Megaserver in Orr is one of the best things to happen to that place. There’s actually people there now! If you don’t like the temples staying open you can spend a bit of gold and skill points at a trainer and unlock them that way.
How to perform a daily event, if the temple is open all the time?
Need a PvP team to kill those who protect temples
This is hilarious! When are we going to start seeing people/guilds keeping temples open 24/7 on purpose in order to “grief” those who need skills? I’d say pretty soon.
We’re working on it and it’s just around the corner and coming soon.
You forgot the mandatory “exciting.”
They’re trying to push people away from bunker builds.
They’re not trying anything. This nerf is merely a side effect of the way they’re dealing with zerkers in PvE.
I’m pretty sure this issue never even crossed Anet’s mind when designing megaservers. So likely going to whatever PvE zone is the equivalent of Lion’s Arch will soon no longer be possible.
A lot of PvE players WvW very casually by following the map zerg. Unless it’s Friday’s karma-train, it adds some spice to the really boring and tedious PvE where everything is always exactly the same (even more so with the new bus-schedule of champion events).
If WvW dies (very likely as Anet seems to hate it), the game will be hurt a lot more than Anet may believe.
Am I the only one that thinks they’re not going to do more dungeons and in fact they’re moving away from them – from instanced hardcore content?
This. Look at their precious Living Story. There were a few dungeons initially, but by the end, everything was a zergfest.
Just did ACp3 with my usual 3-man group of semi-play-how-you-wanters. It was significantly easier… the bosses just melted compared to before the patch.
Also did a solo of SEp1 — it was also quite a bit faster than usual.
I think it’s time for Anet to introduce “Hard mode” for dungeon, all Lvl 80 version of the current dungeon with slightly different things.
This is a great idea. Downscaling has not been implemented well in this game: not before the patch — where you basically lost all your stats — and not now, where things are probably way too easy for 5-man parties.
I’d prefer a more interesting hard mode (gambits a la Queen’s Gauntlet), but this is right up Anet’s alley because it’d take practically zero effort to implement.
I was always under the impression that most story dungeon runners were inexperienced and doing it for the first time. Are there really LFGs asking for “Experienced, speed run” for story mode?
I say in party chat “Am I the only DPS….I was out DPS’ing three of you with staff”
One ele says “I was doing heals”… -_- you take that for what you will…
Another ele says “I’m DPS” This ele was S/d so it is believable based off weapon choice.Staff necro. You deserve your fate.
More like: Necro. You deserve your fate.
My guess: they’ll be selling those Level-to-20-instantly scrolls soon in the gemstore.
You clearly have no idea what you’re typing.
and clearly, you haven’t tried to do the Northern Shiverpeaks daily temple zerg. An hour wasted trying to get a map with contested temples and we still havent finished the run. Nice one Anet, kill it for us, we’ve only been doing it every day for 18 months.
Wherever you decide to put it, it needs a choice adding “go megaserver for this map, or stay on my homeworld”
That’s too bad. The temple zerg was one of the few things that brought people together every day. I can see it dissolving if it gets too frustrating.
As for the choice to go to megaserver or stay on homeworld — that’ll never happen. The whole point of the megaservers is to save money on server resources (fewer map instances means less resources needed). Homeworld instances aren’t going to be in this game for much longer.
Good luck finding a party now that more people are TRYING DIFFERENT THINGS. I can almost guarantee you’ll spend more time looking for your ideal party than it would take to just get over yourself and do the kitten dungeon.
Absolutely false. Damage is still the meta. No one who was using zerker gear will be changing to other stats. Those who were using Assassins (which were better in some cases) will be moving to zerkers as Assassins got hit hard by the nerf.
In fact, more people will end up playing zerkers because groups will now be less accepting of having a non-zerker in the group.
The short version is that the pre will run even if the world boss is not ready to spawn. You have to wait until the appropriate time, then the pre will spawn the boss. I don’t know why they did it this way, but that’s how it seems to be working.
I admit I don’t know didly about programming, but why only one at a time? Why not, for example, 3 at a time: 1 low level, 1 medium level, 1 high level? Or a rolling offset schedule? Or even 2 at a time with both having a rolling schedule so it’s not the same ones each time at that time period?
Off the top of my head, there shouldn’t be a programming reason for them to not spawn multiple bosses at one time. I would think the reason is elsewhere.
The more you know about when players will play and where they’re going to play, the more information you have about how much server resources to allocate/rent at any given time. That information saves you money.
I suspect Anet will start selling Experience scrolls (instant to level 20) in the gemstore soon. If they do, then we know the real reason behind the trait point slowdown.
A champ train was far more than the silver generated from it. People still don’t understand that for some it was a fun, lighthearted, social aspect of the game.
+1
I just thought is was a mindless zerg running around – who knew. I tried doing one and all I found it WAS mindless and nothing social at all.
