was called a teaser for a reason. That single line was in exactly one teaser that was created 2 years before this game was released. If you bought this game on that single line, I’d say the problem is yours. Why?

Because for the entire 2 years after that, Anet went into painstaking detail about almost every aspect of this game. Did we know there would be less skills? Yes. Anet said so. Did we know they’d be tied to weapons? Yes, because Anet said so. Did we know the level cap would be higher. Yes, because Anet said so. Did you know there would be no heroes and henchmen, yes, because Anet said so.

Anet provided tons of detail about the game after that single line, and they had a beta, which you could have participated in to see even more.

I’m sorry but if you’re talking one line out of one video and saying that one line convinced you to buy the game, that’s your own lookout.

I watched the same video and I bought the game and I’m happy with it. Because I always watched the videos that came after.

No worries i watched the videos.
If you want an example there was the Ranger gameplay trailer.
They used the feature of a salamander creating a line of fire to make me light my arrows, to point out how creative and fun all the new stuff is.
Have you ever played with a salamander pet ??
It has now a little cloud of fire breathing at the opponents.

This was actually one more reason for me to buy the game since i love Rangers.

There is so much in their trailers that has been removed forever that makes me feel
betrayed and no, this is not my fault.
They presented stuff to me that isn’t true and borderline lying

Eye of the North had 18 dungeons. Guild Wars 2 has 8 dungeons with at least 4 paths each, so that’s 33 dungeons and 15 fractals.

Try to argue like this in a real world with people who are not minor gamers.

With that logic i could sell my house as 10 houses.
Because i have 10 rooms and every room has his own entrance despite being in the same house.

If these pathes count as own dungeons how comes all pathes in Twilight Arbor get the same tokens and you cna buy the same armor or weapons doesn’t matter you played path 1 or 4 ??
Just because i turn left the 1st time and right on the 2nd time doesn’t mean i am in a different dungeon.

Really………….. A-Net loves to have people who argue like that.
That takes the focus away from what crappy product they present.
I can’t belive you even try to twist the reality to make it fitting.

Using the method of dividing dungeons into many dungeons EOTN had maybe 150 dungeons

Why ppl always post negative things about a top MMO lol? This is a hater job, are you a hater or a good player? This is a question you should ask before posting only negative things about a game. You cant say they arent trying to improve the experience, compared to other companies that dont try at all.

The people just want to be heard.
And yes most of them feel betrayed and being tricked in.
A-Net announced before release that they took the best from GW1 and
added new ideas to make it awesome………..

And yes… i feel betrayed and even worse tricked out of my money.
And if i have to listen now that GW2 is not GW1 and it is a complete different game,

And let’s not even get to the topic “Top MMO”

This was for me like for many GW1 vets THE reason to buy the game.
What A-Net delivered is something completely different.
I don’t even know why they give it the name GW beside to trick the GW1 guys in.

Let’s face it….
If we go by popularity the best things in GW1 were:
- Skills to choose from and the freedom to build whatever build you want… no limits
- Crossing classes
- Weapons NOT tied to skills except a few
- Dangerous monster groups that needed planing and knowing what to do
- PvP integrated in open maps like the Jade See.
- PvP that actually made sense
- Customizing of the heroes
- Customizing your weapons and Armor in a way that makes sense
(Like elemental sword pommel + Fire resistance hilt to tank fire damage)
- And last but not least GUILD HALLS !!!!!!!!!! Because it’s named GW for a reason.
- Different Scenery and classes coming with it (Cantha, Elona,Kryta)
- Much Much more

All that made GW1 the most epic online game ever and they had huge success.

Really and now you come here and tell the people how do they dare asking for these awesome GW1 features ???
How do they dare they are betrayed by the developer ????

Btw….. what all that has to do with Mounts is far beyond me.
Make mounts cosmetic for people who want them but keep way points like they are.
No reason to really fight about it

-wandering through magnificent cities……….
Maybe i have a different view of “wandering” or “Cities”
But walking through Jennah Town needs 30 seconds and and where the other magnificent cities are must be explained to me. They can’t talk about the Charr or Asura blob of city. Beside that… isn’t kind of life going on required to call it a city ?

This a really good one. I am extremely encouraged to explore… but there is nothing to explore since 2 years ?
I really like that GW2 is designed to encourage… but you guys should also deliver something to explore.

All this makes me actually sad because it shows what potential GW2 has but sadly it’s completely wasted. Nothing feels really done and more like someone was forced to do it instead having passion and excitement.
Mix that with the level of quality GW1 veterans are used to and you get a dangerous mix of disappointment and anger.

