Although I too wish they explained things more, I disagree with the other point you’re making.

Why should Eles and Engies get ascended level damage for free, when all other classes have to get an ascended weapon to do that damage? I thought people wanted Anet to make Engie’s weapons more desirable so they weren’t forced to use packs. Your idea would increase the imbalance.

I have a Meteorlogicus on my ele. Why should I lose 5% damage on my Lightning Hammer because someone else doesn’t have a legendary?

I could say the same thing if I had a legendary on my engineer, but that’d just be stupid because I just wear the hobo sack 90% of the time.

Engineer weapons are simply not designed to be strong and their balance patch from June shows that they still don’t have a clue. For example, they changed Scope in the tools traitline to gain 10% crit chance when further than 600 range. You think it’d be good on a rifle, but its near useless. All the rifle skills except for net shot (0 damage) and the auto attack (which is weak) are melee range. The irony is that scope is near useless with rifle and only really works with…. grenades.

Just because you have a Legendary weapon, doesn’t mean you get a free 5% damage.

A Legendary weapon doesn’t entitle you to 5%, 10%, 20% or any % extra damage. Your Legendary weapon is for cosmetic looks and bragging rights only.

A legendary entitles him to ascended level stats.

Engineers and elementalists with legendary or ascended weapons should get the benefit of the additional stats.

Isn’t Legendary/Ascended stat levels meant only for the Legendary weapon itself? Otherwise, wouldn’t be unfair for people to have multiple weapons being upgraded because of the ownership of a stronger one?

“The Engineer is a highly versatile class. While it doesn’t have the long range capabilities of the Ranger, or the melee capabilities of the Warrior or Guardian, they are comfortable at medium ranges in most fights. They have a lot of control, and use their boons to keep themselves (and allies) alive in a fight. They can use different kits based on the situation, but this extreme versatility comes at a cost in damage on their main hand weapons.

Engies, in particular, are already taxed damage wise on their weapons because of kits. Engie and kits are a special case and different from another toon with two weapon sets.

Damage from our main weapons is already lessened. No reason to impose another tax on kits and not have them scale properly.

There are lots of easy, fast paths to run.

COF P1,P2
HOTW P1
SE P1,P3
TA U,FF
AC P1,P3
COE P1,P2,P3

Others are arguable just as easy and fast. TA F/U is currently a nightmare at the last boss. SE P2 is long and buggy. CM is a real nightmare for those who don’t grasp the concept (me included, though I hear bringing reflections is key). HOTW paths are easy, but the bosses are HP sponges making for longer runs. Arah is Arah.

There has been no communcation about these issues because they don’t plan to spend the resources on such a small percentage of the game population.

See there recent comments concerning Charr armor (during PAX coverage) for an intimate look into their mentality.

Charrs are 13% of the population and don’t warrant any resources to fix their issue, so engineers and their small 10% of the population surely won’t warrant any type of attention.

Advertise the change one way, implement it another, then go back and change the notes on how the change was supposed to be.

Have you recognized, they changed the patch notes afterwards:

Weapons, armor, and trinkets that had a magic find stat combo have been flagged as account bound and Soulbind on Use. These items will now allow double-clicking to permanently change the stat combo. Items that were already Soulbound to a character will continue to be bound to that character. This is a one-time ability, and the options are dependent on where the item was acquired. All trading post listings for these items have been cancelled and the items returned to the poster.

This is not what you have said all the weeks before the patch Anet! Won’t believe you anymore and won’t pay you anymore. Such a behavior is not worth spending a cent on.

They were not very clear about this issue, but I believe the 300% MF cap was intended to be for account bound MF. Not your entire MF.

I could be wrong though.

So you lost 4% Magic Find from 1 item, and you were given 20% Magic Find for your whole ACCOUNT as REPLACEMENT. If you say the stats on the item are bad now, just note that they are exactly the same as the stats you were running with before.

I have Celestial Sigil, Ancient Mursaat Token, Triforge Pendant, Lunaria and Solaria. That’s 4% Magic Find removed from each, I was given 20% Account-Wide Magic Find. I break even(Math: 5 × 4% = 20%), you on the other hand, got extra free Magic Find because you only have two Celestial Accessories.

Stop contradicting yourself, Math 101 this way.