So you did it once and found it mindless and not social, therefore it’s always mindless and not social for everyone else as well. Got it.
But does it destroy the progress of the party?
Anet did not change the champ train because of “anti-champ whiners”. They did it because the saw their game turning into a bunch of people zerging a path over and over and over again. If I had created a game with a specific vision and saw people were just sticking to one specific spot running the same path over and over, I’d change it too.
Except that getting all your grandmaster traits if you have alts is exactly zerging the same paths over and over.
As for changing things to force customers into your vision: that’s how businesses fail.
Now there will be more zerker only LFGs because those zerker groups that previously had enough DPS to bring a non-zerker with them now won’t be able to.
Not sure which is worse: that they just did a hasty cut-and-paste, or that they didn’t even bother to check their changes even once (or they certainly would have noticed the token issue).
“Sorry, I gotta go. I have the 4:15 Fire Shaman I gotta catch.”
If you want to make Tyria feel more like people’s dreary real lives, you’ve succeeded.
The trait UI screen is very clunky. There is a confirmation box if you want to invest multiple points in a line but not if you use the +/- arrows. Selecting a trait then having to move over to the side of the UI every time you want to replace a trait or select the adept/master/grandmaster of that tier is annoying. The dropdown box was much more efficient. I select where I want to put the points and my cursor is still right where I go to select the trait that I want.
100% this. There was really no reason to remove the right-mouse dropdown box … with it gone, traiting is noticeably more tedious.
The funny thing is that the champ trains were one of the very few instances in GW2 where pugs would interact and be a community.
Anyway, the question now is: do we go clockwise or counter-clockwise in EoTM?
… has it been fixed?
Not sure why they got rid of the right-mouse click to choose traits. Now you have to move your mouse all over the place.
WXP becoming accountbound doesn’t count as a feature.
It should have been accountbound to begin with. When it was introduced, the game’s soulbound features were being shifted to being accountbound. Only Anet’s stubbornness and refusal to admit wrong kept it soulbound for so long.
EoTM karma training. Everyone will shift to that.
IMO it would have been better just to make all dungeons level 80 and upscale players to 80…. after all, dungeons are basically treated as endgame content anyway.
From the update notes:
“Creatures in the level range of 11-79 have had their stats adjusted to account for the player obtaining traits and stats from trait lines later on in the leveling process.”
Does this mean all dungeons besides Arah will have creature stats nerfed?
Where did the invulnerables at 3:59 and 4:05 come from? (At 4:05, the player used sword #2, but why were the wardens/clones invulnerable?)
Terrible idea. EoTM is a karma train because it’s not fun. Why force it on people by making it part of WvW?
I’d be nice to have one new EB and one new BL map put into the rotation. BUT…
…if new maps have the potential to look like the bloodlust ruins, EoTM, or skyhammer, then I’d rather play with the same old maps we have now.
Honor of the Waves.
A mighty troll slain. He cries…
Tears of Ascalon.
I’ve noticed Queensdale champ trains have had significant population decreases over the past month or so. My guess: Anet shouldn’t have been so complacent when there was no MMO competition.
Schedules mean server load can be better predicted, which means money savings.
If the merge guild is anything like the LFG merge party, then no thanks.
Exciting updates!

The act of crafting is indeed horribly tedious: possibly the worst designed part of the game. This would help a bit:
One-click crafting:
- You click on the item and automatically your item is crafted (along with all necessary intermediates, of course).
On the other hand, this is the one feature that protects you from being kicked at the end of a run so that others can replace you with a guildie.
You might want to start now. As I understand it, traits will be a pain to get for characters created after April 15 while characters created before April 15 will be grandfathered in.
It’s a slightly better measure than nothing, which is what you’d have without looking at APs.
I really hope Anet learns something from the massive fail that’s EoTM.
I like the 2g my fractal 50 runs make me, I also love receiving uninfused condition rings, Thank you anet!
would you rather rings didn’t drop at all? Someone can use those rings (I’m running a condition based necro -_-) and every time when you’re dealing with RNG loot you’re not guaranteed something useful to you. The same way that even if you solo raids in WoW the gear that will drop is likely to be the wrong class for you to wear it.
I would rather you could buy ascendeds with a ticket system (pristine relics) too, I don’t like RNG, however a lot of players were complaining that no loot drops that make them feel like a special butterfly in a dungeon take away the excitement at the same time as Anet was trying to make crafting extra important and because of that we have this RNG mess in the first place.
RNG loot is probably fine if, when you get stuff you don’t need, you can sell to others who do want it. Fractal rings (and Ascended drops in general) are almost always completely worthless to the player (aside from the very low vendor value).
So to answer your question: It may be better if the rings didn’t drop at all and their spot in the loot table were replaced with something that can be TP’d.
Give them some credit. They did rename Guard Leech.
Anet’s really shady with their statistics. Remember when they included WvW players as PvP population?
