This is nice and grats op but it’s just sad to see ppl giving silly reasons to try and say shatter is bad nothing was nerfed for shatter other than mirror blade ( was needed) in the past and with the addition of chrono and shield imo its even better condi is simply safer to play and has more sustained survival along with other things but those being its key points. As for some saying high risk low reward that makes no sense when you can pretty much catch someone in a stunlock and blow them up high risk high reward.

If anything the most important part of info you gave out Op was playstyle far to many times ppl will just rush into fights without thinking of cds what your facing environmental awareness teammates the list can go on and on.

Ppl live and die by whats meta far to much to the point they don’t know how to switch in and out utility or entire builds based on what they’re up agasint.

availability of rev healer?

Thx for offering opinions. I’m still very interested in building such a “non-mainstream” healer. So….any more ideas about the status choice? Is concentration necessary for sustaining boons?(since Gallrock is running full cleric)
Thx again~

No you really don’t need concentration. All boon duration that you’d want comes from food , runes and the herald trait line.

Magis is taken mostly on druid so that your toughness doesn’t mess up aggro on bosses where it matters. In our case you’ll mess up aggro anyways because of hardened foundations, so you might as well tank too (clerics also gives a 20% higher damage).
On invocation vs devastation devastation increases your personal DPS more and it also gives you assassins presence. Invocation can be taken if you already have assassins presence and haven’t capped might (shared empowerment, sigil of strength and rolling mists).
Zealots is really “meh” your damage won’t really be high and your healing will take a massive hit, it’s also expensive.

Question, wouldn’t it be a good idea to take shrouded mists from invocation for more healing towards allies?

Raid healing

Lalainnia.3598

It works but its clunky and feels unfinished. Revs out heal sustain wise both druids and eles the main issue is that the majority of the healing potential is all super close melee 240 radius and is way to heavily dependent on resources. they can also give out boons and boon duration switching into herald during low periods but those are most likely to be covered by someone else or multiple people to cover x boon just through passive actions without giving up or trait for something specific.

Balancing Revenant : Give more Condi Clears

Lalainnia.3598

Revs imo are perfectly fine as in they’re powerful and have multiple uses. The other legends could use work without a doubt. What is currently crazy though when it comes to condi specs in spvp is that they hit outright hard in all areas necros and warriors being the biggest culprits ( mesmers a bit too) they have high power damage on top of high condi pressue all while having great self sustain. the condi specs most commonly used sit at 2k power or more. I think that’s something that should be looked at.

Give us more ways of dealing with condi pls.

in Revenant

Lalainnia.3598

Revs variety comes from the fact that they can switch legends giving them total access to 2 heal skills 6 utility skills and 2 elite skills that in itself is build variety by picking which 2 legends you want to utilize, at the same time it keeps it simple by not having to actually pick your utility skills in a dropbox before fighting. Could possibly being up the argument that its a poor mans eng kit or ele attunements but those 2 classes aren’t able to wep swap.

Another question is what exactly would revs want done to improve condi cleanse that is honestly already there just that its in different legends something would have to be given up obviously and i highly doubt it would happen but if revs could what would they give to obtain decent condi cleansing in glint or shrio?

Give us more ways of dealing with condi pls.

in Revenant

Posted by: Lalainnia.3598

Lalainnia.3598

I dunno tbh I think everyone uses glint because of the main first reason being the passive boon loving and shrio literally because of its control and quickness/superspeed uptime its very physically aggressive and its outright weakness are condis both the legends and traits. Dwarf, centaur, and demon legends and the respective trait lines all have methods to deal with condis very well. What’s prob lacking are weps that can remove them but can’t have everything. The

The bugs do need to be fixed though but there really isn’t anything currently thats game breaking to the point the legend/traitline is not use able if condis honestly are such an issue for roaming in wvw for revs change from the typical (spvp) meta shiro/glint build.

Really though from reading, the majority of this thread people simply want the condi removal tools to be put into shiro and glint I highly doubt that will happen.

Give us more ways of dealing with condi pls.

Lalainnia.3598

I don’t agree with all of this personally that rev lacks condi cleanse it really doesn’t, The only real issue is that glint legend/herald and shrio/ devestation have well near none. Almost every single rev you see these days goes around running with either of these. Conditions just happen to be the weakness of these 2 legends is all.

