PU mesmer is OP. You guys have little to worry about compared to rangers
Rangers are OP.
Easy to prove:
- Rangers have spirits. Mesmers don’t.
- Rangers have a 10s water field for AE healing in boss fights / zerg fights. Mesmers don’t.
- Rangers have a bear. Mesmer’s don’t.
How you can say that Rangers are weaker than Mesmers is beyond me.
(Hint: Class envy gets you nowhere if you want to talk balance, class design does)
- Mesmers have 10x more damage then Rangers.
- Mesmers wreck rangers at duels in both WvW and SPvP.
- Mesmers can remove boons rangers can’t.
- Mesmers have been the King of 1v1 from day dot and still are ranger have been at the bottom.
(Hint: Class stupidity gets you nowhere so don’t talk about balance when your clueless.)
Strange, I have no problem winning against mesmer in spvp on my ranger. Right now I prefer to play ranger in spvp over mesmer.
Well, we got some buffs too. Now i sometimes equip a mantra for example.
Mesmer still lacks many things. Weak condi removal, bad out of combat movement very few options getting boons, aside from a still useless mantra no utility that deals damage.
The PU change created a cheap trick that’s too easy to play and too effectiv against inexperienced player while others will just ignore most PU users.
You realize there is a big rune rework coming soon?
These runes are just as strong as soldier, scholar, melandru and others. Probably weaker because most important part of them is the 6er effect.

Yeah, certainly on block! The defender used something to block the hit and realizes where the attacker is.
On miss only if it was triggered by the defender and i don’t think that would be easy to distinguish.
Sounds like someone sits on a stack of precursors.
If not, well there are others that do.
Precursor prices are manipulated, so there should be a way to not support these guys.

Why don’t you make a CDI subforum whenever one is going on. Like the LS subforums.

Ranger can choose pets that do something else than the ranger. A complete condi build + a power pet working good together. That wouldn’t work if the stats weren’t seperated. Another example is the standard ranger, taking a heavy bear and building zerker bow.
Going beastmaster will buff the stats of the pet just fine. Only problem could be the traits in the line, i don’t like the pet specific stuff.
I’m fine with giving mesmers better group support, but it needs to come at the expense of nerfing their 1v1 abilities.
Sounds good. I propose removing Moa Morph. As it’s frequently whined about but in the end already entirely useless, that quells whining while also not really affecting us.

I’d like to see buffs to manipulation and signet related traits. For example a notrng(!) boons when using manipulations.

It’s a little off but the destroyer of bones resembles ettins. I always thought Ettins aren’t exactly ..balanced. The extended arm on the destroyer could be creative freedom.
Perhaps the destroyer of Sinew could be something else. Like a copy of an ancient lizardfolk.

There is no reason to go to most low and mid level maps after you finished them once.
Anet seems to be trying to change that. They changed kessex, added events and special mechanics to it. Now, at least on my server there are many people all the time. Not “queensdale many” but enough to enjoy the map with all events.

To add something, I think the whole building around clones being destroyed wasn’t intended by the devs.

The only problem right now is, everyone is trying it. It isn’t designed for mindless zergs. It’s like other worldbosses in other games. Only these are available after reaching a certain level. But because wurm is only added to already available content, everyone will just rush to it right after release.
This content will stay so it can be hard. The marionet is easier because it is limited.
Lol, you lose your veilbots because it’s not fun. Roaming can still be fun and is very strong but if that’s not your thing you don’t log to mesmer that often anymore.
Like in all events, in your right up corner is a simple describtion how to do it. Learn to read. If there are 2 or 3 options left you could do what’s written there try one, if it doesn’t work try something else.
This goes for mobs too. If you read the short tips standing under its name you can probalby figure out what to do.
I guess we have to check every rune when it’s time. I really hope some get a complet makeover to something special. Another interupt triggered runeeffect for powerbuilds would be fun.
Mesmer needs teamplay buffs!
I abaddoned most of my mesmer play because everyone only wants veil, portal and nullfield and i hate it. At last i only took veil into my raid build. Yes these skills are strong, but they aren’t exactly fun to use. They don’t kill anything, most of the time they don’t help us survive, they don’t help us getting to our group as fast as others.
I posted this suggestion in the deceptive evasion change thread. Would it be a working buff? Would it be overpowered?

We need buffs other than the PU nonesense.
Protection is a rare boon to most classes and war already has a weaker version of it because of its armor class.

I like the invasions but they aren’t perfect. Mainly because they don’t tie into the maps that much.
As it sounds, the worm could end up being an invasion mixed with tequatl. That would be interesting.
This skill could use some tweaks. It’s a high risk, high reward skill but not completely balanced right now. Still, i like the skill.
My biggest concern with it is the cast time. You will want to wait to maximise the skill effect but at the same time you are already risking not being able to use the skill at all. That’s an important difference to most other healing skills and even after casting it there is still the risk not getting enough of a beating to trigger the max heal. With a shorter cast time you reduce the risk to not being able to use the skill at all.
Another way would be to buff the base healing or add another threshold where the heal already gets slightly stronger.
I use the skill mostly in pve when i know my group doesn’t need the turrets support, so i can use the toolbeltskill for another damaging ability. But static shock could use a buff in its range, there are stronger stuns that hit more targets with a better range. Just a little more range would be nice.
Also in pve it’s easier to controll the damage you get and know what conditions you will have to deal with.

