I regularly guest to Tarnished Coast to run some temples. I have been busy over the past week and a half with real life stuff, but I doubt they have stopped doing the runs in that time.

Maybe the OP’s play time just doesn’t line up with the temple train.

What is your personal reward level?

That makes all the difference in the world. You can NOT do a Fractal above your personal reward level and expect to receive a higher level reward.

And the tiers used to be 1-9, 10-19, etc. Not sure if they have changed.

Accessories are not able to be inherently infused, and you could only place a +5AR infusion into them.

I believe you are mistaken about having +10 AR on an accessory as this is impossible.

I actually found your posts pretty informative and pretty insightful.

I agree that they intended ascended weapons to be time gated. Thus, the reason for the actual time gated materials and the reason for the high cost of materials to make.

I just disagree that ascended weapons were meant to be a big sink directly for the influx of materials that were introduced via the QJ.

But you have a very valid point that the influx of materials via the QJ affected prices of these materials on the TP. Indirectly, that would mean that players would not have to spend more for the materials they need and have a little extra gold to spend.

It just seems ANet created a big disparity in the player base by implementing the QJ farming like they did. If you farmed it, you were well ahead of the curve when ascended weapons were released. If you didn’t, you have to play catch up and try to farm all your gold/materials else where now.

In your case above, you got a tier 20-29 daily reward chest for your level 38 run.

Your subsequent run at level 28 should not have yielded an additional tier 20-29 daily chest.

You can ‘infuse’ a ring inherently (via the mystic forge) and then you could wear two of them because they are now two different ‘unique’ items.

“Red Ring of Death” and “Red Ring of Death (Infused)”

You can NOT just place an infusion into one of the rings and be able to wear both of them.

The loot that drops off a mob can pretty much either be tied to the mob’s level or your character’s level.

Meaning, if you are fighting champs in Queensdale the champ bags can be lower quality because of the champ’s level or they can be exotic quality because of your level.

This problem is avoided in Frostgorge because the mobs are already high level and drop exotic level bags under both circumstances.

^ That is correct.

The daily chest you received while doing a level 38 run was actually for your personal reward level of 28 and thus the tier 20-29 chest.

If you had started out at level 48, the rewards still would have been tied to your personal reward level of 28 and still a tier 20-29 chest.

There really is no reason to be doing a much higher fractal than your personal reward level as the rewards are set to the lower of your personal reward level or the fractal level.

A lot of people don’t understand this and attempt fractals higher than they should be thinking they will get better rewards.

Most of the resources that were/are needed for ascended crafting were not obtained during the QJ.

Sure, some extra T6 materials were dumped into the market which helped with crafting exotics. A lot of cores/lodestones were also pumped into the market which crashed their prices.

But the mass of mid tier wood/ore needed for ascended crafting? How were these markets pumped up during the QJ to the point where the market needed a new massive sink for these materials?

Vials, Globs, and Shards of mists essence all come from random drops within Fractals of the Mists.

If you are going to grind fractals a little for the drop, an ascended fractal capacitor will costs you 1850 fractal relics plus a vial of mists essence and 240 philosopher’s stones.

A cheaper alternative to the quiver if you want to grind a little.

Most of the spots in game that were good for farming T6 materials directly have been nerfed into the ground.

It currently is pretty difficult to farm the T6 directly. It is more efficient currently to try to farm gold from your favorite source and use the procedes to purchase T6.

And 500 gold for all the T6 is a pretty good ‘rough’ estimate on how much it would cost to get a stack of each T6. An average 25 silver per T6 yields 62 gold 50 silver per stack of T6. 8 stacks of T6 yields 500 gold.

That is just a rough estimate, if you had to buy them all. You will probably easily farm/acquire ~100 each of the T6 materials just through game play and making mystic clovers.

There are guides out there that point out the spots to farm T6, but like I said they are no longer as profitable as they once were. Drop rates have been nerfed and farming T6 directly is a waste of time.

Champ farming will yield you some gold per hour plus some random T6 materials from the champ bags.

