I feel like we’ve gotten 10 different versions of the same proposal for how to get existing rewards easier/use up relics/get value for Ascended rings.

Perhaps a pause makes sense until we have some direction forward?

Personally I totally agree here. I’m holding back most of my stuff until there’s a discussion in the works. With each other, and with Chris. I said my proposal, and Now for the waiting game.

There’s just so much on this thread already. It’s astounding that “Fractal evolution” is still too broad of a topic. “Fractal Reward Evolution” I think should be a completely separate topic from “Fractal Evolution” because rewards need so much work. Lol.

Mmm it depends I think. Since fractals don’t give all that much AP, it’s a tough situation. If it’s an alt account I can see it. 70 AR …. I don’t even have that. Guess I’d be embarrassed if a person who just started playing had 70AR.

I sort of feel bad for Chris already. I tried to keep my posts short, but every time I come back to the thread I see walls of text that are “formatted”. It’s still difficult to get through.

I really wish people could be more concise, use more lists, and less walls of text.

First of all, Shaun, that Charr is actually really cute. I don’t know how you and Swifty do it. Secondly, Cries, I love that first picture, what a great screen. Ani, I love your thief. I adore that armor, but I also couldn’t handle that long bit on the side (which is why my thief has the one of 2 not trenchy tops and I really don’t like it all that much, see below.)

Neverarr, love the level 3. I enjoy dressing up my lowbies (which is why I have…. SO MANY LOWBIES) and with 110 transmutation crystals I can do what I want when I want. Very nice look… That sylvari should be a model. By the way, the character below is a level 8

Most class requirements are “lf zerk wars” despite the people making the party having absolutely no idea why warriors are worth taking. Or “lf guard” for fractals, and then they just camp mace/shield, never use wall and do nothing for the entire run.

If you wanted an actual filter for bad pugs you’d ask them to ping their trait spread (e.g. 30/10/10/10/10 or something like that) – that says a lot more about their skill than anything else.

Goal: Make fractal currency viable again.

Proposal Overview: Allow fractal tokens to be used for a variety of ascended related items.

Proposal Details: Since launch, there have been no significant changes to what can be obtained from Buy-4373. At the same time, Ascended gear, arguably, has its main use in Fractals of the mists. Currently many of our hardcore fractal players are sitting on tens of thousands of relics and hundreds of rings. Thus, we should add support for the fractal currency to acquire new items from Buy-4373. In addition we should add a new vendor which would allow us to exchange items. The amounts listed below are for demonstration purposes:

Add New Items to the Fractal Vendor

• Amulets – 2000 fractal Relics
• Earrings/trinkets – 1900 Fractal Relics
• Dragonite ore – 5 Fractal Relics
• Bloodstone Dust – 5 Fractal Relics
• Empyreal Fragments – 5 Fractal Relics
• Add a simple white 20 slot bag to the vendor – 100 Fractal Relics
• Add Fractal Weapon Boxes to the vendor. – 5000 Fractal Relics
• Add the Fractal Tonic to the Vendor – 15000 Fractal Relics
• Add Fine infusions to the Vendor. – 3500 Fractal Relics

Add a Currency Exchange Vendor to Fractals.

• Fractal tokens for laurels. 100 Fractal Relics for 1 Laurel
• Fractal tokens for Karma jugs. 1 Fractal Relics per 10 Karma Point. A Jug of 6000 Karma = 600 relics.
• Fractal tokens for Guild Influence. 1 Fractal Relic per 10 Influence pts.
• Ring Exchange: 3 Rings for 1.
• Ring Exchange: 1 Ring for 5 Pristine Fractal Relics.

Goal of the Proposal:
While other parts of the game have been updated, the fractal currency has fallen behind. Currently, and without much sense, you cannot acquire ascended related materials in the place where it matters most: Fractals of the Mists. We are in need of a change that will add support to our existing currency by expanding its base, while at the same time introducing a mechanism to exchange fractal currency into other types of in game currency.

@Nike: I really love the environmental weapon idea. It reminds me of the Thaumanova fractals shields.

Although honestly on my glass ele standing on that button is easier than on my sentinel ele, because I can actually kill the dredge attacking me.

(Edit: yes yes I have a sentinel set I use for when I need to do less damage so my hubby doesn’t feel like I’m ruining his immersion)

Just wanted to state the obvious real quick: We need to be able to do something with ascended gear that we get rewarded but dont need; ie we should be able to sell them, or salvage them, or trade them in for something of value. Any of the above options or all three if you want to be awesome.

Also we should be able to buy weapons and armor with tokens just like we can with accessories. Im not sure why this wasnt implemented on day one. If its against company policy can you explain why?

I’d like to say i completely agree with this. Forgot all about it when considering problems with fractals.

Oh, top 3 things I’d like to see evolved:

1. Fractal developer to player communication
2. Dredge fractal revamp
3. Fractal party and instance owner changes

As Fractal problems are frequently ignored (and stealth fixes only increase the problems in dredge), Developers should be entirely transparent about what their goals are for Fractals.

Goal of Proposal

Increase developer to player transparency when it comes to Fractals.

Proposal Functionality

Obviously, developers cannot give too much information, and will not discuss exploits because people should not know about possible ways to exploit the game. However, things like “What hole in Dredge Fractal did the developers change today ?” Should be clearly outlined in the patch notes so that people can alter strategies. But more importantly, developers should be clear about why they change what they do. The problem is, we have no contact or conversation with the people changing things in the dungeons, so problems often get ignored or stealth nerfed. A good conversation with the developers would be super helpful.

You can absolutely message any of the listed mentors. The guild is not a requirement, just a way to make it easier for students to find mentors.

