Here’s another theory:
Scarlet is being controlled either directly or indirectly by the Mursaat and that her insanity is a direct result of their influence (they either drove her insane on purpose or it was a side effect).
We might hear from them soon.
Although, perhaps the reason we haven’t heard from them is that Mr. E is in fact Scarlet, or specifically, an alternate personality of Scarlet that retains the last vestiges of her sanity that realizes what she has become and knows she must be stopped but is becoming weaker as time goes on and thus surfaces less and less.
Or maybe it is Evon Gnashblade.
Dying the frame to white fixes the problem!
I’m necro, i can’t be white.
And I’m a guardian who uses Abyss dye.
What’s your point?
When I saw the “rapidly evolves” thing, I told a pokemon joke to my party.
But when I saw it, I thought it was going to be something that stacked if we didn’t kill him quickly, but when that happened, I realized that it would be a form/tactic change gimmick.
I think I’m finally starting to understand Scarlet.
She so far has united Charr, Sylvari, two NPC races, and pirates. Normally that would not sound like much, but then we get a chest that can only be opened by combining three keys into one. Where did that come from? With the other keys, they made sense since we were dealing with pirates, but this seemed to come out of left field, and then it hit me.
Scarlet is mimicking Trahearne, uniting the five primary races and several NPC races, as well as organizations comprised of multiple races (namely a band of pirates) under her leadership. To what purpose I have no idea, although I would not be surprised if the theory that she is under the thrall of a dragon that creates minions by driving people insane is correct and that she is making an “Anti-Trinity” to serve the dragons and oppose Trahearne’s Trinity and their efforts to stop the dragons. We probably haven’t seen the last of Scarlet, but I think the next time we see her, we will find yet another union between one an organization of evil members of one of the primary races and an NPC race.
This is all speculation, but then again so is the theory about the dragon who drives people mad.
I don’t remember seeing any hallucinating Quaggans, but I swear the Krait are voiced by Scott McNeil.
Everyone, remember what they said a long time ago: content you would normally expect from an expansion is being worked on by one team, and to keep us entertained until then, another team works on the living world, yet another team works on the holiday celebrations, another team works on cash shop items, and a final team works on bug fixes (I’m probably missing a few teams but you get the idea).
Ok, that does it. From now on, every month I am going to trade in a little gold in exchange for gems so I can eventually buy all of these awesome skins.
Players: I wish we could see our mentor from the order again…
Anet: Wish granted! Enjoy fighting and killing them
Wrryyy…
Um, why are you quoting Dio Brando?
Well, they are tradeable so technically you can buy them without ever touching BLC.
Maybe I should check out the auction house more often embarrassed face
Many of the new weapons skins are ones that I would love to have, especially the ones that require black lion tickets, but the problem with them is, well the need for tickets. I much preferred it back during the Queen’s Jubilee when the new weapon skins could be acquired by completing the events.
Can we have more of that, or at least an implementation of a new system that allows us to get weapon skins without the need to open Black Lion Chests (maybe make it so that we can get them using in game items or by opening the chests, just make it easier to get them via chests).
It would be good, but exactly what would be done with Orr? What point would it serve? Maybe if/when they introduce a large living story patch that would equate to an expansion where we start to rebuild Orr and focus our efforts on the other dragons.
What are you complaining about? That looks good, certainly better than what I got.
Strange, I opened 2-3 chests last week and got one scrap per chest.
You all seem to be ignoring the most important question about the armor:
How does it look on Charrs?
Not really. Mesmers already have 2 skills like that, Null Field and Power Cleanse, and those aren’t even healing skills. Guardians can also group cleanse with PoV.
You gotta also remember that this is a healing skill, and you can only have one of those. You can’t just pop your main source of healing whenever you feel like it, and you’ll have to give up the benefits of another healing skill to use it (eg Warriors would have to give up their precious OP Healing Signet).
that just proves why its OP
.. its universal, so everyone just pops that and woop… mesmers become even more useless.
From the sound of it, it is only supposed to heal conditions, so the fact that it removes conditions and does nothing for health makes it not OP.
Actually, the ooze represents ANet’s philosophy, but not why you think.
It is designed to be frustrating and annoying if you lack communication and don’t know what you are doing, but difficult and rewarding if you do.
Kinda like Tequatl.
Last I heard these are in the works.
I think you’re out of luck here. They’re basically Nightmare weapons except blue instead of purple, or so they seem from what I saw.
I dunno. If we get enough support for this, maybe they bang it out and implement it. I honestly would like to see this implemented because it reminds me of the flower trails in Okami, and I freakin’ loved that game.
