In zerg fights you have absolutely no need for more condition removal than the already up to 5 full/near full condition wipes (WoP, plague signet, CC, staff 4, dagger 4). Just CC and staff 4 will be more than enough, really.
Not to mention all the condi wipes your allies give. It actually surprises me people are defending spiteful removal the most out of all the traits listed.
2500+ hours on my necromancer, and not once did I even consider taking this trait over something else.
Guild Wars 2 PVP
Where the /dance emote is actually a viable skill to use in the middle of battle.
Am about to make a dance macro just to fight this bug. Btw as a necro who uses Spectral Armor / Spectral Walk / And WOP, this bug trolls me to no end.

I have not been fond of plague form in Tpvp as of late. I usually only use it to get a stomp or rez off. It sometimes helps me stay alive in a 2v1 while i wait for team support, but as a necro I never want to be an a 2v1 situation anyway.
Condi necro is so much more effective when they are not in plague form.
I almost just want to take lich form for a condi build so I ckittene #5 for Huge boon strip/condi cleanse real quick. still stomp and rez hmhmm….No I can’t people will make fun of me :C

You know most builds may not synergize but if you think about it for bunker purpose as a necro the DS hot and gain a condi gives 3% LF topped with critting to get 1% = endless ds. meaning a necro could pretty much stay in DS for ever if possible. just gotta set it up properly.
I’m assuming your talking about pvp even though the build your talking about isn’t viable anywhere.
Necro have no place as a bunker atm. We can not buff our team with a bunch of boons. We are lacking stability(we suck kitten at rezing and stomping), and the ability to decap.
But say you do go 6 points into Blood Magic just to “stay in DS forever”. You will get 5% lf every 3 seconds. In a team fight that’s not going to perpetuate Deathshroud. What if the condi transferred is 15 sec of burning?
And reapers precision??(how much crit chance will you have in a 6 BM bunker build?) Life transfer might gain you few extra lf percentages, but after that you will be spamming Life Blast. A slow..slow skill with a 33% chance to gain 1% LF on crit. With a build with no crit chance.
I actually sometimes take Speed of Shadows in WvW when my server is in minority. Apart from that I agree.
I chose speed of shadows because there is always a better choice(even in WvW). If your condi Path of Midnight/VP is just so much more useful. Power builds would go for VP/POM/Spec Mastery/Unyielding blast. Most WvW builds run spectral walk, just having spectral mastery would give you much more movement bonus then speed of shadows.
So I was surprised to see siphon traits slammed in this thread. Is siphon really that underpowered and are there other builds that blow this one clear out of the water for PvE content?
When it comes to PVE content any build can really be viable. But siphoning just under-performs. With a DPS build you can run around clearing content way faster, and still not die. Also full zerker is a must for dungeon groups.

Some traits that need to be looked at.
Spite
(III) Spiteful Removal: When you kill a foe remove 3 conditions. Has any one even used this in PvP or PVE? I would rather have something like remove a condition when a minion dies/sacrificed.
(VII)Spiteful Marks: Marks deal 10% damage. Mark damage is awful(except for putrid mark crit). There is absolutely no reason to take this trait.
(XIII)Parasitic Contagion: 5% of your condition damage heals you. This trait isn’t entirely weak in pve, I can’t imagine people using this over dhumbfire in a condi build still. No SPVP build would use this(Maybe WvW?? hmm no kitten this one as well).
Curses
(V)Reapers Precision 33% on crit to gain 1% Life force. GOD kitten it I take this trait a lot for power builds because there is no other choice. 33% chance for 1% gain is some serious weak sauce.
(XII)Withering Precision 5 sec of weakness on cirt… 20 sec cd. Yeah 20 sec cd makes this trait garbage.
Death Magic
(XII) Necrotic Corruption Minions have a 10% chance to remove a boon. Minion Mancers won’t get anything out of this trait(maybe a dueling server). We put our flesh wurm out of battle so we can escape. We detonate bone minions/and rarely use blood fiend(not to mention we sacrifice that as well) over CC. That leaves Flesh golem and bone fiend to with a 10% chance to remove a single targets boons. Useless.
(XIII)Unholy Sanctuary Regenerate health in DS. This trait is only worth a kitten with a decent healing power investment and if you stay in DS for long periods of time. . . . .Does anyone else see the problem with this SYNERGY? There is none.
Blood Magic
(II)Bloodthirst: Siphoning effectiveness +20%. Siphoning is in a terrible state atm, there is no reason to take a vampire build over another build in any part of Guild wars 2(vampire master trait is the only exception). That being said there is no reason to take this trait compared to something else..ever.
(V)Vampiric precision Siphon on crit. Same as above.
(IX)Deathly Invigoration Heal when you exit Death Shroud. If you have 1536 healing power(max amount without sigil in pvp) this trait will heal you for 1014 health. fml
(XII)Vampiric Rituals Wells siphon health. Again Siphoning just under performs in this game. Not to mention any one with a triple digit IQ will move out of your wells. And in PVE you would trait to kill quickly.
(XIII)Unholy Martyr In DS draw 1 condition from allies every 3 seconds, gain 5% life force. Gawrrrufffggggsdfn ANet.
Soul Reaping
(V)Speed of shadows: 25% movement speed in DS. No one would use this trait compared to others.
(XIII)Renewing Blast Life blast heals allies it passes through. This trait has a lot of healing potential. To bad its fn broken. I’ll give my team mate a 6 round LB facial and it just wont register sometimes. Ug i wish this one worked properly, me hilarious to see pve groups standing in lines to get epic heals.
There is a few more, but they sorta have there place some where in the game. Toxic landing for jump puzzles and kitten etc etc.
I love getting thrown off the cliff and not dying. Watching as wurms slowly kill me as my team mates are asking where i am.

