Don’t know what you are talking about. GS was a good option since release. Of course not for all content. In dungeons it sucks because most of the time you don’t range enemies there.

The game has all the options to create interesting encounter. Now, after trying to teach players some of them, try to teach the AI some of them.
Boon management, condition management, stunbreaks and positioning. Teach the AI to react to player input. We have seen a start of it with ressing downed. Nothing since then, expand it!

Most conditionbuilds have burst-like skills too. Cleanse after they used them and you should be fine.

I’ve been standing in Gendarren Fields for 2 hours without moving and didnt die to conditions – clearly this food is not a problem. On a serious note the food is OP by itself, but its simply ridiculously OP if compared to OTHER FOOD. Its almost like built-in perma-weakness to a power build. People stacking it with melandru & traits are IMMUNE to soft CC.. i mean wtf… just because im not condi based doesnt mean i dont need my cripples and immobilize to work..

Uhm you do realize I’m for a change?

Edit: Instead of +/-40% on all conditions they should do it related to fixed conditions just like on the runes of the centaur. (-50% against cripple) (not 50% just because of food…)

@BlackDevil: First of all, in PvE a Necromancer can outrun a Mesmer. Warhorn, 25% Signet, Spectral Walk, done.

Now to discuss the signets, they need to be reworked.
Signet of Domination: In my eyes lacks a synergy in itself. Is the passiv any good if you’re interested in the active use?
Signet of Illusions: The active is just bad, on this cd certainly and on a lower one perhaps still. A shatter mesmer will most likely take the traited reset and the cds aren’t that long if you’re into illusions anyway .. Even if the activ wasn’t that bad the passiv doesn’t synergize with it (again). Yeah my Illusions have a slightly longer life on the way to their death..
Signet of Inspiration: Has a strong active especially in combination with the steal. The passiv is RNG and I hate that. Please change something with this RNG and add a all time buff. Signets give 180 to attributes and this one doesn’t, it gives a boon with its pros and cons..
Signet of Midnight: No synergy (third time, BINGO!). My idea for a little change would be to make it a counter stealth skill. Add a revealed effect to everyone affected by the blind.

Even if these get buffed, there doesn’t seem to be a concept behind them. Traited they give distortion and condition cleanse? Why? That’s like taking ketchup only because that’s the way to get more french fries.

ANet talks about GS. What about staff?

Perhaps exchange Chaos Armor with another small field that buffs protection+aegis and can be comboed to give the Chaos Armor effect.
It would give a good option for support mesmer to have a real support skill without RNG.

And shorten the CD of chaos storm please… they could even shorten the storm by one tick or something. Don’t let me only #1 all the time…

Both foods gone completely. Reduce and increase condis from traits and abilities, not from cheesey food.

I don’t think there is cheese in this particular food.

On a more serious note, this game needs -condition duration more then +. Thus, nerfing both equally will only favor the condition user, which, definitely in this WvW meta, is bad. Any class can easily still get +30% condition duration increase via traitlines, and often high increases in duration for single conditions.

I don’t know where this is coming from. I see it on the forum from time to time but I don’t see any of it ingame. Playing in Gold league with no conditionremoval aside from runes that give -20% and at this point I haven’t died to conditions in a looong time. If anything condi-users need a buff in large scale wvw.

Reducing both those foods to 10% would be really good. Please do.

Skill interrupting jumppads that have a silly CD on them.
Breakable plattforms everywhere.
Unblock-/dodgeable high damage & stun wide area denying kitten. Yeah, kitten! All those kitten!
And players that just log to trollchars to spam knockback, fear, … without thinking.

Just too much annoying stuff.

So far what I’ve seen:

  • 1 big buff (Krait – Maybe I’d use this on a condi thief?)
  • 3 major nerfs (Lyssa, Perplexity, any Boon duration runes)
  • A few minor buffs I like (Pack, Hoelbrak, Dolyak based on Level and HPower now)
  • 90% “meh” changes that don’t affect anything.
  • And some runes that seem to have been missed entirely (Antitoxin?)