The A-Net head should really take a look at their own commercial and think about what product they actually throw at us.
Maybe it’s time to face the truth and admit that they can’t handle it and make way for
some old GW1 staff and people who actually care

sincerely,
A man who believed in A-Net after a world shaking ground breaking GW1

uhmm………. 0 people supporting this thread isn’t looking good.

LS2 is completely different from LS and much much better but still is really bad.
It’s like they started from -50 and manged to reach 23 on a scale of 100.

The story is flat and a bad copy from Eye of the North like Zaithan was.
Only difference to Zaithan is that they even tried to make something happen.
At least you kind had a journey to get the group together.

This LS is like clicking through text boxes until boss fight.
They could even get something out of this flat story but it’s actually the whole presentation that destroys everything.

Building an epic sword by dumpster diving to get the parts is kinda insulting.
Instead of an epic journey to find the parts in ancient parts of the world we dig in rubble right beside regular houses….. awesome.
Followed by my absolute favorite the summoning:
Me: Please help us defeat the Dragon
Jennah: But what about my people ???
Me: Dragons are really bad
Jeannah: Good point, i’m in.

This reminds me of a low quality porn movie dialoque……….

And it’s not just that it’s so many different things that leaves you behind thinking
that they absolutely don’t care and someone was actually forced against his will to create a living story…….. no love, no detail and absolutely zero fun.

Why GW2 just isn't working

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kurrilino.2706

Kurrilino.2706

Part of what made GW1 so great was the story. And GW2 is finally building on that aspect. That is the only area where I felt something was missing in GW2 at launch. But now that they’re adding depth and breadth to the game’s story, I think GW2 is coming into its own. If you don’t want to be along for the ride, then… don’t.

- Zaithan comes and turns living beings into minions.
- Heros of the world doesn’t want to work together
- You make them fight together
- Defeat the dragon

Next:
- Another Dragon comes and turns living beings into minions.
- Heros of the world doesn’t want to work together
- You make them fight together
- Defeat the dragon

Next:
- Another Dragon comes and turns living beings into minions.
- Heros of the world doesn’t want to work together
- You make them fight together
- Defeat the dragon

I am sure this is what you are talking about when A-Net adds depth and breathing into
the story.
All that is so incredible flast and uncreative. The only thing that keeps me from rioting
is that we know these are not the same people from GW1.

Sad days

This !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still play GW1 and feel the same.

For any reason they did the exact opposite of their GW2 trailer video.
This one where they say they take everything good from GW1 and mix it with new awesome ideas.

What they actually did is they too everything cool from GW1 out of the game and mixed it with some new but not working ideas.

Please A-Net i beg you…….

Bring back
-Multiple skills to choose from
-Bring back death penalty
-Bring back Monster Necros who raise stuff from our bodys
-Take away reviving from everyone but Guardian and Necro
- Bring back Cantha and Elona

this is the only thing i see making this comunity great as it onced was

Hey A-Net guys …………………..

I was just wondering how you guys get the idea that new players will stick longer to the game with the new starting contend ?????

If i assume i am a new player who looks for a quality game and lock into GW2.
I get exiting after i had this great character creating experience.
And what do i have to face right after ???
Dancing for cows and stroking corn ………………..
I would turn off the game instantly and never ever touch it again.
Don’t you guys have any quality management ???
I don’t even want to mention how “unlucky” the activity of “F-ing” cows is who send a lot of love to you after you F-ed them.

Official point of view:

Yeah we thought so too. After tens of thousands of usability testers and interviews with players who tried Gw2 and left leading up to China launch both in NA/EU and in China – we learned we were wrong.

Honestly, we were kind of shocked how many systems, downed included a surprising number of players just didn’t understand. For downed, we tried a downed tutorial, building downed into the level 1 tutorial, etc. We found after usability testing with numerous different groups, the best rate of people learning and understanding it came from having it be layered complexity and the solution we went with above. Intuitively that wouldn’t have been my guess either initially, but we found people understood it better this way than all other options we tried.

This same level of testing led to the other changes as well. At the end of the day the biggest take away I’d say is: all of us, especially people who go to a reddit to discuss a game, probably know games (and Gw2) really really well. We have millions of users, and a tiny % of them frequent game forums or reddit. Just because all of us, me included, learned those systems well and thought it was all really easy doesn’t mean we are the norm

Source: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2etzxq/a_fresh_start_the_new_player_experience_in_guild/ck35771

hahahahahaha what ?????
Is this for real ???