Reworking condi damage on the other hand is something that can and should be looked at though, especially application for certain things mainly eye balling mesmers and confusion sadly and give them a small check similar to what reapers had with the abundant access it had to chill before. As for burning I’m not exactly sure how to feel about this but the only classes imo if they run no sigil and such that can hide burning behind other condis are warriors and engs and have it at a high enough stack that its deadly. Could say ele and guardians apply massive stacks of burning but for me personally im ok with that as it tends to be their only real condition damage and they have to invest pretty heavily for it giving up something else to take such things.

This is the biggest thing I think and should be addressed. Gearing is very very crucial in wvw along with traiting skills okittennowing how to play is crucial but gearing is beyond important a lot of “blob” or even roaming fights tend to go down hill very fast because you might half have a blob in full dps sets.

While I’m all for trying different areas of content and making sure ppl are exposed to those areas it should at least be possible to obtain said gears in wvw.

If you are going to pug, will most likely have to play within that mindset or start your own pug raid with detailed info on what you want and needed.

Seeds of Life Issue

Lalainnia.3598

I agree with the seed being a bit too slow to fully blossom but that’s it the nerf that brought it from 2 condi cleanses down to 1 is fine and not game breaking the seed heals lets off a small heal/blind LIGHT FIELD and lowers glyph cd by 20%. Honestly tho do rangers/druids really lack condi cleanse power period? Rangers/druids as a whole just might be the best possible class when it comes to clearing condis on a consistent basis sure you may have to invest in it by taking X utility or Y trait-line but when it’s combined it’s something beautiful.

For the people that might say I can’t take all the necessary trait-lines or utility in my so and so build for condi clear that’s what trade offs are called.

Absolutely agree with the seed triggering faster though.

So yes it’s worth it to play condi eng and it’s worth it to play power eng.

All these changes to me make sense except for the smokescale bite nerf.

Seed of life change is fine not rangers/druids really lack condi cleansing tools anyway.

Anceint seed change is a fix to something that obviously wasn’t intended I would personally rolf whenever it happened and it was well near a perfect kill setup for other teammates to take advantage of.

Lunar impact hurts a bit but it makes sense was easily too strong especially with quickdraw as someone else mentioned its a Blast finisher that heals and dazes that was on a 5 second cd. Put this in combination with druids other lockdown capabilities and it could be pretty nasty.

Bite nerf doesnt make sense to me personally.

Takedown fix didn’t even know it was unblockable good change. (not that we have actual control over it)

Bristleback one is a lil odd and didn’t know it was kittened that much. less projectiles is a bit annoying as someone else mentioned can all be dodged now but it’s more likely to follow targets now as it was pretty easy to just side step it.

If anything that personally shocked me was that druids had the most stuff, change wise on the list for the new season, was expecting guardians to have the most tweaks and more bigger change on revs

It’s not even that bad simply because the main loss is something like 560 toughness or vital those 2 were the main selling points of that amulet You got moderate def and more hp without giving up raw power or condi damage and sense some condi specs don’t need precision to apply condi pressure or bomb someone it was a win win without any trade offs. Druid imo between pet control, supporting teammates locking down targets and ensuring your own survival I find that pretty difficult along with how longbow 3 2 and 4 work when it comes to the angle you’re on.

Thief in my eyes really comes down to mindset because even if u were to build tanky which from what ik doesn’t work very well if at all you still have to know when to be super aggressive or not like any other class its just stressed for thief. Otherwise you almost have full control over how you set the fight can escape almost at will, I personally see a great deal of thieves thinking they can duke it out in team fights without proper support I really don’t think that’s their strong point. Even in team fights I feel as though they need a marked target go in poke poke poke get out repeat when ready or switch objectives.

As for scrapper I really think that just comes down to learning what each ability does. As they really have something for everything plus the self boon output is very high on numerous boons.

Core eng is similar to scrapper but on a lesser degree which is to be expected as its an expansion profession same thing happens in any other game only thing is when will they be reworked/tunned down.

I really don’t agree with mesmer at least condi mesmer as you can pretty much go in and press random buttons and do pretty well granted u have the right gear set up. As you get better and learn how the class works and other classes weakness it only gets better. Imo it falls into that good when u pick it up and amazing when you learn it.

What exactly are they lacking in are ppl upset just because portal and moa have shown to be key parts to the build and simply want to use something else. Its not like they’re even weak agasint consistent condi cleansing because no amount of condi cleansing can keep up with the actual application as most condi cleansing tool cds are far longer when compared.

