Level 40 Karma Costs - Higher than achievable?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

MadDemon.7548

Is it just me or is 9,800 karma for a level 40 weapon unreachable? Why even have these if nobody can actually buy them at the appropriate level?

Maybe it’s just me. If so, please share how you made over 10,000 karma by level 40.

Try completing the daily achievements. They net you 4,5000 karma each.

If you use the Citadel of flame armour, you can. You can certainly set your tail on fire wearing it!

I am sorry, but ever since actually paying attention to an NPC about how she loved to get away from the Iron Legion and the constant banging of hammers and itermittent cries of “Help, my tail’s on fire”, I can’t help but laugh at that.

Btw, where can I find a picture of that, complete with flaming tail effect (or should I just go to the dungeon armor vendor)?

When a bunch of flame legion veterans died at the door I was like ‘I can’t believe I’m reviving you’.

Now you know how Alliance players in WoW felt when they had to protect Medivh, the guy who summoned the Orcs to Azeroth, during one of the Caverns of Time quests.

Beast not being a demon or a cow? :P

ahem
Wrong!
The answer is the cow (it is the only one that is non-fictional, non-sentient, non-misunderstood, and the list goes on).
P.S. Anyone who can properly name the guy in the third picture gets a prize.

Not sure how anyone’s first impression of Charr was not “demon cats”.

Hmm, not sure, perhaps am just one of those people who doesn’t automatically think of daemons when i see something with horns, I guess.

One of these is not like the other.

I must say that Charr physiognomy baffles me. Theirs catlike features versus their bowane ears and horns. Are they race imagined to be “catpeople” or something similar to taurens? Combination of both or neither? Discuss!

I can sum Charr up thusly:

Look familiar?

I’ve seen that movie before! It’s Norn and the Charr! I’m joking :P, but it makes me wonder though if they got their charr idea from this?

Given how the only differences are that Charr have an extra set of horns and ears, I say that it is highly likely.

Um, ok, 6/10.
Glork just doesn’t sound like a Charr name. It sounds like an Ogre or Ettin name. Snowlicker follows the standard conventions of a Charr name, but it just sounds plain weird.

So, I just came up with another name. I did not make this character yet, but I suddenly came up with this name.

Imagine, if you will a Charr engineer who is a member of the Iron Legion named: Dr. Charrsano. Why that name? Because science.

P.S. If anyone gets the reference, I applaud you.

MadDemon – 7/10. I like the last name, but something about names with ‘oth’ in them I’ve never liked for some reason.

Mine is Hiafax Tyrant – Charr Blood Legion Warrior.

Eh, I’ll give it a 5. Its an alright name on its own, sounds alright, but its not very Charr-like. First name fits well enough though I can’t really put my finger on how to pronounce it. The last, though… Charr last names are 2-word combinations, one for the warband and one usually a description of the individual in some way, so that last name doesn’t fit at all. If it were a title (EG Hiafax the Tyrant) then it would fit, but as it is not so much.

I’ll help you with pronouncing it: Guh-air-ah-th (say it quickly though).
And I thought that is what I did for the last name, combine his warband name (bane) with something that describes him (Blades, because when he was young he always called the Blood Legion the Blades Legion, or because he likes to weild a greatsword and summon a spirit greatsword, take your pick). I honestly was initially considering naming him Frogsbane; keep the bane warband name, but the frogs part would come from him taking a liking to hunting frogs when he was young

In this order:
7/10, becuase I like the sound of Reega.
6/10, because it is good, but doesn’t sound too Charr-ish.

Here is mine:
Gerroth Bladesbane, member of the Blood Legion and the Vigil. Right now I am between what armor colors to use (currently Tarnished Steel with some Deep Maple and Deep Pine), but his distinguishing feature is his fur color. It features a generic tiger orange and panther black and is arranged in a tiger stipe fashion, but in reverse; instead of being orange with black stripes, he is black with orange stripes (I’m thinking that with the backstory I gave him, it might have something to do with his father being a Flame Legion Shaman, or at least that what the rumor is).

I think technically the Charr are the smartest, because unlike the Asura, they figured out ways to make their technology, siege weapons, etc. work without a magic power source.

maxed radiance with some honor (http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUIQNAR7dlcgCBXGyIEg4ERWBWW9IeyzeYP4YG3IA)

Necromancer facepaint

MadDemon.7548

I just love the facepaint necromancers use, but I honestly think that its almost sad that the Asura, the de facto magical race, have the least amount of face paint and the Charr, the race that is supposed to shun magic, have the best facepaint (seriously, Charr + Skull facepaint = HOLY KITTEN WHAT IS THAT THING?!?!?!) Compared to Charr necromancer facepaint, the other race’s look downright silly (not in terms the game designers doing a bad job, but in terms of why human necromancers in game think that their skull facepaint that makes them look like a real life child’s face painted to look like a skull is going to scare their enemies).
But that’s just me. What’s everyone else’s opinions?

Racial Skins for Necro minions and Engineer Turrets

MadDemon.7548

I hear ya, but only for the engineer turret skins stuff.

As for the necromancers, well I don’t think it would really fit, mainly because I think the name is a bit of a misnomer. The necromancers you play as don’t actually summon the undead like true necromancers (or worshipers of Zhaitan). The creatures you summon seem more like they would be from the Realm of Torment, meaning it is reasonable for all of them to look alike despite their master’s race.

Special character customizations at later levels

MadDemon.7548

I don’t know how realistic this is or not, but I thought it might be a cool idea to give players the option to customize their characters at later levels in certain ways that are unavailable during initial character creation and represent how much combat your character has seen (for example, facial or body scars, or more extreme, a lost body part that has been replaced by an Asuran prosthetic arm).

The Women of Flame Legion

in Charr

Posted by: MadDemon.7548

MadDemon.7548

During my personal story, I remember the Flame Legion attacking an area with supplies that I needed to get, and the Flame Legion leader there made a comment to the last remaining Charr there (a female Charr at that) about “how easy women have it in the Flame Legion” (I don’t remember the details), to which she replied “You want to demote me to fry cook?!”

So yea, I think that sums up female Charr in the Flame Legion: relegated to cooking, cleaning, sewing, and taking care of the young, just like real life women used to. Perhaps if the Flame Legion became more equal opportunity employers like the other Legions, maybe they could actually reclaim the power they once had.
