Only thing I hate about this week is the coming of a certain guild that heavy abuses culling erhm… Basically my computer runs well enough but the other 9/10 players who do not suffer so badly they can’t do anything.

What am I talking about? Mesmer stealth. That ability lets you stealth an entire group of 40+ with just 1 mesmer due to how bugged it is at the moment and add stealth culling on top of it, I salute that guild that uses the broken mechanics of WvW to its fullest.

In case people don’t know yet, stealth culling adds another 3-5 seconds after you lost stealth before you can even see them load on you screen. RG you are great at keeping you’re guys together and moving like godzilla but you’re nothing but culling 24/7 made me lost all respect. But hey whatever it takes to win got it.

Can’t say for certain that is is RG doing it intentionally, as I didn’t see any RG guys with the ghost thing on. I did see 2 prx guys running in their zerg as ghosts though. “The Professionals” lol

No. There are no queues to play the game. Any overpopulation in a particular zone is handled by the overflow system.

We picked up no one. On top of that SOR picked up the vast majority of what was left of SBI and we are getting squeezed between you guys. If SoR stayed the way it was and actually earned its rise in rating by gaining rating against SBI without the transfers, BG would have stayed in tier 1 for weeks, as it stands we will get pushed to tier 2 this week or next.

As bad as it seems for your first place team, its about 10x worse for us.

Bah. I play on BG, and I’d say “don’t be so negative”. Yeah, BG hasn’t been the beneficiary of much of the guild movements, but there have been a couple here and there and some individual players. There’s also still 5 days until free transfers end and anything can happen. Yes we will drop to T2 but it’s not the end of the world. We’ve been there before, and I’m confident we’ll see T1 again at some point. I’m personally excited to see some new servers in T2.

Sure SoR hit the lottery, and were in the right place at the right time, but in my opinion they earned it. Until last week they hadn’t won a match in 10 weeks, yet they never dropped a rank spot. Was it due to lack of any other competition? Maybe to a small degree, but it was mainly because they kept coming out every week even though they knew they were going to lose. They could have just quit at any time, but they didn’t. The same can be said for BG, who so far has been the only server kicked out of T1 that has not yet dropped below T2 (not counting SBI but, well, we know what’s going to happen … sorry).

Anyhoo my point is, there’s no reason to be bitter over the situation. With effort and confidence, things have a way of working out.

Hurray for progress! Looking forward to seeing how this plays out. Thanks for continuing to work on this. Hopefully the day comes when the problem is completely solved.

We want BG because BG is more comparable to our size. This makes for a more competitive and interesting match-up.

I don’t think TC realizes that BG picked up 3+ guilds from SBI and that or more from IOJ. they have also been learning some nasty tricks from SOS/JQ in T-1. While some TC players are crying to get SOR out, I sincerely don’t think they want the new and improved BG back. On the flip I kind of want them to get their wish so I can see the new excuses and angry rants from them about how they need SOR back.

Uhhh what do you know that we don’t know? I know of one IoJ guild, and none from SBI.

There were reports of BG moving to Very High twice yesterday, at 4:09pm PST and 8:19pm PST (GMT -8). There are definitely openings, quite often in fact. You’re probably just having bad luck on your timing.

You can’t tank a match when you still win.

Tanking rating however is a different story.

It makes a lot of sense for SoR to take their foot off the gas in the match this week. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a post on their internal forums from one of their community leaders saying to do just that. They need time to get the new guilds set up on their website, channels on TS, permissions set up, and get some coordination together.

But more importantly …. rating. The SoR community leaders know how the rating system works, and I’m sure they’d like to capitalize on it. They know that SBI is going to be in the T2 match again next week, and know there is still more rating that can be taken and used to get a lead in T1. If SoR moved into T1 this week, that rating would go to BG, keeping the rating gap between T1 and T2 tighter.

Regardless of the motivations at play, it’s a smart move and it gives them a chance to finally take a breather this week. Win win for the SoR guys who have been busting their butts the past few months.

The server drops below full very often. The time windows when this most commonly happens are listed a few posts up.

Also, still looking for WvW focused guilds across all timezones (with particular emphasis on Oceanic and NA) who are interested in a strong, organized and skilled WvW experience. If you want a great community who doesn’t quit even in the face of adversity look no further than Blackgate.

Where did ULTD go? I thought they liked their little quiet home on FA.

BG will need to make some changes to stay in T1. Notably their tactics.

I won’t disagree with you about tactics, but I would also argue every server can always improve in that regard. However, BG staying in T1 will still be all about 24/7 numbers, which BG lacks a bit against the two other competitors. It’s not a vast difference in coverage, but it’s there and in the end is the primary factor. Also, BG will likely get pushed out of T1 faster than they would have otherwise this time around, due to SBI losing much of it’s WvW force and TC just not having the coverage. SoR will capitalize on this, and gain rating faster than they would have otherwise. I’m not saying SoR wouldn’t get there, only that it will happen faster now.

Also, to my fellow BG guys, enough with the semantics. The SoR posters here are not saying that they are better than BG, only that they have stronger NA numbers, which is absolutely true, particularly during the EST time zone.

Regarding the rankings in a month, I really don’t have a clue. What I do see is SoS and JQ duking it out for 1 and 2, and BG and SoR swapping places as their red headed step child every few weeks or so. I see FA, DB, Mag and Kain moving up the ranks, CD and TC holding steady somewhere, and the rest moving down. It’ll settle in after a couple of weeks, only to be thrown off again by the February WvW update, which should create a surge in WvW interest for awhile. After that, it will be a battle of attrition.