Almost everything needs re tuning, games currently in a total power creep among most classes. The place to start imo would be rev hopefully though if or when it happens its all done at once so the checks made to balance rev will also come with checks to balance reaper, scrapper etc.

Outside of all that though its very easy to see that revs are the big dog on top of the multiple powerhouse options available in the game atm.

Scrappers needs NERF.

Ya know personally I see people talk about scrapper and reapers and tempests and even condi mesmers or DH traps. Yet no one seems to talk about rev’s, at least to me this class is what turns the tides in any fight especially team fights to the point its insane and beyond annoying on top of the boons and crazy mobility. So while i agree everything is in a power creep scrappers need some tuning down I really think people should look at revs.

Imo it’s thieves worst class match up especially 1v1 gets even worse if they’re using rise up I’m not trying to be a negative nancy but imho currently how the game is at this point and time it’s almost impossible to beat a reaper that has cds up and is semi competent

Not only does thief have pretty lousy access to meaningful condi cleanse there hp is to low to duke it out with a reaper, and while reaper really doesn’t have much to disengage fights with it has no need to vs a thief. So ultimaetly my advice is legit avoid them if possible or go in with another person if solo try to draw them off a point is the most useful think to do pretty much.

For starters if u can avoid using a longbow vs a scrapper most always take bulwark gyro which takes 50% of inc damage and can be used while cced. Then they have a reflect with the toolbelt skills that can be used while cced and it lasts 5 seconds on a 25 second cd. The other reflect is Electro Whirl a hammer skill on a 6 second cd that reflects missiles back the tell for it is they get a yellow ball around them the reflect lasts about 2 seconds. also deals a nice chunk of damage without the reflect portion.

Next try to interrupt Healing turret most scrappers take this because of its condi cleanse (2) will most likely be used to combo with Rocket Leap which is a triple leap combo and evade on a 12 sec cd into a detonate turret for literally a heal to full. Some will use the medic gyro which is impossible to intterupt but it has no condi cleanse. Also healing turret is on a 20 second cd if blown up and 14 sec cd if picked up plus it can heal up to 5 allies within the raidues

Most scrappers tend to open with thunderclap which is a Lighting field that stuns for 1 second and does damage 6x the field lasts 6 seconds and has 1.200 on a 24 second cd the tell for thunderclap is when they raise their hammer in the air a lot of scrappers will typically rocket leap from there to get 3 daze strike combos off and finish by going into a Electro whirl for brutal bolts.

Shock Shield is a block that lasts for 2 seconds and deals damage to enemies within 170 range while also applying 10 vul if all hits connect its on a 20 second cd and can be used offensively or defensively.

Elixir gun is the kit that everyone should be weary of.

Tranquilizer dart is a 900 range 20% projectile finisher that applies 1 second of weakness and a bleed. Some scrappers will open with this to try and bait out a dodge to thunderclap or apply some weakness before committing to full melee.

Next is glob shot it has 900 range and bounces 3 times crippling foes for 3 secs and granting swfitness for 3 sec the cripple is most likely to go up to 6 seconds due to the bounce in a 1v1 scenario. Glob shot is somewhat slow and will most likely be used in melee range to make sure it hits It looks like a ball of glue it has a 8 second cd. This move is also used to bait out a dodge for thunderclap.

Next is Fumigate 450 range applies 5 stacks of vul and posion for 2 seconds its on a 12 second cd mostly applied when everything else is on cd or they want poison on a target. The real power behind this move is that over the 2 second channel it cures 5 conditions on allies only which is very strong.

Acid Bomb is there in a way deadly disengage it can honestly be used offensivly or defensviely it has a 12 second cd and grants 2 might (traited) Its a 500 range leap back that deals significant damage over 6 seconds its also unblockable and and blast finisher so expect to see this used in some sort of field.

Last of the elixir gun skills is Super elixir which heals for about 800 on impact and then 200 per pulse pulsing up to 13 times. Super elixir is also a light field that lasts for a whooping 12 seconds and cures 1 condition for 5 targets in the impact zone which is 240 radius this skill also has 900 range and a 16 second cd when traited. the toolbelt skill is a stunbreaker on a 24 second cd that grants regen 2 stacks of might and removes a condi when traited.

Lastly most take slick shoes which is a knockdown for 2 secs and leaves a trail of glue behind them its unblockable and on a 45 sec cd. its either used as a disengage or lockdown for a kill. The toolbelt skill is 5 seconds of superspeed that breaks stuns on a 25 second cd.

