Events are placed across Tyria for all to enjoy and partake.
If you run across the Champ Oak up and wish to solo him down, by all means do it. That is well within your rights as a hero of Tyria.
If you are bragging about breaking the train or other such behavior, it will not be looked at nicely from ANet’s POV.
Neither will harassing those who are completing events as they come across them. I’ll report anyone who is harassing others in Queensdale just because they feel ‘their’ train was broke.

Yeah, it was confirmed by a dev about 4 months ago. The type of salvage kit does NOT affect the amount of Essence of Luck you get.
Siege of Lion’s Arch?
Sounds vaguely familiar… like I’ve experienced that before….
Fastest way? Salvage ectos.
Cheapest way? Just salvage blues and greens you get while out exploring. Your MF will raise in no time. You get a lot of crafting materials also, which could be kept or sold.
Once you hit around 100% MF, it starts getting expensive to gain an additional 1% MF. All those blues and greens you are salvaging could be sold for $$.
There will come a point where you will have to decide on whether or not you want more $$ or more MF.
And the quality of the salavge kit doesn’t affect the drop rate of the essence of lucks. So always use the cheapest one when salvaging blues and greens. No need for a master or BLTC salvage kit.
Doing map completion is a fast and easy way to level. Just grabbing POIs, WPs, vistas, and skill points gives a good bit of XP. You’d be surprised how much XP you can get even if you skip the hearts.
The hearts give an even better chunk of XP.
And doing an explorable path of a dungeon will give you 70% of a level.
Hint completion has been bugged since launch for many players.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map_completion
Six maps, Fireheart Rise, Frostgorge Sound, Mount Maelstrom, Straits of Devastation, Malchor’s Leap, and Cursed Shore, all give 2 exotics as rewards for map completion.
I’d suggest at the very least to do these six maps on any character you have.
Loot you get can be at your character level or the level of the enemy you are fighting. In a starter zone, you will get varied leveled loot. In a level 80 zone, all your loot will be high level loot.
The LFG options don’t bother me that much, but I am really puzzled why they decided to move the reward levels by 1 with the update.
They just made it unneccessarily confusing.
The random NPC chatter makes me chuckle occasionally.
“Your mom is so dumb she thinks ‘elemental’ is four letters in the middle of the alphabet.”
Doing to the 5 temples and the karka queen will yield 30 dragonite ore each, totaling 180.
Doing the 3 dragons plus the golem and fire shaman will yield about 20 more dragonite each, totaling around 100 more.
That’s 280 dragonite ore. In what should take 2-3 hours max. Just like the Empyreal Fragments.
If you have alts, you can repeat the process daily.
Just buying them off the TP with gold you acquire from your favorite source like champ farming is always a winning scenario.
CoE is one of the few places you can actually get charged cores and charged lodestones to drop. So if you are trying to farm them directly instead of buying them, this is your best bet.
CoE is very easy once you learn the mechanics and can be very rewarding for the time spent.
CoE is the best reliable source for charged cores/lodestones. Run all three paths daily at a minimum.
Champ farming for gold/cores is a great way to achieve them also.
Southsun is usually only visited by guilds doing guild missions or a zerg there to do the karka queen. Other than that, the place is empty except for the occasional small group farming karka shells or other farmers off the coast.
IThe place is pretty much a ghost town on most servers most of the time.
Runes of divinity are definately worth their cost for certain builds, but zerker builds are better suited with other runes like runes of the scholar or the budget friendly ruby orbs.
Doing the world boss train. Gives a lot of rares that can be salvaged.
Running dungeons to get gold to buy a few. Then use the dungeon tokens to buy rares (level 68+) to salvage for globs.
Those are the two most reliable ways.
Always let your party know if you are new to a dungeon. That just let’s me know to explain things in chat to you that need to be explained like strategies. Otherwise, I assume you have ran before and know all the strategies.