If that is the case the GW2 comunity is entitled to handicaped passes and must be
allowed to use the blue parking zones at Wallmart

So rude. I’ll never understand thinking like this. Why do you attach your experiences on others and assume just because they don’t think, act, or operate the way you do that you are entitled to say such things as to imply people aren’t at your average level of thinking? So what if they aren’t anyway?

just for reference, there is nothing wrong with those of us who have diminished capacities in the mental health department.

What are you talking about ?????

skill 1-5 where cursor hovering explains you exactly what the skill does.
I have handicapped people around me and i call them real good friends.

But to assume someone who is able to turn on a home computer,
and handles windows well enough to install games,
is not able to read what a skill does is insulting.
To me and also to these handicapped people.

The problem with zerker fests are that you have no alternative.
Even if you would to do something else there are no skills for that.
And of course that is on purpose for A-Net to keep build verity under control.

And well…. this leads to zerking because there is no consequence to it.

- Introduce death penalty
- Introduce back monster necros with raising abilities
- Take reviving back except Guardians and Necros
- Give changeable skills

…………….. and here we go… we have a fun game enjoyed by everyone.

Yes i can confirm this………..
German is my native language.

You start with 2 skills, everything else is locked until lvl 10.
At least this is what he said.
In general this game gets a massive dumb down.
You can’t farm materials as low levels because you cant see them directly.

I have no idea why they are doing this to to us.
the game is already for brain dead.

I guess this shows the direction we are going and it is an indicator to where the
priority’s shifted.
They gave up on the vest since there are almost not existing anymore
and totally focus on new players.
If that continues we end up with 5 fixed skills and 1 traid bar
and will be sold to Facebook.

I am highly concerned

Paying for past episodes...

I really don’t like this system. I paid for this game like everyone else, so why is it that I must pay AGAIN for content that was otherwise free to people who played it at an earlier time? I’m glad Arena Net has added the ability to replay episodes, but WHY must it be behind a pay wall?

And let me just go ahead and stop some counter arguments before they’re spewed:

Yes, I know if I played them during the 2 week period they would be free. So what? We all paid for it when we bought the game.

Yes, it’s only 200 gems or $2.50 dollars, and YES it can be earned with in game money. But why is that necessary? Arena Net lost no money because I didn’t play for a few months, so why am I being penalized.

My Friend…………………………….

You have no idea how lucky you are to not witness the past contend.
I am actually jealous of you.

sad that gw2 have such an awesome lore couldnt find away to tell it better ingame.

Maybe because the lore isn’t that great ???
Having a Dragon that turns living beings into minions isn’t the greatest
invention ever. This followed by the the next threat being a Dragon that turns living beings into minions is just aweful.
Of course having the heros always not working together and find a way to make them working together like the last dragon isn’t helping either.

Sometimes i wonder they have just 1 story writer and he is just changing the names of the dragons and hopes none of the 12 year old fanboys will notice.

We…… already knew that there were multiple dragons. They were all categorized as “elder dragons” and we knew we would have had to deal with all of them at some point in time since they are cataclysmic forces.

every pre-school child would have given the Dragons different skills or mindsets.
having 5489 Dragons and all of them are absolutely same, except the color, is really not appealing to me. Or anyone i know.
There is no problem with dealing with them but for god sakes make a different story for each of them.

How comes we had dragons in GW1 and still had great storys without dragons going on ???

the ncsoft finacial report surprised me alot

Ok.. here is some break down from someone who comes from the financial sector.

A downgrade from 30 to 25 million is not slight downgrade.
It is a little under 5%

For people who don’t care it is not looking too much.
But if we keep in mind that the chinese launch created at least 6 million more accounts
this number is devastating.
I don’t know how many of them are really active but the fact that GW2 accounts almost doubled and create 5 million $ less is a horrible sign for the financial
aspect of the game and raises red flags.

I agree with most poster here who say the Gem Store items are incredible bad
and even if you want to spend money you can’t find something you like.
The game taking the opposite direction to what the fans want isn’t helping either.

if u check the report again u will find the chinese launch does not account in the 25million of Q2, its account for loyalty fee which is prepaid to ncsoft maybe in 2013.and report did say thanks to Wildstar in EU/NA and gw2 launch in china blah blah blah.there is a growth in whole of gw2 for ncsoft but not in the 25million cuz it doesnt make sense if they put china release into 25million and said thanks to it we get 25million from gw2 and it help us increase revenue but its not as much as it sold in Q1

Wait a minute… maybe i haven’t been clear.