Everyone was given that 20%, it was not a replacement for the loss of MF, it was a gift to everyone, even those who never had MF at all. He did indeed lose something (the MF and the reason for having bought those specific trinkets).
Or the matter could be seen as a replacement for him (and all the other MF users) and as a gift to everyone else (and even in this case he did lose the gift given to everyone else).

So your concept is, if someone owes me 5 cookies, and comes to the party with a huge truck of cookies and gives 5 cookies to everyone including me, he has not repaid his debt towards me at all?

If that’s what you are implying, then that is extremely selfish. I consider that he repaid me the cookies and out of pure kindness, he shared 5 cookies to everyone else in the party.

Now, if he owed me 5 cookies but gave cookies to everyone except for me, then I would have reason to be angry.

So, the 20% MF worth of Essences of Luck given to previous owners of MF gear was compensation, but the 20% MF worth of Essences of Luck given to everyone else was just a gift?

Seems fair.

I like the way they implemented it. At least it will be something that I am capable of using.

The only weapon I could not possibly find any use for is the Torch, all other weapons can at least fill some role in any of my only 4 lvl 80 characters and 2 upcoming ones. They wouldn’t be very useful, like Rifle or Longbow, but at least they’d have the right stats.

If the stats are wrong, I wouldn’t possibly use it on any character, because a Cleric’s ascended greatsword is still infinitely more useless than a Berserker one.

So yes, I’d rather have an undesirable weapon than an undesirable stat, because the undesirable stat would simply be insta-salvaged, and never used, ever. At least an undesirable weapon can still fill up some function.

I see your point.

But maining an Engie, I’d much rather have a weapon choice because almost every weapon out there would be useless to me save a few.

I would run near 300% MF before this update. Ran well over 300% during the Southsun event.

I wasn’t trying to say MF does not work. I was just simply trying to say I wouldn’t expect a huge influx of precursors because of it.

MF is worthwhile and affects a lot of smaller things more than it affects exotic drops. This adds up over time to a lot of $$.

Running that high of a MF does not make it rain rares or exotics contrary to whatever anyone else may lead you to believe. I ran high MF long enough to know that exotics are still pretty darn hard to come by with 300% MF.

Honestly, I think with people throwing less exotics and rares into the forge (salvaging for ascended crafting materials for ascended weapons) you may see a possible decline in the number of precursors on the market. Just a WAG though.

OP, the very least you should have is 20% not 4%, because you were sent consumables via in game mail to bring up up to 20%. This more than compensates for those specific stats.

As time goes on, and you do dailies and salvage blues and greens it’ll go much higher. It’s a small investment for a realtively short time, unless you don’t play at all.

Hate to call you out personally, but I am sick of seeing this on the forums.

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, was given enough essence of luck to get them around 20% extra account bound MF to start.

How in any way, shape, or form is this compensation for me losing my MF gear? The guy standing next to me in LA who didn’t lose anything because he didn’t use MF gear got the exact same bonus.

This 20% MF boost to start is NOT a compensation to people who have lost anything due to the MF changes. It was a gift to all the player base.

People who had MF gear were given NO form of compensation whatsoever.

ANet has kicked its playerbase around so often, they have gotten used to being pushed around and abused. The playerbase has acclimated itself to the abuse and excuses and has just accepted it. We the playerbase even start making excuses for ANet.

After investigation by our programmers, they have determined that the fix to this issue would be too risky and could end up making the situation worse than it is. Unfortunately, this means that we’re not able to make changes to correct the issue. We’re sorry about this and we will be implementing ways to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future.

After having my time wasted already, I will not be attempting to work towards this monthly again until such time as ANet has announced they have implemented something to prevent this from happening again in the future.

I will not waste my time doing this monthly again, only to have my efforts wiped out the next day because ANet has not put anything in place to prevent this from happening.

Bad argument. You’re assuming that if farming was not as profitable, those players would have helped you win the event. It’s very likely they would have not even participated — champ farming in Frostgorge instead. You’d be fighting minions by yourself anyway.

The champ farming did not cause you to lose the event. There event simply isn’t compelling enough for people to want to win it.