DPS is preferred in dungeons because of the way the game is designed. Killing faster is always better. But feel free to bring whatever build you feel comfortable with. As you play, you may notice that you need to tweak your build for certain dungeons.
Most dungeon paths can be cleared by a competent group in 15-45 minutes. Arah is much longer for groups usually.
Dungeons are a very different experience than PvE. They are usually very tough initially, but once you learn the encounters and strategies they become real easy. It is not unusual for new players to go down a lot in a dungeon.
No followers in this game.
Rangers can have pets.
Mesmers can have clones.
Necros can have minions.
But no followers.
There is no dungeon team.
At least Robert will live on in the game through the heart quest in Metrica Province.
Updated the backend to better give out infractions, but no mention of fixing the ‘search’ functionality of the forums.
Yeah, priorities.
I’d destroy it in a heartbeat and never look back.
It’s worthless junk. Treat it as such.
Being stuck in combat is indeed a bug.
There is no reason for someone to be stuck ‘in combat’ for twenty minutes without a single enemy around.
This happens to me all the time. I will either have to WP, log out and back in, or just engage and kill another enemy to get out of the ‘stuck’ state.
The number listed for your critical chance is the actual number you need to use to determine your chance to land a critical.
50% critical chance means you will land a critical roughly half the time.
Precision is a stat that will increase your critical chance.
Critical chance is for both melee and range.
Why are they even spending more resources/time on this silly idea?
No.
That is all.
Their stance is one button, one action.
So, taking their stance literally, all three of your examples would be disallowed because they all perform more than one action per button/keystroke.
The second one might get you banned quicker than the other two though because it would give you a distinct advantage. The other two examples don’t really give you an advantage, but use them at your own risk.
This thread is like a timewarp to when RPG were on disks and C64. Don’t like something? Edit the hex code.
Hex code editing… ah… the good old days!
Yeah, this made me fondly smile.
Can anyone confirm if these will remove the new AR infusions from infusion slots?
If doing world bosses, try to do the dragons and the golem (around 15-25 ore). Even better would be to do the temples and karka queen. They give the most in game at the moment (usually around 30). And you can do temples again the same day with an ALT and get even more dragonite. Find a good server with a temple zerg and enjoy.
A past post by a dev indicated there were technical limitations as to why they could not add a second sigil slot to a 2 handed weapon.
A more recent post by a dev indicated that they wanted to look into giving 2 handed weapons a second sigil.
Maybe since they figured out how to give a 2 handed weapon 2 infusion slots, they figured out the technical problem that was holding them back initially.
This is at least on their radar. Whether or not it gets implemented or not remains to be seen.
I typically use the gear I find off of drops as I level up. That, and about every 20 levels I may buy some better (cheap) armor if I need it.
Do not spend much on armor/weapons until you hit 80 and you decide on your build. You will quickly out level any sub-80 armor or weapons while leveling.
There are plenty of cheap runes and sigils to use to boost you up a little while leveling and at the same time not drain your pockets.
And you can either salvage or vendor or TP the whites/blues/greens you accumulate while leveling. It is mostly a personal choice.
If you are crafting, there are very good guides available for that. Try gw2crafts.net. That is a pretty popular site.
Had this start happening as well. Very annoying.
I haven’t noticed any buffed rewards either.
A guildie of mine is trying to identify the following music. I believe he said it is ingame combat music. Can anyone help him out?
Happens a lot in Southsun for me. As well as other areas.
I’ll try to take note of the areas and post more.
This started about the time the OP stated.
This used to be a real issue back when servers where locked into their color based on their ranking. You would have lower population servers that were locked into one color and never move from that color for months.
Now that colors rotate for servers on a regular basis, it is not that hard to get map completion done. You just have to be patient, log in at the right times, and grab what you can when you can.
that is from the PvP side of the game.
Best Way to Make Gold by Far is Dungeons. In 5 days I made 50 gold.
Here are the dungeon runs I do. All of them are approximately 20 minutes or under with an average group.
