The whole point of 3-way fights is to have strategic 2v1s. The only problem is that Anet botched the ranking system so that it actively discourages #2 and #3 from teaming up on #1.
PvP-wise, EoTM is an epic failure. I predict Anet will continues pushing in that direction anyway for WvW.
Currently, the open/closed status of dungeons can be avoided by guesting to a server with an open dungeon. Any guesses on how this will work with the megaservers?
Likely Anet hasn’t considered this at all, I’d bet.
This is just a server merge in a slightly different form.
Anyway, I wonder how this will affect things like guilds overflowing zones on purpose in order to do world events.
Also, what about dungeon open/close statuses? Currently, you can find an open dungeon by guesting.
Are you using Google Chrome? Open an Incognito window.
Great idea… hadn’t thought of that.
Alternatively, clear cookies from guildwars2.com and you won’t be forced to log in (if you already have an account).
go to EoTM, you can get all your achievements there, the fights are better, the loot is better, the map is better. There is literally no reason to go into the normal WvW maps.
haha. You said fights are better.
It is definitely a good PvE map for karma training.
This. What a massive waste of dev time EoTM was. Imagine if that time were spent addressing the issues in real WvW.
Haven’t done Arah story mode in a while… is Zhaitan even dynamically rendered, or completely pre-rendered? Aren’t his movements and behaviors completely predetermined?
inb4 selling arah story mode to pvp’ers
Players who almost only pvp don’t really have the gold to buy dungeon paths, lol. Have you seen the silver rewards from TPVP soloq and teamq. There’s even a daily limit after which even if you do more TPVP matches you can’t gain more gold (but even so you’d have to spam quite a friggin’ lot to even think of reaching the cap. I’m not even sure if it’s humanely possible unless you share the account with someone else which is something that can result in an account ban)
There aren’t enough PvPers (who don’t PvE) to make money off anyway.
It’s not even just the big fights. There’s been lots of lag spikes ever since EoTM was introduced.
wow. That’s a lot of bugs.
Anyone else notice that the sword’s third autoattack (the projectiles) don’t hit siege in WvW? They pass right through without doing damage. (Tested on ballista in open field with nothing else around to hit.)
There is indeed hope:
Before: zero competition —> zero effort on improving GW2
Now: competition on the horizon --> all sorts of features and fixesfor GW2’s sake, I hope the competition does well.
You do understand that all these ‘features and fixes’ were probably months and months in the making don’t you? Or do you think that Anet is blind and suddenly realized ,“Hey TESO/ other MMO is here let’s work 24/7 to catch up!” If you think the later, well, I guess you don’t understand how long it takes to make updates like we are seeing now. If you think Anet wasn’t aware of other MMOs on the horizon and what they had planned over a year ago then I don’t know what to tell you.
You do realize that TESO and Wildstar have been on the radar for longer than that right? They knew they were coming and it’s no coincidence that the feature pack is dropping at the same time as those games release.
The worst part is that a lot of these features were probably held back so that they could be released to counter the new MMOs.
Anyhow, there’s enough room in the market for more than one MMO and the more competition the better.
Here’s your solution. Make your own LFG stating how you want to play and stop complaining about how others want to play.
The answer is no. They won’t do anything about it except for delete threads that mention cheating/hacking.
I think they should just give it all away to rank 10 players. What about that?
My guess is that most PvEers who want dungeon armor would rather buy runs from sellers than sPvP.
Yeah. Anet really screwed this one up.
I don’t think their intention was ever to craft one set and never bother about making a new one, that’s what Legendaries are for, but making Ascended account bound means you will have to make fewer sets for your characters.
As you say, different traits/builds require new stats, but that Knight’s Set you made for your Guardian build 1 can also be used on your Warrior build 2 while your Berserker set for Warrior build 1 can be used on your Guardian build 2.
With the old system you’d have to make 2 Knights and 2 Berserkers, now you need 1 Knights and 1 Berserkers. You WILL save a lot of money if you are really making multiple builds per character.
Accountbound Ascended gear is better than soulbound. And getting hit in the head once with a hammer is better than getting hit twice. But I prefer not to get hit in the head with a hammer at all.
It’s apparent that Anet knows there’s an issue with the Ascended grind, but IMO they underestimate how much it discourages people from trying new builds.
Perhaps the best thing to do is to remind PvEers that they can go to EoTM …
that they can just karma train against other PvEers and get their achievements there much faster than in real WvW.
Yeah. Anet really screwed this one up.
New skills/traits lead to new builds which stop the game from becoming stale.
However, new builds lead to the necessity for new gear, which requires awful grind.
Anet has implicitly admitted this by making Ascended gear accountbound. But it’s not enough. The grind is still there. Anet can’t win, but they did it to themselves.
There is indeed hope:
Before: zero competition —> zero effort on improving GW2
Now: competition on the horizon —> all sorts of features and fixes
for GW2’s sake, I hope the competition does well.
Too bad these runes will now be worthless.
The boon on heal was great, and the all-boons was great on my necro, who really needed them.
