While I am not in the same situation as the OP, I can understand their point.
All six of my toons are 80 so I am not affected the same way.
But, upon looking at the pre-assigned traits that were chosen for each of my characters, they did not match up any where close to what my previous builds were. Some traits were assigned that I did not use while others I did use were not assigned.
As a level 80, I could easily reassign mine so I am not in the same boat as the OP.
But the only point to my post was that the auto-assignment of traits was incredibly flawed and did not assign traits that I was using while assigning others I did not use. If I were sub-80 and locked into the build that was assigned to me I would be none to happy.
Nothing in the CoC or anything says a player can not wait around for an event to spawn. O.o That makes is sound like everyone waiting for Taco at the daily reset is in violation.
Which is what the OP is looking for. An event that spawns periodically that he can participate in when it is up.
Unacceptable Performance GW2 needs optimized!
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Mad Rasputin.7809
As most people have figured out over the lifespan of the game, GW2 is horribly optimized for AMD processors. It runs so much better on an Intel.
And I wouldn’t say it’s all AMD’s fault, as certain processors of theirs that SHOULD be able to handle the game just fine don’t seem to perform very well.
There really is no getting around the fact that GW2 is horribly optimized for AMD processors and you will almost always get a better performance from an Intel.
Not wanting to have access to your entire stash of gold has been a valid concern since the wallet was introduced.
Who walks around IRL with their entire life savings in their back pocket? There are plenty of valid reasons as to why a player would not want immediate access to the entire savings. Some players do not mind having access to the entire savings at all times, but others do.
Hence why I am asking about our personal banks getting back the ability for us to store gold. It was a feature we had, that we lost and ArenaNet staff told us to use a personal guild bank. All I am asking for is clarification on whether or not they have the intention to add personal gold storage back to our personal banks.
But the question is why do we need that? We already can store gold, it’s just that it happens automatically and it can be accessed from anywhere and on any character.
- I doubt very much if ANet staff told us to use a personal guild bank. My memory is that they said (in response to a question) that it was permitted.
- Some people like to store gold outside the wallet to reduce their spending, using the out-of-sight/out-of-mind technique.
- The new system allows this, at a limit of 500g/week.
- An alternative is to put in TP buy offers that are too low to get fulfilled. For example, offer 1,000 gold for Eternity, or 4 gold for 250 Superior Runes of Holding. Cancel the offers when you want the gold (no limits from the TP).
The original thread has been deleted by ANet with the forum reorganization. But here is what was said. ANet did tell players to use the personal guild bank route.
(Per Martin Kerstein): page 5 of thread listed below
It is not as simple as having both, it is something that is within the code and the interaction of multiple different elements of the game. So it might look like an easy thing on the outside – under the hood there is a lot of programming magic going on.
So if you need to have a bankspace to protect yourself from – well – yourself, you have to use the “individual guild” route.
Please see this thread: (for answers to your question and other questions):

It definitely includes the small crater lava pits during the last fight.
Best just to avoid them altogether while trying for this achievement.
With their choice in WvW forum specialist and their decision to have 2 PvP forum specialists, it is quite obvious where their focus lies.
Since map completion is character bound, it makes since that the rewarded star is character bound. If map completion were account bound, then the star would be account bound too. But I wouldn’t support that change.
Four of my six toons have their star. The fifth will get his soon. The sixth, well, she’ll just have to wait a while longer. She is only at ~50%.
One of the problems is, if you stop to harvest that cactus in most areas of SW, you will end up dead by the swarm of Mordrem that spawn on top of you during the events.
I try to hit up every node I can when running by, but sometimes you just got to let things go. Stopping to hit that cactus can cost you your life a lot of times.
No.
There is a reason that a big portion of the population of GW2 doesn’t do PvP. They just don’t like it.
The dead don’t scale the events.
The dead don’t help the DPS any, but they are not hurting the events. They often become distractions and block other interactables, but they are not scaling the event. The often block other players who are just downed, and this hurts. But if they are out of the way, it is best for them to stay there dead and get a rez after the event finishes so they will be there and ready for the following defense stage instead of having to run all the way back.
