I guess it depends on how you define the time zone, as Oceanic and SEA can blur a bit. I don’t play during that time, so someone who actually does may need to correct me, but from the reports I’ve seen, I’d say that right now JQ does.

I think it’s fair to say guilds avoid TW like the plague. I really don’t know what you guys are going to do when you get to T2, there isn’t anyone that can beat you in T1(that I’ve seen), you guys will be bored in T2.

An idea was thrown out yesterday that Anet may be stealth testing changes that are related to the possible removal of culling this month. Given that they stealth tested reductions in map population caps last month, I’d say this theory has its merits.

If you can get online in the morning, like between 6am and 10am server time, you may have a better chance completing Blue and Red map exploration objectives. Just follow FoO around. During NA it will be much harder for you. Also, even if BG manages to win the match this week JQ will still be the Green server next week.

We don’t care about the whole buying of guilds. The whole fact that you guys had the once T1 rulers BANDWAGON to your server is what ruins it. When I was on Blackgate we had our chances of ruling T1 but PuGs quit, Guilds hated each other (and still do), and there was no real communication outside some forums that was moderated by someone that didn’t play the game. Some of the guilds, instead of preparing, felt they HAD to attend WvW. Instead of fixing this problem, they paid/bandwagon for guilds to transfer over and now talk like they’re all that

I said the same thing when I was on Blackgate and I’ll say it again and again. They aren’t T1 material, and the fact I’ve been with just about every guilds zerg so far in this matchup and it’s been a simple cakewalk over them, making tons of badges and gold, shows that is the truth.

If SoR were to get the coverage to actually compete, there wouldn’t be much chance. The fact we even have over 100k points with such lack of coverage is nothing short of amazing. Constantly having paper walls while you guys have T3 and still owning the PPT matchup.

You guys should simply try getting better rather than bandwagoning. That is all.

Whats up with all the taunting by BG players on a defeats ? Ive been laughed at, danced on, slept on, and on occasionally left their bleeding as the BG Invader emotes me till I die. It’s like BG amateur hour out there now and far more closer to the 1st time BG entered T1 than the more laid back BG that was here last time in t1.

Yeah probably. It’s usually players that only participate in WvW when a server is winning, and are basically saying “haha we’re in T1 and winning you’re bad neener” or something along those lines. All servers have the sort, and they usually go away when losing. Humans are usually mean by nature … we have to learn to be nice.

I strongly suspect that ANet is stealth experimenting to determine just how little server-side capacity they have to add to follow through on their pledge to eliminate culling, and they probably are stealth experimenting with different rendering algorithms as well. There have, after all, been a couple of small undocumented patches lately.

I can definitely buy that. Let’s hope they get things figured out soon because players are getting frustrated with the lag, particularly in T1.

I run PVT armor with Berserkers Staff and Trinkets on the standard 0/10/0/30/30 build in WvW. I think of myself in WvW as damaged focused support. I run 4/6 boon duration and 2/6 might duration runes, and a sigil of battle which grants might on attunement swaps. The main problem I have with deep Fire traits is it tends to force you into Fire too much, when you really should be swapping through attunements more often and utilizing all your skills. Plus, the deep Water and Arcane traits are just so useful in WvW, not to mention the great passive bonuses.

Speaking of Choo, I stumbled across their recruiting video. Very nice guys!

The big question I have is, what changed? Back near release, we had servers like HoD and JQ in T1 with huge queues, thus 4 full maps for long periods of time, and there were massive amounts of players clashing into each other. I don’t remember any reports of server based skill lag back then. Sure there was culling, but there still is. Culling just prioritizes friendlies and enemies differently now. So that can’t be it, unless they’re currently testing the upcoming removal of culling on live servers behind the scenes.

Is it related to the weird bugs that have been occurring where players find themselves in another server’s WvW map? Have they reallocated server resources? Is the guesting system putting too much strain on server throughput? Is the database growing beyond server capacity?

My questions above come from the standpoint of knowing absolutely nothing about mmo game design or the hardware systems required to run things, but they’re questions that initially popped into my head.

It must be happening during peak times when concurrent connections are the highest. I play after 8pm server time and had plenty of zerg on zerg action this weekend and had only a couple short instances of skill lag.

