So no more deleting characters on a whim, or to try out new ones (assuming new traits are characterbound)? Sounds like a ploy to get PvP players to buy more character slots.
I’m assuming they are saving it for the Featured content starting in april, account bound is mid way down the list so I’m assuming thats our Wxp which means not until after season 2.
Some of the featured updates look interesting, but many of them should have already been implemented. I’m thinking its going to be a case of to little to late for Anet.
Didn’t they already imply that there would be no account bound WXP until after the season when they said that we wouldn’t get another WXP reset after the one a couple days ago?
So these are unlocked per character or per account? Huge difference. (Pretty bad either way.)
Braham’s girlfriend left him for some merchant or something during the aftermath of Flame and Frost. You had to go back to Cragstead afterwards and you’d find Braham there sulking.
But wasn’t there some intrigue or mystery having to do with Braham’s girlfriend? I seem to recall the people we saved in the Flame and Frost dungeon said some things about her that implied some mystery. That was never addressed again?
You’re wasting your time reporting people.
Anet never does anything about it (yes, even if multiple people report multiple times, on multiple occasions).
It’s like elevator close-door buttons (in the US, at least) .. they’re there just to make you feel like you’re in control, but they actually do nothing.
Bind your mousewheel to click and all you have to do is roll the wheel. I believe this is allowed.
Do we know?
Because doing it in two updates instead of one allows Anet to better hype how many updates PvP gets. It’s just for marketing and likely tricks a lot of people into buying the game.
They likely do it they way they do so that they can advertise:
“We’ve had XX number of PvP updates this year!”
…where March 18 counts as one of the XX. When they add rewards in a few months, that will count as another.
By now, we all know Anet is 98% hype and advertising and 2% actual content, but this fools potential new customers into buying the game.
I really got my hopes up when i read those news. But now i don’t even think i should wait for it to happen…
That was the point. And judging from the forums, there’s always a bunch of people who enjoy being strung along for months and months.
I think the more interesting question is why he gives Ascalonian Tears from his bag of wondrous goods drop.
Seriously? That’s embarrassing.
If they give the option for each player to ban a map, then it’d be obvious which map(s) are the problem ones. But they won’t do this because they LOVE skyhammer and their ego won’t let them accept that it’s a terrible map.
The first thing that should be done is that the party chat should not be erased when u get kicked, so the report of the abuse can be done easily
As if reporting does anything. The Arah party merge griefer is still around after how many reports?
CDI – merge party button
It’s the wrong focus for the format. I’d rather see a.net working on some of the fundamental problems about WvW, such as the coverage issue or the lack of new content. At least we’re supposedly getting some new WvW-specific items in connection with Season II, so that’s something, but not enough to really impress me.
That’s the point. Seasons gives the illusion of content but yet can be implemented with near zero effort. Addressing fundamental issues would require effort on Anet’s part.
It’s a very short-term way of working and will kill WvW in the long run, but it doesn’t appear as if Anet cares all that much.
Always the same. “Just you wait! Big announcements coming soon! This Friday!” And then disappointment.
More action, less PR hype is what we need.
bind your mouse wheel to click.. that’ll save you a lot of clicking pain.
The Epilogue Better Be Grand *Spoilers*
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Wasn’t sitting by a karma bonfire the centerpiece of one of the past epilogues? It’s unlikely to be grand.
Free transfers to a limited number of servers will begin tomorrow (Mar 18) so don’t transfer yet — you can save yourself a lot of gems.
NSP has daily temple zergs starting 5:00pm pacific time (including Arah and Karka Queen)
Considering how long the merge feature has been in the game, is it possible that Anet intends for people to wipe others’ progress as a gameplay feature?
Likely Anet’s cutting down on servers since WvW is dying.
Just make it so that only the instance owner can kick. That’d solve a bunch of problems.
If PvEers (mystic forgers gambling for a legendary) haven’t gotten this after repeatedly asking, what chance is there for WvW players?
Nothing is intimidating about the NPC in WvW. They should be fearsome like any other player group would be.