Anet is moving away from dungeon content. Good idea or not, this will never happen.
I can see people leaving the game because these feature changes are too little too late… but leaving because of the changes — it doesn’t seem like there are many people who will do that.
It will be the left-most 5 conditions I believe, as those are the “first” ones to be placed on you.
If a condition is reapplied when it’s still on you, it doesn’t move positions — does that mean it’s still considered an “old” condition?
Thanks for the numbers!
is it for PvP only or also PvE?
Yes to all, though less so for #2.
The funny thing is that by making Ascended gear account bound, Anet is implicitly admitting that getting it is an awful grind.
The funny thing is that with DPS loss, groups will less be able to afford to carry non-zerkers. Expect to see even more gear checks, at least in the short run.
What is the DPS difference between DS #1 and Dagger #1? Anyone done experiments?
The real issue is that Anet is only doing what they’re doing because of the release of a new MMO in April. Look at how lackluster they’ve been with QoL updates when they’ve had no competition. Hopefully the new MMOs coming out will succeed and really force Anet to pick up their game.
Delete them. It’ll show up in Anet’s precious metrics leading to a chance (albeit small) that they’ll do something about this issue. Your sacrifice will be noted.
Also I have the feeling, that once a new overflow has been created you cant get away from it. The game keeps putting me into the same overflow again and again. And since the older overflow was outmanned 5min ago I doubt the reason is a full old overflow.
Maybe there are very few instances of EoTM — or even just one? Outside of karma training and PvEers doing their dailies, EoTM doesn’t seem very popular anymore (for good reason IMO).
Working as intended. Now ask me if it’s a kittened design decision and double standards with regards to the guardian’s symbol.
While the guardian symbol now stacks, it now metes out its swiftness in very small increments so you have to stay in it for the full duration to get any reasonable amount of swiftness.
That would be a horrible change if made for temporal curtain as well.
Thanks for the info everyone!
The message that came with the WXP trait reset last week said that there wouldn’t be any resets during the season. So don’t bet on acct bound WXP happening any time soon.
Thank A-Net troll buff is a + and makes skipping more dangerous. + 1 for put more skill requirements in PVE.
How so? I don’t believe the troll could be skipped before.
Is it random, or can I control where it spawns?
Not just you. I’m NA and since EoTM, lag/skill lag has gotten much worse. It’s pretty bad considering another MMO that showcases its version of WvW is coming out soon.
We are actually very open and accepting of players that wish to express their opinions, even negative ones, we just have a hard line when it comes to our forum code of conduct. Stick to that and I can guarantee your posts will not be removed.
The mods can find at least one offending post in practically every single thread. They use this to trashcan entire threads when the criticism gets too much for Anet to handle.
So your guarantee is pretty empty: legit criticism posts are routinely removed at the whim of the mods.
IMO, the solution for this needs to be:
- in PvE/WvW traits can be equipped by characters that unlocked them,
- in PvP traits can be equipped by characters that have them unlocked by at least one character of the account.
As it has been in GW1.
The real reason behind unlocks!
drumroll
Gem Store
Sorry, I don’t get this point. What has the gem store to do with unlocks? Or is this just forum paranoia?
~MRA
If rerolling is disincentivized (as is the case here), then more players will buy character slots. That’s clearly the reasoning behind this.
Deathmatch will really show off how unbalanced/OP some of the professions are.
I duno why people are so attracted to HoD.
If you open up free transfers, everyone is going to go to the highest server that has it. Why go lower? Yet another massive Anet blunder.
I thought OP was going to say “Come to my seminar.”
2. I disagree, but I do believe I understand where you are coming from. You have to understand that different people have different values and that we can’t cater to everyone, though we certainly try to do the best job we can.
ANet already catered to the people who wants progression in PvP, and it has been there since launch. It is called WvW. I don’t like the progression in WvW, so I rather go into sPvP instead.
Please let sPvP be catered to people who gets everything right from the start and keep the horizontal/vertical/diagonal/linear/branching/etc progression in WvW. Let sPvP progression be about cosmetic items that doesn’t affect combat in any way.
The funny thing is that WvW players didn’t want WXP and knew it would hurt the game mode. It was, and still is a horrible mistake. Character-bound WXP even more so. Looks like Anet is making the exact same mistake with sPvP.
1. Yes, this is somewhat of a pivot on our part, but I believe we are still holding true to our philosophy because this is a horizontal progression system. Every player is still equal in potential power as it is only the range of choice that is variable between players.
You can spin this any way you like (when you see “pivot” you know it’s spin)
…but it doesn’t matter whether you call it horizontal or vertical progression. If new players start out kitten relative to veteran players, then you are violating your former philosophy of level playing field for all.
There are customers, so people clearly want the service.
You don’t like it, then don’t buy.
It’s a ploy to sell character slots because now you won’t be able to delete characters so easily.
I fought a Troll in HoTW and got AC tokens!
If it doesn’t affect population/coverage distribution, it won’t affect the outcome of the tournament.
