Just got hacked. Got no authentication of anyone trying to log in ad for some reason i have a mobile authenticator tied to my account when i did not put one. all money is gone….. I’m so sad :/
Same thing happened to a friend of mine today between 7:00pm and 10:00pm pacific time. No email authentication was sent. He just logged in and found that his stuff was gone. VERY disturbing.
Did you send a ticket through support?
Friend got hacked, but:
- He didn’t receive authentication email that’s normally sent when you try to log on from a non-authorized email address.
- His email login history shows nothing suspicious so it wasn’t that somone had his email password and deleted the authorization email.
- His computer has checked out to be clean.
- Conclusion: no authentication email was sent.
This happened to anyone else?
Well its seems the solution is to just make certain armors salvageable now. There is no need to bring back the old mechanic for such a minor issue
Or make Upgrade Extrator CHEAP, and able to extract everything of every armor/weapon in the game, whatever the method you used to get it.
But how is Anet supposed to gouge those who need to move their enormously expensive infusions off of their gear if they do that?
Now that the Heart of the Mists is a megaserver, anyone have an estimate of the sPvP population?
Just a note to those who are using it for armor/weapons:
You can’t salvage badges gear. So if you put an upgrade like a sigil or rune, you cannot recover it without buying a (very expensive) Upgrade Extractor from the gemstore.
Join zerg in EotM. Run until you have about 1000-1500 badges. Go to your server’s borderlands, buy exotic armor and weapons from armor\weapon master.
Be warned that you can’t salvage this gear. So if you put a rune/sigil on such gear, it is unrecoverable unless you use the obscenely expensive Upgrade Extractor from the gemstore.
The time to cater to GW1 players has long since passed. Most have left the game already. So we likely will never see any GW1 skins in this game.
They promised Carrion in the “next” batch of Ascended trinkets. One and a half years ago.
They rewarded people for stacking in season 1. They’re rewarding people for stacking in season 2. No difference.
They gave out so many Badges of Honor in the Achievement chests that it can never be used as a currency to buy good stuff again. Why did they do this? Who knows.
Unskippable cutscenes? No thanks. Especially if you’re going to have so little new content that players are expected to run the same content over and over and over…

This is why stealth nerfs are so bad. Because there have been stealth nerfs in the past, people will always suspect they exist every patch.
Not sure why Anet can’t just be straightforward — the trust of your customers is probably more important than hiding a nerf that people are going to discover anyway.
If there is a big flamewar between people from matched up servers in WvW, then it’s probably a megaserver.
So the obvious solution of having a different megaserver for each of the language-based servers doesn’t work why? Is this just Anet saving money?
any advance??? almost 5 months…
Maybe after they finish the Fractal Leaderboards?
They didn’t say anything, just commenting on scores on millenium.org (which is kind of sad)
They seem oblivous to what transfer policies do to match-ups.
‘HoD looks like they made a huge move’ …. no kitten Sherlock, wonder why?
’There’s not as many blow-outs as last season, so it looks like we made progress’ — /lol
On the HoD comment: I think they’re just trying to make it sound like really exciting™ things are happening: “HoD, the low ranked server is doing so well, who knew they could pull it all together!” It’ll likely fool non-WvW players. Because they can’t be that out of touch, can they?
As for blowouts. I believe the winner of every match except maybe one or two (NA) has been determined by the end of the weekend. Don’t know if that’s better or worse than last season, but in an absolute sense, it’s really bad.
PM “Heitred”. He might have tested it already.
Fixed that for you.
Yep… looks like he did test it:
Fun fact: I had a friend of mine telling me that the other day he was selling arah with another friend. One guy joins; they ask: “Are you here to buy the path?”
No answer, not even after a whisper, so they kick him after a couple of minutes.
The same guy rejoins; kicked. Again; kicked.
“What the hell are you doing here if you don’t want to buy?”
“I’m selling arah too”
“?!?”
“I was trying to merge and destroy your instance”
…
Dunno about you, but I found it incredibly hilarious…
… it means that idiocy can still surprise me and apparently anet did manage to fix merging. Huzzah.
The problem is that every single condition has to be updated every quarter second in order to determine damage (because if you get might, for example, the bleed stacks that you’ve already put on someone will tick for more damage). This means a tremendous amount of data must be transferred and processed every single second.
If your proposal ends up costing the same amount of data transfer/processing, then it’s not viable.
A better solution is fire-and-forget conditions: Once applied, the damage-per-tick is unaffected by changes in the condition damage of the applier. This saves a LOT of data transfer and processing power. As a free bonus, it makes more sense flavorwise as well: once I’ve applied my bleed, why would me getting might change the damage of that bleed?