I would go into more detail like the specializations and amulets runes etc but im sleepy hope this helps,

I’m really confused here so something that was considered weak is suddenly good or above average because a great player is using it and its not listed as “meta”? I’m not sure but to me it seems like a lot of the forum base on this game struggles greatly with just saying someone is a really good player, and just say a build is useless or op when it has disadvantages and advantages.

Let me try and explain the thought process behind running that mesmer.

The team noted the utility of portal. It’s potentially an extremely strong, even gamechanging, utility, so they wanted it on their team. Unfortunately, they need a mesmer to use it. They tossed out power mesmer as unviable, tank mesmer as unviable, interrupt mesmer as unviable, and settled upon condie mesmer as the best bet for a build that could accomplish something and still have portal on the bar.

Clearly, that bet didn’t pay off. The condie mesmer was useless and portal barely got used. The only reason a mesmer was picked was for portal, and the only reason condie mesmer was picked was because it was the best shot at being useful.

Mmmmm portal was used not effectivley for the team because they were pretty spread out due to what was going on but it was used and effectleviy for what was needed at the times and that was to cap nodes which partially worked. I’m not really sure how its possible to make a judgment on the mesmer being useless based off what was overall better team play by 55. To say mesmer was useless in those games doesn’t feel right to me as the whole team felt and played off tempo with each other.

Thanks again for those inputs. Good ones. But what do you like most of those:

Elixier Gun
+ Mobility with Acid Bomb if you take a cannon, want to eveade the flame wall or when you want to use it for damage on Sabby and jump to the Flame turrets / vice versa.
+ Small heal with Super Elixier + Healing Mist.
+ Barely useful Stunbreak.
- Damage only for melee.

Rifle Turret
+ Great damage for melee and ranged.
+ CC (knockback).
- Nothing else … :/

Flame Thrower
+ Great ranged damage.
+ CC (knockback).
+ Small blind.
- Terrible melee damage.

Tool Kit
+ Good melee damage.
+ CC (pull), also able to pull thugs who might be dangerious for Druid / cannon runners.
+ Medium ranged damage.
+ 3s block.

What would YOU pick for Sabetha?

I think you should relax tbh and I mean that in the kindest way possible gonna give yourself a headache you obviously put in a amazing amount of time and effort to think of all this situations and that’s what imo makes eng so great its versatile you literally answered your own question in the post above it depends on what you have available and whats needed.

I love the discussions about DPS where no one brings data. Nothing like having a discussion about a quantitative aspect of the game … qualitatively.

Can anyone tell us where Mesmer ranks currently, using meta build (or whatever you want to call it) for DPS in a team-instance content, like raids or dungeons?

BTW, the OP didn’t even specify what kind of PVE content he’s talking about so there’s that as well. I know all the pro people are going to simply assume he’s talking raids but the simple nature of his post gives me the suspicion he’s not.

I believe I’ve seen Pyro and a couple of others do number crunches off hybrid mesmer.
And the max damage was 17k DPS, if I remember correctly.
Trying to find the threads, haven’t found them yet.

The flaw here, is if he isn’t talking about raids, mesmer is horrible at trash mobs.
You won’t get anywhere near the 17k DPS mark, as you need your 3 phantasms to hit that.

If its trash mobs would’nt it just be best to shatter or is shatter that weak?

The nerf mesmer needed

Lalainnia.3598

The nerf it got to alacrity many disagree with yet there’s one way that everything coulda been fixed in the first place.
I’ve said it a dozen times now. But the alacrity change obviously is gonna be an issue.
Yet all that woulda needed to be done “without breaking mesmer yet maintaining a nerf to alacrity” would be to nerf alacrity that is shared with teammates down to 33% and keep the alacrity on self at 66%.
Bam. Now all mesmer builds still work but bunker isn’t as effective.

Let’s blow this post up and hopefully get anet to notice.

I’ve seen this suggestion a thousand times, and I’m tired of it now.

Here’s why it’s bullkitten:
1. Chrono Bunker was strong LARGELY BECAUSE OF THE SELF-ALACRITY, NOT BECAUSE OF THE GROUP ALACRITY. Your change would only affect Chrono in PvE.
2. Chrono Bunker WAS ALREADY CLOSE THE GROUND THANKS TO THE QUICKNESS CHANGES. The most powerful thing it had, was the ability to come into a fight & stomp someone out/res the whole team very rapidly.
Otherwise, there were a few builds in this game that could 1v1 it and win. Namely, any Reaper build in this game…

No, what ANet actually needs to do, is get their hand out of their bum, revert the freaking resistance nerfs to kitten no one would ever seriously run outside of WvW.

