I’ve only gotten to know my thief for 8 levels, but it have 4-nearly 5- level 80s. My first character was a ranger, but I disliked the pet mechanic and most weapons, so dropped it early on (level 3 lol). I then got really into

elementalist. It is my favorite class because of it’s spell aesthetics and is actually really powerful in pve (my main game mode). I then leveled a

warrior to 80, which I like but agree, it’s sort of boring to me. I do like certain weapon sets, though. I then moved onto

Mesmer, disliking it, dropped it at level 20.

Guardian was my next full level character, I love the class, but it wasn’t as mobile or as interesting to me, because of my experience as an elementalist. So she remains as my “I want to have an easy dungeon run with randoms” class. Next, I finished my

ranger, because I fell in love with the sword/axe, sword/war horn, sword/torch weapon sets and she’s a hot ticket now, surprisingly high damage, but I have to pay a lot of attention to what my stupid pet is doing. Next,

Mesmer is nearly 80, and I really loved the sword on her as well, with offhand weapons, focus, pistol, torch , combat becomes nicely varied on Mesmer.

Thief is next on my list. I gave her my legendary I made for funnzies on my birthday this year, but she’s still a baby. I really love the stealth mechanic but also the necessity for close attention. Landing a backstab on the wrong side of an enemy stinks, and knowing when to use your skills is really fun. I also adore the mobility of the thief, and is likely the only class I’ll consider taking to wvw. Daggers and swords are very fun on thieves, and despite it being lower damage, I do adore double pistols. Just because I am an RPer and I have my own idea of what my character is. Note that certain weapons become important when you get to the advanced bits of the class, such as understanding combo fields and finishers. Some weapons have utility (like thief short bow) that are specifically good in those situations.

Thieves are squishy, sure. But I do think that for the most part, their utility and mechanics even themselves out with warriors, and are fairly balanced, because of that. They are generally sought after in high level fractals and dungeons, because it isn’t all about warriors in high end pve “anymore”.

Things I really care about: aesthetics. Medium armors have some really fabulous options, but sometimes there is a lack of non trench coat styles available. But here’s my thief, looking cute,

The permanent one is no longer available. They explained that it would be reintroduced later on at special sales after the 1st week introductory sale.

You can transmute them onto white armor and they will become account bound, but you can still only use it on a toon of that race and of that armor class.

An ascended box that doesn’t drop Berserkers stats is worthless. Worthless drops are a slap in the face.

Let’s not make it into another one of those Berserker vs rest. What’s something that’s worthless to you is something awesome to someone else. And vice versa with fractal skins. What I would see a worthless skin, you would find amazing. You gotta look at it with open mind. Given Berserker stats are great for many things. But if I’d get Sentinel’s or Rampager’s ascended box, I wouldn’t crap all over it either.

Removing possibility of getting certain loot in favor of another will yield to rise of attraction to one group, but fall in appearance to another. We’re trying to get everyone happy and willing to progress, not only those trying to get that one skin. Many of us already got every skin they ever wanted. With the new “skin system” I can’t even salvage them for ectos. Hence some of them become worthless.

I agree with Romo… I mean I got a rampager weapon box, and it was fine for an alt or in my case, my underwater weapon. I wasn’t like “Awwwwww my life stinks it’s not a berserkers!” It was “wow, I’m the only party member to get one. Cool.”

The un infused rings are another story, though. I don’t see anything wrong with taking those out of the loot table 30+

How lazy are you really? If you have gold it takes maximum 30 minutes for you to get your crafting discipline to 500.

There’s the kicker. As of right now, here is what it would cost to level the professions involved in this to 500 (according to GW2Crafts.net). This is assuming you had the gold to buy all the mats at once. Not following this guide and not doing all your crafting at once will cost you more than these estimates.

Armorcrafting: 116g 81s 77c

Leatherworking: 110g 40s 46c

Tailoring: 107g 26s kitten

Huh? How are they leveling O-0… I’ve gotten 1-300 using about 10g… and making that back overnight selling the kitten I made, so really, I haven’t lost any profit………… 107g seems really excessive.

For 400-500 you use a lot of expensive materials including t6 and ectoplasm which boosts that up significantly.

That’s definitely a Lilith move. My bank is filled with the 5 piece remnants of various sets because I “needed” the such and such piece from such and such set. 3 panes of various gemstore pieces, one for light, heavy, and medium

I don’t know if it helps, but there are a couple necros posted in the dungeon forum thread “fashionable dungeon runs”. In addition, my favorite top for female norn necros is the whispers coat.

All of your stuff in your bank does go with you. Your guild perks though, do not. So if you have a guild bank filled with items, those will be left on the server you are leaving.

It’s what they’re calling a festival hat, because Grenth and Dwayna are associated with Wintersday. They were new this year, but they brought back the old Wintersday stuff (sans weapon skins and minis) and for Halloween they brought back each costume and added new ones. I highly suspect that these helms will be back come December, just make sure you have money when they come out!

I’ve been away from the game a year and came back to find dungeons are even less interesting than before. Before when I played, people only tend to find ways to skip mobs that are hard… but now, they skip everything that can possibly be skipped for completion.

The question is: why is happening when the system is supposed to be improving? We still run dungeons for tokens as before (maybe some daily achievements are a factor now). Do NPC enemies not have a chance dropping tokens or something good?

Uhhh they are Armageddon armors I think from fractals, but those are account bound, and random.

Cavalier armor can be crafted, iirc, so it’s insignia is not salvageable (these are available as random drops in fractals) I think…. But you can make or buy the insignia

Edit: my bad, you can salvage it from cavaliers armor. It is not named cavaliers, but has those stats. There are also likely dungeon armors with the stats.. If you look on the TP for the named exotic armors and see if they have exotic stats and play the salvage game. However, I recommend just buying the insignias and crafting with them

How about a charity mini Taimi or Scruffy that everyone can buy and a free one to Christina as the person whose story inspired the idea?
Maybe she could get one in a different colour? Or maybe hers could have a different name e.g. “Christina’s Scruffy”.
That’s not too special that people could complain about it being unfair and not too different that it involved too much extra work.

Edit: please keep in mind that people aren’t saying she should get anything because she has a disability, but because she inspired people- and consequently inspired this idea. I don’t consider that unfair to others

I second Carpboy’s post, but also there’s a new initiative called Dungeon Mentors, it’s a sticky up top of the dungeon forum. It is often for new players, however we have a few mentors who teach speed runs and meta classes. We have specific mentors designated as “Meta Mentor” along with Arah mentors and general mentors. Anyone in that sub forum or in that thread can likely help you. (Except me because I’m not a meta person, I’m a casual. Lol)

I’d like to see the charity idea. But I see nothing at all wrong with giving her an exclusive mini, even if i would like one too… So either would be really awesome. It would be nice if one of my weekly gem purchases would go to charity.

I’m also glad to see this. As a casual runner and a dungeon forum regular, I like this sort of thing

Yeah, the scheduling thing is the issue, as my gf will absolutely die if I don’t give her all my attention at a moment’s notice no matter what I’m doing, so I don’t want to waste anyone’s time by starting and then having to go 20 minutes later, which is why I haven’t contacted you in game for more tutoring. I figure that if I can schedule a time where she knows I don’t want to be interrupted, she can go out somewhere lol.
