Hi, I am currently looking for a team that is considering a thief. I’ve never been on any top tier teams but I am a very good thief and my field awareness and strategical map positioning set me apart from most thieves of my technical abilities.
I know I am not at the technical finesse of Cruuk, Caed or Jumper but I am very good and other top tier players can vouch for this.
- r50 thief
-2,000 tournaments played on D/P thief alone
-Best tPvP rank: 171
-Best Solo Q rank: 87
-VC capabilities: TS3, Mumble, Skype, Vent (I have a mix and a vent server if the team needs one)
For the past 4 months my Internet has been terrible (which is why I have waited so long to look for a team) and I still managed to go from rank 450 to 87 last week in Solo Q.
I am moving on September 7th and will have Extremely FAST Internet that day so I will play much better than I currently am (.75sec lag is making me screw up all my head shots on their heals).
I am looking for a team that needs a thief and has NO other thieves. Preferably players in the current top 1,000 on either leader board
Any questions post or message me. Also my ign is most easily reached at: Lux Fortuna.
Aphrodite has weird euro letters I can’t type on my iPhone.
Also, anyone who has played with me can leave honest feedback since I am not a pro or extremely well known like Cruuk, Caed, Jumper, and Reikou.
Players have invested a lot of time, money and emotions into this game, as such I see it perfectly fine for them to voice their concerns with the state if the game and future changes even if they come off as whiney
I am really hoping for 9 more Queen Jennah’s so each of my characters can have 2 !
Funny how the one class you expect burning from isn’t in that lineup.
Guardians? They are in the line-up. :p
I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of a guardian killing someone with burning though…
Eles
What leads you to ask that? I have heard nothing one way or another and I’ve been avidly looking for leaks.

I kinda don’t have a problem with the price of the custom arena starter kit, nor the price on the time tokens, I just have a problem with the grace period before the arena you’ve paid so much on is deleted!!!!! :O
Can’t they just hide it from the server list after a certain period of time after it runs out of charge? Why delete it? I don’t want to buy another arena just because, let’s say we didn’t play in that arena for a month!
Arenas get deleted if you don’t add time to them within a certain amount of time? Seriously???
Very disappointed.
I’m actually going to log into gw1 to open those presents that I’m sure I have. This will make my gw2 birthday better…
While it sounds interesting in theory the application of it would be detrimental. Dropping lootbags would interfere with game-play, especially when the difference between winning and losing can be the seconds it takes to rotate—any distractions would have negative effects on the matches and even if you have the bags delivered to you after the match, it would put too much emphasis on killing.
The high-ranked players don’t care about loot but the newer ones are still working on outfits so they would gravitate towards the easy-to-kill-with classes while the better players would be pushed into playing bunker roles since they actually want to win and aren’t looking for lootbags.
Not saying it isn’t impossible or a good start, but I think recognizing fundamental problems early on is key to a better system.
While the alogrithm isn’t public knowledge the general consensus seems to be that it has nothing to do with your win-loss ratio but rather with who you have beaten (aka the MMR of the opposite team compared to yours).
If you beat bad players then you will not go up much but if you lose to low-ranked players (leaderboard rank not personal) then you will go down a lot.
Also it’s EXTREMELY unlikely that personal score has anything to do with it. I don’t know of anyone who supports that theory.
Also, just because you’re winning doesn’t mean you’ll continue to go up. Other people are entering the leaderboards often and it sometimes bumps you down ranks.
The players with only a few games played ~20 will decay out of the top 100 unless they continue playing eventually.
I would love a system like high-level smash tournaments.
Each player can strike a map in smakitten works there because it’s just 1v1. But if in gw2 all the players could put a strike on 1 map per match and any map receiving 2 strikes would NOT be played on I would love that.
CC war would be cool but I still think Spirit ranger would be stronger since we’re not just talking 2v1 here.
With a Spirit ranger he can whip out TG and even run runes of the ogre for the rock dog. Rock dog+pet+2thieves from TG+Thief+Ranger = ton of burning applications no matter how much removal you have. Plus a ton of clutter, perfect for the thief to hide—don’t even need stealth trololol
Syncing isn’t even the problem since in a better world there’s a 50% chance they’d face against each other.
The big problem with the current MMR is that it tends to group the 5 best ranked players on a team against the bottom 5 players on the team, so the games are typically very lopsided. This not only creates imba matches, but makes it much easier to sync with someone of similar MMR. It’s no surprise that the top ranked players conveniently enjoy the luxury of playing together often against completely lesser-ranked teams.
Hence the lucrative amounts of players in the top 100 with 75% + win ratios.
They even got a 1v1 tournament dueling arena in this past update.
Imagine if for 1 month we had a 1v1 dueling arena while other players could literally watch us fight in a dome.
For those of you who are mind-blown by hearing this, I am not even kidding, there’s literally a 1vAI dueling arena for prizes in the current living world update. It happens in a clear dome where your friends and anyone can literally watch you battle it out. Basically 1v1 with unlimited spectators for PvE.
You know… not like the PvP community has been asking for that for like the past YEAR..
wtf