ACTUALLY Rework staff & scepter to be viable weapons. Making it so that staff is a hybrid power/condi weapon.

Rework the 3 trash tier off hands mesmer has. Delete the crappy phantasm on torch.

Give us another freaking main-hand weapon. Power OR Condi would be very much appreciated. As both only have 2 “viable” “main hands” (Including 2h weps).

Buff some of our useless utilities, like mirror images. Why is this on a 45 second cooldown, yet decoy (which is stronger) is on a 40 second cooldown?
Why does precog still have a cast time?
Why are the wells cooldowns untouched?
Why are our Chono Traits untouched?
Why is timewarp, despite being severely weakened in most game modes, still on a 180 second cooldown. Despite that Gravity Well, an easily argued stronger elite, is on a 90 second cooldown?
Hey, we just buffed the kitten out of boon corrupt Necro. Can arcane thievery get some mother kittening love?
Can we replace phantasmal defender with something actually useful?
Can we get rid of some of the weird kitten after cast delay on our skills? Seriously, has anyone else noticed that sword 2 has an after cast in which you can’t dodge or do anything initially, unless you cancel the attack slightly early?

Have I made my point yet, are we about done?

Mesmer is one of the clunkiest classes in this bloody game. That takes ridiculous concentration and luck to even accomplish anything on, when compared to other classes that take none of that, and yet hit harder.

And that’s not to say that other classes can’t make similar lists. Holy kitten I know they can.
But that doesn’t hurt my argument. Only help it.
ANet hasn’t actually balanced the game, or brought us any build variety.

All they’ve been doing, has been removing build variety step by step. Shifting the meta to make it look like they’re doing something good. “listening to the community”

No new content created this imo, and the people that farmed the crap out of this to the point they knew when x was going to happen at y and if you stand at z while the wind is just right x won’t even happen. They went so try hard crazy (lack of new pve content) and made up speed runs for themselves which honestly is the saddest thing ever(lack of new pve content again). What works in speed runs optimization! they took the best of every possible thing and meshed it together for max damagez with the highest possible efficiency and speed.

Problem was when all these people started getting fed up with anything less (non guilde/friend runs shocker…) that they felt as though it was something everyone should do and it eventually became the base for everything. Biggest thing that was left out was how many times all these pros which they actually are no sarcasm there, had to redo, die or outright fail, before learning and putting in the time to memorize all the mechs of a fight to the point its second nature.

Pretty much imo it’s the games fault for not having new content and the top tier players for not describing the process of how metazerk actually came to be which involves a ton of knowing almost exactly every single mech from countless time spent on content or certain features that make things considerably easier. The actual metazerk by using ABC classes with these runes and this utility for max damage is awesome, but it shouldn’t be something expected of everyone and that’s the point the game is at.

Is there a reason Napalm Specialist doesn’t work with flamethrower #1 or #4? I thought it was suppose to apply 3 secs to all burns we apply it works on other burn moves is this a bug or does it just not apply to flamethrower?

I would be surprised if it wasn’t overpowered it’s a new class Anet is going to want people to play it what better way to do that then make it op? If anything I’m just curious how op it will be lol.

I wouldn’t be surprised if every class gets some level of access to slow I can see warriors getting it with a shout or banner, thieves with some sort of poison or trap, eng so many possibilities. Ranger most likely a pet move, Necro just yes. Ele and guardian are prob the only two I personally don’t see getting slow, but definitely resistance. As for getting rid of illusions I really don’t think that should happen if anything it should all be combined imo and stick illusions into the dueling tree and combine or movesome of the traits like deceptive evasion is beyond fundamental to the way Mesmer works and should become the first point for dueling or illusions. Chronomancer is a great idea I just think illusions should stay with Mesmers no matter the course they take. As for mantras to be more effective they could use some sorta of trait to give stability while channeling aegis retaliation something better than toughness otherwise mantras are nice its just Mesmers need to sacrifice a lot of something to get there currently they can have 3 charges instead of the normal 2 and give 4% damage for each readied mantra, and cleanse a condition with each heal of the healing manta in 1 build. Not to mention there are other mantra builds to boot.