The failure to split EU communities by there home server (esp language based ones)- shows the lack of US understanding on different societies work. Europe is a very complex hub of many languages, cultures, histories and styles.
I don’t think it’s that — it’s money. Anet is just trying to save as much money as possible. The obvious solution is to have a megaserver for each language. But that would mean several copies of each map (one for each language) must be instanced at any time-- and that’s more costly than one single copy with everyone dumped into it.
Being that EoTM is just a karma train, the only thing needed to communicate is “clockwise” and “counter-clockwise.” I’m sure GW2 players are smart enough to learn these two words in a variety of languages.
Just put people on French servers into the same megaserver, those on English servers into the same megaserver, etc.
Is Anet so desperate for money that they can’t afford to have one instance of each map for each language? Perhaps the reports of dwindling population are true after all?
There is an area in the EB jumping puzzle (Obsidian Sanctum) that was created as a free for all zone where people could GvG. GvG is not sanctioned by Anet and in fact the only reason this area exists is because of a major public relations debacle where an Anet employee griefed a GvG at the windmill (in BL).
This new area is not affected by the extra stats that may be gained from the (failed) ruins area of the BLs.
What’d they say? Anything exciting™ coming up?
Just do it in EoTM. That’s what it’s for: karma training.
I’m slightly disappointed the NSP PvEers didn’t come out en masse after Tuesday. After all beating IoJ this week would have given them a good chance to get a guaranteed reward weapon. Their loss.
Nice job! What dungeon’s next? Or you want to work on better times?
Selfish much? The open world doesn’t belong to you. Plus, you have a really bad attitude:
If somebody interferes I disengage and watch them die and then laugh about it.
And the funny/sad thing is that you probably made this thread expecting people to sympathize with you.
I havent had a day where I didnt encounter a group that didnt have a mixture of this
I run a PVT staff/gs guardian for dungeons and open world content. Never had issues when the group knows what they’re supposed to do. Personally I like PVT better than zerker because it’s amusing for me to watch zerkers die and then flip out and wonder why I’m not dying to the same things.
They die because you’re not doing enough DPS and causing the runs to be longer than their gear can handle. That’s why zerkers don’t like to play with those who have low DPS.
This is the mentality that makes me think I should never run zerker in the first place. IF my lack of critical hits is what you count as “not enough dps,” and on top of disregarding any other damage, then quite frankly you should learn to dodge and avoid damage more. In the meantime, I’ll keep killing things while you’re taking a dirt nap. Bye mr elitist.
Don’t worry, I’d never play with a staff guardian with PVT gear in a dungeon — and definitely not with someone who think’s he’s the hero who survived the fight when in fact he was the cause of everyone else going down.
Making full use of a benefit is an exploit?
No, it’s making use of a game feature or bug that the Dev did not intend.
They intended that we could guest to other servers and they made those nodes available to us. Therefore it’s an intended use of a feature.
LOL. He looked up exploit in the dictionary and cut-and-pasted without understanding what it said.
Where do people see all these characters running out and about? I took my guardian for some map completion adventure and haven’t spotted more then four players while adventuring in mid-level zones. So I was left soloing events and champions as usual.
The megaserver changes are being rolled out from the lowest level zones to the highest, so it is quite possible you are just above the level where the roll out is at this point.
No they’re not: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Tyria_map_with_megaserver_zones.jpg
If it’s a hardware issue as some may have suggested and the game can’t handle more than one world boss at a time, I think they may have bigger problems. I don’t play other MMO’s but I’m pretty sure every other one out there, F2P or not can handle it
It’s not that they can’t handle it. It’s that Anet is unwilling (or unable) to spend the money on the server time/resources required.
Legendaries were never legendary
This. In any case, with the Ascended grind, the main advantage of Legendaries is now the OOC stat swap not the skin.
last I heard, upgrade extractor does not remove infusions. otherwise, you’re right: it would be useful to be able to take a +10 infusion out and make a +11 once you collect enough to make the 2nd +10.
I believe you can:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/crafting/Upgrade-Extractor
unless they’ve changed it recently.
which is surely “work in progress”.
I think everyone here understands there is no work being progressed. Even if there was, ArenaNet’s utter refusal to communicate and total lack of consistency and focus means it doesn’t matter.
I’m not sure how you can have such a positive outlook. We’re going to go into Living World season 2 having gotten no WvW content or quality-of-life updates, so the one chance they had to actually do something will be gone, and maybe in a few years we’ll get different colored commander tags or something equally simple that could have been knocked out in a week.