I would farm ori/ancient wood every day. I did this on three toons, which would take ~1.5 hours max while yielding around 12-14 gold. I used these procedes to fund the purchase of 30-40 T6 at a time.

And ALWAYS put in buy orders for T6. At least save a few coppers is you can. It adds up.

Easy to make 100 gold a day if you are playing for a lot of hours each day!

Only way to do it ‘faster’ is by playing the Trading Post.

It’s not too hard to make 5-8 gold per hour. Your final total just depends on how long you play.

The Quip requires the gift of entertainment which requires 400 in armorsmithing to craft.

The only classes that can use a pistol are engineer, mesmer, and thief. None of these classes benefit directly by having armorsmithing leveled up.

Everyone’s playstyle differs and some lack dragonite due to their playstyle and others of us lack empyreal due to our playstyles.

It’s unfortunate, but all of us are ‘forced’ to do other aspects of the game to achieve obtain the necessary ascended crafting materials that we need.

I don’t run dungeons as much as I used to lately, so the 25 runs needs for just one ascended weapons is a little burdensome for me at times.

Currently, temples, Jormag, Shatterer, Tequatl, and Mark IV golem are all the best sources of dragonite. The other world bosses offer a lot less bang for the buck.

Unfortunately, it all comes down to they want us to do several different things in the game to get everything we need. Some do the world boss/temple circuit more and thus have more dragonite ore available to them while others run dungeons with their time and have plenty of empyreal fragments at their disposal. All part of their grand scheme to timegate everything.

Fractals is currently one of the two best sources for empyreal fragments, including dungeons, and thus I really would not support removing this method of acquisition.

I am, however, all in favor of more methods of obtaining all the ascended materials.

It is too easy to get dragonite ore as it is. Empyreal fragments are harder to get. Dungeons/Fractals are the main source of Empyreal. Don’t take one of them away.

The amount from Jumping puzzles and open world chests is laughable.

Dragonite ore is easily obtained by running a couple temples or world bosses. Guesting is your friend here.

this moronic mentality that everybody is a winner even if they lose is wrong !

Perhaps you should drop the mentality that you deserve more than other players who have accomplished the same things. You aren’t better than players on evey other server just because you play the same game with more people than we do.

I just hope ANet doesn’t kick all those hardy players on lower population servers by treating them like dirt in the rewards department. They should not be punished for sticking it out on a lower population server.

They are doing more for WvW by sticking it out and trying to make the matches better than all those that flee for the T1 blobs ever do.

The ori nodes spawn quite often in the jumping puzzle. The entrance is near the waterfall. You can not get to it from the very bottom of the water fall, so you have to ‘fall’ down to it.

There is often an Ori node in the water of the JP and one up near the end of it.

You can always guest to another server for your Ori runs if these two are hard to reach.

The T6 materials along will cost you ~500 gold. Just a rough estimate. Probably another 150-200 gold for stacks of ecto. You will need a full stack of 250 ectos plus ~233 extra or so for mystic clovers.

Always do your mystic clovers first, as they will yield a lot of T6 materials when you ‘fail’ to produce a clover.

Also, sell all those lodestones/cores that you do not need. Find the recipe for your legendary and keep the ones you do need. Liquidate the rest of your valuable items also.

You can make a small fortune by just selling stacks of junk like crafting materials.

It’s up to you if you want to wait out precursor crafting or not. Sounds like you still have a little ways to go.

World Vs World Problem In need of advice.

This problem was not caused by the Seasons achievements. It has been around since launch.

The ‘color’ of your server does rotate quite often now. Just wait around until a week where your server has the color you need and grab the points you need.

The color rotation hasn’t been that great during Season 1 of WvW, but if you are patient your server will eventually be red, blue, and green.

This was a bigger problem early in the game when the servers didn’t rotate colors. Color was based on your performance. If you were on a low population server that didn’t do well, you were always stuck in the same color.

I always trait out ’Warrior’s Sprint’ on my warrior because speed is that important to me personally.