Rezzing the downed is a must if you can do so safely without dying yourself. Fully dead people will not be rezzed as there is not enough time to do so and still provide DPS. You actually are hindering progress usually if you try to rez a completely dead player because you are taking away very needed DPS. Best thing to do is DPS and finish the event, then try to rez.
Wipes during the VW and the Breach are almost always due to groups of players either not knowing the tactics and wiping or just plain trolls ruining the events. The dead players are not the cause of the failures as they are often blamed.
The best thing you can do is to communicate and teach the tactics for each encounter every time you do the event. New players are always joining the maps and many do not know or understand what to do or why. The best maps are with players who understand the tactics.
DR can hit you by running around the entire CS map and doing events/killing mobs.
My guardian has hit DR hard there. The last month, I’ve used him during our regular Tuesday night CS farming guild event. The last couple times I have received way more porous bones than heavy moldy bags. He hasn’t been moved from CS so that is the issue, as I am aware. This is from farming many events on the map, not just the same event. I just skipped our weekly guild event in CS this week because I know the DR is still kicking in heavy on him.
So it does happen, and with some regularity. Some would have you believe differently, but it’s an issue if you have an ALT dedicated for farming purposes like this.
Agreed. Before giving us another 50 back pieces as rewards that will never be seen, fix this issue.
Another issue is legendary weapons with kits. Engie is getting a new weapon, hammer it seems. Don’t get too excited about using that Juggernaut with your Engie. You will almost certainly still need to use kits to be effective which means you will never see that weapon or it’s effects.
The game is touted as being all about skins/looks at end game. Why is it one class is left out when it comes to back pieces and legendaries?!
I’ve gotten two stacks of obsidian shards by farming Silverwastes, both events/breach/Vinewraith and chest farming.
And that is not even spending any bandit crests to purchase them yet. You can still to that to supplement what you receive by playing.
The best place to get ascended rings is through fractals. They can drop from the boss chest at levels 11+ or you can purchase with 10 pristine fractal relics.
The best place to get ascended amulets is through laurels. Cost of 30 laurels. Or 20 laurels + 250 Badges of Honor in WvW (This is the best option)
The best place to get ascended accessories is this guild commendations. Cost of 5 gold and 12 guild commendations.
These are the best ways (cheapest) to get your ascended gear but there are other ways to do so also.
I used to crash every time during a Taco fight or the VW fight in SW.
I had to resort to setting my graphic setting to min just to keep from crashing, but it worked.
After playing around with my settings, I found Character Model Limit has the biggest effect. I’ve dropped it down from High to Low and left the rest of my settings alone and so far have not experienced any more crashes.
I’ve seen numerous players AFK the entire fight before. But I do not agree with changing anything. If the AFK the entire fight, just report them as bots. If they AFK for several minutes, I just shrug it off. It happens.
And I’ve never seen a Vinewraith attempt fail because of AFKers scaling the event. Every time we fail and the AFKers get blamed, they are not the real issue. The real issue were the players not knowing the strategy and how to do the different bosses leading to wipes.
I hope they don’t give one away for free, because I already picked one up in anticipation of the new class. If they do give one out for free, they better refund me my gems or I am going to be very unhappy.
I can understand what you are saying and getting at, but this is a PAID expansion. Which means nothing the customer is getting is for free.
To be quite frank, with the list of suspected content that I have seen, it will pretty much need to include a character slot to help justify the cost. The new class seems to be a fairly substantial part of the new expansion and if you are locked out of that content because you lack a character slot, you will not be getting as much bang for your buck.
A lot of the older green master picks had no level associated with them, but they were tied to the level of the character at the time they were acquired.
Which means, you quite often ended up with ruined ore chunks. There was no way to tell the level of the item, if I recall. It was too big of a risk to use for mining ori that I just deleted all mine ages ago and purchased new ones.
The giant slayer achievement really is way out of line. Just not enough in the game. I’ve played for over 2500+ hours and have 6 giant killings to my name I believe.