HotW P1 – AC P1 – AC P3 – SE P1 – CoF P1 – CoF P2
Each of these paths give one gold each so in approximately an hour and a half you would be earning a guaranteed 6 gold plus all the materials you earn!
Hope I helped
Farming dungeons is a great way to earn gold atm. But I must disagree with it being the ‘best’ source of gold.
If you farm ori/ancient wood, you can earn ~4 gold (probably a little more right now) per toon for 20-30 minutes of gathering (full ori/ancient wood run on all 4 maps). Multiple level 80 toons means more money.
In an hour and a half, using 3 level 80 toons, I can make ~12 gold just by gathering ori/ancient wood. Not to mention any other material you gather or loot drops from mobs you kill.
Doing ori/ancient wood gathering runs followed up by dungeon runs is a GREAT way to make some bank really easily every day.
You lose all guild bonuses while guesting, including access to your guild bank I believe.
You also lose WvW bonuses while guesting.
Other than that, it is a great way to farm ori/ancient wood and to run world bosses/temples.
After researching last year to upgrade my computer, the consensus seemed to be get an I5. GW2, and a lot of other games it seems, runs better on Intel than AMD. And the extra cores with the AMD will not help much with GW2. I hear it is mainly a single thread application, which the I5 will run much better.
Its going to last 6 weeks this year instead of 3 weeks. Maybe they have a few surprises left in store for us?
I noticed this also.
6 weeks.
6 long weeks…..
Always best to use your own server if possible due to guild and WvW buffs on gathering.
But any will do.
Another vote for gw2nodes.com
If your server isn’t updated regularly, or if the route isn’t particularly favorable, just guest to another server.
-Doing Ori/Ancient wood runs on all 4 maps.
-Doing mid-tier wood/ore runs. These are easy to get and are fetchind a decent amount of coin.
-Doing dungeon runs daily. Plenty of easy paths.
-Champ farming Frostgorge Sound
-Playing the Trading Post
-World Boss zerg train
Most important thing is doing something that you actually enjoy.
I’ve personally become a glorified logger. Chopping down trees across Tyria to gain the gold necessary to purchase better armor for myself to protect me better while I’m out chopping down trees. Vicious cycle.
Yeah, kind of figured the new +5 AR infusion would be lost. The same way the old infusions were lost if upgraded.
The new item created should just have the infusion slot and it will be empty. This is unfortunate.
I’m not sure if the devs actually thought about this in advance or not. There is no easy way around it besides having a means to extract the infusion first.
Yeah, this is a really bad time to be buying materials to craft currently.
Ascended armor being released and everyone wanting to get to 500 in the armor professions will drive prices of raw material up.
And a lot of mid range materials are needed for the actual ascended weapon once they reach 500.
But anyways, weaponsmith and armorsmith are always two of the most expensive trades to level up to 400 (or 500). Gathering a lot of the materials yourself will save you a lot of money atm.
And T6 materials are pumped into the market by players who obtain a few and don’t need them and also from farmers and bots both. There used to be reliable ways to farm the T6 materials directly, but currently the best method is to just farm gold and buy them. You can always try some of the old farm spots, but they just are not as lucrative as they once were.
Champ farms produce a good little bit of T6 that is spread throughout the entire zerg. A majority of these players just sell for the $$.
I cry for all the altoholics out there.
I have four level 80 characters, and I don’t have as many as a lot of people I know.
Level up three different crafting professions to 500? Talk about expensive.
Craft 24 pieces of armor total for all my level 80s? Talk about grind.
Not looking forward to it.. at all.
I would be very happy just to log in and have mail in my mailbox:
NEWSFLASH: Citizens of Tyria, it has been confirmed that the villianous outlaw known as Scarlet has been killed by a vicious risen chicken. The accident took place in the Garden of Ilya and further details to come as they become known.
This bug has been around since fractal launch.
It used to really be a pain when I entered fractals with my MF gear still on, and when I tried to switch it to my zerker gear with AR it was a no go.
Only solution is to leave and return.