I must strongly disagree… The events are actually significantly easier with less people doing them, seeing as how they scale quite hard to the number of players.
I recall one particular instance where I cleared a complete aetherblade event, including champ captain, with just one other random player aside from myself. Having those zergs running around upscales the events so hard that they take much more time. Thus indeed impeding the progress of the total event.
TLDR: Yes, the farmers wouldn’t bother coming, but that would aid the event progress rather than hindering it.

My only issue with your argument is that the farmers were not running around everywhere, upscaling all the events. They would stick to an aetherblade event and farm it until gone and then move on to the next one.

In theory, this would mean less people doing the minion or molten events and thus they would be scaled way down and easier. So smaller groups of people wanting to complete the event should have been able to do so more easily.

While the smaller groups who wanted to complete the event finished the minion/molten events, the aetherblade events would get polished off by the farmers.

Like you mention, if all these farmers had dispersed and helped with all the other events, the events themselves would have scaled up and the invasion would have probably actually taken longer.

Selected stats on a Snaff’s Gyre last night. Beserker stats.

I then through it in the MF to infuse.

I got a Snaff’s Gyre (Infused) out of the MF. I was then able to select stats again.

Not sure if they will ever take these recipes out of the MF, but for now you can still infuse them.

They have never considered the Megadestroyer a world boss. The Megadestroyer does not give a daily world boss chest either.

The Mark IV Golem however does.

This issue was brought to their attention when daily reward chests were first introduced for world bosses. Since they have elected not to do anything about it, I suppose they will not change it.

Sad because this fight and boss are pretty epic and really deserve it.

The MF shown in the achievements tab is account bound MF and does not include your infusion. The 24% includes the bonus you got from the boosters.

The MF shown on the ’H’ero tab includes all MF sources.

I took a MF ascended ring (Snaff’s Gyre) last night (uninfused) and chose some zerker stats for it.

I then threw it into the MF to infuse it.

I got the infused version (Snaff’s Gyre (Infused)) out and was allowed to choose new stats once again. The recipe to infuse the rings are still there and active (as of last night).

I was able to once again place beserker stats on this infused ring.

A simple way to currently equip to offensive infusion slotted ascended rings.

Increased MF will not help with precursor drops.

Trust me, with a very high MF before the patch, exotics and rares were not raining from the sky. Just an increase in blue/greens and higher level crafting materials (T5 instead of T4 for example).

Besides, most of the player base whined about MF and about how useless it was. That is why they removed it in the first place. Not sure how rewarding them with an extra free 20% MF made sense, but who really cares.

Don’t over estimate the value of MF.

I am really curious how the ‘average’ player can handle these zerg-fests that ANet has been putting in the game lately. The crown pavilion and invasions were designed to be zerg fests. The champ trains. The new tequatl requiring 80+ people.

I have a pretty decent computer, not the highest end machine. But my machine still struggles during things like ‘Kill Scarlet’ with around 100 people on screen.

How can people with computer specs less than mine be enjoying this type of gameplay?

Sure, some may turn down their graphic setting a lot to handle the load. But in such a beautifully designed game, that is really a bad solution to the problem.

Solo farming has been pushed out and discouraged while the huge zerg-fest farming is in season.

My desire to play this game is currently at an all time low. One good thing, at least for my honey-do list, is that is making it easier to just turn the game off and walk away.

If you had used the ones from the mail, your MF would have increased by about 20%.

Make sure you are on the character that the mail came in on.

If it is not shaded the game thinks you have not completed it.

Have you attempted to go back to it and interact with it again? Without being interupted with combat or anything?

Other than that, I have no other suggestions.

The Tonn’s Flanged Mace (new ascended weapon) referenced in this post has an incorrect description of Demolitionist Tonn.

He is described as a charr engineer while he should have been described as an asuran engineer.

How dare our honorable brother be mistaken for a filthy cat!

I see no reason to get any ascendend/legendary weapon on engineer because of this stupid “hotfix”. Translation of the hotfix: All classes damage gets buffed excluding engineer because we don’t like him.

There is very little reason to get an ascended weapon or a legendary for an Engie at this point. Especially if you are in kits the majority of the time.

The best part of a thief having these is that it no longer broadcasts your class. If you approach an Engineer with dual pistols you are going to enter that fight a lot differently than if you approach a Thief, now that thieves are no longer broadcasting that they are a thief because of the signet, they can catch you unprepared.