We have a guildie that goes out of his way to slay giants. He passed the 500 mark a few weeks back. I’m impressed by his perseverance.
Feedback for ANet on this issue:
Move it to the bottom of this panel/screen. Account info should be up top, not the bottom.
Switch these two please.
I’m torn on this a little.
My biggest issue with the new loot drop system implemented in areas like SW is that they are mice killers.
They require so much double clicking to first open the bag of loot, then to salvage. The amount of clicks on my mouse has really grown.
If they would add some features to complement the new loot drop system it would be fantastic. Salvage all for one. Just some extra features that would slow down the amount of clicks and double clicking neccessary to do everything.
Just saying, if I have to buy an expansion pack and an additional character slot on top of the expansion pack just to enjoy the new class then it might be a no go for me.
You are going to be paying for an expansion pack anyways. It’s not too hard or asking too much for at least one character slot to be included. In fact, it could almost be seen as ‘greedy’ not to include one and ask players to purchase an additional slot.
On a side note, soft wood logs take 4 to refine instead of 3 because of a change early on in the game. It used to be 3, but there was an abundance of soft logs so they changed it to 4 to create a sink. They probably should have changed it back around the time ascended crafting was released.
And while iron ore is used both for iron ignots and steel ignots, if you farm iron you will notice you get much more iron per ‘swing’ of the pick than other nodes. Three hits with your mining pick can easily yield 5-6 iron where another resource like mithril would yield simply 3.
Dead players don’t scale the event. A dev has already confirmed this. Please stop spreading false information.
The real issue isn’t that they are scaling the event. The issue is you now lack enough DPS to finish the event due to the lack of players. It’s not a scaling issue, just not enough players DPSing to finish in time.
WPing back is actually a pretty bad idea. Not only does it not scale the event, that lane would now have to wait for players to run back to their lane to aid in the defense stage. Without all the players, the defense stage becomes a bear to do also. Rezzing players just after you come out of the event, failed or not, is often the best strategy since you now have everyone there to assist with the defense.
Best thing you can do is stop spreading false information and try to help out all the players participating in the event with you by educating them on the tactics so they become better.
Too often I see players being verbally abused by other players at the Vinewraith because they don’t know the tactics or are just plain not that great. Teach them and help them. Save the rants and verbal abuse. It does nothing to help the event succeed.
Heck, just open up the ‘elite’ skill slot to allow us to use a utility skill there if we wish. That slot should allow us to use an elite skill or a utility skill, whichever we choose.
This has been brought up before, but I do believe the actual price might be 2880, therefore a 44% savings off of that number. The strikethrough might make the 2880 look like 2000.
Hobosacks gone.
Nuff said.
Does Braham’s bubble even do anything? It didn’t protect me or give me any stability. Is it supposed to?
I definately wouldn’t try this encounter again without bringing a character that has easier access to stability. If you don’t have access to lots of stability, you will get your rear handed to you.
I didn’t see any of these ‘tripwires’ with my settings either. I’ll have to look a little closer later.
Customer service is almost always helpful, from reports I hear.
This issue with ‘unique’ items has existed for a long time in game, especially concerning ascended rings. I’m really not sure why they didn’t include something in the NPE update to help address this issue.
This issue has been pestering new players for a long time, while I’m not sure using a Vista was much of an issue.
Megaservers ruined gw2nodes. As was said, you never know which map you are loading into.
And I also agree, farming Ori/Ancient Wood is not as profitable as it once was. Not worth the effort, tbh.
It’s a blatant attempt to suppress the master race that is the Sylvari!
We are tired of being lauged at by others, and peed on by those filthy Charr. We shall have ours.
While out roaming the vast expanse of Tyria last night, saving citizens and delivering numerous care packages to one Mr. Private Starks, I ran across the latest big threat to Tyria.
It shocked and surprised me at the same time, knowing that this villian had been hiding in plain sight right under our noses this entire time. Feeding happiness and good will all the while undermining Tyria’s fragile economy with shady back door dealings.