Finally, don’t think that paid transfers will stop large shocks to the rankings. If a guild isn’t happy with their current situation and they’re still passionate about WvW, I have no doubt that many will pay to transfer. Especially since you can use gold to buy gems.

Yeah it gives me the chuckles too. Like last night in EB for example. We (BG) were holding off wave after wave of JQ trying to take back Bravost, with two walls down along with the gate, when I heard on TS “what’s SoS doing in here?”. LOL! Obviously they saw a hole in the wall and decided to check it out. Clearly a 2v1! (kidding). Those runs on Durios and Bravost last night were pretty fun by the way. Maybe frustrating for JQ for awhile, but you got them back in the end.

Anyhoo .. yeah, I think accusations of 2v1s will grace this forum until the lights finally go out on the game.

As a player on BG, I can verify this statement 100%. SoR got it’s much needed overnight coverage to at least make a showing in T1. In a big way from the looks of things. Sadly, that also means that T2 is going to suck for a awhile until things balance out a bit. Unfortunately it looks like we’re back to how things were in September. Four T1 caliber servers with only room for three.

I thought it used to be ||NA|| – ||Oceanic / East Asia|| – ||Euro / West Asia||
JQ ||Ok|| – ||Great|| – ||Superior||
SoS ||Good|| – ||Superior|| – ||Ok||
BG ||Superior|| – ||Good|| – ||Ok||

Remember that when discussing coverage, you have to factor in the servers in the current match. You may have OK Oceanic coverage in one tier, but Superior in just the next tier down. You have to compare coverage in a certain timezone as it relates to the other servers.

However, to answer your question, based on what I know about the transfers servers have received thus far, I’d place coverage of the current T1 match as follows:

SoS: NA – Superior, Oceanic – Superior, SEA – Ok, EU – None
JQ: NA – Superior, Oceanic – Good, SEA – Good, EU – Ok
BG: NA – Good, Oceanic – Ok, SEA – Ok to Good, EU – Good (basically just HB here, but good against our competitors)

The big thing I’ll point is in my eyes, BG has no time zone slots that I would consider Superior against our current opponents, and thus our primary issue in T1.

Hopefully our OP will update the score answer at least once in awhile this week. Last week’s self serving motivation to not update the answer was obvious and bad form in my eyes.

Supposedly [HIRE] can field 100 players in NA primetime. More than their Oceanic players in fact. Add in [RMA] who is from South America but still plays in NA prime, and the likelihood of other additions we don’t know about yet, and yeah ….

If you guys already have queues during NA prime, I can’t help seeing that getting worse. Much worse possibly. Add in the big WvW update potentially a month later and things could get grim for awhile. Hopefully not.

I have seen you guys in action and it is definitely a force to be reckoned with.And this whole “not sure if they would stay in tier 1” crap is just that crap. This is the2nd time they went to tier 1. The last time they dropped to tier 2 and dominated it for 7 weeks straight. So don’t state that crap. They aren’t “new to tier 1”.

Oceanic is more of an umbrella term for SEA+Australia+NZ and all surrounding islands. Most games will group them together because the discrepancy of a few hours is rarely felt, however in WvW, a few hours of offset peaks can be a 500ppt swing.
ATM, I would summarise the three servers as the following:

SoS: Heavy Australian presence, medium SEA
BG: Medium Australian, medium SEA
JQ: Low Australian, Heavy SEA.

You can see how throwing around the Oceanic term doesn’t really mean much as people are often referring to different things.

BG medium Aussie? We have like 3 small guilds in that timezone. Given you’re in MERC you certainly have a better idea of that timezone than I do but man, I don’t know how our Aussie population can be considered medium.

We aren’t at all. The vast majority of us have enjoyed this match immensely, and I have no doubt that we’ll continue to give it our all, improve our game and explore ways to win. The battles and tactics we’ve seen this week have been nothing short of awesome. I personally want to win. I like winning, even if there aren’t any rewards. The win alone is enough reward for me. But if I don’t win, as long as my team doesn’t give up, and continues to show signs of material improvement, I’m happy. If SoS ends up winning consistently with a 100k-200k point lead, I’m not sure I’ll want to get into WvW regularly, because, while I do want to play for a challenge, that isn’t a challenge, that’s being farmed for badges. Feisty had some of the best score update shots during our marathon with SoR.

Regarding how the servers match up when the dust settles, we shall see. We just won’t know until we can look at the scoreboards the week of the 28th and the couple of weeks that follow. Until then we’re just making guesses. Well founded and educated guesses maybe, but still guesses.

BG shoud be fighting for second place. Any third place team that is new to a bracket that isn’t clawing and fighting for any success they can get would be foolish. If I played for BG I’d be squeezing the crap out of JQ at all hours because the best way to change the horizon of the T1 landscape is to first take JQ out of the picture. I have no horse in this race, but I do see things shaking up soon.

You can take 2nd place by squeezing PPT out of the leader too, while tightening the score at the same time thus leeching off their rating if you don’t manage 2nd. Win win. Just because a server is in 2nd place doesn’t always make them a softer target.

I’m not against the idea but invulnerable yaks seems kind of gimmicky. How about more yak upgrades? You can upgrade yaks with heavy plate armor and have an asuran alchemist riding it that throws elixirs or something.

Haha I actually really like this idea. Seeing a crazed Asura chucking elixirs or grenades while riding a Dolyak would be funny to watch.

The more important question is " Who is going to replace BG in 2 weeks time"

Let’s be honest here, doesn’t matter who from T2 moves up. No server in T2 even has EU or Oceanic coverage to compete. They are all NA prime servers and you cannot win t1 with just NA prime. SoS is the dominant server and will continue to be for the forseeable future until they get bored.

Pretty spot on. Things can and probably will change eventually though.