I like how all of you mention balance. I have to let you guys know they have been balancing, just about every month or two theres a big balance patch, theres been several big balance patches.
The one coming after PAX is going to be the 6th balance MAJOR balance patch (not including the minor ones).
We’re asking for it based on our wishlist of priorities, not because we don’t think it’s coming. People who list it first think it’s that much more important than anything else. At least that was the intent of the thread.
Also, some players think that the meta is perfectly fine and thus are not asking for balance, so to them it’s not a priority at all.
Doesn’t sound like it. I’d like it if someone could verify by using gwshack info to compare the 2 teams to see if its still stacking them. I am not at home to do this test myself.
As a player what would your wish list of priorities be? I am curious as to what you guys would like to see first. Here’s my tentative list:
1) Better reward system. Even though it would delay everything else I feel that it’s fundamental to the longevity of the game. Remove the barrier from PvE/PvP rewards.
2) Balance the current meta.
3) Fix the match-making system so it stops creating ridiculously imba matches.
4) daily/monthly in-game tournaments. At the moment team Q is a joke.
5) new game-modes. Even if it was just by letting us customize our custom arenas to be team death match, capture the flag, etc.

Where can I see my %?
Started late and getting teamed with rank 1 rangers with bear probably left me at 0% or sth like that
.
That and the fact I am an ele
.
You need to have played at least 11 sQ matches. If you have then go to the top of this page and hover over “Community” the click on leaderboards from the drop down menu. Click on Solo Q arenas and log in and you’ll see your rank.
Definitely works! Amazing!!!
Cruuks build is definitely unique and not an exploit. He focuses on a highly intensive stealth build which is extremely easy to counter.
He wants to pull 2 people to far while he dances around trying to prep his might-stacked BS. The problem being that without his 10-20 might stacks and stealth he is extremely weak.
Easy solution to never die to cruuk as a home-point bunker: whenever you see a black powder on the ground then stand in it. Eat a heart seeker to reveal him. His HS is EXTREMELY weak since he has very weak power and no might stacks on. He does SO much prep and it can all be ruined just by standing on his BP since HS has about a 400 hit radius. Easiest thing to counter in the game sine he never fights to keep the point contested.
Lol yes most D/P are bad and I have been to lazy to learn S/D
It’s definitely the high skill ceiling. For example, Caed will always try to headshot your heal after he bursts you while a bad thief will try and HS you down to kill you. Also bad thieves use HS without properly telegraphing it after an enemy dodges. There is just so much room to be bad and so much room to be good. The best thieves are fully aware of their strengths and their weaknesses.
Honestly I used to be a very bad thief until they nerfed Haste. Now I believe I am one of the top 10 D/P on NA. Perhaps that’s just wishful thinking though.

I agree, Chase. But it is puzzling how Silentshoes could fall so far without playing at all. He did post that he was not going to play until they fixed the matchmaking to give fair matchups.
He said he wasn’t going to play about 4-5 days ago. Two days ago he did play and lost a lot of rank from it (looks like 200 ranks from the loss) meaning he probably lost to a bad team. I don’t see anything unusual since with so few games played ones rank is extremely volatile.
Yeah it works. Did it that way and my way.
Try it with Silentshoes.1805
He was too 1,000 a couple days ago and high percent now. It will still show him on gwshack even though he is currently not in top 1,000.
At the moment he’s the only person on my friends list who fit into this example but I am sure I can find other examples if you want.

