Guesting should be from higher population to lower population server.

I hate guests in Desolation Sparkfly. Don’t come to Desolation. Take all guests with you and go kill your beloved dragon in Vabbi or some other less populated servers. If you really wanna kill your dragon in Desolation, pay your money/gold for a transfer. Then, curse guests with us ^^

Problem just gets worse. Only now you get more and more overflows just because of your own server population. Not because of guests.

The world boss train on my lower population server causes overflows on maps most nights of the week now. And the vast majority of those players in the train are not guests, but people from my server.

There is so much in this game contributing to the reason beserker gear is favored over all others. And it really isn’t the gear’s fault.

They had a pretty simple fix to the hobo-sack issue a while back.

Why not little icons like elementalists have instead of the big, ugly hobo-sacks?

They nerf builds all the time. This causes players to have to regear all the time.

This time will be no different.

Past players were not compensated or allowed to re-stat their gear when their builds were nerfed. Neither should zerkers.

And a zerker nerf is not the same scenario as the MF removal. A whole stat was removed which necessitated the one time stat change.

Zerker gear isn’t the problem either. It really is the content and other issues with the game that make zerker gear so desirable.

The Bazaar was a big hit with most players. No reason to wait a full year to bring back that event as it is not a holiday.

I could see it coming around twice a year easily.

With only LS updates until march 4th and an announced break after that as well as a focussed content update after it, i dont see the Zephyrites making another appearance before 1 year after their first appearance and Dragon Bash coming along for the second time.

Sadly, I believe you may be correct.

You only get rewards from each type of guild mission once per week. Once for bounty, rush, challenge, and puzzle each.

The week starts on Saturday so part of your issue may be related to doing the same guild mission, guild bounty, twice in one week. This would explain why some did not receive a chest from the bounty.

You should be able to run rush, bounty, challenge, and puzzle at any time during the week, even multiple times, but guild members can only claim the reward chest once per week and you can only get guild merits once per week per event type.

Actually, I think the price is listed as 2880 and 1600 is the 44% off price (at least the nearest 100).

It looks like 2000, but if you look closely the regular price is actually 2880.

Recent interviews with Colin have said that they are working on at least two big things behind the scenes in addition to the LS.

Does this mean that it is CONFIRMED that they are finally going to fix the issue of hobo-sacks?!

Nope in Hard Capping if you dc you most likely will not be able to join your party or main map unless you get the spot of someone else that dc’s in the meantime.

Happened to me before in the middle of killin Teq I dcd and got stuck in overflow and receive no acknowledgement for the part i fought.

I can confirm this. DCed during Tequatl before myself and ended up in overflow with no way to return to the main map (even trying to rejoin party) and no rewards.

Happened to me at Jormag and Shatterer also before.

Unfortunate, but I’ve learned to live with it.

Well if this was the case, it would defeat the whole purpose behind guesting wouldn’kitten Essentially this would break the guesting system.

What a lot of people don’t realize, you can have your own server’s population cause overflows very easily too. It’s just not the guesters causing this.

Those ‘guesters’ only have a few hours to play also.

Should they be punished for being on a server that does not have the manpower or organizational skills to defeat Tequatl?

They have just as much right to do that event as anyone else. Their time is just as valuable as yours.

It may be “your” server, but that doesn’t give you exclusive rights or preferential treatment for the events that occur on it.

I still can not get the superior sigils out of my weapons.

Sure, I could buy transmutation stones or upgrade extractors, but the costs of those is more than buying a new sigil. Besides, I really shouldn’t HAVE to take this route.

I would have expected something better and when they implement a new World Boss, that it is really something completely new.

Bloodtide Coast is a good place for the patch ,the place has alot of water and could have been used for givign the game more underwater content, like an Underwater World Boss, something cool, like the Kraken for example, which would have been a thousand times better, than just another silly wurm

I agree. This would have been an excellent opportunity to give us an underwater world boss and some more underwater content finally.

But alas, this aspect of the game, it appears, is once again going to be ignored.

I think it’s worthless.

It’s not even convenient!

There are several nodes, let alone rich ore nodes across the world that actually have set spawns that would give you more value if you WP’d to them.

This gem store item is just as irrelevant as Swim Boosters.

Yeah, when I first saw that they were releasing the swim boosters at the same time they were heading back to Southsun I was excited. I was anticipating some more underwater action.

I was let down and those Swim Boosters are about as useful as a ruined ore chunk.