They were on SBI from what I understand…i’ve only recently joined them. Good group of dudes, got some nice havoc squad stuff going on. Speaking of which, good fights to the other small groups out and about this past weekend.

I dunno you’d have to check with them. Maybe they were on SBI before, but they were definitely on BG up until the free transfer deadline where they moved to JQ. I saw them around sometimes, but they never got involved in the wvw community website as far as I know. They were probably feeling the server out and decided to hang their hat elsewhere. They picked up some words or praise from JQ and SoS players as great skirmishers back when BG was in T1 in January.

Anyhoo, the guild name still cracks me up. Yeah I’m easily amused, but that’s a good thing sometimes.

Very true. BG will be the new top server for quite some time now with the coverage they just got from SoS.

I think it would be a good idea to take a step back and not draw any specific conclusions yet. We’re not even 3 full days through this match yet, and only one week day. JQ was mopping BG up pretty good on Sunday, and BG returned the favor today (only talking about the scoreboard here btw). I personally think there will continue to be a lot of back and forth in PPT throughout the week.

Yup. My primetime on weekends. It’s all about the number of players in a small area like the Lord’s room in SM. Reasonable number of players hammering the server = no lag.

100 Nade Engineers can have some pretty massive burst on a target. Although Kit Refinement (the trait that allows Engineers to have another instant Grenade Barrage) was nerfed in the recent patch and now has a ICD so it requires a bit more micro management.

I’m getting a little bored with always winning.

JQ has 7 match wins since week 40 (Oct 6 – Oct 13). The server with the most match wins over that same time frame has double that (14 wins), including a string of 11 wins in a row. So …. bored? Okay.

The 24hr resets don’t count and if I’m not mistaken those other servers dropped all the way down to t6/7 JQ on the other hand has been in T1 since who the hell remembers and has only dropped to t2 for maybe 3 weeks (cit needed)even before all the transfers we were the most competitive longest lasting server ever in t1. Its like nascar you don’t have to win any races to win the championship all you need to do is place in the top 5 consistently.

We’ve been in the 1 week match format since week 38 I think it is, but week 40 is the first week millenium started recording score data, so that’s what I started with.

But don’t take my comments at some kind of shot at JQ. I know full well that total wins has no bearing at all on how good a server is in this game. JQ has been in T1 longer than any other server, regardless of wins, which is a massive accomplishment and arguable makes JQ the most successful server in WvW to date.

My point was to illustrate how it’s a bit silly (in my opinion) to say you’re bored of winning after 4 wins in a row and 7 since October (depending on how long you’ve been on the server). Then again, it HAS been 2-3 weeks of blowouts basically, and everyone has their own limits when it comes to that and boredom overall.

I think a good middle point would be to make badges worth something. I know many of us are completely broke, but have thousands of badges. I have 6g and 2500 badges.

If Anet would simply allow us to do something useful with these badges, the hardcore WvWers would feel less scorned about the World XP ignoring their months worth of hard work.

No details yet but depending on what will be available to buy with badges this could be the answer to appease players who have been active in WvW for months.

There has been a bug affecting some players this week, where they’re zoning into WvW maps of servers that are not even in the current match. Also, some players have reported zoning into an “overflow”, or separate copy of an existing WvW map. So, what it sounds like you’re experiencing is not normal and will hopefully be resolved soon.

I still have hopes though. Maybe they haven’t finished the details on that part yet so they’re keeping it under wraps. Not adding a way to obtain Ascended in WvW besides dailies, or at least add more items that can be purchased with Badges, in the March patch would be a massive mistake.

D/D is definitely good for PvE leveling. You may want to give Scepter/Dagger a spin too. It plays similar but you get some range with the Scepter. Don’t ignore the staff either, if you have any intention of using it down the road in dungeons or WvW. Staff takes a little practice to get the hang of.

Do most people disable the server color thing on enemy equipment? I never bothered, so all the enemies I see are dressed in red, blue etc. Hard to blend into the landscape as the red server against me unless you’re pretending to be a raspberry bush.

Valid? Sure. It doesn’t violate any game play mechanics. In my view it’s bad form though. Being pushed to spawn on a map is punishment enough. Setting up siege is just plain mean and unsportsmanlike. Again, my views. Others will argue that all is fair in love and war. I just know I wouldn’t participate in it if my server was doing it. There are plenty of other ways for me to find some laughs that aren’t at the expense of others.
