I see. I had trouble understanding the OP, but now I get it. It was simply a function of the dailies available on the list on that first day. Today, 5 can easily be done in WvW. That said, I don’t think there should be any list that a player cannot complete 5 from solely in WvW, just as every list should include 5 that can be completed solely in PvE.

I think Anet should set certain priorities in the daily build list rather than being random, so that there are always (every day) 5 dailies that can be completed in both areas of the game.

Haha that’s a good point! This fact hadn’t occurred to me. They may be the only server period in any tier that has not dropped at least one ranking since the data collection started. This run will probably end eventually, but it’s still a neat data point. Nice job SoR!

Well at least we got official confirmation via his comments that they did in fact manually reduce the map population limits after the last major update. I wish they would have just come out and said it rather than having everyone going “why does this BL feel empty yet there’s a queue?”.

That’s still assuming they do leave. Going with the current rumormill though, and say they do transfer, SoR makes the most sense to me as the best destination in the NA bracket, with a big maybe for Kaineng. I still say they end up moving back to the EU servers though.

Kaineng was lost fun with BG, TC, these days, only few people were on WvW. my guild is biggest Guild in EB BL, but these 2 days, I only found some people on WvW. most of us in PVE. continue 3 weeks BG vs KEN vs TC, it was very boring thing. including me, every day COF and daily.

I’m curious, what has caused your guild to become bored with this matchup? I mean. it’s only been a bit over 2 weeks. Heck we fought SoR and IoJ/TC for 8 weeks straight.

It’s really not about doing poorly or losing, but how your server is able to handle it. The first time BG moved up to T1 then out in 3 weeks, it was pretty rough. We lost some guilds and players, and we had to do some real soul searching on where we went wrong and how we could improve. Thankfully, we were able to take some very heated comments from a player (who later left BG) constructively, and at least to some degree use them to better ourselves. We got more organized. Communication got better. Leaders stepped up and filled important roles.

In the end we dropped one rank spot and held it until our second trip to T1. That second time was much different. We performed admirably and earned the respect of our opponents. We took 3rd place three weeks in a row but never lost sight of who we are, and we dropped back to T2 feeling good about ourselves. So to again summarize my rambling thoughts, losing isn’t necessarily the cause of transfers. It’s failing to understand why, pointing fingers before asking questions, and not being capable of fostering ways to get better.

Regarding coverage vs. JQ, we shall see. I personally feel JQ will still have the edge, but I know BG will give them everything we got. However, our SEA guys have had the opportunity to work on their game against WM/KO/MEOW the past couple of weeks, so they’ve had some good practice against the zerg during their time zone. Watch out Foo!

no kidding, I dont understand why SoR is being overlooked in this mess… But I gotta give credit to BG, they are just better at recruiting, even when both SoR and BG were in T2 for months.

Well to be fair, SoR did A LOT better with receiving guilds before free transfers ended than BG did. The balance of perception ebbs and flows quite a bit over time, and I think transfer consideration has a lot to do with a server’s current position in the rankings, community perception, really good timing and a lot of luck. It has nothing to do with being a good or bad server at recruiting (in my opinion), but a rather unique combination of the above variables.

Anet needs to enable free transfers from overpopulated servers to under populated servers.

Seems people in the upper tiers are crying over queue times while those of us in the lower tiers need more people.

First none “fix the rankings!” suggestion I’ve seen lately that I 100% completely agree with! Though I imagine it would have to work with WvW populations as opposed to overall server population to work correctly on this issue.

Guys. Most guilds/players in the top tiers will not move to a lower populated server at this point, even if it’s free. The queues on Blackgate range from non-existent to under 10 minutes most nights during NA prime time (except for reset night but reset night should always be thrown out when evaluating queues). From what I understand, they’re a bit worse on average on JQ and SoR during NA prime, but they’re not bad either. The bottom line is, unless a lot of players become more active following the March WvW update, queues are not going to be the motivator to move to a lower tier server as they once were.

