This problem with the small user interface has been around since launch I believe.
I used them a lot soloing PVE while leveling up. But at higher levels, they just get destroyed way too quickly. Like, 1 shotted all the time. So they became totally worthless.
Statistically, both the 10x and the 1x recipes have around a 33% chance of forging a clover.
In the LONG run. That doesn’t mean every third forge guarantees you a clover.
But if you were to try to forge 200 globs, that would be 200 1x attempts or 20 10x attempts.
You have a better chance of achieving the ‘average’ return after 200 tries versus 20 tries.
The 10x recipe will more than likely either result in success well above the normal return rate or well below. That is why people say it is more of a gamble.
Yeah, I realize you can craft them with Alts.
But it just seems an odd choice for profession for this legendary as none of the classes that use the pistol has any real reason to level armorsmithing.
I realize what must be done at this point, but the logic behind having this profession to make this legendary just seems misplaced.
At least leveling up armorsmithing will get me some levels and some skill points.
Hate to say it, but MF does not seem to improve the chance for a lodestone drop. I came to that conclusion after many hours of farming them, and so did a few other people that I knew who farmed them. Drop rates seemed the same or better without MF.
Why add a new ingredient? Why not just have the bottle of elonian wine for sale for 10 laurels? Makes no sense.
Maybe they just meant we would get real life Karma for this. Not the in-game currency.
shrugs
^ What he said.
I believe the post he is referencing is in the WvW subforum somewhere.
They are OK with you doing this.
In order to make the legendary pistol The Quip, you need to level both Hunstman and Armorsmith to 400.
If the only classes that can use a pistol are engineer, thief, and mesmer, then the requirement for Armorsmithing seems a little out of place.
Engineer and thieves would have need of the Leathercrafting profession and Mesmers would have need of the Tailor profession.
But none of these classes have a direct benefit from the Armorsmithing profession. So it seems an odd choice to be a requirement for the legendary pistol.
Depends on your ‘personal reward’ level. If you are level 16 and do a level 20 daily, your bonus daily chest will be for your current personal reward level, 16 (Not a Tier 20-29 daily chest as some think).
A subsequent level 10 run will not yield you an additional tier 10-19 daily chest.
Usually at least one person will receive a mist essence or lodestone.
It should only take like 3 minutes to clear everything. Not that time consuming really. I really don’t understand why people skip the stuff. I mean, I’ve never had lodestones drop from Cursed Shore mobs.
And if you are in a PUG and someone falls, it will become a real hassle for them to deal with the mobs when they try to rez.
They know about this issue and are looking into ways to fix it.
If someone is leaving the instance to grief people, they can be reported in game.
It is possible that someone wasn’t aware of the mechanics involved and accidentally left the instance before everyone received their rewards. I wouldn’t report that guy.
They have said they are looking into the cost of these recipes. Currently is does cost more to make the entire set as a satchel versus piece by piece.
I don’t think this is what they intended and they have said they will look into it.. and hopefully fix it.
But who knows when that will/may be.
You may have 1,500 hours but those hours were not spent ‘farming’ or playing where lodestones drop.
Most in PVE seem to come from mobs that only appear once Temples in Orr are uncontested.
They can also be farmed from the different dungeons throughout the land.
And fractals has been a great place to acquire lodestones/cores. I have acquired a nice little collection after running fractals for a couple weeks. I can sell the ones I don’t need to fund the purchase of the ones I do need.
You can spend another 1,500 hours playing, but if you are not playing where lodestones have a chance to drop then you will never see any.
‘Farming’ these specific areas used to result in a lodestone as quick as every 20-30 minutes but lately seems to drop one on average every 1-1.5 hours.
Might be a problem with the ‘instance’ owner. The person who enters the FOTM owns the instance. If he DCs or is having issues, it can cause the whole party to be kicked to Lion’s Arch.
Might try having someone else with a more stable internet/system try starting the instance.
Being in combat can and will return ruined ore, especially ori and ancient logs. Get out of combat before trying to mine these materials.
^ What he said.
You can do any even level between 10-19 and get the daily bonus chest which includes the pristine fractal relic.
You can do other tiers (20-29, 30-39) and get one bonus daily chest which includes pristine fractal relic also.
This is the reason you see a lot of people doing level 10 and 20 dailies.
Fractals don’t count.
The Dynamic Events sub forum has an on-going topic dedicated to this. Might want to check/post there for better response.
No rollback that I am aware of.
If you are completing dailies on 24 or 26 and are level 22/23, then you should be gaining a fractal level at the end of your run. It has been working for me.
You can enter the FOTM portal by yourself to see what your current level is.
You have to complete 3 random fractals in a row (or 4 including the Jad Maw for even fractal levels) in order to ‘advance’ a level.
Returning to the ‘hub’ will reset your current progress.
^ This.
Personal experience says SF players in JP will attack 90% of the time. ET players will almost always go about their business.
Funny thing is, I have the worst time with SF players in the ET borderland jumping puzzle. Makes me chuckle a little.