I’m still a little taken back by the whole thing, but I personally witnessed one Ms. Gaile Gray in game gathering up grapes for her illegal wine making operation. Slowly, she gathered up her heaps of grapes all the while guarded by her little George the bodyguard.
The next part was a little fuzzy, thanks to all the nearby smoke, but I could swear I saw her fire up the still and make a fresh batch of her illegal wine.
It was at this point I realized the devastation of her tactics. Her tax evasion schemes has allowed the Council to remain nearly broke and unable to rebuild Lion’s Arch.
The vast countryside that I had just traversed wreaked of wrongdoings brought on by this illicit operation. Farmers unable to even feed there own livestock thanks to their own intoxication. One was even so loaded that he was shooting cows in a giant catapult.
Lodge after lodge across Tyria has become unmanageable thanks to the intoxication problems of their customers. Many towns are now experiencing water shortages thanks to all the buckets of water needed to wake up passed out patrons.
The worse shock came when I realized she was making a special batch just for one particular Djinn. Feeding his addiction, keeping him hooked on the wine. Getting him to rob the hard working citizens of Tyria, for both her own personal profit and amusement. It was at this point that a rage began to boil in me.
This villian must be brought down. Her illegal wine making operation must stop. The citizens of Tyria must be protected against this type of danger. The health, safety, and well being of Tyria and every citizen in it depend on it.
The last few times I did Bria she was working so I think they may have gotten the bugs worked out finally.
But she was bugged for a LONG time after release. If even a hint of the problem remains then I’d say ‘no’ to making her a world boss.
But this event, like several others in other zones, are very nice events. The possiblity to enhance these events a little and make them a little more ‘grander’ does exist I would think.
As a long time vet, I have to agree that the trait changes are absolutely horrible.
I came back recently after an extended break and decided to make a new elementalist to go along with the other 5 level 80s.
I soon found myself level 68 with zero traits unlocked. Granted, I used scrolls to boost to level 46 immediately but the remaining levels came from map exploration and playing the game.
So I decide to take a look at the requirements to get some traits. Geez.. adept traits that require you to defeat a high level champion? Kinda hard to do if you don’t have a build yet. More adept traits that require 100% map completion of an area? I’m already working on my 5th 100% map completion, no need to force me to do more.
The requirements to unlock these traits in the open world are a little excessive imho. I really don’t know how a new player would handle some of these.
I’m currently stuck with a level 75 elementalist with almost no traits unlocked. I can not even mess around with builds to see what fits my playstyle. How can this possibly be a good thing not being able to try new builds out while leveling?
As it stands, I have to wait until I hit 80, to hopefully get decent enough gear to be able to unlock most of the traits, to then be able to try some builds out. Then, maybe I can finally settle on a build and get some real end game gear and start enjoying the game.
These type of changes definately don’t entice me to come back to the game and make another alt to stick around for a while longer.
On a side note, I refuse to go post in the giant Mega-Thread on traits. Until ANet fixes the search feature on the forums, merging every thread into a giant Mega-Thread is pretty useless. There is no way most people can wade through that many pages on a single thread.
Quit merging everything into a giant mess of a Mega-Thread if the search button is not working.
These crashes are far too common. The only way I can get them to stop is to drop my display settings to the minimum for the duration of these fights.
Such a beautiful game, but all that is lost when they continue to make content that can not be viewed or played at settings below minimum.
This game most definately does NOT run better on AMD processors. TBH, this game doesn’t seem to like AMD processors very much at all.
Go with an i5 or i7.
Is there an option to remove BLTC Icon from my screen?
Duct Tape works.
Duct Tape confirmed for the BLTC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bell Rankings to be released with the Fractal Leaderboards.
Soon.™
Players should expect most content to fall into the flash mob with swords or coordinated group play.
I’m not sure why I or other players should expect this.
ANet does a great job of spreading around the types of events to include coodinated group play, events that require players to come together in a quick group to finish the event then disperse, and even solo events.