Honestly, if all the expansion really brings is a lot more of the same that we have had for the past year then they will not be getting my business.

hey I know you! Yeah I get what you mean about zerg fest content we’ve seen recently, however id wager that an expansion will likely have several more dungeons, events and other such features that have not been delivered as much in the LS updates. time will tell though

They’d have to bring some new content like that to keep me, and probably several others, interested. Bring some new dungeons. Bring a new explorable map or two. Bring some new events. Bring a new playble class and/or race.

And it really isn’t the fact that zerg fests are a bad concept, it’s just the game can’t really handle them. Their servers can’t handle the load and skill lag and FPS drops are the norm during these zerg events. It’s not really fun watching a choppy zerg and not being able to use any skills. Not to mention zergs compound underlying problems with the game, like condition stacking.

Grind out some fractal levels for yourself. With or without your friend’s help. It really won’t take you that long if you are as good as you say. I know it is tedious, but all of us had to do it. It’s part of the price you have to pay.

And while you may be good enough to do a level 23 fractal while still at level 12, there are many more that aren’t. Not everyone is the same and some can handle it, but level 23 is very different in terms of difficulty than level 12. And I’ve pugged enough to know that the majority of ‘average’ pugs can’t handle that increase in difficulty. For the average player, I’d suggest not going much more than 5-6 levels above your current personal reward level while running. Your results may vary.

I drop down and do lower level fractal runs all the time. Mainly to help out guild mates level up.

And the current system is much better than the initial implementation. Allowing players to group up with higher level fractal groups allows players to more easily and faster find groups to play with. The initial implementation only allowed the party to enter the fractals with the highest attained reward level of everyone. Meaning a player with a level 12 fractal reward level trying to join a party for a level 23 fractal would cause the run to be a level 12 run. The current system allows friends to party up with lower level players who can handle the content and allow them to level up their personal reward level more easily.

Wow, that’s some good drop rate there for you. Wish the rest of us were that lucky.

Last 16 chests, not 1 scrap. Still farming keys occasionally so I’ll see how long it takes to get the remaining 4 scraps I need.

Thanks for the link Vol. Interesting read.

While they try to claim a big part of the reason for the time gating is to keep the gap between casuals and hardcore players small I believe the real truth lied in these two facts that were brought up:

•Exploits (Many time gates are there to avoid exploits)
•Overflow issues (the way our tech works without a time gate, you can use overflows to reset your timer)

It’s probably just the best way they can come up with to combat some of these issues instead of coming up with a better solution.

And these statements:

“This is why we create places for people to farm for all types of things. We like people who farm a lot, we are just always trying to make sure farming doesn’t blow out an item so much it’s no longer worth farming as it sort of defeats the whole reason to farm.”

Those really made me chuckle. This is off topic for this post, but I don’t see how they are creating places for people to farm or encouraging farming at all. Just the opposite. There really is not good spot to farm T6 materials any more. Any where that dropped them have been heavily nerfed.

I don’t agree with this.

You should not be doing a fractal that much higher than your personal reward level, imho. Unless you are experienced, in which case your reward level would be higher, you probably can not handle the higher level fractal and will be a burden to your team more times than not.

And while your end rewards will be lower because of your personal rewards level (which we all know is BS because these rewards suck and are about the same at all levels it seems), you still get the benefit of the loot from those mobs at the higher levels.

The best option for you to play with your friends is to grind out a few more fractal levels and catch up to your friends.

You should see more blues/greens with a higher MF than whites. A little more higher tier crafting materials too.

Other than that, you will not be swimming in rares and exotics. You may see a little more, but not very noticeable.

Where you really notice is the number of blues/greens/crafting materials (T6 vs T5).

This is mainly from a PvE perspective, but I’m sure it is probably the same in WvW.

This is always a danger when you choose a very high populated server as your home. You always run the risk of overflows, even from just your own server’s population, on maps.

Every server has great guilds and you should be able to eventually find a good match for you.

As far as a server choice, do you intend to play WvW? This is a big question.

If yes, do you want to play on a higher tier server or lower tier server? Higher tier servers generally have more players on the battlefield but this comes with a price of longer queues to enter the maps. Lower tier servers still have great fights, but the zergs usually aren’t as big and the queues are shorter to non-existant on many servers. The choice really depends on which would suit you better.

As far as PvE, you can guest to 2 other servers each 24 hours. So you are not as locked in to your home server as you are with WvW.

Again, with PvE some of the higher populated servers can get a lot of players on maps and this will create overflows. This often happens when trying to take down a world boss or a temple. This can happen with the lower population servers as well, but seems to be less of an issue.

Do I really need to level to 80? I mainly PvP

If you are not going to play PvE or WvW, then there is no point in leveling your characters. This will not benefit you if you are only playing PvP.

You can guest to 2 different servers per 24 hour period. It is a great way to play PvE without having to transfer.