Exactly. Case in point: Guang goes 30/10/10/10/10. Which is wrong. 30/20/10/10/0 is higher DPS in almost all sections of every dungeon. Not just with staff, but also with conjures.

I’ve said it before, 0/0/0/0/0 is really the new meta for elementalist. With tornado elite. Anything else and you’re exploiting because elementalist traits are blatant bugs, same with ele conjures, and pet summons.

Plus, I only use offhand weapons. And only focus. Doing damage is an exploit.

I like it a lot. I also liked the terrace pass, but since this has easy access to fractals, a black lion weapon merchant, an activity npc, i like the ship better. I like being so close to everything, and the “exit ship” brings you down to all of the LS merchants, which I am frequently needing lately. I know that’s just a temporary perk, but still.

Why they did not include a ‘report leecher’ function for instances in the game like GW1 PvP is beyond me, lazy and greedy devs? PvE in GW2 was designed to be cooperative in all aspects, yet here we are.

There’s a minimum of 20 people leeching in every instance, and all should be smited.

Anyway, at peak times, enter through blood tide coast. It pops earlier than gendarran. Right before it ends be at the portal. The second event finishes jump in.

I’ve not failed to get into TC LA once while trying, is my point.

People are probably not spamming join after it failed once. The only extra places on the main server that’ll pop up after it failed once, are the ones caused by disconnecting people. I’m not playing the content anymore (because I think it sucks), but I have it on good authority that the best way to get on your main server is to log off at xx:50 in a previous run, and change back to the character at xx:05

At the bolded: exactly. That’s my point. They aren’t trying hard enough if they are saying they can’t get in.

At the rest, I’m not sure if that’s actually true, but i will say it is bordering on exploitation territory and I will not try it for that reason.

That line of reasoning doesn’t work. It only works because not everyone is doing what you’re saying. If everyone, say 500 people on your server, followed your advice, the vast majority wouldn’t arrive on the main server.

He is talking about afk people-that’s not a reportable offense.

its griefing. i have missed 1200 by less than 100 several times. Easily would have had a few of them if not for 6-7 AFKers. They are purposely trying to ruin part of the event (Getting 1200 rescues) so they are griefing which can be reported.

Are you insane? 6-7 AFK have no effect on the event at all. You realize that there are a finite number of civilians, right? Those 6-7 could have helped at one civi spot, but so could any handful of people. They’re doing no less or more good standing around than if they were running mindlessly with the zergs.

A handful of people are not impacting your ability to get 100 rescues. The event can easily support (20) people picking their nose afk. It just means too many people are concentrating on bags and not enough people on civs.

6 or 7 people can easily be keeping a path clear. Besides they are not doing anything in LA but leech, why should they get anything according to you? They can just be removed from LA, no asking them to be removed from the game or anything.

I get where the OP is coming from, but honestly I thought it was very nice of them to let the exotic version be forged and not require crafting. Besides, OP, the exotic bit looks pretty sweet too!

I love it when I see people I recognize from the forums afk’ing in LA. I giggle and screen cap it. Because I’m like that.

Have I gone afk in LA? Yes, just this morning, before work. I wanted to get 10 more heirlooms before work so I could get my halo today, but you know, have to shower, get family up and ready, wake up husband, make lunch, etc. I got my heirlooms, I signed out, GG to my wonderful server getting 1200 without my help (well, I killed a couple Aether’s here and there when I saw a citizen being attacked while they ran while I was walking by my screen.)

Do I think people who afk each and every run are kind of lame and such? Sure. Do I think everyone who afk’s in LA are terrible? No. Especially since now it’s difficult NOT to succeed on my server’s main LA and the first or second overflows. Really, I don’t see where all the complaints are coming from. I don’t see how you’re not able to get to 1200… when people are afking and still making the cut.

For me… I just keep thinking, in a year, new players will see the halo and be like “whoa, what is that? Where can I get it?” And I can feel special. (I know, I know. Just a game and blah blah)

The next CDI is going to be on fractals, which should be starting today or tomorrow. I suggest contributing to that

I am not usually bad at fractals…. but today…. blah. I’m actually loving the LA content. I feel sufficiently rewarded…. and ever since a guild ie pulled dusk from an alliance bag…. well…. let’s just say I will not stop.

Yeah but I’ve only gotten into main once. The overflows I’ve gotten into are fabulous. All of my successes have been in OFs.

Yesterday, after zerging in LA, I joined a level 49 fractal. They were a guild group, we were waiting for last member before bloomhunger and I asked if they were on voip. One replied with “we don’t need voip”. I said “didn’t think you did… just wanted to see if I could join… blah blah.” I then asked “do you melee bloomhunger or range?” They laugh at me. No response. We go to bloomhunger, melee. I didn’t have melee equipped because I wanted to be ready for either occasion, I get downed 3 times and just leave party.

I’m just so bad at everything now. Lol Darn you selfless potion and how much I want you! I’d rather run around looting LA than fractals anyway.

Oh! Is it just 1200? Cool. Never been in one that was much over 900, I think. But, there is still time. I am hoping this part of the release stays for 4 weeks, instead of just 2, but I am guessing it won’t because of the big finale for Season One.

Edit: Looked it up and Tiers for reward are as follows: Tiers are set at 100, 300, 600, 1000, and 1500 citizens rescued.

I’ve gotten the 1200 3 times… best thing from it so far has been the 5 heirlooms.

‘For players who attain the highest tier, there’s a chance for ascended materials and rewards from previous Living World releases.’

Who knows what all those rewards might be…..?

So far, for me it means some aetherized salvage scraps lol

They do not have better stats than ascended, they have equivalent stats. They are mostly good for a esthetics but you can switch their stats at will when out of combat.