Lyssa is pretty trash now, since the 6-piece will no longer reliably give you the boons you want (Stability is now impossible to get, because you would have to convert fear to get it…but no class can use their elite while under the effects of Fear…). And Perplexity is trash because I mainly use it on builds where I never want to get hit…I guess luckily I never used the boon duration setup pre-patch, so I can’t cry about that one (although I know how bad it hurt a lot of players).

In summary – I have no new toys, and a couple of my old toys were taken away.

Also, In SPVP we are still missing runes and sigils. No rune of Antitoxin, and no Sigil of Torment to name a few.

I don’t mind the nerfs. I will miss lyssa, especially since there is no rune actually helping with stability now(hint). Not sure if there is a use to lyssa now.

All those general condi-runes are still all the same. Often the only difference is the 6. bonus. Want deathnova on downstate, or condis on elite use or fear someone that attacks you or fear longer or convert some attribute into another? Scrap some of them. There are still too many boring condi runes.

Make dungeon runes accountbound… create more creative (like resistance or perplexity) and specialized (like torment or centaur) runes and not only power and conditiondamage.

Try to go for the dungeon armor or try to avoid expensive runes. WvW and temple armors aren’t salvagable.

Is there a mantra build that uses the mantras that are equiped? As far as I know that’s rarely the case and if you equip more than one mantra it is for the passiv damage boost most of the time. What’s needed is a system where mantras don’t add the full charge time when you play with more than one. Like some have suggested if you charge a mantra the next one will take a shorter charge time.

My suggestion would be to make harmonious mantras the trait to implement something like that because, right now it isn’t that harmonious. It does buff single mantras but adds no synergie between different mantras and it actually hurts some of them to be balanced around the option to be used 3 times in a row. MoPain and MoConcentration in particular are rather weak on their own.

Something like that would support the active play with mantras instead of the passiv boost play.

My opinion regarding mantras and what’s wrong with mantra builds.

Bring something to remove conditions. Don’t try to pressure the mesmer, that’s what he wants and if you don’t do it, he will lose his pressure on you. Confusion from mesmers is weak compared to other classes because it only has a very short duration.

Edit: Really, the only difference to a condi necro or engi is the weaker application of conditions and stealth. This means a mesmer will take longer to kill you (and because of the huge confusion part will rely on you to do the damagepart) but will have other escape options. The only reason mesmer is the favorite roamer of them is the easy escape.

I thought about a change on DE before and i agree that it should become a adept tier. It should be basic, because it is a basic for shatter mesmer. Move swordtraining to master to bring it in line with other weapon traits, I haven’t seen any build going 10 in this line only to take the training and i expect this would actually change nothing but bring diversed shatterbuilds that are viable.

Another way would be to get more shatter traits that are not grand master or make some other weak traits interesting so we can have shatterhybrids with a different skillset (signets, manipulation (not just blink))

Our signets are strange. Take the signet of illusions for the passiv healthbuff and you rarely if ever use the activ.
The only signet with its own synergy seems to be the signet of inspiration.

Some people try to make sure all three holos in the boss fight die at the same time. I’m really wondering why we should do that. From all I experienced it has no advantage. You can safe perhaps one minute that is already wasted through telling the people what to do. And if it goes wrong it can go horrible wrong because than you have to fight 18 elite adds that actual need coordination to kill.

Killing one holo and killing its adds right after isn’t hard and doesn’t take long. So why would you split?

I only used these in PvE. They aren’t that bad when they are on the field against some enemies.
I guess with a reduced casttime they would become an option in pvp too.

Traits that buff a specific attribute of the pet.

Goal of Proposal
Pets already have strenghts and weaknesses but they stay that way and we can’t influence it in any way other than switching pets. This would give pets more depth since we could make pets into really heavy hitters or become good allrounder. Heavy damage pets could get some more defense and so on..

Proposal Functionality
Create traits that either buff a pets attribute (condi damage/attack/…) by a certain amount or connect this attribute to the rangers. I don’t know how often the existing pettraits (bleeding on crit for cats and all that) are used, but I don’t like any of them because they only help certain pets that don’t mix well and taking more than one is a waste so I would change them with the attribute ones. Doing that only minor or master would give the option to take 2 or 3 of these.

Associated Risks
Going for all damage or taking 3 statbuff traits could make the pet completly op.