I think this is actually the key to the server population imbalance problem. Give the lower population server stronger NPCs to fight for and with them based on the map or overall WvW populations. I know people play WvW to fight other players and I agree with that, but when server populations are significantly imbalanced, that’s not really what you get unless you are looking for an easy win. A lot of it is PvDoor, which is basically PvE against NPCs that are pretty easy to defeat. PvDoor could actually be a bit of a challenge if the NPCs inside were stronger and used unmanned siege weapons placed in the site.
Bad band-aid fix to a gaping wound of a problem that is population imbalance.
And in any case, would it really be more fun to PvD just as before, except the keep lord is a tough NPC? That’s just PvE. Why not just go PvE for real for more rewards? We want more PvP and less PvE in our WvW.
Oh, and dont forget how shortly after fractured, they announced that PVP was losing Glory rewards and WvW was losing rankings and those people went completely nuts about losing “hard earned rewards or rankings” and several of us posted on their forums pointing out that “this is the slippery slope we were talking about with Fractal levels being taken”…only to have our posts deleted by moderators for being “off topic”.
sPvP is losing glory and ranks, not WvW.
In any case, I’ve seen a couple posts about how Anet treats PvP/WvW much better than the fractal/dungeon community. Not true. Anet treats dungeon/fractal runners, sPvPers, WvWers all equally badly (just look at their sub-forums). And communication is a serious issue with all three communities.
Anet has moved on but, in order to string us along, won’t explicitly tell us we’re broken up. They’re dating the LS community now and there’s no getting back together. Dungeon runners, sPvPers, and WvWers really should just move on as well. (Saying this as a dungeon and WvW player.)
Polite PSA to Anet RE: server population

Wasn’t scaling of mobs/bosses to the number of people present supposed to be one of GW2’s big features? So much for that.
Is it possible to melee solo her without running away to recuperate? I believe i can be done for warrior and thief — what about other professions?
This is a really tedious fight solo.
At this point I have no tolerance for any death pre-Lupi in an Arah p2 solo. I’d rather just Esc > char select > pick an alt & log in/out to restart instance than watch my character die in downed state.
I would love a way to reset a dungeon without having to switch to an alt that’s near a dungeon.
It doesn’t help that the devs don’t seem to listen at all to our concerns. What happened to Josh Davis anyway?
Does anyone even run TA aether regularly? I’d be curious to know the numbers as to whether whether TA F/U was more popular or TA aether .. especially since the excuse to wipe TA F/U was that it was unpopular.
I believe what happens is that there’s a gap in time between when Belka decides to fire the ball of death and when she actually fires it.
- The red circle is determined by your position and motion when she decides to fire.
- The actual trajectory of the projectile is determined by your position when she actually fires.
If your motion changed between this gap in time, then the red circle shows the wrong trajectory.
So if no one had created this thread, we would never have known not to delete them until the announcement. Indeed, it appears this thread was too late for many people.
Black Lion Keys are 125 gems, or $1.56.
If you can farm 3 keys in an hour, that means you are paying yourself $4.68 per hour. Had you instead worked an hour of overtime at a minimum wage job you would have earned $10.88 for your hour and could have purchased those 3 keys with the same amount of time spent (1 hour) and had $6.20 left over to do anything you wanted with.
If people want to farm the keys, it’s really their loss.
Following this terrible argument, you may as well get a minimum wage job and buy all your legendary weapons on payday, then quit the game.
0 transfer cost is a REAL opportunity for lower tier servers to attract guilds/players if they are pro-active and revitalise there WvW.
One big guild transfer to a T7 server could easily see that server dominate Bronze league. Since the rewards for winning bronze are the same as gold, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a guild make the hop.
They’ll have to contend with the silver leaguer that tanks the hardest.
So more tanking on purpose to get into a lower tier. Yay.
Watch his right hand, he moves it (I believe drops it a bit) right before kicking.
I love Kas and Jory, but they’re not exactly breaking the mold. I think conventionally attractive women in a lesbian relationship is a lot easier for most people to accept. However, what I personally would love to see is a gay male relationship in the spotlight, where neither party is a stereotype, i.e. where neither of them is expected to play ‘the woman.’ or act flamboyantly. I’d also ideally like them to be human, because I find that other species don’t really ‘count’ to the average person.
Good job Anet on inclusion so far, just another hopeful suggestion from a queer player who is desperate to see gay men in an actual romance, as opposed to portrayed negatively or in a way that’s oriented around sex.