The Art of War is about strategy more-so than tactics. You’ve illustrated semi-effective tactics but not necessarily how you’ve employed strategy. Glad it’s been useful to you, though.
Then you probably did something incorrect since the site is working perfectly fine for me. I just checked it again.
Yes it does. I checked earlier today and can check again right now lol.
You’re making claims with your support being that you were top 1,000 and decayed 20 ranks per day to fall from that into percentiles. To support that claim I’d like to see evidence. Post on your alt.
For the claims you’re posting.
I only bothered to follow you after you made that thread about how bad players who think they’re good would realize in solo q that they’re bad. I thought it was hilarious coming from someone who was never top 1k in team q where basically everyone who was good and active made top 1k at some point or another. I basically hit 170 from just soloing it. So I figured is add you since you were talking all pompous to see where you ended up.
Accurate? I think it’s very accurate except around the top 100 since that’s typically where the inactives are (11 games played etc). I think it’s accurate because all of the GOOD and active players I know are all top 200 and all of the bad players I know aren’t even top 1,000. I would think its inaccurate if I saw some high-end player with 50+ games NOT in the top 1,000.
Sorry your main account is bottom 27% and you refuse to post I. Your secret main who was top 1,000 material but decayed off.
You were right though, the sQ shows the bad players who can’t carry.
Sure, Solo queue is a better representation of personal skill level than Team queue. However, guild wars 2 pvp is largely based around team play. I tried playing more team oriented builds in solo queue and lost, but I can switch to trolly AI or spam specs and do much better. Ultimately, certain builds are just way overpowered in solo queue due the the enemy’s lack of coordination neccessary to take them down. Another argument is that in Solo queue people feel more comfortable taking new builds to experiment with than in the old system. I take all sorts of utils and build combinations in there that I wouldn’t have ever attempted in the old queue system, especially if I was party queueing.
TL;DR: Solo queue does a better job of showing personal skill level than team queue, but there are plenty of people using it to experiment as well as plenty of people focused solely on winning because they take it very seriously. In team queue, everyone is focused on winning.
I agree completely and that’s the main reason I only sQ now.

I thought it was hilarious coming from someone who was never top 1k in team q where basically everyone who was good and active made top 1k at some point or another.
You lost me. You want to explain the logic of this?
Does not getting into the TeamQ top 1000 somehow reveal a lack of intelligence? A lack of the ability to see how a series of truly equal matchmaking would reveal to some players that they are not as good as they thought they were?
Is your attack here an example of “Forum PvP”? What is your goal here?
I had no goal. I was just wondering why you claim to be top 1,000 when your main account isn’t and you refuse to show your hidden alt to verify your credibility.
For the claims you’re posting.

Sure. Post on your alt account so we can see your credibility. When you start posting extreme examples of losing/decaying 20 ranks per day with some mysterious alt you play on all the time but only post with your main which you’ve only played 16 games on it becomes very difficult to take your claims seriously. Especially when your main is 27% and you’re talking about the transition from top 1,000 to percentiles.
No it varies.
If you reverse the rating it starts at 0% and there are 40 pages of people (1000 more) to go to 38% or so.
My spot was at 964 yesterday, falling about 20 a day while not playing, and this morning it was at 68%, which I am guessing is about 1050 because I lost a game.
What are you talking about? You’ve never been top 1,000 or even close. Ever since LB came out you have been 38% or lower. I’ve had you on my friends lust to see. Even if somehow you claim to have climbed out from that hole you have not. Gwshack.info shows everyone who has EVER been top 1,000 if you type their account name in.
The odd thing is why would you even care to lie to prove something like this? That’s ridiculous.
You’re not correct, gwshack, info does not show anyone who has been in top 1000. They must maintain their rank, once they drop below top 1000 they are unlisted from the website. The only way to prove you’ve been in top 1000, is to be in the top 1000.
Actually I am correct. Yes the first PAGE will only show the top 1,000 players currently but if you click on one of their names and replace their account name in the URL with the person you are looking up you will be taken to that players profile of their info when they WERE in the top 1,000. If nothing shows up it means you’re in the wrong continent NA/EU or it means they’ve literally never been ranked in the top 1,000.