The only reason I see to transfer any more is if you want to switch servers for WvW.

Unless you have a bunch of friends on another server, but you can still guest over there and play with them.

I can 100% verify that you can have a personal guild bank and guest to another server and retain your guild bank. You just won’t be able to access the guild bank while guesting.

If you join the World Boss train, Dragonite Ore builds up fairly quickly. I used to have very little Dragonite Ore, then I farmed the Karka Queen something fierce while hunting for the Settler’s Gossamer Insignia recipe, and ended up with well over 1000 Dragonite Ore as a result.

That said, I agree that we really need a Mystic Forge recipe to convert excess Ascended mats of one type to another.

Wow, did you have that bad of a luck with the Settler’s Gossamer Insignia recipe dropping for you? I’ve ended up with a small stack of those recipes and a small stack of the Settler’s Orichalcum Imbued Inscription recipes. They seem to have a pretty good drop rate, at least within my group of friends.

I cringe every time I see a recipe drop from her any more. About as useful as another ascended ring drop from fractals.

The problem isn’t that the TP isn’t working or that it is a poor model, the problem is that every aspect of the game now requires you to farm gold and use the TP. You can’t reasonably play the game to get your goals now, you need to just farm gold and buy them off the TP.

In the first few months of the game you could reasonably find farming spots and collect the mats you needed for a legendary or rare skin. Each mat had a different location, and it took a week or two of farming for each mat. Doing that now would take 100x longer minimum.

This really is the core problem with the game. Not the TP itself.

The inflation is worse than ever…

People get so fixated on this, like inflation is a big bag monster destroying lives. It’s not. Since there seems to be a fixation with credentials, I’ll reference a prominent economics blogger – Matt Yglesias.

Inflation is only a major problem when prices go up but incomes don’t, as people can afford less. In GW2 this is not the case. Prices for many things have risen because players generate more gold than they used to, from doing things like dungeon runs and champ farms.

Inflation reduces the value of gold, so it is most damaging to players that are holding large amounts of gold. In that respect, the super-rich in this game have much more to worry about from high inflation because their “wealth” is constantly being eroded.

For many, the prices have gone up but their incomes have not.

I make way less gold per hour playing the game than I used to. And that gold buys far less than it used to. That is inflation.

Unless you farmed the zerg LS events like QL and the Scarlet Invasion, you didn’t see a big influx of cash. If you aren’t farming any zerg chains now like world bosses or champ trains, you aren’t seeing a big influx of cash.

If you are just playing different aspects of the game and not running with a zerg or TP trading, the value of your gold has dropped drastically.

That one has a defensive infusion slot. The quiver has an offensive infusion slot.

Those are your only two options. They previously contained magic find which was removed from the gain. Thus, the ability to select new stats.

I simply don’t have the time to do ascended gear and what time I have to play I don’t want to spend it grinding champ farms or repeatedly running the same stuff over and over and over again.

Thanks for the replies guys. Looking at the cost of the research levels, I think I’ve added it correctly… it seems that a 50 slot stash costs:
Guild Cost: 1 silver
Research Architecture Level 1: 500 influence (1 gold)
Research Architecture Level 2: 1000 influence (2 gold)
Guild Stash: 1000 influence (2 gold)
Total 5 gold 1 silver.

I was hoping for a place to store all the stacks of dragonite, empyreal and bloodstone dust I’ve got filling up my regular bags… but of course…. it is all account bound, so can’t go into a guild anyway. Shame.

Your calculations are correct. It will cost 5g 1s to create a 50 slot personal guild bank. Only draw back is that it will not accept account bound items, as others have noted.

A great place to store crafting materials and such. And much cheaper than a bank slot.

Mule characters are also a great option if you don’t already have all your character slots full.

Ascended weapons/armor can drop from anywhere that ascended crafting materials can drop. Like champ bags, world boss chests, WvW.

But the drop rate is really, REALLY low. Do not count on it.

Your toon will do just fine in WvW, dungeons, and world bosses decked out in all exotics. Don’t let not having ascended gear stop you from enjoying yourself.

I log into a game to have fun and enjoy the atmosphere while trying to escape the problems and issues in real life.

When the economy in game makes me feel as bad as the economy in real life makes me feel, there is a problem.

Huge gold sinks were created to offset the influx of materials/gold introduced by a few farming events. If you didn’t farm those events, you are left out in the cold.

Nerfs to every farming spot out there has left the game in a state where you can’t just pick up and spend some extra time to catch up. You get way too little for your efforts. Reminds me of real life. Sadly.

But I am to be led to believe that there is no hint of any type of inflation going on in this game?
