Exploit or not, only Anet can answer as the current population system allow this to happen (which I hope Anet clarify this problem (including why they choose dynamic population system to determine population of the server according the number of player which are online at a given time (as EU and NA will never merged)).

Dynamic population is lovely when people DON’T cheat the system.

It allows for server population to be spread out evenly along a 24h period, because the server population will correspond to how many people play on that server in your specific time zone.

Yes, in a way it is cheating the system if you transfer to a server at 6am when you know the amount of people online is much lower at that point, because you would never play at 6am yourself.

I don’t understand how that’s an exploit. It’s just like when playing wvw. If the borderland is full, you queue until someone leaves. So for people to join a server they log out to allow their ‘space’ to be free.

It’s bad for us who WANTS to do fotm but because of disconnection issues, haven’t gotten past the 4th level yet. They should’ve waited before releasing new items for fotm to accommodate reconnection before adding new things to grind for

What I get from that is just about the term used in general and how it differs between the humans and norns.

I think they’d improve it sooner than we think. I seem to have read that other legendaries got tiny graphical upgrades since the wintersday patch. I’m not sure if it’s true though.

As of now we do not have any definite answer yet but I am very optimistic that we will have our lovely harp upgraded with fabulous effects. I want feathers or wings! Since it’s designed with birds anyway :p

I have a question for the SoS commanders, at what point numbers wise should a guild get in contact with you guys, like 10,20,30 on a map?

Screw that! Contact us when you have 2-5 people and are willing to do things like take supply camps/yak slap/ninja towers etc! The more coordinated self-driven people the better, zergs are good but can’t hold down supply camps everywhere.

If you feel like your group can do something that would help the cause let a commander know.

Is this true? I’d like to do this for me and my friends. We’re usually just a little more than a full party and I always go for flipping supply camps/luring people off of our main squad/yakslapping and escorting but I have no way of telling when the most opportune time is because I don’t want to sound imposing/self-entitled should I whisper a commander. I cannot coordinate well with large zergs and entire guild raids because of my horrible internet connection and subpar PC unit; thus I relegated myself to this job instead as it is the only viable one for me atm.

Patone gets banned rather more than usual I hear, but everytime he goes missing in action, the entire server feels it. We get actually worried when we hear rumors like this seeing that we do realize how valuable he is to the server. I heard someone even say he wants to be a commander because he was inspired by him. I really would doubt any of the legit wvw guild leaders would do this to him as he is very reputable although sometimes controversial.

The torch is rather underused atm but I find it extremely useful in PvP. It’s the only offhand that I use in PvP, I’m actually very surprised myself since I would’ve thought focus would work better with the bunker/support build I created for my toon.

IoJ has the biggest Filipino community in GW2.. I’ve been trying to find an exclusively filipino wvw guild in SOS ever since I started playing and there’s none. If any of them transferred to SOS it would help a lot for us pinoys there who are currently ‘leaderless’ and scattered.

I haven’t reached fotm level 5 yet and thus I am not able to get ascended rings yet and they’re adding more ascended items already? OMG T_T If only they fix the disconnection issue first then I would be able to farm more smoothly for my ascended equips. I feel like I’m so far behind from everyone else.. Not being able to reconnect after disconnection is really upsetting).

I can’t use any other offhand for my build aside from focus. As a hybrid phantasm build that requires me to be in melee range most of the time, temporal curtain and the reflect from wardens saves me a lot of trouble. Of course I don’t use it offensively.. My main damage comes from me and my iWarlock. It’s a tricky build that I run but effective as per my experience. It’s really a matter of gameplay. For me, I hate the pistol the most. I don’t find magic bullet all that great.

I dont give a kitten what the group of random people I belong to is called. I dont care. It isn’t demeaning, it doesn’t make me less of a good player being called a militia or a zerg or a PUG (yes I am one, I very rarely join an organized group that has TS). I don’t think anyone of us care really. Stop worrying about things that are trivial at most.

If I were you I’d go with staff+gs, but it all depends on your build.

If you go with a power+crit heavy build around phantasms and shatters, both weapons compliment eachother amazingly. GS however isnt something worth using with a condition spec. If you go for a more confusion based condition spec, use staff+scepter/focus.

Outside of condition builds focus is just trash besides skill #4, and that skill is good for covering ground or pulling people down from things.

For a power+crit build the staff and GS phantasms just hit like freight trains. Dont listen to the people that say staff is a condition weapon, it’s just as good as a direct damage weapon. You staff clones stack conditions so your warlock phantasm can hit harder. The rest of the skills are nice defensive skills with self executable combo fields and finishers, both from the staff itself and combined with the GS berserker.

Chaos Storm + Berserker = whirl finisher
Chaos Storm + Staff#2 = leap finisher chaos armor.

It’s also silly easy with staff+GS to stack up vulnerability to 25 stacks before you use your heavy hitting phanstams and mind wracks.

Personally, if traited, focus becomes a lot more important for the phantasm hybrid/melee build such as the one I’m using. I find sword and pistol to be more limited in their uses (direct damage) than the traited focus especially in groups.