As an Elementalist, I would love this actually. Is it that hard to open your inventory and double click the weapon(s) you want to swap in? No, not really, but it’s a bit annoying. Then again, it’s no more annoying than having to open your inventory to eat food or drop siege. Still, it would be nice if this could be automated. Some MMOs made this possible via scripting a macro that you could then drop on a hot bar, but GW2 doesn’t have that. So they’d have to add something like “non-combat weapon set” slots that you could move weapons to then keybind. This does bring up a UI challenge though, because they would want to add a clickable button for it too.

In the end … yeah I just typed a lot about something that just ain’t gonna happen.

Umm, we’re in T8 because of the Glicko System, not because we aren’t strong enough. At the moment, just before reset, we are winning by a 250k point lead. How will our Rating change based on this? A very meager amount I can assure you.

Yeah, having been at Durios earlier, I can tell you HB had that place full of superior arrow carts. It was a literal killing zone in the courtyard there. Only solution I can think of would have been to target Durios with about 4-5 trebs. Course then, we would have had an HB rush…very unpleasant….

Same exact thing happened last night in KN BL at bay. WM completely outmanned BG so BG sieged inner bay like it was our last stand (cause it was lol). WM trebbed two inner walls down but could never make it inside alive. After 2 hours, WM left to go to EB, so we capped the rest of their BL.

why I didn’t see many WM in World vs World, I usually saw some of them. WM sounds disappear in Kaineng.

There were many WM there for that siege on KN Bay Wednesday Night. I’d say at least 20+, although this was late NA prime time so I don’t think it was the bulk of their Korean players.

You must be a Ranger. That’s the ability they steal from you. It plants a tree, gives regeneration, and I think removes a condition. Kind of like a gimped Healing Spring.

There is a consumable that casts this same skill. Was it already disabled in WvW?

Edit – Nevermind. I found the answer to my own question, which was, yes it is!

I personally don’t mind it. Grouping with the enemy can be fun sometimes, like setting up duels, congratulating others on a good fight or other friendly banter. But like others said, be cautious of random group invites if you’re the sensitive type.

That said, I think the common sense rule says that being able to form a party with the enemy is a coding oversight on Anet’s part and is probably something that will be fixed eventually.

Next week may highlight the smallest number of server ranking changes since release. As it stands right now, only #23 and #24 are swapping places in the NA bracket. In addition, it’s happening in T8 where the ratings are basically broken. On one hand, you can say that this is the ranking formula working its magic, and matching servers that are closest in player participation and capability creating the chance for a relatively even match up. On the other hand, you can say this is boring as all get out.

This week it’s likely that all of the Green (#1 rank within the match) servers will win, and only two Blue servers are not in second place. So almost everything is happening, ahem, “as expected”, and I find it to be pretty dull.

I have to say I’ve once again really enjoyed this match. I haven’t had the pleasure of running into any sizable force from TC this week, which probably has to do with the maps I’ve been on, but we’ve smashed into KN quite a bit. Last night WM and friends smacked us in the mouth a few times, but then we were able to return the favor with a really fun defense of Bay on KNBL (then KN Garri later on but it wasn’t as fun). I dunno I just find holding a choke on inner with two walls down to be pretty exciting sometimes. Something about hearing “HERE THEY COME!” on TS gets the blood pumping heh.

So rather than fighting each other,KN and BG would rather not fight each other most of the night and day(every once in a while crashing into each other) so they can get the easy points double teaming the less populated server. Now i know why you guys cant get out of T2,but i cant figure out how TC is staying in T2 being the least populated server of the three,and being double teamed most of the time.

Don’t start. They fight constantly and we fight them as well on every map. Expecting them to not take advantage of easy points during our downtime is foolish, and getting hurt feelings about it only hurts you. They have a pretty close matchup going on, and I can tell Kaineng is hungry for BG’s ranking. Despite that, TC can run an extremely competitive Primetime with the luxury of not having to worry about the overall score since our Oceanic presence lacks us that luxury.

The most important thing, though, is that in a week or 2 we are going to be in their spot, hammering two other much less populated servers and you are going to be reading posts like yours constantly from them. Try to be the competitor you want to face.

