Unless you had zero endurance and every possible skill on cd, along with the frozen keyboard bug…..I can’t imagine this happening to a necro.

If u watch closely the Combat text , after the CnD combo , the Thief deleberty used the 3 main auto attacks , in order to activate the <<Panic Strike>> (4 sec immobilize), and then unload the 3 heartstrikes

If a Thief can do 5.5 crit (Dula Strike+ Wild Strike+ Lotus Strike) in 0.6 sec , + ontop the HeartStreike+ BS, why the rest of the meele classes cant do that kind of damage ? !!!

The future of the game is , is secured with this kind of community !

As a power necro d/d thiefs are fn easy. D’s fear after the steal/bs burst. Drop marks/heal/switch to d/x immbolize drop well/auto attack. You can drop a GC thief soooo fast.

Not to mention thiefs can’t fight on points making them not that usrfull in tpvp.

What rank are you op?

You have said a lot of things in your post that makes sense and i would consider good information,

But(no offense) there are some things I can’t imagine tpvp necros would agree with.

I use d/wh more then most( I’m good at stopping heals and rez’s with daze), but can’t recommend warhorn to new power necros due to the overall usefulness of offhand focus/dagger. Not sure what you mean by self protection..

And you say you max out condition for power builds(unless you mean the 30% duration all power necros take due to the spite line) which makes no sense to me. I love zerker but knights/zerk jewl is better against a decent team. I love being a zerk well/lich necro being able to lay waste to everything, but good teams will focus you kitten kitten way to fast.

In condition builds you don’t mention anything about terror..
In support builds the last thing I think about is minions.
And the only (some what)viable bunker build I know is a soldier MM guarding a close point.

With leader-boards Tpvp has become more competitive, and i have been seeing teleporters about every other day, making Tpvp more then frustrating.

I have had many( i mean a ton o f games) of people teleporting orb/instant lord attacking with gates still up….etc. This exploit has been happening since October! I don’t care anymore about how we are not supposed to talk about this in the forums.

I have had my entire team and the enemy team report the offender every time! Have made countless fraps videos and uploaded them.

Can we get a response from DEVS into what is being done? I love this game, i love Tpvp, and would really like to see this game go to an Esport status. But simply not talking about the problem and constant reporting doesn’t seem to be a solution.

(a skilled one btw 30r +, have beat tons of crappy bm rangers)

Has any one had good success in 1v1 sitiuations vs a BM Ranger. Ive tried condition and power builds and cannot seem to best one in a duel.

As a condition build my stacks of bleed get cleansed very fast, and terror fears don’t works because of there two anti cc traits. Usually don’t stand a chance.

Power builds(30/15/10/0/15, 30/0/10/0/30) I Stand a much better chance. Usually getting the ranger down to 25% health or so. Have beat a few in tourny 1v1s but they down me about the same time, and win the down v down fight usually.

So any advice?

I personally don’t like the power rune sets for this kind of build. Ranger will give you high crit chance, high crit damage, and close to a permanent 5% damage boost. Really its the 6th part I like best, a 5% damage boost I would think would put in more work than a bit of extra power (which you should have tons of going 30 into spite and using berzerker gear, I’d think).

Hey bwhab, I always wanted to test that but never got the chance. Is it true that you get the 5% DMG increase if you have any of your minions out. Assumed companion meant pet, like the other class runes (bundle,shouts,and what not)

  1. Leavers being allowed at all in tournaments, the “hardcore pvp” option.
  2. No rating system at all besides leaderboards (useless), and glory (can get through casual pvp).
  3. downing 3 people, then having them all rally off of a single kill, the biggest failing of this pvp system.

Sorry, but GW2’s dreams as an e-sport are long gone. Maybe we’ll have better luck with TES:O

1 . LOL- allows leavers in ins ranked games. LOL is a very popular Esport

2. LOL- Can get IP points through casual pvp. Better rating systems will com in time.

3. Could be patched, maybe the player who caused the most dmg gets rallied? Agree with you on this quite annoying.

Gw 2 is not even a year old, and has a lot of potential.

More game modes, yes.