Imho yea shatter build is the way to go. let ur phantasm cast its attack the first time then shatter immediately

So far I only keep on reading that the Elder Dragons’ powers “rival” that of the Six Gods, not extremely surpass them, and there hasn’t been any indication that the gods are made up of the same matter that makes up the Spirits of the Wild. They might be very different things altogether, since dragons themselves are likely ‘magical’ in composition too yet they seem to be.. quite different.

As of now, Phantasmal Haste is not worth to take considering that the illusion trait line does nothing significant for you phantasms aside from illusionist’s celerity.

Hehe guys he said he likes his focus and wants to use it as his alternate so I think we have to consider builds that can utilize the focus best.. Actually there is another option the OP can use if he opts not to take staff OR gs.. he can go ‘Shantasm’ with Scepter/Pistol and Sword/Focus (although I would prefer another sword here) although it is a bit more tricky to pull off

For Filipinos.. There are plenty of us but we aren’t united under 1 guild.. Maybe we can all establish one? Or if there’s an existing exclusive guild for pinoys from another server who is planning to transfer, please come to SOS.

JQ has definitely strengthened.. I won’t be surprised if they take the win this week.

One thing we have to consider too is that he is not willing to part with his offhand focus for his weapon alt. I used to run GS/Sword+focus and Staff/Sword+focus shatter builds and based on my experience, GS/Sword+Focus is the best combination as a shatter mes on wvw. (Osicat actually suggested that to me iirc).

As for Scepter+Focus as your alt, I think Staff/Scepter+Focus confusion/tank build is the way to go. Attached is a sample build that I think works well with Staff/Scepter+Focus

Apparently, the 3 set bonus (+50 power) doesnt take effect. One way to check it is to check your stats before and after wearing it if the +50 power adds up.

This week’s wvw is bound to get crazy! It is literally like an arms race among the T1 servers. My problem with stacking sigils is that as a glass cannon, I get downed rather quickly. I’d much rather stick to might on swap then if I want to gear towards damage.

However, I think I’ll stick to 2 sigils of energy, seeing as I am built strictly as a glass cannon phantasm mesmer.. I kill a lot slower than shatter builds and I’ll probably benefit more from being able to dodge than having my phantasm deal more damage? im still not sure though XD

Ok as per my testing in the heart of the mist, sigils of force and accuracy do not affect phantasm damage. Gaining might on the mesmer, howerver, does. So I guess I’ll replace my sigils of energy with sigils of battle and my sigil of force with a ruby orb.

I am in no way an expert in math though, so take this with a grain of salt. :X

JQ deserves better than this. Trolls are pulling their own server down.

Do the sigils of force and accuracy (5% damage and 5% critical chance) affect phantasms? If not, then I’d likely replace it with a ruby orb instead.

Also, If I have the boon might on me and summon a phantasm, will it do more damage than if I summoned it without?

Thank you for your suggestion Darksider. It is a very interesting build.. However, I am stuck with purely berserker equips atm (i can’t afford to buy another set). I’m at a loss as to what rune I should get for mesmer.. Divinity runes sound the most alluring but costs too much (i am using Ruby orbs at the moment because they provided me with the highest burst among the choices of runes when I ran shatter build, but as for my hybrid build, im not sure what I should use)

It helps to comprehend the entirety of my point (instead of taking replies out of context). Your selective attention is demeaning. I actually suggested that allowing duels in out-of-combat areas in PvE (such as the major cities and camps, although if we want to duel underwater, we should be allowed that too) as a good option for those who dislike the idea of dueling anywhere unrestricted.

My point is that a compromise can be made. I want dueling to be available, allowing me the liberty to fight someone of another race and assume dominance as per my toon’s human supremacist role play (via exclusively racial skill skirmishes) for example. I was addressing those people who would rather not have the feature at all that hasn’t provided any valid argument yet.

It seem to me that you are confusing dueling with PK. Having the option to duel doesn’t diminish the co-op nature of the game, PK does. What cataclysmic event will an option to duel someone bring really? Unwanted whispers? OMG I declined a request for a duel and now he is going to badger me about it! The world is going to end. Let’s panic. You generalize duelists with negativity senselessly.

*ALSO, most games that have duels doesn’t end with the losing player punished with exp loss or whatever. The duel just ends with the declaration of the winner. The loser only suffers a blow to his ego as the consequence. I’m sure he’ll recover.

I do think that dueling will bring an element of PK to the game.
So far the resistance to dedicated arenas indicate this to me- one poster even reasoned that the waypoint cost would be too much, that is why he wants open world PvP
I get you wanting to fight other races sure- I would like to fight other classes since my main is a Mesmer and I’m pretty sure I can take anyone 1 on 1.

I just really do not think open world PvP has a place in GW2.
Regardless of how mature many duelists are, there are just as many little trolls and they will crawl out of the woodwork just for this.

I think themed arenas in all the major cities- even with spectator option would be awesome. Kind of like the old style gladiators, with ranks etc- or not- I would support this 100%.

Thank you for clarifying. I agree that areas that have DEs and require coop shouldn’t have the dueling feature to minimize drawing ill blood among the PVE players. As per my suggestion, dueling in designated areas such as in major cities or even in an arena is the optimal choice. I’m just tired of people saying dueling shouldn’t be a feature at all.

I agree that BG has some of the best thief/eles around that I have encountered.

It seems like we are getting an update on profession specific armor skins. I would be so disappointed if they hold more prestige in terms of value/cost compared to our t3.