Should of named this thread Rune Tier list..I know
I would like to see a thread with a complete listing of PVP runes categorized in tiers.
Something like :
1)Best- These runes are the most powerful. They stand out in overall performance.
2)Viable- These runes can be used for a niche role or build.
3)Bad- These runes simply get out performed by other runes that are similar, or just terrible in general.
I believe having a detailed list could help developers make appropriate changes.
I am not proficient with every class, so I ican’t make a list that will be completely accurate or complete.
Can any one take the time to make this list?
Maybe list a few rune sets that are close to being viable but need to be tweeked a bit?
Will update thread when a decent list is agreed upon.

Somebody please help us.
When we moved into our new house I was very excited. It seemed like a nice house, a new place where I could finally show my potential.
But something’s wrong with mother.
She locked me and all my siblings in the addict one day. She told us to stay here and be good kids. All we had was each other, and our beloved pets we brought with us.
Everyday she would bring us cookies that we split among each other. What ever crumbs we had leftover we feed to our cat and dog. That’s when we noticed something strange. Our pets started going mad! They just stared at us not moving an inch. Then just repeatedly ran into the wall until they died.
My smaller siblings started to get ill. THE COOKIES WERE POISONED!
They really needed help, I had to break open that door.
I tried using all of my power, but it had no effect on the reinforced doors.
And everyone’s conditions just kept getting worse.
Everyday I watched as my loved ones wander around our attic. Hearing the sounds of them fall over repeatedly, having no stability to keep them up. If only i ran away in time. It would be better to live on the streets as a common thief or brute, anything but this.
But it’s to late for that. Everything is getting darker..wait why is no one moving!? O they must be sleeping..

This thread is just becoming pointless at this point, so I suggest that all of you just resist the urge to keep it alive because the necromancer community just can’t be satisfied.

That is the best build i have ever seen. Thank you for bringing this spec to the attention of the necromancer community. My life is changed. Necro is now the king of all.

As a necro, this bug has bent me over repeatedly, and let the entire enemy team have their way with my stiff soft necromancer body
I will get blasted over the cliff and not die.
So i have to run around and find a wurm, and watch it slowly kill me to death. Then wait for the death Q.
This is not a single time glitch, this crap has happened many many times.
If skyhammer wasen’t bad enough.
I have been experiencing a troubling bug where I die instantly for no reason. This bug occurs when I exit Death Shroud(I still have 15,000 HP+), and then I will be downed. This has happened to me in a dueling server and a tournament in the last few days. Only during 1v1s, and not on skyhammer.
My combat log doesn’t give any information on what happened, and the people i was fighting where also dumbfounded by what happened.
Has anyone else experienced this before?
Also I been getting the Immobilized for nor reason bug often, i swear this has been around since beta.

One thing to note about Well of Power, It is our only source of vigor.
Since this well converts bleeding into vigor you are able to get 25 secs of vigor sometimes. Bleeding is the first condition to be prioritized and is also a very common condition. Getting 20 seconds of vigor from WOP is not uncommon.