Guild-locked content, NO. Forcing people to play in a guild is like forcing people to play in premade parties: not everyone wants that, not everyone has the time for that, not everyone wants to support a specific guild for that.

The worst thing about gvg in gw1, is that it wasn’t accessible. One thing that GW2’s pvp, for all its flaws, is much better at.

Yeah I bought GUILD WARS 2 hoping there was no kind of guild wars or battles in the game.

So, we do read the forums.

Right now we’re thinking this ability will go back to being unblockable, as will Currupt Boons. We still want you to need LOS to your target, however. We want these skills to have fun back/forth play on them, while being fair for both sides (the attacker and defender). Keep in mind, these abilities can still be evaded.

That build is ok but I’d sure put those 15 blood magic points somewhere else and take Spectral Walk on every map other than maybe Forest unless you plan to sit on points.

I like Staff Mastery a lot these days (underrated) and 5 more in Curses gets you Terror or Chilling Darkness and more crit.

Like staff mastery also, but I never can really get it since greater marks takes priority over it. Can never get my self to put 20 points into death magic either.

Terror isn’t good in power builds if I’m not mistaken. Chilling darkness, he has no blinds in this build besides staff 4 on wells(btw that should cause an aoe chill also when traited?).

we all have are own play styles, if you like the siphon/rejen, rock it. The one thing I’d prob stress again is your 32% crit DMG with low crit chance. I’m sure dagger puts out a lot of DMG without crits, but saying that, have you thought about a different stat? I feel like you don’t benefit from crit DMG like how you said this build does not benifit from a crit proc sigil(air/fire).

Good for wvw jp", thiefs have a great fall skill, and they use it in wvw combat often.

Turn poison field into a fetid ground and I would love the trait.

Seems like a decent build. Not to many people use valk amulet even though its quite good.

IMO I would take the 15 out of blood magic and maybe put it in curses( you have a low crit chance even if you use fury Ds often ) but I’d prefer to put it into Soul reaping. Its the best trait line to put 15 points. This is a high DMG build! You have lich and two wells, the health siphoning won’t matter to much.

You also have a lot of crit DMG for such a low crit rate. I would try to boost this anyway you can. I would use a zerker jewel in your amulet for a bit of a bump, and maybe some precision runes. The crit DMG in divinity would be made up from 15 iinto sr.

Would two sigils of accuracy stack? I know force sigils do not.

Sigil of battle and other swap weap sigils- do they affect sigils like fire and air at all?

Sigil of fire or Air? Whats the damage difference you have seen between them?

No not every one would be affected the same. Some classes have much better stat trait placement than others. If I want any kind of toughness I have to roll minions. need crit chance for your pwr build? Go down the condi DMG line where most trait options are useless for a power build, and the list goes on. No amulets would ruin so many builds, i can’t believe this even as to be explained. Grass is green and 1+1=2.

In a sense, amuletless sPvP achieves what the OP asks : since the stats come only from traits, you got quite a liberty to make the build you want.

No. As a necro our trait lines are so scattered that we need an amulet to define our builds.

The HGH build makes a rabid engi walk around with about 2000 power…..in a condition build..ntm how well nades scale with power and condi. I find a constant 25 stacks of might a bit overwhelming.

Why is warhorn wells considered a troll build? its one of the top WvW builds there is.

Runes of the Mesmer and Sigils of Paralyzation both extend the Daze duration of the warhorn (at least in WvW). Daze has a max duration of 4 seconds and it is always rounded up so a 3.1 second Daze will be 4 seconds.

O sorry don’t play much wvw anymore. Was talking about tPvP(even though I was talking about wvw on my thief from a while ago),where well bombing builds can fail bad when good players stun break/tele out leaving your utilities on CD with a GC build.

Been playing with troll zerker well bomb build(d/wh), and have the wh trait and runes of messmer to give my wh a 4 sec daze. But does the stun duration sigil also affect this?

When I play my thief s/d (WvW/pave) the sigil affects the sword daze, so it should affect the necros wail also…right?

Interesting that this became a discussion about engi v. necro difficulty.