My personal preference is Axe/Mace with a Longbow as a ranged backup weapon. But this is not the current meta or the flavor of the month so take it with a grain of salt.

I find running a lot of signets for solo PvE content the way to go for me personally, but if you ever do dungeons or group content you will probably want to change up and grab at least one banner along with FGJ for the group buffs.

Very interesting interview which goes over several topics which are discussed daily in this forum.

Some bullet points.

1. Attempts at monopolies/manipulation do occur, but are rarely successful/profitable.
2. Insider trading suspected, actions being planned.
3. Queen’s Jubilee really gave players lots of resources, ascended weapons a very good sink for them.

My big problem with this is, not everyone farmed the Queen’s Jubliee. Those that did, made a lot of $$ and resources. Those that didn’t just continued to make the average amount of resources/$$ during the game time.

Now, we have a big gold/resource sink in ascended weapons that is meant to drain the market that was pumped up from the Queen’s Jubilee.

Anyone who didn’t farm the Queen’s Jubilee is now left at a severe disadvantage and has to contend with this huge gold sink that is left in the game.

The need for a gold sink after introducing such a lucrative farm into the game was needed, but it is definately affecting anyone who did not farm this LS release.

It seems ANet is going off the theory that everyone farmed the event and everyone has a lot of resources/$$. This is simply not true.

The problem is now these world bosses, quite often, take too long to kill, scale pretty poorly, and don’t give enough rewards for the time invested in comparison to other activities in game.

Before the Tequatl update, they were fairly easy, didn’t require a lot of time to get an ok reward, and thus were a regular circuit for a lot of players.

I don’t want to spend 10 minutes killing the frozen maw just for a rare and some junk. Many others feel this way too.

The world boss circuit is just too time consuming with the changes and no longer that great of a choice for spending your time in game.

But more recent conversations by devs have indicated they are again looking into the issue.

They definately imply that this chest is account bound once daily. Which really sucks for those out there that liked to get multiple chests across ALTs.

Though that leaves room to speculate whether or not they mean just one daily chest per account per day or one daily chest per account per tier per day.

When you infused your back piece for the extra +5AR, you did so because you needed/wanted the extra AR to advance in fractals. And this was one of the few ways to do so.

You knew at that time that eventually new ways to get AR would come out. The addition of ascended weapons led to an easier/cheaper source of +5AR than infusing a back piece. The future release of ascended armor will do the same.

You will not be losing your +5AR, and if obtaining a new +5AR infusion ends up being cheaper than what it cost you initially than that is the cost of being an early adopter.

You missed the point. If you read the op, you’ll see that people were unclear what was happening with the infusions slots. And early adopter?? Do you realize how long those recipes have been available? Since the beginning of fractals…

I’m pretty sure they introduced these recipes when they introduced fractals last November. And it was not a secret, they did announce early on that there will be more ways to obtain AR in the future. They’ve just taken their sweet time with it.

I see your point, but I just see things differently. I don’t see as how you are necessarily being ‘punished’ if you are not losing anything in this deal. Just because something becomes cheaper to obtain later on doesn’t mean you are being punished.

New Rune in Fractal Update

Honestly, with no fixes to basic engineer issues like hobosacks and legendary weapon issues and the addition of this new rune, I feel like this is a big middle finger to the engineers out there.

What legendary weapon issues?

Most likely in reference to no kit %increase when using a legendary.

Well, that’s largely because all bundles in this game have their own damage values. The same goes for Elementalists conjure weapons. Don’t really see the big deal. Bomb Kit and Grenade Kit compete just fine in the damage department, and they still take the increased Power, Precision, etc.—just not the Weapon Strength.

Legendaries are still very much worth getting as an Engineer, simply because you can change the stats of them at any given time.

There are two big issues with legendaries and Engies. The already mentioned no increase in kit damage with a legendary/ascended weapon equipped. I’m well aware of base kit damages but what is the point for an engie to get an ascended/legendary weapon if they are going to mainly be in a kit that isn’t affected by the increase in stats? And no, we are not alone in this plight.