They really need to work on their playerbase communication. We’ve got bugs sitting for years with absolutely no dev interaction, a ton of threads posted about the same issue because either a dev has never said anything or they said something 8 months ago and it’s sitting in the back of the forum, and a terrible lack of consistency for the things they actually leave a message for.
100% this. Don’t know why there are so many people who, knowing Anet’s history with WvW (and dungeons and sPvP), still insist that good things are being worked on and will be coming soon.
Does it still drop Ascalonian Tears?
+1
the extractor was always a joke with it’s price, and now our other options of transmuting our expensive runes from our exotics to our ascendeds is completely gone.
I belive the upgrade extractors was created to gouge people who needed to extract infusions, hence the outrageous price if you’re using it to recover runes/sigils.
Your only hope is that this post makes it so prevalent that Anet must do something about it.
Sad that a personal DPS meter would easily resolve all this in less than 10 minutes.
P.P.S. still waiting on a day we can salvage all USELESS ascended rings got over 75 rings in my bank
The more useless rings you get the more chance you buy extra bank space, the more chance Anet makes some cash from the gemstore. So that’ll probably not be happening anytime soon.
Now there will be more zerker only LFGs because those zerker groups that previously had enough DPS to bring a non-zerker with them now won’t be able to.
Not true. There was never “enough” DPS. It’s not like groups said “hey we got 3 zerks now we can take any random geared person”. It won’t be any different than before. Or if it is, those people are idiots and not thinking logically.
Given how many dodges you have and your skill cooldowns, there is a point at which you have enough DPS to melt the boss before you run out of dodges or mitigation skills. Once you hit that DPS point, you know you can finish the run smoothly and can take anyone you wish for the rest of the party.
Downscaling and upscaling have both been poorly done. I don’t believe Anet can properly do either. It’s best just to make all zones level 80 (with exception of starter zones, maybe) —it’d make Anet’s job easier.
My guess is that there were bots doing the same boss #1 over and over in some dungeon and our nerf is just a side effect of dealing with the bots.
We ask for trait/skill unlocks like in GW1 and we get the same five events for all the 40 different traits. Hilarious!
Just tried to map into Plains of Ashford. LOL! Pretty much every WP is contested.
So:
- Which map has the most contested WPs (looking from outside the map)?
- Which map has the most percentage of contested WPs?
The very last thing we need is more stacking into the upper tiers. But I guess it’s ok as long as the OP gets his gathering bonus, right?
In short, worst post ever.
Sense of community is gone, people are constantly yelling at each other in map chat because of WvW stuff
Wow… this is interesting, in a negative way. I’m sure trolls will now start inciting players who are on different sides of a matchup pretty soon (or maybe already?). I can see it getting pretty bad because it’s so easy to troll in this way: “so, what does everyone think about server XXX?”
People just didn’t do the math yet.
Sure, you are still able to run in circles in Queensdale.
The point is, it is not really worth it.
An event yields some 80 copper, a champ bag doesn’t yield much either.
In Queensdale, you mainly get white champ bags, some greens, hardly any exo bags.
Queensdale was only worth it because of the obscene amount of gold generated by bags and events. Now, if these sources of money are only slightly decreased(and the spider falls out of the window), you are essentially paying a way point to get your money back, pay the next waypoint to get your money back and pay the next waypoint to get your money back.
All you get are some green items, some mats, some bloodstone dust, some xp and some karma. You never get much net money out of it, cause the waypoint costs remain the same.
Frostgorge, on the other hand, got the events reinstalled. You’d need to do some reshuffling of the train order, but you now get some xp, karma and money from the associated events.
In my book, that speaks in favor of FGS, you just gotta figure out a new order.
A lot of people used Queensdale to help level — as a nice casual run that’s fun for a couple or three or fou rounds.
I feel you. I’d like that as well. Ascended gear takes a lot of gold and time to make. Ascended gear itself was already part of the devs going back on their word and adding a whole extra tier of rarity. Making one set was bad enough, but now making a whole new set? Too much grindy-ness >.<
I pity the people who had 4 or 5 characters decked out in ascended gear who now feel that their gear is useless.
Yep. Anet really screwed up with the Ascended gear. Now whenever someone’s gear becomes obsolete, whether due to nerfs or new traits or new skills, they’re going to be unhappy about having to regrind gear. The funny thing is that new traits/skills are needed to keep the game fresh.
So Anet can’t win. But of course, they did it to themselves.