I don’t see why players should expect ANet to abandon their solo play efforts and focus all their time on coordinated group play events.
Really, that is one of the great things about this game. There is so much variety that there is something for everyone to enjoy. But not everyone is going to enjoy everything.
And tbh, I’m not really sure how the LS has been lacking in group content given Silverwastes and Drytop and how their events are setup.
There isn’t such thing is some accounts getting stuck lucky. Yes there’s an RNG, yes it’s random and there are streaks and outliers and an even aggregate distribution.
Can you confirm whether it is an RNG that uses some sort of value from the user’s account or whether it is purely random/session based? I have a friend who swears that smack-talking an anet dev during a beta weekend pvp match doomed his account to poor rng for life.
Absolutely it does not use anything to do with a user.
I’m sorry, but quoting the resident Economist isn’t going to convince me that there might be something in their code somewhere that makes certain accounts luckier than others.
RNG is RNG and can make things look very funny to a certain people. I’ve personally seen too many cases of either ‘lucky’ or ‘unlucky’ accounts to attribute it all to RNG in my mind.
This stuff does happen. Just google the Wi Flag if you don’t believe. Errors in code can exist that create ‘lucky’ or ‘unlucky’ account behavior and can remain hidden in code for a long time.
RNG. Did you ask your friend exactly how many rates/exotics he threw in?
Also, all accounts are equal. One account is no luckier than another.
This is completely false. It was finally proven with Maze Balm farming rats. Mobs are guaranteed drop until DR kicks in. Guess what? Some people could farm for hours and get full drops all time, others including me couldnt go for more than 10 minutes before we got 0 drops. This 100% proved that not all accounts are equal.
Nope. It’s been stated by Anet that all accounts are equal.
Yeah, because everything ANet states is 100% correct.
Just like when they said there was nothing wrong with the drop rate or drop tables for Final Rest. Until magically it started dropping after a patch. After MONTHS of no one getting it as a drop. Of course, they only claimed to have increased the drop rate not that it was bugged.
Not that they neccessarily intend to lie, just sometimes they don’t know if something is broken.
Hello Gaile. Glad to finally get some feedback, and I thank you for that.
Here are my thoughts about the last news.
And yes, I know those are not the solutions that will be given to us, but I will still give my opinion about it.
> The fix concerning gem-store only backpacks is a big no. Many backpacks are released in that game as IG rewards, sometimes really expensive one (Jetpack, anyone?) and some players build their looks around those backpacks.
If a fix happens, it should concern all backpacks. That’s as simple as that.
> Second idea, the holster one. Not a big fan of it since it’s once again an undyable (that’s the biggest issue, undyable. That color clashes with almost all kind of armors.) piece that will recover the armor we are so proud of. Plus, if the holsters are that little, they won’t even serve their purpose, especially on Asuras, giving them another advantage.
And I will also add that there is already a backpiece completely trashing the prediction purpose of the backpacks, the rucksack, already completely covering backpieces.
-
Here is the best solution exposed in that topic, in my humble opinion :
> Each engineer get a visible boon similar to the attunement of the elementalists when equiped with a kit. Like that, our enemy can see what we are using.
Then, we get a checkbox in our inventory, near our bag. If checked, the engineer backpacks are displayed when using kits, replacing the classical backpiece. If not, they are not displayed, and the classical backpiece/absence of backpiece stays.
If a checkbox is not possible, just give us the attunement solution and get rid of the backpack, maybe releasing the different skins as backpiece skins, free of charge for engineers.
Once again, thanks.
A charr engineer hoping that this issue will finally be resolved.
I’m glad Gaile has looked into this and provided some feedback for us.
I agree with the above poster. Icons similar to the elementalist’s attunement icons seem like the easiest solution, with what would probably be the lease effort of all the solutions since the mechanics already exist in game. It’s a simple, yet elegant solution that addresses the issue of other players being able to tell what kit we are using.
The ‘check box’ to turn kits on or back pieces on coupled with the icons would be a nice touch that allows players who want to allow their kits to be shown to do so and allow players who wish to show their back pieces to do so.