Salute to ET. SF.. I’ll be looking for you.
Just when I thought what could be worse than killing a dragon and getting a bunch of blues…
Bam! No rewards at all! Makes you start to appreciate those 5 blues. Well played… well played.
This was confirmed to be working as intended. It was said that they do this to circumvent a possible exploit they found during testing.
There was a post from a Dev about it in the Dungeons sub forum.
If you have everything for your legendary and 248m in the bank then you are not classified as a casual gamer.
If you can acquire that kind of wealth by ‘casual’ game playing that small amount of time than I say go for the gamble. Shouldn’t be hard for you to make up any losses. lol
Scavenger hunt is far off.. still in creative thought stage. Prices on precursors are likely to keep climbing.
Your character is a ranger, and you are witnessing a visual bug that is counting the armor from the PVP area, which is equiped with 6/6 Superior Runes of the Ranger, towards your total number of Superior Runes currently equiped.
You in fact, are only receiving the benefit of having ‘2’ equiped. This is a known visual bug that has been around forever.
Fractal Relics..
Badges of Honor…
There is DR on the dragon chest??? That is news to me.
202 tries using the 1x method to achieve 77 clovers.
Just for informational purposes.
Just for reference, crafted 77 clovers last night using the 1x method. Took 202 tries.
Slightly above the average is seems like.
The patch notes seem to imply you can get more than one daily chest. But these daily chests, as are other rewards, are tied to either the fractal level you are or the fractal level your group is running, whichever is less.
Meaning that level 4 guy could only get one fractal chest, even if he ran in 10,20,30,40.
Also explains why that level 1 guy did not receive a daily chest in the example above.
Thanks, good to know.
But that is weird, that the level 1 person didn’t receive a daily chest. I wonder why he wouldn’t like everyone else??
Can’t seem to find an answer by searching.
If I have a level 23 fractal character and join a group doing level 24 fractals, will the daily chest be awarded after defeating the maw?
I know my ‘rewards’ will be scaled down to the lower of my fractal level or the current group fractal (in this case, 23), but the notes seem to imply that I will still be awarded the daily chest after defeating the maw.
Any verification of this?
It has never went away automatically. (Talking about the frostbite).
You always have to clear it by a fire before progressing to the woods and the boss. Otherwise, I believe dying is the only way to clear it.
You will get 15 for levels 2 and 4. Another 20 for level 6.
You will only get the daily chest bonus 20 fractals for tier 1 (2-8) once.
Great.. because what I want to do at crafting level 400 is just craft 10 items for the sake of crafting 10 items.
I hope so. I don’t want to run some higher level fractals with some guy that is a stealth level 1.
But it sound like your rewards are tied to either your fractal level (your highest completed fractal level) or the current fractal you are in, whichever is lower.
If that is the case, a level one person would not be getting better loot for running with a level 5 fractal group. Likewise, a level 10 person running with the same level 5 fractal group would be getting loot rated for the level 5 fractal.
I’m a little worried about the potential for abusing the ‘Players can now connect to a fractal map even if they are not part of the original group that created the fractal instance’ part. Kick someone at Maw, just to have a buddy join and get credit for the level.
^ Exactly this.
As someone from a low population server, I look forward to being able to participate in and open up the temple of Balthazar. Around a million Karma saved up for some shards.
Fits the mesmer much better. As does Lyss and Ilya.
I believe history seems to indicate patches have been released around or after server reset. I wouldn’t expect it until at least then.
Nice one. Nice one.
At least I am not alone in having a Sylvari engineer!
Guy gets rare/exotics from PVE or dungeons. Salvages for ectos. This is acceptable.
Guy gets ascended from FOTM. Salvages for ectos. This would be a bad thing?
I don’t follow? How is this benefiting only FOTM farmers? It would just put them on the same playing field.
I wouldn’t care if you could salvage them for mist essences. Something other than the useless collection of ‘ascended’ rings.
Heck, legendaries can be sold.. why not ascended gear?
Yet, sadly, the engineer and ranger will be the one to get nerfed again.
I agree. There should be an alternative to these ‘fancy’ legendaries. At least two legendaries for every type of weapon.
Seems greatswords are the only thing that got any love in this game, even a lot of their named exotics have great effects.
The Quip on my engineer? No thanks.
And as an engineer I have only two options.. Quip and Predator. And I am not a rifle engineer.. so..
There are just so many currencies in the world now, it is hard to find space for them all. Dungeon tokens, fractal relics, pristine fractal relics, karma, badges of honor, commander’s commendations, soon to be laurels. And you are really out of luck if you have multiple stacks of each currency.
A currency tab or something similar would greatly be appreciated. Why should I have to resort to creating an alt character just to use as a mule?
Yes, the Claw of Jormag event adds were nerfed.. and the drop rate on Corrupted Lodestones in general appears to have been nerfed. The usual farm spots that would turn up a lodestone about every 20-30 minutes now yields one about every 1-1.5 hours.
And I agree, I think the bots were driving the price down.