LOL! Another epic LOLCATS score update. I seriously felt that way sweeping Bay last night. I think we had to do sweeps on 4 or 5 separate occasions. We even set up a Treb at one point to kill a couple TC players that were holed up on the ledge behind the supply hut in inner Bay. I wonder if someone stumbled upon that Treb later and thought “what the heck is this doing here?”.

I personally think they went dark because Colin’s post got ripped to shreds to the point where they had to close their own thread. Why post anything that could change before it’s patched and only have more people jump down your throat?

Hehe. While the replies below yours (and above mine) may have a little bit of truth to them, the fact is we rolled last week’s match thread into this week by updating the title (well not we, the OP did). So the majority of those replies are from last week’s match.

If you knew this and were being funny, sorry. I miss humor more often than I should.

Mine is about 7 per hour, but I leveled and geared two characters solely in PvE, and also got 400 in 4 different crafting professions where I gathered/farmed most of the mats rather than buying them. If there was a way to separate play hours in WvW this number would be much more meaningful.

The main problem with the staff is the slow speed. If there are a lot of players farming it can be pretty hard to do enough fast damage to get tags. Although when I want to farm, which is rare, I use my Nade Engineer.

I agree. Trebs force both offensive and defensive action differently and arguably more effectively than any other type of siege equipment. Plus, even after all this time, I still think seeing balls of fire fly through the sky is really cool, especially in EB, where they’re often flying in multiple directions.

This is a valid point. Extended down times can hit certain servers pretty hard on the scoreboard if the servers happen to go down during one of their weak spots in coverage. I’ll admit though, that mad dash to defend or acquire holdings just before the servers go down for extended maintenance can be a serious rush of adrenaline. Last night in the BGvKNvTC was nuts.

Still, fun or not, it’s not exactly fair.

Guys, please. This back and forth is pointless and as we learned weeks ago goes nowhere. What’s in the past is in the past. Leave it there please, for the sake of all of us.

Yeah there is definitely no love lost between BG and SoR, but I think the majority, with a few exceptions, have cooled down about it. There were several factors involved, but in the end I think it boiled down to both servers being very competitive, having overextended egos, and an almost unhealthy amount of server pride. Each server couldn’t stand reading something they didn’t agree with, and lashed back in some form of defense. I think a lot of it was also based on both servers going into the very first match thinking they were better than each other. There was no groundwork for some initial mutual respect, and any chance at building that groundwork wkittentered early on due to some unfortunate events that transpired at Bay.

To me, what transpired over those 8 weeks is in the past, but yes, BG and SoR will be definitely be gunning for each other if we ever meet again. I just hope reports of the confrontations can stay respectful on the forums. Sadly, I don’t think the odds of that are very good heh. But I’ve been wrong many times before, and will be many times more.

ER is predicted to end the week about 77 rating points above SFR, with ER gaining some rating since the match is pretty close, and SFR losing some rating, again, because the match is pretty close. ER would have to lose by about 100k+ every week for about 3 weeks, and SFR would have to win by about 100k+ every for the same period, for you to swap places.

In other words, if you like T2, I don’t think you don’t have anything to worry about for awhile unless Anet changes the formula for rating calculations. For now, they decided to leave the rating formula alone.

This won’t work in WvW, because there is nothing for a player to do but sit in a queue if their server happens to have more people interested in participating in WvW than one of two other opponents. In sPvP, there is always a game to jump into. The fact is, as much as many would like it to be, WvW was never designed to be perfectly balanced. The closest thing we have to dynamic population balancing is the ranking system, which tries to match servers that are as close in scoring capability as possible.

I still kill them, but I handle it a little differently. With other enemy server Yaks, I let the carcass rot where it dropped. With TC Yaks, I make steaks out of the meat and use the furs to keep my family fed and warm through the harsh winter months. I also use the inedible parts and blend them into fertilizer, to grow a new crop of grass that will feed the next generation of Yaks. When it comes to TC, I support the cycle of Yak life.

Yes they have, although I don’t believe Agg has said anything about it directly yet. FoE most definitely has, regarding both guilds.