Also this might sound weird, but last night I had a dream where this guy was skipping through grassy field at night and wherever his feet touched the grass flowers bloomed and then disappeared (what makes this dream weird is he was an evil man who reminded me of Gluttony from FMA, but that’s beside the point).
The only living story I found frustrating was Tequatl (wait, does he even count as a living story), and that’s because my server lacks organization while fighting him.
Thanks for adding Northern Shiverpeaks to the list.
Every time I have played I have gotten people who have no idea what they are doing on the turrets. I have seen the bone wall go up 3-4 times in one fight.
That’s just…horrific.
I’ll take an invite. I’m on Northern Shiverpeaks but will probably be guesting to Blackgate until I beat Tequatl.
I’ll take an invite (you do have a northern shiverpeaks chapter, right?)

I just got an email like this, and I must say, whoever these phishers are, they made it seem legit. I didn’t see any grammatical or spelling errors, and the response email, instead of being “randomname123@something.whatever” was “noreply@guildwars2.com”.
Sure I didn’t fall for it for a second, but still, its a sight better than those atrocious phishing emails for Diablo 3.
so you mean have him voice act for an asuran
yeah, that wouldn’t be too bad.. or do you want them to insert a “stan lee” ish asuran into the game.. because that would be a bit overboard i think
Possibly both, but how would it be overboard? When a Miyamoto-ish asuran was inserted into the game, we got the Super Adventure Box. Do you consider that overboard?
And sometimes overboard is a good thing. Stan Lee is an overboard kinda guy anyway.
nice comparison
redundant much?
That was only to drive in the point that Stan Lee would make an excellent Asuran, just as Shigeru Miyamoto has.
Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before (to my knowledge)
I mean, it makes sense when you think about it. Asurans are geniuses and Stan Lee is a genius. Asurans think outside the box and Stan Lee thinks outside the box. The Asurans’ catchphrase is “Excelsior” and Stan Lee’s catchphrase is “Excelsior”.
It makes perfect sense!
I for one like them, but I would like them to go back to the every three weeks update (I need some time to upgrade my crafting so I can actually get the new legendary and ascended weapons)
Now we have cannon that says Sylvari are indeed smarter than Asura.
One Sylvari, one, and for all we know she obtained her knowledge via an outside force that is controling her and without said force she wouldn’t be any smarter than an Asura.
Let’s see:
- She’s super educated beyond what can be reasonably expected of a Sylvari or any normal being for that matter
- She likes to taunt and insult the player during battle
- She appears to be both insane, with an inexplicable lust for power to boot
- She has a tendency to laugh and cackle
- She teleports
- etc. etc.She seems too much like a cardboard villain that adheres to a bunch of tropes to feel like a real threat.
Wondering what a Villain Sue is? See:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/VillainSue
http://www.catnip4writers.com/tools/cliche_villain.htm
She could be a villain sue…
OR…
she could be someone who is being controlled by an outside force, possibly another dragon, and is responsible for her knowledge, powers, and insanity. I am pretty sure there are several entities in Guild Wars lore capable of doing this, just don’t know which ones…
Can we add “All the watchknights are regular (female) humans infected with SCP-217 (a.k.a. the clockwork virus)” to my list of conspiracy theories?
Ok, I was doing some searching on the internet and found something interesting:
SCP-217
Google it and read it. You will not be able to look at the Watchknights the same way again (not that people did after all the theories people have been making, but this one takes the cake).
Sorry to burst your bubble but the Queen is not going to die. She is apart of the Human Personal Story. They can not and will not kill off a major character that effects the core storyline of GW2.
Says who? The devs are more powerful than the gods of Tyria. They could easily get people to rerecord personal story dialogue that changes the story or make new people record new dialogue that keeps it the same albeit with new characters.
It’s true what they say: nobody knows what they want until they get it.
Or is that something I made up?
Maybe…this isn’t Queen Jennah, but some doppleganger or disguised/memsmer-magic-using usurper.
Maybe the leader or a high ranking member of the Aetherblades or the Separatists or other faction has managed to take Queen Jennah hostage and has replaced her.
Maybe the watchknights have gained sentience and are trying to take over Kryta.
Or maybe the people who say she isn’t fit to rule are all correct and Jennah has officially gone coo coo for Cocoa Puffs.
This is a great idea.
I fully support this implementation.