This report DOESN’T include Chinas box sales.
But it includes all transactions made at the Gem Store.
And that also includes chinese accounts buying there.

So it’s not ajust a slight drop in gem store sales, it’s also dropping wiht having more active accounts.
That is what i tried to point out.
And if the number who are rumored are correct and NC-Soft just sold 1 million
accounts in china we are in trouble.
I expected at least around 6 millions

the ncsoft finacial report surprised me alot

Similarities between GW2 and GW1

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kurrilino.2706

Kurrilino.2706

I hope you realize that Eye of the North was supposed to be the prequel to GW2. Primordus was introduced to show what you would be doing in GW2 = hunting the Elder Dragons. That was not stealing, it was paving the way as an introduction to GW2. Get your facts straight.

I guess you missed the point of repeating the same story over and over again.
They can have 2567 Dragons in GW2 announced by GW1.
I really don’t care.
The sad thing is the story repeating.

Obviously not a fan of fantasy or science fiction or you’d know this. There are only so many plots. That’s it.

So we knew there were six elder dragons. We knew they were awakening. Logic would then dictate that we have to kill six elder dragons.

It’s not much different from most fantasy and science fiction. The difference is we also had some some plots here that are interesting, including the much maligned Scarlet. The Zephyrites and their connection to Glint. There’s been a lot of side stuff that’s pretty interesting, down to the ley lines.

Way to trivialize a plot and try to say that it’s copied from Guild Wars 1. In fact, the only dragons I remember facing in Guild Wars 1 were Glint, who was an allie, and the Kunnevang who was an ally.

Almost every plot can be boiled down to one of seven things (some people claim 14). There are more than 14 games, hence plots have to get reused.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Seven_Basic_Plots

Well GW1 had tons of Dragons around and still had descent plots without them.
-Rurik was entertaining because it led to an epic journey.
-Shiro wasn’t really the bad guys he was just influenced by the crystal ball lady. Also connected to a journey.
-Abadon was my least favorite but mostly because i didn’t like the nightmare lands.
The story itself was enjoyable.
In all these story i couldn’t find a single “let’s get a group”, “they don’t want to”,
“we make them”, “group defeats” cliche stuff

Shiro Tagachi is pretty mean and evil.
We need help. What about them Kurzicks and Luxons? They’re pretty powerful.
But they hate each other :o
Oh, let’s help them and get them to work together.
Now we’re all friendly, let’s go kill Shiro.

Oh noes! Varesh beat the Sunspears and is awaking Abaddon!
We need help. What about them Vabbians? They might be useful.
But they’re lazy and complacent.
Let’s show them the error of their ways and get them to help us.
Oh look! That enemy general and those centaurs. They want to help us too? Sweet.
Now we’re all friendly, let’s go re-imprison Abaddon.

Yeah… none of that ever happened…

Well all of that is by miles better than:

-Text Box Queen Jennah:
What about my people ???
Text Box you:
But Dragons are bad
Text Box Jennah:
Thats true, lets fight them

-Text Box Norn Guy
“We have to much to do with Svanir’s guys
Text Box You:
“But Dragons are bad”
Text Box Norn Guy:
Right, let’s fight them
ect.etc. ….

wow…………….. epic gaming experience

Do you really compare that to Rurik, Shiro and Abadon ????
And i guess we ignore that Luxon and Kurzick was a story about their sacred items…

congratulations, you found the worst part in LS2 but it was so bad i have to grin a bit (and the rest of the story is way better)

I had to grin to. Especially with Jennah.
What did she think is she invited to summit for ????

But there is more to it. An episode ends with a Charr jumping into a portal following his super sword and the next episode never ever touches it again ?
Instead you are going to a party and listen to rumors about Jennah……. epic

Am I the only one?

When you go to a forum remember 2 things:

2. Most of the complainers are people who have gotten a little too comfortable in the ‘give’ society. They paid for a game, and a game they got. Everything that came after the release were free extras. People think they are entitled to this free stuff and think they have the right to complain about it.

Sadly, this forum is oversupplied with the first

Gosh.. this is so wrong i don’t even know where to start.
If a game advertises itself as an ever evolving world where every day is different to the
day before, people are entitled to ask for that. Easy and plain.

A wardrobe and more colors for commanders are hardly an ever evolving game.
They also advertise that everything is about me and all changes involve me.
I am no commander and neither do i use the wardrobe…..
So where are my changes and my ever evolving world ?????

I can tell you thousands of people think like that.
And that is why there are so many complainers.