I think you’re mistaking Anet pandering towards its audience for them trying to go for more inclusion.
They’re doing the lesbian thing because they know a large percentage of their customers are young males — and a large percentage of them like to see exactly that.
You can do it. Oh, wait. That was GW1.
GW1’s interface was practically 100% customizable. Why is GW2’s interface practically 0% customizable? In a sequel, shouldn’t the good features be kept and the bad removed?
What about this kind of “private” dps meter?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_a7SkN6kULI
looks cool. I remember a while back someone created a rough DPS meter but many people were afraid to use it because they were afraid of being accused of botting (or something similar).
It’s great that people are writing their own DPS meters, but the fact is that Anet/gw2 by default has access to all damage information and thus Anet can write a DPS meter with little work. It’s sad that they’ll likely never do it.
Let’s not derail this by talking about public DPS meters… Anet will never ever even consider doing a public DPS meter.
A private DPS meter, however, has far less potential for controversy — that together with the fact that (aside from the UI), the code should be easy, means there’s a bigger than zero chance that this could be implemented.
I don’t have an opinion on this, but I find it funny anyone would be embarrassed by their DPS. It’s not like you personally are causing the DPS, as though if it were low you would be a scrawny little nerd.
LOL true. In any case, the private/no chat linking is more to prevent other party members from demanding to see your DPS — there’d be enough rage resulting from that to make this an instant no-go. But just keeping it private, for your own personal use, sounds reasonable to me.
The instant trait reset item in the gemstore resets your trait out of combat (note: doesn’t work in sPvP).
This item provides convenience, but has added bonuses:
- You can use this to reset traits in the middle of a dungeon (or any instance) where exiting the dungeon to retrait will lose your progress: For example, in Arah path 2, you can use this to retrait before fighting the Abomination, but after having run the spider cave (right after Belka). If exit the dungeon to retrait, you must redo the spider cave — progress has been lost.
- You can use in WvW this to reset traits and respec while in the middle of the map, without having to change your position. This is impossible without waypointing and thus losing your position if you do not have the item. This is advantageous when you’re defending a tower and can’t afford to WP away (as you’d have to run all the way back).
- Open world PvE: this item is purely a convenience item — no problems here.
At this point, my expectations are so low, I’d be satisfied if they fixed the small font issue on the TP main trading page.
By the way, anyone else notice that the font used in the search boxes on different TP pages (main trading page, sell your stuff page) are different? Why?
Title says it all. The “private” is so that people won’t have be embarrassed about their low DPS: only you see it, and it can’t be linked in chat.
I’d like to know in a real world situation if my build/rotation for this or that fight is better or worse than my other build/rotation — this would be a nice QoL feature for that purpose.
I’m curious. How long do your runs take? I’d be very curious to see a video — just to see a different way that people run dungeons.
LOL always the white knights with their “subject to change.”
Practically nothing from that preview was accomplished.
And I’m pretty sure they rushed out the new healing skills just so they could say new skills were introduced — that’s why they’re all terrible: because if you’re going to rush out skills, you better make them bad lest they unbalance everything (even more).
Most of the Top players , are doing pve until spvp big patch on 18th
lol true story
This.
Grinding ascended gear while waiting for pvp patch.
You may have more time than you think because the 18th is a maintenance patch (whatever that means).
Glory boosters will be removed, yet they’re still dropping in game. I got one from a black lion chest 10 days ago.
As for the whole PvP glory removal, see: fractal rank reset — people were really upset but nothing was done in the end (and the promised leaderboard never even appeared).
Slightly off topic, but I haven’t contributed to the EoTM CDI for good reason. There is plenty that I don’t like about that map too, so I just don’t play there.
Anet’s after-release map design has been pretty bad (IMO of course). They’re all way too busy and sPvP-like and have too many gimmicks. I think most WvW players like the rolling open fields rather than all the nooks and crannies that people losing fights can run and hide in.
As for people being selfish and not capping the points because there’s no reward… there are plenty of people who do stuff for no rewards (like scouts, siege builders, tower defenders) and capping the points only takes a few minutes anyway.
People can easily do it quickly as they run from garri towards any of the south camps/towers. They choose not to because the whole area sucks.