And the issue with legendary effects while in kits. This is not as subtle of an issue to fix, but it is an issue. In a game where cosmetics are everything end game, the engineer community gets the shaft because the majority of engineers are in kits the majority of the time.

Personally, since kits are our ‘weapons’ of trade I don’t see why they don’t just treat them as another weapon set and come out with legendary kits. Legendary flame thrower. Legendary elixer gun. It’s just as easy as making another legendary weapon.

Just because you are ok with the issues that exists with engineers and legendaries doesn’t mean there isn’t still problems that should be addressed.

And I’ve got both Quip and Frenzy on my engie. I’m happy with them both. But the issues are still there and should be addressed.

And it’s sad that while Frenzy is so beautiful, you are much better off from a DPS stand point to switch to a kit like elixer gun or grenades to do more damage. That is just a sign of the sad state of base weapon damage of this class.

I don’t believe anyone used a true ‘exploit’ to get to 80. ANet certainly didn’t intend for the player base to be able to reach this high of a fractal level and a dev has said that much.

Some players are just very ingenious and use creativity to be able to get further than what is intended. These tactics are very creative, but they were not abusing or glitching aspects of the game for progress so they were not exploiting.

Just a quick question: if one of my characters has a fractal level 70+, and the one I’m trying to make my “new main” – 25 – am I going to have an account-wide fractal level of 30 on all the characters, including the “new main”?

The new account wide personal reward level should be the your current highest personal reward level.

In your case, the new account wide personal reward level should be 30.

So ascended backpacks will get +5 ar. But whats with the people who already infused their backpacks. Will the 250 ectos be in vain? That would be 750 ectos for me

I literally just created an Infused Quiver of a Thousand Arrows. Are they removing its inherent +5 AR? This is such a dumb bish move if they do.

You will still have the +5 AR. It will just automatically fill the AR infusion slot they’re adding like what the preview stated.

So what you’re saying essentially is that everyone after me gets to simply place a +5 AR infusion to achieve the same stats as my Infused Bow…without contributing the 250 ectos to do it. Correct? And this seems acceptable to you?

I understand your pain here.

But in reality, those with inherently infused back pieces and rings are not losing anything. The +5 inherent AR is being move to the new AR infusion slot. That slot will be initially populated with a +5 AR infusion for those that had inherently infused items and that slot will be empty for those that did not.

Yes, you paid a lot for that extra +5 AR when you got it. Yes, it will now be pretty cheap for the next guy to gain that +5 AR in comparison. Yes, I can feel your pain.

But nothing has been taken away or lost.

This game keeps getting dumbed down. They removed all incentive to go beyond level 10.
I got myself to higher level fractals to get the exclusive skins. That was part of their appeal, they were exclusive to running harder content and thus made the skins rarer. Now anybody running 10 can get the same thing.

I agree they should have added gold and whatever to entice people to do fractals, but the skins should have been bumped to requiring 30+ to get them as incentive to do harder ones. The useless tonic and a rune/sigil I will never use is a joke reward for doing harder content. They’re handing out more doing less.

As with most of their new content increased challenge = increased % at loot. Sure you can stay at level 10 and hope for a chance at good loot. Or level up your fractal level for increased loot chance.

They have always said that higher level fractals increases your chance at better loot.

There are those of us that say that is not true as we have played enough fractals to know that the ‘increased’ rewards at higher level fractals are not worth the risk. And I’m sorry, but I just still don’t believe they have revamped the rewards to justify the increased risk.

The only real reason to run higher fractals were fractal skins. And now those are obtainable at level 10.

With the fractal skins dropping from level 10 daily chests now, I have a feeling these skins will no longer be as rare and elite as they currently are.

Though, with RNG and the account bound daily chests, the chance you actually get a skin and it’s the one you want are still about nil.

These new fractals will be variations of the initial release dungeons (most likely).

Shortened up and tweaked for time constraints and difficulty to fit the fractal of the mist format.

I’m just trying to say that the dungeons you meet now are very likely not going to be the same ones we received with the initial LS release.