Edit: Please delete all the posts that say “Remove the pet from the pet class”. One post would be enough.

Wellmancer, MMBunker, Condimancer and some Fearbuilds seem to work. They are always welcome in wvw and s/tpvp.
When I tried it in wvw or openworld pve it was the lootgod.
It’s a little boring, but is that the problem?

If they give Mesmers cards for a weapon I’m going to be upset with all of you. That’s simply inane, let’s just give the Ranger a friggin’ birdcage while we’re at it.

I don’t have any idea’s, but cards is a bad one… so are fans. Seriously people. If someone in WvW came chargin’ at me with Fans or a Deck of Cards… no. Just no.

#Edit: Also, addings Fans or Cards into the game would be odd unless it was Mesmer specific. W-t-frick is a Warrior or Elementalist going to do with a Fan or ace of spades? Fold? Ha… anyway. No; again.

Fans would also work well with thiefs (hidden throwing knives), guards (healing wind focus style) and possible ele. A greataxe for example wouldn’t really work for more classes (warrior, perhaps guard and ranger).

Are we listing classes that need Balancing or Development Time?

Because I think the number tweaks between classes are largely okay. But there are definitely certain classes that have clunkier gameplay, lackluster utility choices, awkward traitlines, buggy or buggy-seeming performance, etc.

in this case, i think people voting ele should think about their vote. eles dont need much dev time to revamp the profession and its mechanics. eles require more balancing.

If it just needs balancing that is ok too. Anything we do is dev time.

Basically, I want people to think ‘what class would I never play right now because it’s just not viable’ and list the top 3. That goes for all game types.

Apart from ranger (and even there some things work) no class is in a horrible spot.

To all of you talking about better positioning, some of the bridges & isles are very narrow, not to mention many professions have Interrupts that Pull your foe – so that makes it harder to gain a position.

Do not fight there. That’s the positioning they are talking about.
The only areas that are dangerous are the bridges in the lower middle of the map. Everywhere else you can get to safety.

I just tried mantras for a few matches in spvp again.

Resolve and concentration aren’t that bad on their own.
MoR is my favorite condi cleanse since december, it’s good even without traits. It could use a buff to its range to be better support.
MoC is ok. It isn’t as good as MoR but that’s probably because we already have many other good stunbreaks.

Pain and distraction are not that good. It’s ok in 1v1 but there are other options and they don’t mix that well.
MoP is in my oppinion a very weak skill. I guess that’s justified because it becomes better when you use all these traits, but than again you have to take those traits. And it needs aoe effect to be useful outside of 1v1.
MoD is a great skill if you’re going for lockdown. 2 instant stuns are strong! But it seems to be stronger to take on interupt trait with it.

I guess my problem with mantras is rooted in the traits.
Harmonious mantras is kinda meh.. it helps if you take one mantra but it doesn’t allow to build around mantras. It would help me more if it would reduce the casttime, perhaps based on the number of mantras you have equipped.
For example:
HM with one mantra equipped reduces the casttime by 10%
HM with two mantras equipped reduces the casttime by 15%
and so on
That would make a build based around mantras faster with less wasted time and allowed weaker mantras to become stronger on their own.

Mantra mastery and protected mantras could be combined. Anyone using protected mantras? I guess it’s something you take when building for mantras but I wouldn’t.
Empowering mantras is okay. And restorative mantras is a good support trait.

The english feels weak in this post. :/

The main reason you see so many mesmers now is that PU is fotm for roaming. Probably all those ex-permastealth thiefs.

Play a class that has these cc-skills and try to play it. Soon you will realize you can’t use these skill everywhere. Switch back to your class and don’t walk where you can be cced to death easily.
Stability isn’t necessary. But it helps.

As always knowledge is the key.

Could EotM actually end up damaging WvW?

Nobody cares if you win a eotm-match, matches don’t remain stale for a week, towers are able to stand on their own for a while when they have supply, defensiv siege is being built by npcs, many places where you can easily reduce the numbers of enemy zergs.

All this seems to be superior to the old wvw.
What’s missing is the community but that’s also happening by transfering and what’s to say against a gamewide community?