What can be said about Necro relative to other classes is that their stun breaks are trash, they have no access to blocking, invulnerable, vigor, stealth, stun/daze (other than the minion elite which is not as good as plague or lich and warhorn 4 which is arguably the worst off hand for a necro regardless of if they are power or condi)or knock back (except when in Lich). That is a heavy price to pay for the utility of shroud. The class cannot do damage in any form as well as other classes, can’t support as well as other classes, can’t bunker as well as other classes, has no mobility, and if it is trained and chain CC’d can’t survive and can’t escape.

It isn’t that Necro is awful, infact it has better versatility than most classes. For a Necro to be truly effective in any role, though, it needs team support. All of the other classes have better ways to be self sufficient and easier ways to play.

That’s the problem right there. It NEEDS support moreso than any other class. If need be any class designed to be a teamfighter should hold its own in a 1v1 situation or should be able to roam very quickly.

Explicitly saying that X class/build is only useful around teammates makes that class or build worth far less than a class that can do just as well in a team fight but also roam with speed and efficacy.

For how much support necros NEED to survive they don’t bring very much to the table.

That’s what I don’t understand about a lot of these posts. As a condi necro I do not need any support in a 1v1. I usually come up on top vs most classes and builds. In a 2v1 i have no chance, but still can hold my point long enough for support to come with plague form.

Then in team fights we do need support because we get focused. But that’s only because the other team knows what condi/epidemic can do.

I have done a lot of testing on Plague signet and it seems it be working great.

*It correctly transfers conditions to yourself from allies (Was still under the impression it just copies them).

*It transfers conditions to your enemy within 1200 range no matter where they are(I thought your target had to be in front of you, but this is not the case. They can be behind you, or even on a higher or lower elevation and the conditions transfer just fine. Plague signet can still be obstructed if there something in the way .

*Stunbreak works good also.

Been using this signet with my condi necro to great affect. I know we already have a good amount of transfers/cleanse, but one that is a stun break and can be used instantly on some one behind us is very good.

At the same time i have seen some post lately saying stuff like “Plague is bad, its absolutely awful” and not to use it. Why do people no longer like this skill?

If he did say that, we in the necro community deserves a very detailed explanation and clarification from him. Show us what we are doing wrong. Prove that we suck by demonstrating how to beat elite players from other professions.

It’s simply the source material from which some players have inferred that one developer’s opinion of the Necromancer as being a potentially very powerful class is inconsistent with their experiences.

6 months ago we had a world of issues that have since been fixed or minimalized. Death Shroud is an extremely powerful tool for the Necromancer. The problem is the conditionmancer can’t use it 90 percent of the time, and the powermancer has no way to escape a fight once he starts, and since DS gets absolutely wrecked by one big burst that leaves us with a bitter taste in some fights.

Having said that and talking to numerous Necromancers, Rangers, Guardians, and Mesmer’s who wvwvw and tournament at the highest levels. The Necromancer borders on scary op when protected by his teammates.

A high level mesmer said it best. "You kill the necromancer in tournaments, because if you don’t he kills your team. They are really squishy if they are condition specced and they can’t get away so if you can control their teammates they go down, and you can breathe a sigh of relief. "

Oscicat, wvwvw havoc squad mesmer, in the most recent Mesmerized Podcast: "Necromancers are the most frustrating class to fight, because even when you think you kill them they have that green ooze thing that means you have to do it again. They won’t ever blow you up, but they completely control the fight. They protect their teammates, prevent you from focusing on their buddies, and the good ones just keep the fight going longer than you want.

They are tougher than any other class to kill because they know they can’t get away. Every fight is a fight to the death for the team with the Necro so it’s completely different than anything else. 1v1 I will kill a Necro but in a group the good ones will completely control the fight with fears, chills, and if you get two Necros. MY GOD BLINDS EVERYWHERE!

So when you enter the fight with that Necro, you have to prepare yourself to kill or be killed. They won’t quit because they can’t." Check out the Mesmerized Podcast where Oscicat talks for about 15 minutes about fighting a good Necro.

A guardian told me, the only downside to a necro is they have no mobility so you can really only play the Two node which means any team that faces you knows exactly how to play you.