The best part of this build has to be the Soul Eater reference. Not saying its a bad build but I would highly recommend some simple changes.
Use runes of Strength, and put 2 points from Death Magic and put it into spite for Reapers might. The other 2 points in DM should be used for Chill of death(spite) or Path of Corruption(curses).
Swap Well of power for blood Blood is power.
I know it sorta ruins the theme of a perma swiftness, but why be Speed Star when you can be Shadow Star?
PS sorry for not finishing the OP before commenting, I see you talk about some of these ideas at the end of your post. But still think this is the build that should of been posted :P.

If we wanted something unique for necro I’d say lets bring in the Hex! Our old friend from GW1 the Hex is a debuff that required its own removal and was unaffected by condi cleanse.
Possible implementation:
- New trait in curses or spite: “Hex”; weakness, chill, cripled and torment applied by the necromancer is unaffected by condition removal.Ok so this would need serious balancing regarding the duration of these conditions ofc but it would make necro the true master of condition based CC.
I left the other damaging conditions away from this because that would be totally op.

I would like to see the class become more like a living plague, by keeping enemies restrained and continuously debuffing them. I know some of my suggestions would be OP without other changes,
but I’m just gonna throw out some ideas.
Endurance debuff – Enimies have -% endurance rejen when we are in DS. It would be cool if this would just be an effect that couldn’t be cleansed, instead of a new condition, not likely though.
Shadow Casket Well- a Well with Walls that would lock opponents in it(sorta like guards i guess :| ), could add a lot of strategy to team fights. If the necromancer is in well you can not leave.
Aoe chills: i Know we have a lot of access to chill, but i think a weakening shroud that Chilled would be pretty cool.
Some more boon corruption stuff to build on are strengths.
An intelligent retaliation effect- I like the idea of necros becoming a cactus, but retaliation is so passive, and im not a huge fan of that kind of play. Some sort of skill that punishes players if we skillfully react to their burst or focusing.
More pulls?
And a cry note. Necros should of really been the class with a vengeance downstate!

Yeah i know, it competitive play its worthless. Just watched a duel, MM with NC vs a guard, the boon removal was impressive, but defiantly not practical or useful in real spvp situations. Was also wandering a way anet could fix it.

I like it. I bounce between rank yolo Q 40-90 been using a similar build, and its quite effective in this boon meta. But like you said, this build is very weak 1v1.

Yes, nearly all the complaints comes from necro being viable in Team pvp. The rest comes from PVE.

Necros are not a frontline class. They get juggled by CC so easily on every build, so if you see a Necro defending a node you can pretty much guarantee they will lose, even the allegedly OP Minion Master build.
So that leaves midline and backline, which means that they need people on their team to fight on the node for them, and they have to provide more to their team than just condi pressure or max damage autoattacks.
Wells on Necro should be first and foremost on their minds in team play. Why Corrupt one guy’s boons when you can corrupt the entire point’s boons. Why give them the opportunity to focus you when you can drop Well of Darkness and they thrash around unable to hit you. After Well goes down, go Plague. If your teammates are so bad that they can’t kill anyone thrashing around at perma blind, then realize that. If you don’t want to get 1 shot in team play, then why aren’t you bringing something more tanky or building to be more tanky.
As for defensiveness, any class that has a second health mechanic that can be made much more durable by Vital Persistance and isn’t using it has a fundamental lack of understanding of the class. It’s a 10 point trait that turns you into an incredibly hard to kill SOB in 1v1, and even in group situations you are hard to focus, esp when your Spectral Armor procs.
Life siphon Wells are very strong, but, for some reason AoE support, control, life stealing, and, with Clerics ammy, the best AoE heal in the game are “not viable” /rolleyes.
I almost want to call the Necro community the NeQQromancers.

EVERY Guild wars 2 PvP competition since launch has had a lack or complete absence of Necromancers. I believe this topic deserves a dev response.

1. Base duration is low.
2. Deathshroud op..I really thought i would never hear that. Really who the hell thinks DS is op.
3. Dumbfire just got nerfed, and it’s terrible right now. A lot of condi necro’s don’t even take it.
4. True, could be toned down.
5. Guess what. It does only convert 5 boons..It got a nerf a while ago.

This skill has always been a bit unreliable. When you use corrupt boon it, i believe it shoots an invisible projectile at your target that can get be stopped by terrain. Like spectral grasp. Why would they program the skill like this? Who the hell nows.