On mesmer stealth isn’t connected to damage increase.
Perhaps they should remove some upgrades completely. It’s a pain to try and defend a paper anything. Make everything take over with stone walls and upgraded gate and not able to upgrade further.
These upgrades are necessary but boring. The walls upgrade is in most cases not worth anything until the gate is upgraded too.
After a rework of them I would also add waypoints to the list, but not in the state they are right now.

The wvw community is extremly self-destructive. The threads are only one example of it. Another is the focus on blobbing to even larger numbers just because it’s easy and works for the points. Even guilds have grown to larger numbers, just to stay competetiv. And if a server isn’t strong for 24h a day, it sucks. People talk bs about that it’s dead and so on.
And you don’t even get that much glory. That must be horrible.
I want people to actually start killing each other and not focus on surviving.

I was concerned about ascended gear when you first introduced the rings. I think you implemented it well. I don’t feel the need to get every slot ascended. The options for juwellery are great now. Some other options for armor and weapons would be welcome.
For the future i would like to point out the progression used with the fractal, karka and 2012 halloween backpieces. These things are awesome and we need more of it.
The Halloween books were enjoyable content. It felt rewarding even when the stats on the items weren’t that good, only masterwork. I really wished for it to continue this year because the content was fun and the book was special because of it. It’s still the skin I use on my main character.
The karka backpiece was only an stats upgrade and perhaps too fast/cheap to obtain. It a good idea I’d like to see more too. You used it on this one celestial amulett too, there it was very cheap but in that case it’s fine because the triforge pendant itself is crazy. If you could make the upgrade harder to achieve it would be a nice, different way to upgrade special exotics to ascended items. Dungeon armor/weapon possibly.
After these two I have to talk about the possibly best thing you have in the game right now when it comes to progression. It combines both of the above progressions, the fractal capacitor. I don’t play the fractals often, it’s just not my thing. But the backpiece is the main reason for me to at least once in a while go into the fractals and a longterm goal of mine is to get the fully upgraded version, which I don’t even need because I’m not doing fractals that often!
Other good progression systems you have in place right now are the pvp achievements. Unlike the wvw achievements you get them once in a while and they make me try different classes.
Also the wxp-system seems to be fine as well. I’m now waiting to see if you add new tiers to the siegetraits and perhaps balance some of the abilities so you have to really get deep into a siegetrait to max the siege effect. Right now some traits are very early and powerful.
What’s missing right now seems to be some kind of openworld or general pve progression. Something like the sunspear or kurzick title in GW1. Let’s use karma or do things for influence with the koda, grawl, dredge or refugees so they recognise me as a friend of specifically them.

But the hot join matches (8vs8) are horrible. It’s like a completly different game.
And the arenas need these player, kind of. It was a pain to wait like 15minutes before you got in a match and some of these players will probably go after they realized that spvp isn’t their thing. Others will get better.
Matchmaking is more the problem here, but it was reseted not long ago. So perhaps it will work out?
Please list “where” you need ascended items to progress in the game?
Yer it’s a lot and takes quite a lot of time to make.. but as their not required for anything atm, there is no rush to get them
If you don’t NEED it, why does it exist?
Because some people think an mmo without grind is no fun. Ascended is for these people.
If you love your alts, just don’t aim at ascended.

The tower in kessex is pretty good. Not exactly dark but kinda creepy.
I also think mmos can’t be scary. I haven’t been scared by any mmo ever. The secret world was trying to be a horror mmo and for me it just didn’t feel right. It would have been a much better single player game.
I agree about the Lornar’s Pass thing. That’s really nice.

That alone is reason enough to expect no levelcap increase in the 0-80 style, because it would be useless right away.
I didn’t think the mantra removed that many? and when cast you only have two shots with it until requiring a re-cast of the thing (unless traited)
Untraited the mantra removes 2 × 2 conditions on a 20s cd. The field removes 5 (or 6?) on a 40s cd.
The mantra casts 2,75s but you can move while you’re doing it and it can be cast before meeting an enemy. The field is limited to the targeted area where you have to stay in.
You can split the 2 uses of the mantra while you can’t do that with the field but the enemy sees it.
Mantra can remove 4 condis in ~1s, field needs a little longer but does more.

Nullfield so useless compared to resolve mantra? I’ve found nullfield invaluable in PVP, especially against bunker char’s. Guardian for example with his “Thou shalt not move me” with all his boons, nullfield down, threat eliminated.
For stripping boons you’re right, of course. There are other ways, too.
But for condition removal the mantra is superior.
I like both phantasms. Defender in general and disenchanter in some special cases.
Mantra of concentration isn’t bad too. 2 (3) stunbreaks and stability in one? That’s nice.
I’m a fan of these.
I like the precision. The random boon is well random. And the use of the elite can flip the outcome of a fight. It works great with timewarp!
PU is probably the least effort/highest return playstyle the Mesmer has right now, I wouldn’t mind at all if it got nerfed and I finally saw a Mesmer who’s not running it for a change.
The less stealth cheese in the game the better.

Dolyaks are the most important thing in wvw. They don’t even need to sleep. They are always on the battlefields.
Should be a “Blob” finisher imo.
Nice idea! Like when you finish someone there will be at least 5 ghost guys doing the stomping animation next to you! Or like the normal Dolyak finisher when the small ones are running in one direction but it instead it will be 20 players. That would look funny.
Keep the ranks & finishers around, they already are one longtime goal.
I’m not specially working towards a rank/finisher but i’d like to still be able to obtain them in the future.
I wouldn’t mind them being split from everything else and hidden in a spvp tab, only to showing up like a achievement when you level it up.
These finishers are really something that feels rewarding, unlike the old wvw achievements. (hint)