Finally, the top ranger on the EU side, “Necromancers are both hilarious and frustrating. They can completely wipe out any team, but they are easy to spot, dodge, and once you learn their cast animations you can prevent a large portion of their damage. If you mess up though they are crazy.”

What gets me bored sometimes is the few weapons to choose.

How is that when all of our weapons are viable and good? The only valid complaint I see about weapons is that staff is a must in most builds.

I’m 40+ r from mostly tourni’s and main a condi necro. In my experience I dominate most classes in 1v1 situations and feel like the MVP in team fights . Not trying to toot my own horn, but I feel a well played necro is beyond good, so reading the threads about tier lists and overall hate for the necro came as a shock.

Why do people feel that way about the necromancer?

In high lvl tPvP necros are beyond good. A well played condi necros can completely dominate a team battle and are some of the best at 1v1s.

Not to mention that power and MM builds are not only viable but very good now when played right. Good luck trying to take a point from a soldier MM by yourself.

ALL of our weapons are good and have there places in the above builds giving the necromancer a wide array of options/builds that should make most classes jealous.

In PVE I can’t even comprehend how some one could complain about the necromancer, so I’m not even going to touch on that.

In WvW we can’t get caught in 1v2 situations because of our lack of escape mechanics(by design), but excel in team fights. Run with a premade group and wreck shop.

Its true, I liked the gw1 necromancer more. But in gw2 the necromancer is not even close to being bad, dead or boring!

The opinion of a rank 40+, lvl 80, 30,000 WvW kills beta necro.

Staff feels clunky and unreliable.

I disagree completely.

Necros are in a good place, and of course you have to redo your traits for a different builds and dedicate those traits for that build.

Has any one not noticed that ALL of our weapons are viable!!!! Some classes wish they had all good weapon sets.

condition build- every one here knows how powerful it can be.

Power builds- completely viable now. Any many ways to play a power necro.

MM- the most underestimated builds. mm is one of the strongest 1v1 dueling builds in the game. if you disagree with that you don’t now kitten. Ntm great in pve besides high lvl fractals.

Necros have many great builds and weapon sets more so then a lot of other classes.

Of course I don’t just stand there to resummon. My point is as a mm when you get moah’d you are at a disadvantage compared to other classes and anet said this is not how they wanted it to work. Just thought miny moahs would be a good fix.

I have played MM regularly in tpvp. No good mesmer uses Moa. Time Warp is a significantly better elite for teams.

MoA getting rid of my minions is fine, by the time I am out of Moa they are ready to be summoned.

? Your minions are not ready to be summoned, and the utilities they offer are not ready. Not to mention after you get pounded as a moah when your Summons are ready you have to sit there and slowly summon them in combat. A good mess would have killed you, and messmers switch there elite often to moah when they see a mm.

No one has used MM regularly in pvp because of the terrible AI. Now that ppl are trying MM they’re noticing these problems. Another issue is the summoning CD being applied after the minion is killed and out of combat regen which I think is the bigger issue.

Well if CD was applied to minions when they spawn then you minus well make minions invincible because we can summon the minion back as soon as they die. Minion rejen out of combat would be nice, but if your already out of combat you minus well just switch skills wait for cd then resummon. Or let your minion die for a cloud.

Getting moah’d as mm is curtains.

BTW I approve dead little moahs

Full rabid/epidemic. Best dungeon build/excluding paths where destroying objects like ac burrows is important. With a decent group even those paths are not a problem.

Full rabid gear.
30 curses
10 death magic
30 up to you.

I run 0/30/20/20/0 pick up greater marks/well CD/obvious curse traits/Wob when rez

Wob/epidemic/signet of undeath/ and change out the last utility for the situation. Well of darkness is good for rezing. Locust/walk for kiting and m0vement.

Single target boss fights Wob/bip/sou/sol

Rabid necro

Epidemic= possibly highest dungeon dps in the game.

Rabid gear/ds = some of the highest survivability from a good necro.

Signet of undeath aoe rez and many support traits/wob/ aoe conditions= good support.

Necros are very good.

A lot of players are terrible.