I just had an idea that perhaps some people might enjoy: introduce cultural armor/weapons that are in skin form only, allowing people who like their styles but not their stats just use them to override the look of their existing armor or weapon without the need for a transmutation crystal or stone (I can hear all the people who play as charr saying, “finally, now I won’t have to deal with terribad armor clipping!”).
Sorry for the confusion. In order to complete this daily, you need to do the Queen’s Torch Rally in the central garden of Divinity’s Reach.
Wish I had known that before I tried it. Any chance you will update the description of the daily to reflect this?
Depends whether or not the Charr as a sniper rifle.
Possibly.
Yes, yes, yes, and more yes.
New weapon types = new skills = awesome!
Last night I noticed that my Spirit Sword when “commanded” to use the skill where it dives into the ground, would not do so, and was the only one of my spirit weapons that would do this. The hammer and shield worked fine (didn’t test out the bow because I didn’t need it at the time), but the sword would not work. It attacked as normal, but the second command skill just did not work.
I think its meant to be a joke/jab at real world politics. After all, Evon is the founder of the Black Lion Trading Company, and the Black Lion Trading Company IS in charge of all the trained carrier pigeons that deliver letters, cash shop items, auction house items, etc. so of course Eveon is going to get free publicity. Same happens in real life; the people in charge of a magazine, television channel, etc. favor a person running for office, so when you read their magazines, watch their channel, etc., you will be exposed to more “Vote for the person our CEOs like” advertisements.
+1 for Evon for the mouse fart comment alone.
-2 for the fact that he’s a Gladium.
A foreign reconnaissance plane utilizing new technologies crash lands inside the borders of your country. It is (for the most part) in working condition. You are not friendly with the country it originated from. Do you A) salvage the plane for parts, learn what you can, and use that technology to better your army, your defense, and prepare for a war that might end up happening in the future or B ) return the plane and go “Oh, no…it’s fine. I know you were spying on us. But it’s fine and here you go!”
Let’s ask Iran what they did with that U.S. stealth drone that crashed in their country…surely someone who would “keep the loot for themselves” would not be in power. Surely.
I see what you are getting at, but honestly it is a horrible analogy for what is going on. Now if you were to give an example like, say, “Robin Hood recently stole from one of the richest, nastiest, most corrupt people he could find and stole more money than he ever did. Would he a) return it all to the poor, or b) spend it on his merry men to keep them well fed and well equipped to help them rob more corrupt rich people more often and get away with more money to give to the poor”, that would be a FAR better example.
Yours just, well, pardon my language, reeks of politics and slander that quite frankly paints you as a person I don’t want to associate myself with.
I actually think the name sounds perfect for a female Charr, or any female of any race (except Asura, but that’s because they get the weirdest names that border on technobabble and “Faeros Fireblade” doesn’t sound technobabble-y).
Great, now I need to grind up my crafting skills, or should I be looking at this as a good thing?
Maybe we might even get new weapon types to go with them (eventually).
Can anyone say two handed axe or polearm?
Lets be honest: collecting the sky crystals, an elaborate jumping puzzle; Belcher’s Bluff and Sanctum Sprint, mini games; collecting parachutes, mini dungeons and jumping puzzles; while many may find these fun and interesting activities, one can’t help but to wonder where is the story in it all? Breathtaking scenery, check; cliche plot devices(a bazaar of dangerous and mysterious traders), check; they even establish the antagonist and conflict, but then what? Its great to experience and take part in the festival, but if the plot is based on garnering favor for the campaign trail, then shouldn’t we see and take part in their efforts? Why can’t the designers implement the mini-games into the story and kill two birds with one stone; an interesting activity for players that also furthers the plot.
-Maybe Evon could set hire a mysterious bazaar trader to scam the Zephyrite’s leader into an unfair trade, then swing in and save the day, thus acquiring the man’s favor.
-Keil could notice this and inform the leader, but indebted as he is (and buttered up on onnyberry, as he and Evon are playing a friendly game of Belcher’s bluff), he would refuse to believe her.
-Keil would hear of a trial where one collects sky crystals to prove they embody the Zephyrites spirit and abilities.
-Impressed at her prowess the Zephyrites leader feels the need to rethink his decision, and would propose that Keil and Evon take part in the upcoming sanctum sprint tournament, the winner of which, acquiring his trading rights.
-After Evon loses, the Aetherblades could rush in, revealing him as their backer. There’s so many ways they could have kept this content, yet implement a story, but once again, we are left wanting.
I think that’s the point of this update: introduce something that isn’t big to set up for something big. This is after all a “living story”, and as in real life, nothing big happens immediately. There are always little things that serve as signs of whats to come, but nothing big ever spontaneously happens