That’s the thing. This really isn’t a ‘small issue’.
End games looks are everything in this game. And one of the eight professions has serious issues affecting their end game looks.
Couple that with the fact that the vast majority of LS rewards have been some type of back piece, and you get a whole class that does not get to experience the joy of the rewards that are being offered for doing the new content.
It is only classified as a ‘small issue’ because engineers are a small fraction of the population. For that small fraction of the population, this is a bigger issue.
And let’s be honest, there have been several great suggestions in this post that offer excellent solutions to the issue. Some of these solutions would seem to use existing in game mechanics and thus be easy to implement.
I finally broke down and purchased the Job-o-tron back pack from the gem store. I love that guy. But alas, he is always hidden thanks to my kits. I only get a glimpse of him occasionally. Right now, it just looks like my hobosacks are talking to me.
I guess my Engineer has turned into a true hobo, complete with a hobosack that talks to him like a crazy person murmuring to himself.
I recently came back to the game after a six month break and the minion’s AI has definately been boinked up since then. One of the patches has definately messed something up.
My minions often sit around doing nothing.
Minion AI used to be a real issue early in the game, but the fixed that issue sometime around 1 year ago (yeah, I can’t remember the exact time). After the fix, they worked pretty darn well but not perfect. Good enough not to complain much. Now, it is horrible.
Engineers with their hobosacks wave hi! We feel your pain.
I liked the capes in Guild Wars, especially since the art and animation teams got such a fluid “flow” to the fabric. (Actually, other game designers asked how it was done, back in the day!)
I imagine there would be challenges in incorporating capes, and naturally a cape would cover some of the armor pieces, which is a drawback when you’ve worked hard to get the whole “look” going on. As mentioned, it was brought up in the CDI, so that’s good.
Paradox — I’m curious. Why do you say “no capes?”
About the bit I bolded: So, cape covering some of the armor pieces is one of the things that might be involved in them not being implemented, huh?
Why do Engineers have Kit backpacks/Hobosacks, then? You know the ones – ruin a look the user’s tried hard to get, can’t even be customized, clip through or override existing back items many of which are rewards for meta-achievement completion…there’s a thread specifically about them on the Engineer boards. It’s been on, or near, the front page for most of its nearly two-year tenure, with more than a thousand posts.
For a game with such an emphasis on cosmetics, it’s honestly baffling that nothing’s been done about this. The balance concerns could easily be offset by the Standard Enemy Model system, or by implementing things like sound clips, boon badges, and better in-hand/weapon-style tells, but instead, this has been seemingly ignored for far too long.In short: Either Capes and Hobosacks are bad things because they cover armor and ruin a ‘look,’ or there’s no problem with either.
Yeah, though I hate to ‘call’ Gaile out on this, I was thinking the same thing.
ANet seems to understand the importance of end game looks, and how capes might affect that. But they seemingly don’t get how engineers feel about having their backpieces covered up by hobosacks.
Just think about how many of the LS rewards have been backpieces and then think about how Engineers don’t even get to enjoy that.
And I’m sure this same issue would exist if capes were introduced. Engineers wouldn’t get to enjoy them either.
On a side note, I’d love to grab the Job-o-Tron backpiece for my Engie. I always loved that dude, but I won’t purchase it because I know the issue of hobosacks will ruin it on him.
I, like many others, have always hated that ANet seems to always introduce new ‘currency’ with every patch which means more and more storage space getting used up.
I’m not really sure why every patch needs to have unique ‘currency’.
I’ve had the same thing happen at least twice in the past week. One time only got 2 chests, the other only 3 chests.
Character is not parked there, and I participate in the entire event. I couldn’t say for sure what ‘medal’ I received for each defend event.
I’m sure there are more players out there this is happening to. Not just an isolated incident.
It’s bad enough I have to turn all my graphics settings to low to keep from getting kicked at Taco. Especially when my machine will handle just about anything else in game fine. Now I am not getting all the rewards.