I am all for it but they really do need to incentivize it through gems or gold or QPs or SOMETHING
Yeah I wholly agree with the OP. that addresses my main concerns in the game.
Several players have a 0% win-rate after 11+++ games.
So then why remove it? Some people enjoy looking at it. It seems that the simple solution would be for those who don’t care to just not look at it. Everyone wins.
Don’t look at the leaderboard if you don’t like it. Some of us actually enjoy it while we don’t necessarily agree its working perfectly. If it’s purely luck based then why aren’t noobs in the top 100? Oddly enough skilled players are performing as expected… they’re doing very well on them.
If you don’t care about it don’t look at it.
The only way condis are “bursting people” is because of bleed and burning. Nerf burnings overall damage and how condi power effects it. Nerf bleeding’s overall damage, how condi power effects it and nerf how it stacks in intensity. 6 stacks of bleeding on a target shouldnt be doing the insane amount of damage it is doing now. These 2 condis are the reason condi classes are destroying. Nerf them and balanced game.
Today i was beign nuked by a necro pretty bad, i think i have never seen that amount of damage not even on a backstab, its hard to believe that conditions are “bursting” instead of doing damge in time…and bursting better than a burst build and in less time.
Exactly. I thought people would yell at me for saying that necros can essentially BURST with their conditions, but there’s no other way I see fit to describe it.
Meaning of MMR? I actively play on two accounts. One more than the other by a lot but my main account is 250ish and my mule is 300ish. Both fluctuate from 150-400. It’s consistent for me and my wife.
My typos are due to iPhone autocorrect
They read almost all of it. I’ll shortly explain their line of thought:
1) they don’t want to make any balance changes because if their 10,000 $ tournament in a couple weeks. The teams have been perfecting their comps under the current meta.
2) They are waiting to see how well the player base can adapt to the new condi meta. They don’t want to over-nerf the nec and ranger into an unviable class again so they’re watching to see if this is mostly a L2P issue or if its that those specs are severely OP. I believe it’s a mix of both.
3) they’re waiting a few weeks to watch the solo q leaderboards stabilize. It is my belief that they think the leaderboards and MMR is working in theory and that it needs time to stabilize. That’s partially true but the current set up with the low population on NA makes it ridiculous. It’s pooling 10 players together and dividing the teams based on similar ranks. Meaning EVERY player on one team is better ranked than theBEST ranked player on the other team. In theory that’s OK if the top players were active but as it is now the top 10 players are just slaughtering teams with average ranks of 100-500.
(edited by Lux.7169)
In gw1 condi comps were meant to win long battles of attrition and to punish teams that didn’t bring sufficient removal.
That’s not the case in gw2. No amount of condi removal currently available will stop these condi builds. Condi builds are essentially acting as burst builds downing the average non-bunker in 15-30 seconds if they don’t disengage. The amount of survivability that the 2 dominating classes have coupled with their point control is what makes these builds OPin the current meta.

There are a ton of tourneys being hosted… in the PvP Events forum.
I’m sorry you find my observations insulting but I am just speaking to the facts as I know them. Perhaps instead of acting like you’re entitled to rank 800 and acting paranoid and protecting it you could just play on it and not care about the leaderboard you think has no merit.
Over the 150 games I’ve played with and against top players I have never had any of them ask the team to join TS.
(edited by Lux.7169)
I am only replying to what you’ve told us. Basically: “I am too afraid to play on my rank 800 account so I bought another account and now I am 35% and can’t crawl out.”
Play 100 games on your rank 800 account then come show me its still not 35%
You said you were scared to play on your 800 account so it sounds like you’ve been playing more on your 35% thus making it the more accurate representation of your skill.
If you’re struggling to win down there what makes you think you deserve top 1,000? Perhaps instead of blaming bad luck or your teams you could take responsibility and re-evaluate your approach to winning. The only common factor in all of your games is you.
(edited by Lux.7169)
Do you deserve to be rank 800? Your true MMR won’t be accurate with so few games played.