A little off topic, but this is amusing because the reason Engie’s can’t get a fix to their hobo-sack issue is because everyone claims that we need to be able to see the hobo-sack to determine what class and what kit they are in. Now, we can’t have an Engie with a flamethrower being mistaken for an Engie with the Elixer gun, but mistaking a Thief for an Engie is OK. lol

Level with cooking? It’s still 400. btw you can scroll to 20 now as well. Not sure when they will offer it for gems yet though. I have one, but I guess saving it until they make a 9th class since I already have the rest done.

I believe all the professions have had their xp amounts adjusted already, regardless of whether or not the max crafting level is 400 or 500. I have not verified this though.

You indeed now lose out on 3 levels when crafting to 400 on the various crafts. I understand the frustration, but 3 levels isn’t that hard to do. One dungeon path = 70% of a level. Four dungeon paths = 3 levels (with the additional xp from kills).

But honestly, every action ANet has taken lately seems to be ALT unfriendly. Kind of mind boggling considering extra character slots costs gems which equates to dollars for them.

So what is your excuse this time?

Legendaries aren’t visible in kits.
No glow, no footfalls, no effects except grenade barrage if you’re specced 30 points in power with appropriate grenade trait.

Why is that even supposed something to be fixed? You put your weapon away and wield another item. Why should it aquire traits of the legendary? Seems reasonable the way it is to me. And before you jump to conclusions: My main is an engineer since the game started.

Valid point. But why hasn’t ANet addressed this issue? If you switch weapons on another character, you lose all effects and traits of your legendary. So why not the same when Engie’s switch to kits?

Since kits are Engie’s ‘other’ weapon set, how about some legendary kits then. That really shouldn’t be that hard to implement. If I switch to the flamethrower kit and have a legendary flamethrower that has it’s own special look/effects.

Hobo-sacks. There is no reason for them in PvE. There is an ‘excuse’ to have them in PvP that I really don’t buy, but that is arguable. You can at least make it so that hobo-sacks can be turned off in PvE so some of the nice back pieces can be displayed.

For a game all about the cosmetics, Engies sure don’t have much choices. How can this not be seen as a problem?

I’ve noticed new sound effects also.

But I have also noticed a lot of sound related bugs since the patch. Sounds not loading for a while. Random ‘weird’ sounds that were not there before.

I could care less about someone else potentially getting a few more laurels than me.

I could care less about compensation.

I hate the fact that I waste my valuable time in game performing tasks that are simply wiped off a day later. Then to be told ‘oh well’.

The time I have to play is limited and valuable. Do not treat me or my time like it is not important.

I tried to do my monthlies during my holiday to get my mind off all the other changes in the game that are really upsetting me only to get kicked around some more.

Have a little respect for me and my time.

First time you finished monthly or the second?

People finishing the monthly for the second time have reported not getting the laurels again.

If this is the first time this month you have finished the monthly, this might be a more serious bug.

Is the SP now shaded solid blue? Like you have already completed it?

If it is, it should be counting towards map completion as it thinks you have finished it. If not, a support ticket might be the only help.

It the skill point is still not fully shaded, it thinks you have not finished it and you SHOULD be able to attempt it again. Also, triple check you inventory for the item. If nothing else works, a support ticket might be the only help.

Ascended Gear Remaining Soulbound After Patch

I have ascended accessories, rings, and amulet on my main Engie that have remained soulbound after the latest patch.

We were informed that all MF gear would become account bound and new stats would be selectable. This was in the patch notes as well.

I can not transfer these now useless MF ascended items to an ALT.

This bug and change has resulted in a hugh waste of laurels, guild commendations, and pristine fractal relics.

If for some reason it is not possible for you guys to make these items account bound like you have stated, please institute a buy-back vendor that will allow us to get our hard earned currencies back.

Or at the very least, let us salvage these now useless things for ascended crafting materials. Not the best solution, but better than the useless inventory space wasters we have now.

I love the superior sigil of fire. It has a 30% chance to process a flame blast centered on the enemy you critically hit.

It is great for AoE damage.

Depending on your build/playstyle it may or may not be the best one to use on your mesmer.
